This RQD Norther Lights Auto was a freebie, with my 3 RQD Triple G seeds order. Decided to see how well my cheap ass 14w led, could start Seedlings... and unfortunately getting the tent got set back couple weeks. So she has been there much .once than planned.
Germination was Jan 8th, with purified and a little hydrogen peroxide. Popped quickly, under 24hr. Very healthy sprout. Spent 4 weeks under Feit 12, 14w light. In a 3gal cloth pot. Temperatures have been inconsistent, between lower °60 too °75 (Weather has been fucked!). Soil was also some cheap organic Kelloggs soil, leftover from my garden last year. Amended with about %30 perlite, and about 2 cups of worm castings. Drainage definitely not great...
But, its been looking healthy. Though, definitely small.
Over watered last week. So it's a little yellow on its first set of leafs, currently. I have 1800ml of purified water (probably 400-600 less than last water), soaking with roughly 2tbs of castings set aside. Waiting for it to dry a bit more, and water a bit less. Be buying some Dr.Eath fertilizer soon... hopefully for water after next.
Not terribly optimistic about this one... but, who know maybe it'll surprise me. The tent, and Vivosun VS1000 100w light has made a visible difference in just a few hours, thankfully. It had been reaching up consistently, past few weeks. Its already relaxing, leafs much more leveled. Just have to watch close, and dial in the lights... and, hope for the best 🤞
Thr Triple G will definitely have a better start...
She's started to really take off, since getting a proper light!
Definitely in need of some fertilizer. Looks to be nitrogen deficient. Some light yellowing a little on the two lowest leafs.
With such a weak start... hopefully I can get some okay growth in before it takes two flowering. At this point... I'd be content for this poor little girl to give me a couple grams of flower.

This Northern Lights Auto has really grown in the past weeks!
Unsurprisingly, it's starting to show early signs of flower (Its going on 6 weeks now after all). So, its going to finish out pretty small. It did spend nearly 4 weeks under a 14w grow light... in cabinet, under my TV. And, I didn't have proper fertilizer for it till recently. So... all considered, she's done well! But, I was hopeful it might surprise me.
Been a interesting learning experience so far. And the seed was free... so, I'm content with whatever I get at this point. And If nothing else... I could say it's a hearty strain! So if the smoke is decent, I'll definitely consider buying more of these seeds.
This Northern Lights Auto is doing well. It dose has some yellow tips on upper growth. Potassium deficiency best I tell. But, it minor.
I have been giving it mild foliar feed of diluted kelp and Epsom salt, at Lights out every few days. As well feeding with about a quarter of water, that had been soaking several banana peels, washed egg shells and coffee grounds for over a week. To attempt to squeeze out a bit more potassium into the soil. Don't have the money to get potassium sulfate right now, so have to make do for now.
This Northern Lights Auto continues to surprise me!
She's still on the smaller side based on RQS info, and some other grows I've looked at. But, given her rough start... living under a cheap 14w light, mounted under my TV stand... with no fertilizer available for the first 4 weeks... well, I'm very happy with the results so far. She's a very resilient plant!
Never had a opportunity to see a cannabis plant through anywhere near this far. So really don't know how long this stage might be... but, seems like it shouldn't be long. Couple weeks maybe, if I had to guess. But, flowers are coming in fast now, and smelling better by the day... particularly at lights out! Very nice, mild, musky sweat scent, with a mild peppery touch.
Shes generally doing pretty good this week. She dose have some brown spots on upper foliage, and yellow tips. But her scent is stronger by the day(Particularly at lights out), and she's starting to show some light frosting on her flowers. Bud sights looking better by the day!
As for the brow spots and yellow tips... well, I finally got some PH test strips. And tested the filtered tap water I use. I was expecting it was outside of a safe range, but... I wasn't expecting a PH of 8! Should (hopefully) see a improvement in my girls health, now that I can narrow that down.
She's doing very well this week!
Got her last big trim recently. I removed a fair bit of fan leafs, as well as some low bud sights that clearly wouldn't amount to much. Should help light and air penetration a great deal, and focus energy upwards. Since the hair cut, she seems to be responding very well. She's not showing any sign of slowing, and her flowers are frosting up beautifully!
And, since correcting the PH levels, her health has improved significantly! Definitely, proof to me of just how important PH really is. I knew it mattered, but clearly underestimated it.
She's coasting along very well at this point. Just some very light trim here and there, and daily watering.
Leafs are getting more glossy, and frosted by the day. Trichromes are developing very well, and checking them often under magnification for changes. Scent is absolutely fantastic! A little musky, and sweet floral scent. With a light hop/pine smell.
Also... I started making up water in a 5gal bucket for all my girls. Been adding some light supplemental feeding of, Fox Farm Bloom, fish emulsion and worm castings mixed in there water. And I keep it bubbling away, to remove chlorine and aeration to microbiology. Saves me alot of time on PH correcting, supplementing.
Just daily watering, and watching trichromes. Just a few sparse amber trichromes now. Gave her a flush her a flush, and I added a scope of worm castings too.
Scent is becoming much stronger now. Lingers in the room, and down the hallway a little, evertime the tent is open for long. Smell is sweet, floral and mildly musky. Very pleasant.
Can't be long now.
1st harvest, so... no idea how much bud I have wet. I'd be happy with 2oz. But, we'll have to wait and see.
She's hanging now. I plan too dry trim, and make dry-ice hash with everything but the bigger nugs. So I can make edibles for my mother useing hash, hash butter, and hash-milk. Seemed like dry trim would come out better.
This Royal Queen Seeds Northern Lights Auto has exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a easy-going grow, with a hearty strain. Seems to be a great choice for novice growers.
Very nice! I have a Northern Lights Auto seedling that has stalled out. I just took down the Philzon and put up the Vivosun VS1000. I’m really hoping it’s not too late for her.
@Sleepy_tree, if it's anything like mine... it'll definitely be fine. Seems to be a really sturdy strain! Also seems to be slow growing too, though. I've found a few diary for RQS Northern Lights Auto, 16 weeks long. And, mines probably in for another couple weeks at least.
@OSGoldskoolgrower, I've been wanting to grow white widow or Ice, for making hash. I've heard good things.
Set on AK47 and Shurbet, for my next set though. AK was one of the funnest, and hardest to find smokes I've had in almost 20years of smoking bud. Never had Sherbet, but sounds great.
@Shroomancer, yea they are very resilient.same as the white widow ect most of the oldskool strains are still top dog my opinion.godbless enjoy next few weeks.
I like your grow tent. I'm getting one myself. Bit bigger than that. 4X3 You get 90cm2 area and a side part like yours that's 30cm2 x2 as it also has a shelf. I'm looking at AC infinity. How would you rate your tent? This is your 1st?
Also, bit of advice..if you're a smoker like myself and thought your 1st plant will produce 200+ grams, you'll be massively let down. Yes, these marks are reachable. But, with time and many grows. So, id advise you fill your tent. Even with a few autos to take up the space. Feel free to mes me regarding any tips.
@gottagrowsometime yes, this my 1st tent. But, I think the tent has been pretty solid! I paid 120usd, for the 2x3, 2 in 1 tent paired with a VS1000 light, on the Vivosun official ebay page. Was a big flash sale, so maybe keep a eye out there. Full price, I'd say the tent is a easy 8 out of 10.
I do see very tiny pin holes in the stitching, around the zipper when the room is completely dark. But not enough for me to feel it's a issue. The zipper, stitching and material feel very sturdy! No complaints there.
Has plenty of vent ports. Frame seems solid, and very easy to assemble. Putting the tent over wasn't bad at all. And the shelf on the right section is easily removable, so you could allow for taller plants if needed. Came with 3 liners, 1 for each section.
Biggest complaint, and the minus 2... the divider between the two sections is a bit of a hassle. Kinda need help putting it in. Ideally with someone to push in from the outside, to secure the velcro completely. Also, the optional crossbars for hanging equipment, inevitably need to go above the divider, between the velcro. This could cause light leaks between sections. And, adjusting the top bar a little bit of a hassle because of the divider. The divider also blocks the straps for the removable liner. None of this has been a huge deal, but it is a mild hassle. If they were to put little cutouts into the divider, it would definitely help. No idea if AC Infinity are better in this way. But, they do seem to generally reviewed a little bit higher... but also a fair bit more expensive.
If you want more pictures of the interior, feel free to message me. I know I had trouble finding pictures of exactly how it was laid out on the inside. And I would assume the larger 2 in 1, is mostly the same design. Just scale up.
And yeah, I'm starting more plants. Just put 2 seeds too germinate. Growing for myself and cancer patient. Law permits 4 plants per household, with a medical card here. So I plan to stagger growth. 2 in veg, while two are flowering in the 2ftx2ft main chamber. Also, very likely too switch to photos after this set, to have more flexibility in .
