First Outdoor Grow with Durban Poison, Frisian Dew & Shaman

Shaman and Frisian Dew are growing mercilessly in height and width and seem ideally suited to my climate. They have responded well to the fertiliser and the soil. The ladies of these varieties, which I planted directly in prepared garden soil, are smaller in size. I was much more careful with the soil in the pots than with the soil in the garden. I will bear this in mind for next season. I find it much more difficult to handle the Durban Poison plants from regular seed. So far I have identified three male specimens, one of which I removed from the pot when it showed signs of male flowering. Hopefully the plant I have now planted is female. It is still too small for cuttings. Pests such as aphids are present but not yet a threat. There was slug damage to a Frisian Dew in the garden soil, so I sprinkled slug pellets in a 1.5 metre radius around the two plants for three consecutive days until no more pellets were picked up.
