📆 Germination Week, 20-26 April 2024
20 April - Placed 3 seeds in a cup of RO water, put in seedling grow tent under 24hrs light at 25% power, temp 74 degrees F.
21 April - 2 seeds cracked, roots appeared. Placed into Root Riot starter cubes.
22 April - 3d seed cracked. Placed into wet paper towel.
24 April - 1st seed sprouted from starter cube. Main root exposed, moved to permanent DWC system (see pictures). Filled for first time with solution.
25-26 April - Let seedling grow.
Thank you Seedsman Seeds! I’m very excited to be a sponsored participant and given the opportunity to cultivate during SeedsmanSeeds Growoff this year!
The strain I received was Pineapple OG. This is a new 2024 release from Seedsman Seeds. Its genetics are a hybrid 3 way cross with Pineapple Kush, Pineapple Muffin, and Pineapple Express. This unique fusion results in tall plants boasting remarkable uniformity, and delightful sweet, tropical fruit flavors. It also has notably high THC levels (25-27%), 50% Sativa / 50% Indica, with harvest yielding up to 450g indoor - 750g outdoor /m2, and a flowering time between 56-70 days. I’m anticipating the upcoming weeks with great optimism.
📑 The Plan - use a Deep Water Culture, 3 gal system, as a permanent home. Apply a weekly feeding schedule using time tested blends of Terra Aquatica (formerly General Hydroponics), Botanicare, and Europonics nutrients throughout the cycle. Depending on the speed of the grow, veg the plant for 6-10 weeks using the scrog method of training. Then flip into flower where she will continue for another 8-10 weeks. So my forecast is this grow should be finished around 30 August.

📆 Week 1, 27 April - 3 May 2024
27 April - 3 May - Observed and let the seedling grow.
📑 Not much to do except observe the seedling at this stage, check and adjust the PH level in the DWC. She is growing as expected, fast and strong. Root developement is steady and on track. I see no problems whatsoever. Her 1st nutrient change will be week 3.

📆 Week 2, 4-10 May 2024
4-9 May - Observed and let the seedling grow.
10 May - Removed first two branches from seedling (see video).
📑 The seedling is growing as expected, and showing no problems. It has always been a practice to remove the two branches from the first true leaf nodes, because they rarely are able to keep up with the plants growth, and just suck energy basically. The rest of the week was making only minor PH adjustments as needed to maintain the desired level of 6.2

📆 Week 3, 11-17 May 2024
11 May - Increased light power to 60%.
12-17 May - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Increased light power to 60% to get DLI 25 coverage on the plant. Made adjustments to lower branches moving them through leaves. The plant seems to be on its way to keeping a uniform height without any training.

📆 Week 5, 25-31 May 2024
25-27 May - Observed and let the plant grow.
28 May - Defoliated plant.
29 May - Placed scrog ring on trellis system, bent top of plant over 90 degrees, adjusted and spread branches (see pictures).
30-31 May - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 I’m very pleased with the way this plant has responded to the nutrient schedule so far. Now it is time to see how she will do with training. I like using a version of the scrog method most because it gives me the greatest space for bud growth overall. My experiences have taught me that under these lights there is about 15-18” worth of quality vertical bud potential. Anything below that line is only draining on the plant, and not receiving adeqate DLI. So I dont need to focus on a tall plant - rather a wide one. Now that she is under a scrog the DLI has a significant canopy increase.
What I’ve done with this plant is cut all side shoots off the main branches up to the scrog. She will grow for another week to allow all for growth to develop just above that and then be flipped to flower. I’ve never grown this plant before, but assumeing she can double her size during pre-flower, I’ll have plenty of room in my grow tent.
The Trellis System: is made with 1/2” (12.7mm) white, SharkBite PEX, 1/2” pex clamps, small screws/nuts #6-32 x 3/8 in (to hold clamps opposite each other, this is what holds the structure together, side bars, rings, scrog), 1/2” pex straight coupling connectors (to connect rings, and extensions), nylon tape and nylon cord. The frame design is independant from the bucket and can be put on anytime before or after the start of the grow. It simply snaps together (nothing needs to be crimpted), the rings stay in tact with coupling and tape, the netting is strung once for the most part, I prefere 2” squares, and held in place by clamps. The size of the rings depends on the size of your pot, the bottom and top ring are measured seperately. The scrog ring is determined by the size of the tent or desired spread. It takes 5 side bars evenly spaced apart and snapped on the bottom ring 1st to hold the frame sturdy in place, their length should start flat from the bottom to about 8” above the top of the bucket. Place the pot into the bottom ring with 5 side bars already attached, lift up the bars, then put on and attach the top ring, this prevents it from moving. Both are then placed on a 12” Bonsai turn table for easy access and observation of the plant. The final scrog is placed on when the desired height is close to being achieved, then maneuvered down over the plant. A simple design that allows you to easily adjust the netting (place extenders on side bars faceing in opposite direction for additional height) and opens many other possabilities for training. See pictures for an example.

1-3 Jun - Observed and let the plant grow.
4 June - Flipped the plant early to pre-flower light schedule. Adjusted DLI to 35.
5-7 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 This has been an amazing grow so far, the pace of growth is incredible. I’ve decided to change the light schedule to pre-flower early because of this performance. I don’t want her to outgrow my tent. She is filling in the scrog nicely. All is going well.

📆 Week 8, 15-21 June 2024
15-21 Jun - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 This was her first true week of flower. Almost all the pre-flower stretch is over now and it is time to begin the budding. Along with the height of the plant, the DLI has increased to 45 now. With this strain being sativa dominate I expect her to stay in the flowering cycle for about 9 weeks. Time will tell.

24-28 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Defoliated all large lower and damaged leaves from plant.
Checked TDS PPM on 24 June, the reading originally started at 1290, was now 455, so I decided to change solution earlier than scheduled.
Checked TDS PPM on 27 June and the reading was 390. So the nutrient solution was changed again.
Larger plants consume much more nutrients and may require a modified feeding schedule. I’ll just observe and see how she does. Some plants are sensitive to this. Again I’m talking about DWC specifically.
Her smell has intensified this week, defined by a pineapple scent! It truely does! She seems to have (so far) taken well to the early solution change.

📑 This past week was a bad week to try any updates on GD, there were too many bugs and crashes. So I decided to post today in hopes for better results. By all signs she continues to perform well and on a predictable schedule. Her smell profile is interesting and intense. I can only hope this carries into the taste as well.

This has been another good week for the Pineapple OG! She continues to swell and stack on flowers. I can’t get over the smell, it is almost addictive it is so intense. It seems there has been some great genetics put together for this variety. She still has about 4 more weeks to go!

📆 Week 12, 13-19 July 2024
13-19 July - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 This has been another good week for the Pineapple OG! She is rapidly eating nutrients and I am having to change solution about every 4-5 days now. In DWC when your original nutrient solution starts off at 12-1300 PPMs and then drops below 400 PPMs within 4-5 days, it becomes hard to understand what nutrients the plants has taken up, as this number may never get below 2-300 PPMs. So when to change solution outside of a schedule depends on a few factors, but most of all - observations, and records of the individual plant. You have to look for the subtle differences. Is it getting a little light green before changes. How does it respond to an early change, etc. The more you observe the plant the more you will learn about it. So far she has been exceptional! There are still a few more weeks to go!

📆 Week 13, 20-26 July 2024
20-26 July - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 This has been another good week for the Pineapple OG! Although it may appear the flowers are not growing in this stage, be assured they are. It takes patience not to cut too early, one has to let the plant do the talking when it comes to maturity. I can’t imagine growing one for 3 months or more and then not have the discipline to allow it to fully mature before harvest. Looking like at least a couple of more weeks to go until finish.

15 Aug - Harvested the plant (see pictures).
16 Aug - Began curing process.
💚 Thank you Seedsman Seeds for this opportunity to grow some new genetics from your line up.
📑 Pineapple OG performed well! Her total flowering time was 61 days, and veg time 49 days, for a total of 110 days seed to harvest! With an impressive yield to go with it.
From the beginning this plant was a real pleasure to grow. Fast and even spacing between leaf set the stage for strong level branching in height. Not much training was needed during the vegetative stage other than some minor defoliation. One would think this was an F1 or Auto strain with the speed of growth, but it is not. The cross breeding in terpenes has proven to be winner as the smell is very intense with pineapple and sweet tropical scents. The buds swell solid with resins especially in the last weeks of ripening, and are snow covered with trichomes at maturity. I’m sure she would have gotten much bigger had I been set up for a larger plant. I am extremely satisfied with the results produced from these genetics. and would recommend them to anyone wanting to grow a high quality product.
🔥 Smoke Report: 25 Aug - After hanging in a closet for 8 days with RH of 50% and temperature of 70 degrees F, the product was ready for trimming. I decided to try out a large tumbler that was given to me by a good friend. Glad I did! It worked out great! Cutting my trim time down to practically nothing, and making the buds look exceptionally manicured without excessive waste, I’ll continue with this method of trimming in the future.
I am pleasantly pleased with the outcome of this grow. Almost 1/2 pound of quality smoke. The buds are solid, resin filled, sticky and smell like a fruity pineapple. The high comes on kind of slow, then settles in for a smooth calming feeling, like the world just slows down a little bit. Leaving you feeling excited and relaxed, lasting for hours. Great for recreational or medicinal use.
