It was a pleasure to grow this plant. It's hard to find Afghan Auto so I was happy to have gotten it! The smell was great.. earthy and herbal... like a middle eastern pepper!
Sat Feb 3 - I harvested the plant. Each bud felt nice and heavy, juicy and plump!
Day 92 - I trimmed them by hand and put the buds into the drying rack. It'll be there for the next 2 weeks.
Sat Feb 17 - I removed the buds from the drying rack and put them on the scale
Day 106 - The results are very predicable with regards to %'age lost from trimming and %'age lost from drying.
- Analysis per plant:
- Plant 1 - 19.25 inches tall
Hand Trimmed - Wet, un-trimmed buds = 166.87g
- Wet, trimmed buds = 156.58g
- My trimming took 10.29g off the buds, which is 6.17%
- Dry bud = 35.73g
- The drying process caused a 77.18% loss
- Biggest bud, wet = 27.46g
- Biggest bud, dry = 6.25g
Total dried weight of buds - 35.73grams
so, pretty much 1.27 ounces for this one plant
- Losing 77.18% of the weight is about average when compared to my other grows. So, no surprises
- I put the buds into a curing bucket, hooked up the air compressor and set the timer.
- It'll be in there for 5 weeks, then I'll disconect the air compressor and it can be stored in the bucket until it's gone
