First week, sprouting seedlings from the seeds. This round i will grow 16 OG-Kush plants from 3 different seed houses. OG is my personal favorite! 9 plants from Hempire Seeds (NL) 4 plants from Royal Queen Seeds (NL) 3 plants from Hy-Seeds (NL) I started sprouting on 09-24-2018 and on 09-27-2018 i had 16 nice seedlings wich i planted into the 6 liter pots. I create a pocket of seedmix-soil centre top into wich the seedings are planted, then they get 300ml tap water. Then the soil is covered for a few days with foil, preventing the soil from drying to fast.

Not much to ad, some seedlings find it difficult to lose the seed-cases. Normally i help with it, but that is always a risk in damaging the fragile little buggers! I figured, in nature they have to do it on there own also... Sprouting the seeds to seedlings, i always use the 100% foolprove-coffeefilter/ziplockbag method. If there is any life left in a seed it will sprout this way. If they are old seeds you can scar them with sanding paper in the inside of a jar, and rolling the seeds in them a few times to make the cases absorb water more easy. Did not have to use that this time though. When i plant the seedlings from the coffeefilter into their pots, i leave the level of soil somewhere between 10 and 15cm lower, so i can ad soil while they grow to support themself. This way i dont need support.

This week i started on monday Oktober 8 with switching to 12/12. The first serie of pictures is from that day. The second serie of pictures is from sunday Oktober 14. The little plants are growing now for 3 weeks. I noticed the 4 seedlings from Royal Queen Seeds stay behind, but they will have there grow-spurt much later, and then catch up. On the 14th they also got 300ml each with half the ammount of the nutrients stated above. I don't give water every day because it will get me these pesky little flies (we call them "varenrouwmug").

The seeds from Hempire and Hy-Seeds seem to be similar, the plants are growing in the same manner. The 4 little plants from RQS are way behind, but i said they will catch up eventualy. See in week 7! This week i filled-up the pots with soil, and gave them only a portion plain tapwater (300ml). Further on i will give 2 nutrient solutions followed up with 1 tapwater, each with 2 or 3 days between them. End of this week 5 Hempire plants already show the first signs of flowering, later on they seem to be almost 2 weeks ahead of the rest.

This week i consider the first week of flowering, all plants but the RQS show signs of flowering. I removed my growlight and mounted the flowerlight. This week i was so buzy that i did not take any pictures. Sorry! Remember that this round i am not only using my leftover OG Kush seeds, but also i am using the last nutrients. So, i do know i am using hydroponic flowering nutrients, currently there is no money for new.Next round i wil stock up on Mills substrate and nutrients!

Week two of flowering. This week the plants got 1x nutrient solution and 1x tap water. End of the week i added some more soil to suport the ever growing plants. Also i did re-arrange the plants inside the tent, i placed the 4 RQS plants front middle on a piece of foam, so the cannope is more even. Also i started with lollipopping, i always spread this over a period of a few weeks, to reduce stress ont the plants.

This week i’d continue with lollipopping from the bottom up. My flowering light is an Scroggmaster 360 above the cannopy, below i have an additional set of Scroggmaster LED-bars, with deep-penetrating lensen to beef up production on the lower branches. With the removal of several branches, i now can direct this light upwards without LED-burning any leaves.I am almost there with lollipopping now, next week maybe a few branches.

This week 5 plants stretched against the lamp, so i supercropped them a bit..Also i removed some more branches. This time i made some overall photo's, This weekend i will try to make some photo's with the light switched off, and place some light in front of the tent. Also i will use my photo-camera instead of my crappy chinese smartphone. You will behold my plants in full glory that way! 😏😏 I notice them branching out horizontaly now, my tent is getting nice and full right now. So far so good! End of 9th week, this ends week 5 of flowering: For the photos this time i'd turned of all lights, and i’d hang them in the top off my tent. I used an external light and my normal photocamera instead of my smartphone. Again a great moment to rearange the plants to allow them get light from a different angle for while. Yesterday i noticed the leaves becomming less dark green. So they each got a shot off extra grow nutrients. Today they looked healthy and happy again. Notice that most off the 9 plants from Hempire (6/9) are still ahead of the rest. Maybe i am going to have a bit off an early harvest for hem. But it is going to take past Christmas at least, So for now there good. You can see on the closeups they’re nice and resinous allready!

Hi! 😏 Since i'm new here, my first and formost question is a safety matter. Are growers email-adresses inside this websites database encrypted while stored? So that if there would be a cyber attack of some sorts, they could not be ending up in the wrong hands. Great site, thanks

I wouldnt worry about that , the FAQ says they dont store personal information . I would say if your concerned about this sorta of thing then you should do your research on the laws in your area to make sure you're not breaking them to bad . Where I'm from its legal to grow 4 plants and that's all I'll ever be doing so I dont run into any problems . But if you're only growing a few and you dont spread the word around like mad fire to people in your day to day life no one should bother you , its a couple plants whoopty haha . You're well on your way to getting that kick ass medicine we all know and love . -I hope this information is useful , in understanding how it works on this platform . -Happy Growing !

Week 10 concludes week 6 of flowering, officially 3 weeks to go... But i guess that’s not going to happen. From 9 plants from Hempire there are 5 ahead of the rest. You can see on the pictures that 3 of them are up for an early harvest. Next weeks they need to gain weight though. As for the 3 plants from Hy-Seeds, they are pretty much same as the rest of the Hempire plants. RQS really is a bit slower, it’s amazing to see the ammount of white hairs on them. I think they are going to grow into 4 huge buds! You can see in the picture with lights on, there are 2 lower LED’s, they really help with giving enough light to the lower buds. I’d gave them all some extra grow-nutrients because the leaves were getting lighter again. Soon i expect to see the first signs of autum, or at least with the five plants that are already ahead of the rest. I also notice on the growdiaries website that we're all playing the waiting game most of the time. But it is always nice to see progression between the weeks. And i will tweak everything to get the best possible outcome. We will see next week!

End off week 11, concluding week 7 off flowering: Hi(gh) Guys! Thanks for viewing my weekly update (i hope again?)! The girls are doing great. I have to come back on a previous statement, i said that 3 girls are ahead of the rest and up for an early harvest, although that is both true, actually there straight on schedule, and i think the rest is behind. The manual on this strain says they need 9 weeks and flowering week 7 is now concluded. They start to gain weight all three and the stems are beginning to bend. This upcoming week they will get their last nutrients, but week 9 they will only get water, so i can flush properly for the upcoming week and a half. End of week 9 they will be terminated, because my vaporizer is idle for too long already! As for the rest, they will need at least 2 or 3 weeks longer, because everywhere i look i see loads of white hairs, and i’m seeing forward to show you some off my biggest nugs ever! This is my first time on this website and i’m having a lot of fun. Earlier i'd grow my best round ever with 9 Gorilla Glue #4 ladieboys, what nice buds did they produce. But i guess the OG is going to be at least as close. That’s good for me because this is my favorite strain. Please leave a comment, and like my post. My account needs a little more love! Please come and see for another update next week. (p.s. sorry for that shakie video, I was sitting on top of an little pebble with my knee, but I liked the video anyway…)

I bought 9 square plastic 11l pots, plan is to let next plants grow more horizontal instead of vertical, to have a grow period of 5/6 weeks max, and use an combination of topping from the 3rd node, and LST (bending down and ponytail) to fill my 80x80cm. What else to be considered

@budrack you may want to look at a technique called a SOG(screen of green) that essentially utilizes a bunch of younger plants very quickly put into flowering for an extremely fast return on yield. However I propose something else similar but slightly different. IF YOU HAVE THE head space I would grow these seedlings to be TALL rather than wide by topping them then creating 2 main stems then cutting all the leaves/nodes that grow outward more than a 3 inches. This will naturally train the plant to grow its nodes up rather than out and drowning your other plants. Do heavy defoliation the moment the flowering stretch is done to let the light penetrate the entire canopy. With this method you can maximize the amount of plants in a small area while also maximizing the canopy area and depth. Hope this was understandable and helps with some idea 😎

New update for week 12, concluding week 8 of flowering: Hi(gh) Folks! Thanks everyone for your input on my second grow question. I’m going for HighTV’s answer, the SOG with 9x4 main buds. Very nice to get everyone’s input on this, appreciate it! So another week done! They got their last nutrients Tuesday and on Thursday the 5 early ladies from Hempire got their first round of plain acidulated water. I flushed them a bit on Friday and Saturday to. Now they can dry out for a couple of days. I will flush them for the upcoming week and let them dry out before harvest next weekend. Im counting on them to swell up even further during this week. As for the rest of the 4 plants from Hempire, 4 from Royal Queen Seeds and 3 from Hy-Seeds, I will treat them as if this is another week 8, and they will get another dose of Flowering nutrients and PK. Then next week I will start to flush them also. I will have 2 full weeks to flush and let them dry out until my planned harvest on Saturday 5 January. I’m not even sure that will be early enough for the 4 RQS’s since they look like they have even more bud-growing to do, before they can start swelling! I will keep an eye on that. The 5 tall ladies, 2 from Hempire and 3 from Hy-Seeds show the nice thick Kushy buds i’m craving for, can’t wait to see the becoming nice and heavy! On the photos you see the slight diverence between the pheno’s, the left 2 plants grew the popcorn-buds on a stem, and the right ones have nice thick popcornbuds against the stem’s. The other to remaining Hempire plants also show these, apart from the early ladies offcourse. The early birds show a little stretching buds and nice purple colours. So next week will see the early ladies harvested, I hope? Look out for my next update and don’t forget to like! Thanks and see you!

Week 13, concluding week 9 of flowering, Kush, you know what they say? Kush is like a gentle touch, or a warm brush along your spine, that's why im into this strain, it's my favorite! (did i already say that?) I'm all with that shit! Boy, this was a busy week. I'm all stocked-up for new grow projects after this one with Mills nutrients and DNA/Mills soil with cork. So that won't do harm to my results i guess! Also the 5 plants from Hempire, the early ladies are no more! Actualy, all the photo's up to the look into my brown dryingbag are those plants. So their's that, now i owe you the first harvest report, but you have to wait, you know how it goes! Call my bag the sneak peek. The photos this time are to much to use comments, but i'd group the pics per plant. And i'd commented on the Hy-Seeds and RQS. The detailphotos are all the Hempire plants, 9 off them in total. The harvested 5, compared to the rest of the plants seem to me somewhat off. The 11 plants left behind are all what i expect of a good OG Kush, but these just seem different. They where quick, and that's to my idea partly effecting the yield. I could have waited another week, but i need new meds! The plants remaining will get a proper period to flush and dry-out. The 3 plants from Hy-Seeds are at the same place as the rest of the Hempires. The RQS are maybe one or two weeks behind. I will make detailed pictures from them both next week. I hope you enjoy my pictures, please like them or leave your comment's! All have a merry Christmas!

These 5 plants supposed to be O.G. Kush, but i think there something else. O.G. is my favorite strain, and i'd grow it a couple of times, so i think i can tell the difference. 3 from the 5 plants show some nice purps inside the buds, the pheno type not the temperature triggered ones. Don't know what this strain is, it's mediocre.

These 5 plants did'nt add much to the final overall result, they'd even lower my score on this round. Please refer to the other harvest reports for the 'motherload' 😉. One thing was that i was in urgent need of a smoke, and they fill the gap nice untill the rest is good to vape!

Week 14, concluding week 10 of flowering: This week was the first week of flushing, just with acidulated tap water. Also, last week i started taking photos from the trichomes from the Hempire plants, so this week you'll find the trichomes from both Hy-Seeds and Royal Queen Seeds plants. Nice right! I will take a proper period to flush, so next week (15) will be the second week of flushing. That last weekend will be harvest time!

Week 15, concluding week 11 of flowering and the end of this round: Hi(gh) guys! this wil be the last week comment within this round, i hope you enjoyed my diary, and i hope to see you all back at the new round. I'll be signing up for the 'Newbie-of-the-Month' contest, so please come back for the harvests and like this post! So, apart from the 5 early Hempire plants i'd already harvested, the remaining 11 plants will be terminated! When you look at the first two pictures, you see the plant from Hempire i named 'Ugly Duckling', this is a bit off an oddball! The last weeks i noticed that it suffered a bit from heatstress, it started growing a lot of little foxtails and the leave edges where curling up. Upon closer inspection i noticed that it seeded itself! Allover the large mainbud you can see seeds sticking out. The bud is nice and dense (and heavy). The other plants did'nt suffer from heatstress or seeding, so there ok. Oh my Kushness!!! The remaining 10 plants (apart from the 'ugly duckling') as you can see in the pictures are what i would expect from nice O.G. Kush! Last year (2017) my best round where 10 Gorilla Glue #4 plants, which allas! i did'nt weigh back then. My guess is that this round, looking at the 10 remaining plants, i think i did even better! They look great. The 5 early Hempire plants i'd allready harvest to my opinion are not real O.G. Kush! Maybe they got mixed-up within packaging or something but they are something different. And the ugly duckling maybe was a bad seed? That leaves at least 3 Hempire plants from the 9 that did grow into nice O.G. for detailed info on the endproduct please refer to the harvest reports i will be posting next. Thanks for following and suport, and i hope until next round!

These are 4 from a total of 9 plants from the same strain. The 5 other plants where harvested two weeks earlier. Looking at the 4 plants, and compared to the other 2 brands with the same strain, i noticed that the main buds where pretty much comparable in terms of looks and smell. Although the lower (popcorn)buds where a bit disappointing compared to the others. Also one of the four plants had a strange default causing to seed itself and suffer from heat stress, while the others had no problems like that at all. Final weight dry is 38 grams + what i allready tasted during drying was 2,75 grams = 40,75 grams total over 4 plants. What means when i would have had 16 plants of this same type, my harvest would have been 163 grams, with an avarage of 0,36 grams/watt.

Although i'm constantly trying to improve my skills, and i’m aware that there are many points that can be improved. Despite that I’m looking back at one of my best rounds, maybe even the best up until now. As for the question if I would choose Hempire O.G. Kush over Hy-Seeds or Royal Queen Seeds, I think the potention is there and some pheno’s showed nice O.G’s. But the consistency isn’t quite there yet. One major thing was the 5 atypical phenos which could’nt possibly be classified as O.G. As for my first experiences on growdiaries, I’m having a blast here! I really like the interface from this site, really easy to post weekly updates. Also a great community, I’m learning from you guys every day, thanks! Maybe one point to mention is that I find the section on tastes and effects somewhat limited and maybe a little bit cheesy.

The seeds from Hy O.G. Kush are among my favorites. They show nice consistent pheno's, with some of the biggest main buds i'd ever grow. Also not to be dismissed are the lower buds, growing right agains the main stem, and forming tasty wild-chestnut shape O.G. buds (one flat and one round side, about the same size). The dry weight of the buds was 40 grams + allready used 2,44 grams = 42,44 grams total. These where only 3 plants, would i have 16 plants of this type total would be 42,44/3= 14,15 grams/plant x 16 = 226,35 grams, with an avarage of 0,5 grams/watt.

In therms of wheight Hy-Seeds is the winner of this round. Nice bulky main buds and also popcornbuds not to be sneezed at! The phenos where very consistent, the development from the comparable 4 Hempire plants was pretty much 1:1, only the R.Q.S. was a little bit slower in developing. And another plusside is the friendly pricing compared to high-grade brands. All in all this was not the first and certainly not the last time growing this brand.

First note i have to make on these 4 Royal Queen Seeds O.G. Kush is that they were the oldest seeds laying in my fridge! Maybe that was part of the reason that they were somewhat slower than the rest, but personally i like to think of that as they take their time to develop properly. For instance didn’t these plants need any support up until almost the last week, meaning the stems where nice and sturdy supporting their own weight. The main buds where not that impressive in size, but i know this strain makes up in taste and effect. A real plus are the lower buds. Although they didn’t develop into these bulky buds against the main stem, they did form a large amount of nice buds. If i would choose to take a longer period of pre-growth and apply some advanced training, this strain must be able to deliver! Dry weight of this harvest was 38 grams + 5,34 grams already consumed = 43.34 grams total. Would i have 16 plants of this type it would be: 43,34 grams x 4 = 173,36 grams total, with an avarage of 0.39 grams/watt.

Comparing the 3 O.G. Kush brands to each other, and to pick a winner, than Royal Queen Seeds is my winner! Would final harvest-weight be the only thing, than Hy-Seeds is the winner. And real good quality O.G. Kush by the way! But the taste and effect from R.Q.S. is much more balanced and complex. Really gets a smile upon my face! The buds are not the biggest but nice and dense, even the lower ones. The taste has a nice citrus undertone, and the Pine-bomb and a little fuelly you'd expect with O.G. Kush. Love this! Now everything sits in the C-Vaults together with the Boveda-packs. I guess the weight is gonna be even more when properly cured, since i waited untill they where bonedry. Previously i noticed it would be better to cure from bonedry material with Boveda. Thank's for your support, and i'll hope to see you back next grow! Greetings Budcrack

@HighTV, thanks for you answer! Maybe this is what i had in mind anyhow, but calling this a scrogg was not in place. I did not thought of trimming everything down to the main stem. And maybe, given the space above 1x 11l pot, i should either Fim very early, or top and save 4 main branches. Either way i will end up with 9x4=36 main buds. That way stretch is even more reduced than with 2 stems. I called my 16x small plant setup, as my current, a Sog but that is also not true. Great answer! ;-)

Let me explain this: Given my medical condition i need to max the ammount i can harvest from 1 round, because i need it to cover the time untill next harvest. So my goal is also to optimize the length of the cycle. Also my growconditions here let me grow from September untill May, so 9 months, what also means i need to cover 3 months without a harvest. And i want to make 3 rounds in that time, at least. I found that more smaller plants are much faster than fewer large ones. So i focussed on SOG'able strains. But at least in my setup i can't get larger harvest's that way. But these strains are not right to make a Scrogg with, but Bruce Banner is! And to up the harvest i need to go for it. So, i can't have a much longer pre-grow than 4 weeks (4 rounds in 9 month's is better) to achieve more with fewer plants (9 instead of 16). To go to 6 plants would take even longer pre-grow. I am willing to make consessions to reach the sweetspot, but that way 4 rounds is never possibe. I plan on topping the B.B.'s real early to reduce early stretch to the minimum, and grow bushy plants.

@Budcrack,if you seperate the grow from germination up to week 4 after sprouting in another space. you save a lot of weeks until restart and what do you mean withminimize pregrow period=? lets talk per pm in your right corner of the screen is a paperplane click and a private section opens

@Mrs_Larimar, the 16 smaller 6 liter pots contain aprox. 100 liter, and the 9 pots from 11 liter also. My average plantheight is 80cm, and i have double space. Also because i can up the light agains the ceiling completely, they can stretch a bit. Maybe i need to minimize pre-grow period?

@Mrs_Larimar, no, but i can pre-grow outside the tent though.

No, photoperiod, not auto's. Yeah i was thinking about a scrognet. Then my main goal is to get the scrognet full in the least amount off time. I have from januari to max. 1/2 June to grow another 2 rounds; first 9 Larry Bird Kush, then 9 Bruce Banners in that same setup. I want to aim at last harvest begin June. Also, i want to tie the stems down from the start and try to grow low and wide to get the most even canopy. I worry i'm able to achieve that with the scrogglicht.

I did some background reading on Larry Bird Kush (as clone known as Gelato #33). I realise now that it's not going to work. I will do the Larry Bird later, and start off with the Bruce Banner after the OG. I expect BB to be up for my plan!

Hi , some words to the Asian LIghtcompanies and their Products.( for exampleMars and Viparspectra ) The lights have Phantasienames like mars.. reflector 300----- and the real wattage is 100w or the ...600 has 400 w and so on. The true wattage you can only read in very small lines in a productdescription. For me your 400w led dont work like 400 w. and if you planing to grow 9 plants you have to doubleup your light ( with the same product) you will need to have minimum true 300 Watt. greetings
Budcrack
Budcrackcommented6 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, but they are low in intensity compared to modern LED's, but the form makes up for that.

@Budcrack,ok ive been reading about the scrogmaster, and it seems that these are true 360 watt thats very good, i apologise for my post before^^. I just looked at the plants and they were kind of leggy and stretched. that is a sign for lack of light. Or did you take the 150 w up to there i see no big effect of your 360 watt that is what i wanted to say

Budcrackcommented6 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, I don't know exactly what the real wattage from my lamps are, but i have an Scroggmaster 360 together with an aditional 90 watts from the sides. But i think the fact that it lights evenly over the entire canopy is a big deal, even given the lower micromols intensity. Now it's on me to get the most out of it.

Hi there @budcrack, i'm not sure how you plan on having a "grow period of 5/6 weeks", but many autos will take 8 weeks and most will take more than that. Your plan otherwise sounds great, i would say you could consider a SCROG set up with a fixed screen (instead of netting) , you can usually get at least 2x the yield scrogging instead of SOGing - hope this helps pal ! 🚀

CRiSPrGrowcommented6 years ago
@Budcrack, ah i see now 👍 just bear in mind my gorilla glue was an auto so it was on it's own schedule not mine 👍 the best (yield) results i've seen is when folks "grow" aka veg aka vegetation period for 7 to 8 weeks - so i would say that's plenty of time, if you're in a rush you can probably get away with even less time ! good luck brother ! you're 10/10 as it is ! 🚀

Budcrackcommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, you had a grow period of 5 weeks with your auto gorilla's to, so i don't know what you'r telling me about 8 weeks minimum? Question is if that's long enough to develop enough branching to make optimal use of the grow-spurth in early flowering, and thus get a full scrognet?
