Sat Nov 4 - I germinated the seed. I put the seed into water with ChitoSal and Microbial Mass Pro.
Day 1 - 1 litre of water + 2.50ml of Chitosal + 0.25ml of Microbial Mass Pro
- Set up the propagator, on a heat mat set to 26°C, in the grow tent with the lights off, heat set to 24°C and
humidity at 65%
- Poured the water in to a bowl with the seed, let sit for 35 min as per Instructions on Chitosal
- Put seed into papertowel and into an open ziploc bag, then poured the water containing Chitosal &
Microbial Mass Pro onto the papertowel, then poured the rest of the water into a spray bottle to keep the
papertowel moist
Sun Nov 5 - I took a look at the seed. It's been about 24 hours. The seed appears to have a tap root showing or at the
Day 2 very least, the shell is splitting open for the tap root to appear.
- Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to plant it into the plug
- I'm keeping the papertowel moist with the spray bottle containing ChitoSal & Microbial Mass Pro.
Mon Nov 6 - The seed was ready to be planted into the plug. The tap root was out enough.
Day 3 - I took the plug and used a 1/4 inch drill bit to drill out the hole a bit better. I find the pre-drilled holes in
the plugs are not big enough.
- I think going forward, I need to germinate the seeds on a Thursday or Friday to ensure I catch the tap roots
at a reasonable length and not so far out.
- I dumped out the spray bottle and filled it with water only containing Microbial Mass Pro. As per the
ChitoSal instructions, it shouldn't be used until 1 week prior to flowering.
Tue Nov 7 - the seedling has not emerged yet from, the plug, but I can tell that it will probably emerge tomorrow.
Day 4 - I sprayed the plug to re-moisten it.
Wed Nov 8 - the seedling has now emerged from the plug. The seed husk will still attached so I removed with gently with
Day 5 tweezers.
- Because of the seed husk still being attached after it emerged, the cotyledons are not open, but I'm certain
they will be open by tomorrow.
- I sprayed the seedling and plug to re-moisten them.
Thu Nov 9 - The cotyledons are now open and the seedling looks well on its way!
Day 6 - Another surprise… there is already a root coming out of the bottom of the plug.
- I will probably need to plant the seedling into the grow bag tomorrow
Fri Nov 10 - I planted the seedling into a grow bag.
Day 7 - I sprinkled mycorrhizal fungi into a small pre-dug hole that I put the seedling into.
- I then watered the plant with Microbial Mass Pro, RapidStart and Diamond Nectar. I checked the ph of the
water after adding the nutrients and it was at 6.5. I just use half a litre for the first feeding.
- Lights are 24 inches above plant, lowered humidity to 60% and LED lights set to level 3.
Sat Nov 11 - I churned the soil a bit to help it to dry. I lowered the fans to be closer the grow bag and added another fan
Day 8 at the floor level. At this stage, I find that the soil doesn't dry out unless you churn it.
Mon Nov 13 - the soil was nice and dry. So the plants were good and thirsty.
Day 10 - The seedling is noticeably taller and the first leaves have grown significantly since Day 7.
- I watered the plant with Microbial Mass Pro, RapidStart and Diamond Nectar. The Microbial Mass Pro will
now only be fed one every 2 weeks.
- I don't seem to have to use PhDown as the nutrients that I'm adding in are automatically adjusting the water
to 6.5 PH.
- The seedling is 2" inches in height.
Tue Nov 14 - I churned the soil again. I will lower the fans a bit more to ensure air flow.
Day 11 - There are already new leaves forming. The seedlings seemed to have not suffered any transplant shock.
Thu Nov 16 - The soil was a tad bit moist still, so I lowered the fans even more and added in another tower fan. I ensured
Day 13 that I saw the seedling shimmer slightly with the breeze of the fans.
Fri Nov 17 - I watered the plant with RapidStart and Diamond Nectar.
Day 14 - I adjusted the humidty down to 55°. The seedling is approx 2.5" inches in height.
Sat Nov 18 - the soil was fairly damp. I feel that there still is not enough fair flow at the soil level. There could be other
Day 15 reasons such as the seedling not requiring as much nutrients, therefore not sucking the moisture out of the
soil like they do when they are bigger. Also, the soil level is lower than I normally fill the bags to, which would
make it harder for the air to get to.
- So I lowered the fans right to the grow bag. I made sure that the seedling was chimmering even more,
but not enough to to cause harm.
- Also, I noticed that the soil appears to have less peat moss mixed in than usual. That could also be a reason
for the soil not drying out as well.
- It does have me a tad concerned. I will churn the soil every day to ensure the soil is dry before the next
feeding. When I churned the soil tonight, the moisture ran deep into the soil.
Mon Nov 20 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar & Floralicious.
Day 17 - The soil was dry so the maneuvering of the fans seems to have worked.
- The shower nozzle at the end of the watering can broke off, so the soil got soaked in some areas and not in
others. I'll be getting a watering can tomorrow so that the soil can be watered evenly.
Tue Nov 21 - Churned the soil. Because of the watering can losing the shower nozzle, the soil very wet in some areas and
Day 18 not so wet in others.
- The plant is growing nicely.
Wed Nov 22 - The soil is drying nicely. Will probably give it another day and then water the plant on Fri - Day 21
Day 19 - The plant is growing nicely.
Fri Nov 24 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar & Floralicious.
Day 21 - The plant is significantly bigger than just a couple of days ago. I love how fast these plants grow.
- The plant is now reaching the top of the grow bag and its leaves are catching the breeze from the fans
which will probably deflect the breeze down to the soil level. Also, the larger the plant get, the sooner the
soil will dry out as the plant uptakes more nutrients. Diamond Nector and Floralicious both contain humeric
acid and that causes the plants to uptake more nutrients. But I will churn the soil if necessary.
Sat Nov 25 - I churned the soil as it didn't appear to be drying. My previous grows, the soil needed churning up to the early
Day 22 part of week 4. so It's pretty normal.
-The plants are looking great! Growing every day, new leaves popping up non-stop.
Tue Nov 28 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, Microbial Mass Pro, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar & Floralicious.
Day 25 - the plant is 4 inches tall, humidity is at 55% and I'm keeping the LED lights 24 inches above the canopy.
Wed Nov 29 - I churned the soil. It's getting harder, the foliage is in the way and I have to be careful not to tear a leaf.
Day 26 - I noticed that the leaves are showing a magnesium deficiency. So on the next feeding, I'll add the CalMag.
Sat Dec 2 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar & Floralicious.
Day 29 - I'm hoping the CalMag will help with the Magnesium deficiency. My next feeding will start to include the
base nutrients
- The plant is 7 inches tall
Sun Dec 3 - I churned the soil. I'm hoping this will be the last time.
Day 30 - I reorganized the plants and separated them based on height so that I could adjust the light even above them
and not have the tallest plants get burned or the shortest plants not get enough light. This way, one half of the
tent has the taller plants and the other half has the shorter plants.
- I raised the fans up a bit as the plants were shimmering a bit too much now that they are taller. The plants are
now shimmering just right.
- I also raised the light to 32 inches abover the plant canopy and I cranked the light to the max at 10.
- The plants are still showing the magnesium deficiency, but it's only been 24 hours. The next feeding will
include the full compliment of nutrients so if there are any other deficiencies, they will be satisfied at that time.
- Also, I noticed that I'm seeing the very begging of the preflowers that start to form the buds. I will need to
spray the plant with ChitoSal tomorrow morning.
- I can't believe how early they showed up. Last grow they didn't show up for another week.
Tue Dec 5 - In the morning, about 30min after the lights went out for the 6 hours of rest, I mixed 0.625ml into 500 ml of
Day 32 water and sprayed the plant. I soaked it pretty good as per the instructions and ensured I got it from all
angles. Next ChitoSal use will be just mixed in with the water for the feeding and just be poured onto the soil.
- In the evening, I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious,
Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora Bloom and Koolbloom liquid.
- The plant is 11 inches tall. It is growing nice foliage, I will have to trim it in about a week from now
Wed Dec 6 - I churned the soil. The plants are growing very fast so I'm hoping I can stop churning the soil soon.
Day 33 - the plant is now 12 inches tall
- the preflowers are starting to be more obvious
Thu Dec 7 - The plant looks great and is growing fast. It is 14 inches tall today.
Day 34 - The plant is still showing signs of what I believe to be is a magnesium deficiency. But other than that, the plant
does look great
- I usually ease into the aggressive feeding chart over two feedings, but I'm going to go full aggressive on the
next feeding. I think the plant are ready for it.
Fri Dec 8 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 35 Grow, Flora Bloom and Koolbloom liquid
- the plant is now 13.5 inches tall
- The plant is looking amazing. I will trim the plant on the next feeding. I want all decent bud sites to be
exposed to the light.
- I will also probably continue to churn the soil if I feel it's needed.
- I had to raise the lights significantly due to how much the plants have grown over the last few days.
Sat Dec 9 - I churned the soil. The plant is 14 inches.
Day 36 - I will be trimming the plant on the next feeding to expose lower bud sites, increase airflow and to get rig of
the very low bud sites to ensure the nutrients go to the worthy bud sites.
Sun Dec 10 - The plant is looking great. Growing more and more each day.
Day 37 - will definitely be doing a slight trim tomorrow to ensure that the lower, but viable bud sites get established
before it's too late.
Mon Dec 11 - I trimemed the plant. I always go through a bit of trimmers remorse after I'm done…wondering if I went a bit
Day 38 too far. But every grow, the leaves grow back thick enough for me to have to trim again.
- The plant has lots of buds sites and now they are all exposed and the soil will dry better as well now that the
light and the fan breeze can reach it.
I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Grow, Flora Bloom, Koolbloom liquid and Microbial Mass Pro
- The suspected magnesium deficiency seems to be gone, the leaves are looking normal
- The plant is now 18 inches tall
Wed Dec 13 - The plant is looking great. Already looking like it bounced back after the trim. It has already grown, so it
Day 40 seems like the trim didn't cause any plant shock.
- The plant is now 19 inches tall
Thu Dec 14 - I watered the plants with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 41 Grow, Flora Bloom and Koolbloom liquid
Sun Dec 17 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 44 Grow, Flora Bloom and Koolbloom liquid
- The plant is now 20 inches tall
- The plant is looking great, not really seeing that magnesium deficiency signal any more.
- I had to trim a couple of fans leaves that had grown since the last trim that were now blocking lower bud
sites
Wed Dec 20 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 47 Grow, Flora Bloom and Koolbloom liquid
- After the feeding, I did the 2nd application of the ChitoSal, which is sprayed on the bud sites. I really gave the
plant a soaking. All future applications need to be just be added to the water at feeding time.
- I've already notice right before I sprayed the plant with the ChitoSal, that there is already the early forming
of the trichomes.
- This is the earliest I have ever seen the trichomes. The last grow I did was New York Turbo Diesel and the
trichomes showed up at Day 67, which was the earliest I had ever seen at that time. Before that, I'd typically see
the trichomes around Day 80.
Thu Dec 21 - The plant is looking great. I think it had now stopped growing and will now focus on bud building
Day 48 - The plant is 20 inches tall, same as 4 deays ago.
Fri Dec 22 - The plant is definitely focusing on bud building. I can see the preflowers getting much bigger.
Day 49
Sat Dec 23 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 50 Grow, Flora Bloom, Koolbloom liquid and Microbial Mass Pro
Tue Dec 26 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 53 Grow, Flora Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- The plant are looking great. It felt unusually warm in the tent. I think I may need to change the carbon filter
cover. It might be clogged.
Wed Dec 27 - Today I really noticed a change with the buds. They looked noticeably bigger than yesterday.
Day 54
Fri Dec 29 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, RapidStart, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora
Day 56 Grow, Flora Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- This was the last usage with RapidStart as per my feeding schedule
- The plant looks great. The buds are really stacking up. Some of the pistil hairs are just starting to turn brown
Sun Dec 31 - The plant looks great and smells great. There's a peppery and sour smell to the bud, delicious
Day 58 - I gave the plant a slight trimming. There were more fan leaves that had grown to be in the blocking the
light to lower bud sites. I normally save the trimmings for feeding night, but since that's tomorrow, I felt that it
isn't too long to wait.
Mon Jan 1 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 59 Bloom, Koolbloom liquid and ChitoSal. The ChitoSal was added directly to the soil
Tue Jan 2 - The plant looks great. The buds are bulking up
Day 60
Thu Jan 4 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Gorw, Flora
Day 62 Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
Sun Jan 7 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 65 Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- When I opened the grow tent, I could smell the sour earthlyness of the strain.
Tue Jan 9 - I noticed that the soil was pretty dry and I probably could have watered it tonight. Around day 45 on my last
Day 67 grow, I was watering the plants every other day as the plants were really sucking up the nutrients. I was a bit
surprised on this grow when the plant was still wet two days later.
- I will still water them tomorrow, but after that, I will see how moist the soil is two days later and if it's dry
enough, I'll water it. The more nutrients I can give them while they are bulking up, the better
Wed Jan 10 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 68 Bloom, Koolbloom liquid and Microbial Mass Pro
- The plant is really coming along. Smells amazing!
Fri Jan 12 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 70 Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- The plant was as dry as when I was watering it every 3rd day. It is uptaking more nutrients!
Sat Jan 13 - I checked on the plant and the soil looks too wet to be dry by tomorrow, so I doubt I'll be watering until Monday
Day 71 - It's a little surprising as nothing has changed temperature or humidity wise, so I expected the soil to be dry as
it was last time. Oh well, the plant will do what they do!
Sun Jan 14 - The soil was a more moist than I'd like before watering them. The surface looked dry but when picking up the
Day 72 plant, you could feel a slight heft, implying there's still a lot of moisture in the soil. I like the plants to go thursty
so that the roots gets bigger to search for nutrients.
Mon Jan 15 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 73 Bloom, Koolbloom liquid and ChitoSal.
- The plant looks and smells great!
- I'm seeing a potassium deficiency. It also looks a little like a nitrogent deficiency, but since we're in the blooming
phase, the plant doesn't want nitrogen as much as potassium, it is way more likley a potassium deficiency.
- I will be increasing the Flora Bloom by 1.5 until I start to use KoolBloom Dry and Ripen.
Wed Jan 17 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 75 Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- I used 1.5 x the amount of KoolBloom I had on my feeding chart.
- As with past grows, I usually start to see a potassium deficiency around this exact same phase of the grow, and
usually I increase the amount of Flora Bloom, but this time, I've decided to increase the KoolBloom as it contains
more potassium. We'll see how this goes.
Fri Jan 19 - I checked on the plant and although the top of the soil appeared dry, the grow bag had some heft to it
Day 77 suggesting it is still a bit saturated. I'm sure it will be ready tomorrow.
Sat Jan 20 - I watered the plant with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 78 Bloom, and Koolbloom liquid
- Probably tomorrow I'll be using my camera and macro lens to see the trichomes.
- Next week I have it on my schedule to start the KoolBloom Dry and Ripen, which are used for the last two weeks
of the grow, but it must also be timed to the state of the trichomes.
Sun Jan 21 - I used my DSLR camera with a macro lens to view the trichomes. I noticed that the trichomes were mostly cloudy
Day 79 and a few were amber coloured.
- I have adjusted my feeding schedule to make this the last week where I'll be using Koolbloom dry and Ripen
- Next week will be the flush.
- I wish I would have used the DSLR a bit earlier. Then I could have had the plant being fed the Koolbloom dry and
Ripen for an extra week.
Tue Jan 23 - I watered the plants with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 81 Bloom, Koolbloom dry, Ripen and Microbial Mass Pro
- This is the first feeding where I am switching to Koolbloom dry and using Ripen.
Thu Jan 25 - The plant looks and smells great! It's got a really nice pepper and spice aroma.
Day 83 - The soil had just a slight amount of heft to it, and I probably could have watered it tonight, but I decided to stick
to my schedule and water it tomorrow. That will be the last time giving it nutrients because the next watering will
be a flush… then one more flush, then I will harvest it, dry it and cure it.
Fri Jan 26 - I watered the plants with CannaMax Silica, CalMag, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious, Flora Micro, Flora Grow, Flora
Day 84 Bloom, Koolbloom dry and Ripen. This is the last feeding. Next is the Flush!
Mon Jan 29 - I flushed the plant Florakleen. I used 2 litres of water and I PH'ed it afterwards
Day 87 - As usual, the water came out completely orange despite the fact that Florakleen is clear like water.
Thu Feb 1 - I watered the plant with Ph'ed water. It came out clear which is great!
Day 90
Fri Feb 2 - The plant looks great and smells great. The buds look juicy
Day 91
It was a pleasure to grow this plant. It's hard to find Afghan Auto so I was happy to have gotten it! The smell was great.. earthy and herbal... like a middle eastern pepper!
Sat Feb 3 - I harvested the plant. Each bud felt nice and heavy, juicy and plump!
Day 92 - I trimmed them by hand and put the buds into the drying rack. It'll be there for the next 2 weeks.
Sat Feb 17 - I removed the buds from the drying rack and put them on the scale
Day 106 - The results are very predicable with regards to %'age lost from trimming and %'age lost from drying.
- Analysis per plant:
- Plant 1 - 19.25 inches tall
Hand Trimmed - Wet, un-trimmed buds = 166.87g
- Wet, trimmed buds = 156.58g
- My trimming took 10.29g off the buds, which is 6.17%
- Dry bud = 35.73g
- The drying process caused a 77.18% loss
- Biggest bud, wet = 27.46g
- Biggest bud, dry = 6.25g
Total dried weight of buds - 35.73grams
so, pretty much 1.27 ounces for this one plant
- Losing 77.18% of the weight is about average when compared to my other grows. So, no surprises
- I put the buds into a curing bucket, hooked up the air compressor and set the timer.
- It'll be in there for 5 weeks, then I'll disconect the air compressor and it can be stored in the bucket until it's gone
