My first grow ever.
as my tent is only 50x50x120 i will try LST and if i get there use a screen.
Germinated them in potting soil, will move them in a 11l textile pot with Sonnenerde Schwarzerde.
First day was under a shitty amzn lamp before TS 600 was delivered.
Repotted today in Schwarzerde with 20% perlite.
The leaves were already hanging over the edge of the pot and the roots had reached the edge of the pot. So I think this was the ideal time, even if it was a little early in their lifes (7 & 8 days old)
The tent is working wonderfully, temperature and humidity largely constant. 3 PC fans were installed for silent and energy-saving air circulation.
Also added an old nylon as a cover for the passive air intake because quite a lot of dust was getting in and possibly other life forms.
I hope they tolerate the repotting well.
Any advice or Feedback is highly welcome!
A lot has happened this week. Since this is my first grow and I am trying to learn as much as possible, I decided to try topping one of the plants and just go for LST on the other.
So I topped the Sour Ripper on day #16, by the way: It was already showing its sex at that point, so i guess its already preflowering after 2 weeks. I was worried that I was too late to top, but i was waiting for more nodes to develop. I also lowered the distance from the canopy to the lamp to ~40 cm.
I had to leave town for three days and when I came back I saw that the topping had taken it pretty well and some serious growth was noticeable. The two new main branches are developing.
The Zombie Kush, on the other hand, grew very little vertically but spread out quite a bit.
On day #21 /# 22 I started LST on both plants. I was quite nervous but I am quite happy with the results so far. I spread the branches of the Ripper flat in all directions, its looking like a totally different plant now.
The Zombie Kush was harder to figure out how to bend it down, as the internodal space is really small with this one. So i just bent the main stem down and removed fan leaves that were blocking the light. I accidentally broke another branch, but i think she will be fine.
I think I could have started the LST earlier, but it is what it is and I think it still looks promising and they seem to be doing quite well.
However, I am still on the fence, if it is a good idea to grow two plants in this small tent.
The Sour Ripper is starting to bloom.
I noticed some leafes fading in color, so i gave the Sour a liitle bit of alga bloom. I suspect it to be an PH Issue though. I just received a PH Pen, but still need to calibrate it.
Gonna buy some grow Nutrients as well and feed the zombie.
Update 5th week - Trouble in Paradise
I had hoped that I would get through the grow without fertilizing, as this Terra Preta soil is supposedly able to do that.
Unfortunately, however, both plants have been showing signs of trouble in the last few days.
Both have these beige, light brown spots on the leaves.
It could be a lack of nitrogen or calcium or the pH value could be too high.
I hadn't looked into this yet, but the pH of my tap water is also quite high at 7.7.
So both are getting some Bio Bizz Grow and a little CalMag now, the Sour Ripper is also getting some alga bloom
Before each watering, i also lower th PH to approx. 6.5 from now on.
Yesterday they both got a summer haircut: Off with a few broken leaves and some fan leaves that are covering the flowers. They liked that, as it looks a day later.
Regarding LST i slightly adjust some branches here and there and tuck some leaves.
I also still try to get my lights in the right distance. Could that also be an issue here?
I think you got more than one thing going on with this plant. Definitely a rootzone problem, either overwatering or pH. Address this first before playing with your nutes, they may be linked.
I think last weeks problem was indeed a ph issue.
Since controlling ph the plant look way better. I still give nutes (less than advised in the feeding charts) now, that i bought them.
Zombie Kush also starts flowering now.
Removed some plant wire, as i hope the plants will still stretch. In the beginning, i was worried, that my tent is to small but as of now, the plants could very well get a little bigger. I may have trained them a little to much or stunted their growth along the way? On the other hand, they never fully stopped growth, so i doubt that i may have stunted them.
Time will tell.
Still seeing some problems and yellowing leaves, its possible that i overfed them a little, so i cut back on the nutes again. Removed dead and sick leaves.
Bought some Alg A Mic to help the plant get back to shape. So this week it was only Alg-A-Mic, and a little Cal Mag.
I also defoliated and removed some popcorn buds in the lower levels for better air circulation.
The Buds of the Ripper are looking pretty already, the Kush still needs some more time. I guess the reached their final size now, i thought they would stretch way more.
But im still content so far. I hope they will make it through those last weeks.
Autumn is really setting in.
The leaves on the Zombie Kush are turning purple-ish dark, the Sour Ripper is fading and just looking beautiful (imo).
Interesting, the Sour seems a week more mature, the strain description gives the ripper cycle 5-15 days more than the kush though.
So far I'm really happy with this first grow, even though they are smaller than I expected, they still hang full of bud.
I love these plants.
Still seeing some problems, leaves are showing a lot of different symptoms but i guess its somewhat normal at this stage of flowering (?)
May have overdone it with the nutes when I gave them with every watering instead of every week, even though only in really small dosages. Also had a too wide range in ph I guess. Problems started when I gave them collected rainwater once after watering with tap water. Still removing some foliage and dead leaves here and there and removing a few popcorn buds.
So, its been many learnings so far and here is for hoping they make it ~2 weeks more, that's my guess at least for the sour ripper.
chopped the Sour Ripper today and put it in a self made dry box, that i´ll place in the tent, where the Kush still needs a week more.
Update: there Was a heatwave in my Region after chopping her. I fear I might have overdried her. Hygrometer Shows 45% rh in a grovebag. I added a boveda now.
