📆 Germination Week, 29 April through 5 May 2024
29 April - Placed 3 seeds in a cup of RO water, put in tent under light at 50% power, temp 76 degrees F.
1 May - 1st seed cracked, root appeared. Placed in RootRiot cube.
2 May - 2nd seed cracked, root appeared. Placed in RootRiot cube.
3 May - 3rd seed cracked, root appeared. Placed in RootRiot cube.
4 May - 1st sprout appeared. Waiting for main root to appear before transferring.
5 May - 2nd sprout appeared. Waiting for main root to appear before transferring.
Thank you Devine Seeds for this #3 of #4 sponsored grows and the opportunity to participate in this competition! My #2 grow would have been the Auto Pablo Escabar - but none of the seeds germinated.
📑 My experiences dealing with germinating seeds in water, they must float, they must crack/show a root within 2-3 days - or - be moved into a damp paper towel for fear of drowning the seed. If the seed sinks right away and stays on the bottom, there is a great possibility that it is bad (unless you have scratched the seed intentionally). Once in a paper towel it has just a few days to crack before mold sets in and goes bad. I also use a regular light cycle, or 24 hours of light. Germinating seeds in complete darkness 24hrs has always had unreliable results for me. This is only half the process. The other half is sprouting the seed. Moving it to a medium and watching it come out of it’s shell. Here is the heart of the plant. A lot of seeds will need a gentle hand rescue of some sort. The seed shell may get stuck on the head or the membrane lining may not peel off and require intervention. This is why some growers scratch the ends of seed prior to germination, to soften them up - it is for experienced hand. Only a seeds mature, cured freshness will determine a robust and genetic outburst of life. If that is not there, the chances of success will be slim to none.

📆 Week 1, 6-12 May 2024
6 May - 3rd sprout appeared. Waiting for main root to appear before transferring.
8 May - Main root appeared on the 1st sprout, transferred to its permanent home (see pictures).
9-12 May - Observed and watched the seedling grow.
📑 Transferred seedling into permanent Deep Water Culture, 2 gallon system. I’ve always had the best response when the main tap root appears prior to this process, it helps to ensure success. This plant seems to be getting off to a slower start, but steady.
All seeds germinated, sprouted and became seedlings. I’ll be finding homes for the other 2 as my grows are limited by space and number. Another reason I like to only germinate a single seed at a time and primarily why it needs be viable. “One good seed is all you need”.

📆 Week 3, 20-26 May 2024
20 May - Increased light power to 60%.
21 May - Cut first 2 true branches off.
22-26 May - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 I’ll always cut the the first true branches off any plant I grow. In my experience they just don’t keep up with the plants growth rate in general and only take away from it's overall potential. This plant seems to be very healthy and growing as expected, strong and fast.

27-30 May - Observed and let the plant grow.
31 May - Cut small shoots off side branches. Placed trellis frame on DWC bucket.
1-2 Jun - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 This was a good week for Pablo. She is very vigorous and healthy. I only allow the main branches to grow, cutting off any side shoots at this point and she is responding well to this method of training. I will see how she looks after another week of growth. I placed the trellis frame on to prepare her for the scrog net in the upcoming week or two.

📆 Week 5, 3-9 June 2024
3-4 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
5 June - Defoliated plant. Placed scrog ring on trellis frame. Spread branches apart. Flipped to pre-flower light cycle. Adjusted DLI to 35.
6-9 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Pablo decided she was ready for the scrog net early, as well as an early pre-flower cycle. Her growth performance has exceded my expectations, so she must bud before she out grows the tent.

17-23 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Pablo is about out of her pre-flower stretch now and into the first week of true flower. Her leaves are big and lush which makes shading a real challenge. I’ll have to defoliate soon to keep her growing evenly.

📆 Week 8, 24-30 June 2024
24 June - Defoliated
25-30 June - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Defoliated Pablo. Well, she successfully smothered out the main apex and topped herself. I gave it the final pinch to complete the process. Pablo is one of most densely packed plants I’ve grown. She is beautiful and lush, but she requires a little more attention than most.

9 July - Did a light defoliation of older leaves.
Pablo continues to stack and swell in bud growth. I’m impressed with just how big her buds are getting. Devine Seeds has some really good genetics here, and she still has about 5 more weeks to go. I see no problems what so ever up to this point.

📆 Week 13, 29 July - 4 August 2024
29 July - 4 Aug - Observed and let the plant grow.
1 Aug - Turned light power down to 65%.
📑 Pablo continues to grow and slowly mature. Trichomes were checked this week, looks like they are all milky in color with no amber at all. I decided to turn the light power down to 65% for 2 reasons: to help in maturing the plant, and to avoid any bleaching because of being too close to the light. The DLI was actually closer to 50 at the top of the canopy, so lowering the power brought it back into the 40 DLI range. She still has a couple more weeks to go.

📆 Week 14, 5-11 August 2024
5-11 Aug - Observed and let the plant grow.
📑 Pablo continues to grow! She has not slowed down in water consumption so she may need more time than expected. I’ll have to observe for another week before a decision can be made when to harvest. Being 90% sativa this is not unusual. Pistil hairs are about 75% brown (with new ones developing). Buds are bulking out, continuing to grow and swell, and trichomes are building. The smell keeps intensifying with that of a lemony sour pine.

13 Aug - Turned lights down to 50% power.
📑 It’s been another week and no signs of slowing down. Pablo continues to grow! Her sativa genetics are really showing. I’ve turned the light power down to 50% hoping this will help to mature the plant. It is looking like another good week of flower will be appropriate here. Lets see just how big she can get.

23-24 Aug - Flushed with RO water, turned lights down to 40% power.
25 Aug - Harvested the plant, began the curing process.
💚 Thank you Divine Seeds for this sponsored grow!
📑 The final week of flowering for Pablo Escobar! I gave her a good 71 days as recommended by the breeder. She grew using every one of them until the end. Another genetic hit by all means. A pleasure to grow. This is a sativa dominate variety so expect a longer flower time. You will be rewarded with thick dense buds, covered with resins and trichomes, with a sweet herb, earthy smell, nice and danky.
Began the curing process in a climate controlled closet with a RH of 53% and temp of 71deg F. The main leaves are removed before the branches are hung upside down for 7-10 days for drying. From there the buds are removed from the branches, separated, and are trimmed to remove as much leaf as possible. Then placed in quart mason jars with a 62% Boveda TerpShield packet, burped daily for about a week or until 62% RH is maintained. Then labeled and placed in a cool, dark closet for long term storage for up to about 8 months or so.
🔥 Smoke Report:
It took Pablo 10 days to slowly dry out. I cut all the buds off the branches and used my 19” Bud Trimmer for a quick finished product! I’m really impressed just how fast this trimmer works. It can take about 1/2oz or 14g at a time and with 4 or 5 turns of the handle it’s finished. Nice beautiful manicured buds in about 10 seconds. No more trim jail for me.
As for the smoke. The taste definitely is the same as the smell. Lemony or citrus. The high is definitely that of a sativa. Comes on slow, then creeps up on you hard. Stays with you for a couple of hours, needing only a hit or two to recharge the high afterwards. No doubt this strain is very high in THC, and should be taken into account for the beginner. Another genetic hit Divine Seeds!
