So the plant has taken off like a rocket ship. Can't believe the growth it's had over an 8 day period. Switched to flower earlier than i would have liked but I have limited space in the tent, and need to manage height. I've always kept within the suggested nutrient range, but I've been advised to blast the Bloom, so I added a shit load more. I'll see if I get nutrient burn on any of the leaves but so far there hasn't been anything to worry about.

It's been a wonderful week. The boost in nutrients had no burn on the leaves, but a huge increase in growth. They are moving at about 3cm per day now, this could partly be due to the switch from metal halide to HPS. I increased the nutrients again. Planning at capping the bloom at 40ml per 10L but we'll see what happens. Have spotted a problem with my bubbleponic setup. The tubes I have fitted around the top could be too small. Definitely need to use larger cups next time, too.

From week 2 to 3 in flower the plant took off and almost shot itself into the light overnight. Upped the bloom nutrients to 36, interested to see how the plants handle it. I have maxed the height in the tent, reflector is on the top of the tent and the plants are 20 to 24cm away. Can't do much about the height so managing the heat between the bulb and plants.

The ladies have really started to show their potential over the past week. Have 10 stems with about 300 buds starting to form, should see some thick colas forming in the coming weeks. Started to drop the Gro nutrient and upped the Bloom again, so I'm sitting at 40ml per 10L. Am I going to high? The plants haven't had any negative reaction... Should I go higher? Will definitely need to do a 5 day flush at the end of the grow to clean this out.

Both ladies have started the early stage of swelling. Looking slightly larger every few days. Did the final 5ml bloom bump, rest of the grow will stay at 45ml/10L based on a friend's grow; started to get nute burn at 48ml. Will consider toning down the Gro in the last 2 weeks.

Grow Questions

I am running a 65 litre buppleponic & dwc system with flora series nutrients. My question is, at what stage should I consider flushing the plant to reduce nutrient uptake before harvest? I have read anything from 1 week to 3 days. Thanks in advance.

one of the good things about hydro is you can flush for less time so you can be more precise right ? Even just one day is enough, really, one day to three days works... i'm following someone on here flushing a hydro grow for three weeks... but yeah one day to three days... you can tell when you're ready when the plant kinda gets forced in senescence you'll know you're ready. hope this helps ! 🚀

Week 6 | Day 63 to 69 | Flowering 38 to 44 I've seen a significant increase in the size of the buds from last week. The swelling continues and I am hoping it carries on for another 2 weeks. Would be great to end up with thick colas after such an exciting grow. This is probably the week to mention that these are the best looking plants I've had in the past 5 grows. Must have done something better this time round (I did start using silicon in the veg stage this grow). Was considering pumping up the Bloom to 50ml/10L but they are looking so good I don't want to risk the nutrient burn.

Week 10 | Plant day 70 to 76 | Flower day 45 to 51 Swelling continued over the past week to fatten the colas a bit more. I think that will slow down over the next few days as the plant focuses more on maturing. trichome development has been positive, I bought a macro lens for my phone and managed to capture the early stages of the clear trichomes. looking forward to tracking them turn white. heat wave where I live brought the temperatures up. day cycle has been 29C and night is 24C. Some leaves on plant 1 turned yellow, the tips dried and went brown. think it might be a Zinc problem?

Week 11 | Plant day 77 to 83 | Flower day 52 to 58 A series of unfortunate events happened in the last week. Heat wave crossed with a severe light leak in my tank meant that 1 plant shrivelled up and was on its was out in a matter of days. left plant is now gone. managed to salvage some bud from it but it is not very mature. probably 3 weeks behind where it needed to be when I harvested. Shit happens I guess. all focus is now on the remaining plant. there are 5 main colas with side growths. my target of 300g for this run will now need to be reduced to 150g dry from one plant. the buds are very fat and trichomes are starting to turn milky. I'm going to wait until all of them are snow white before I start my flush. will flush for 3 days with plain ph balanced water before harvest. hopefully by then I'll have a few amber tips to bring in some flavour from the CBN.

Week 11 | Plant day 84 to 90 | Flower day 59 to 65 high ambient temps have made it difficult to keep my water temp down. Water should be around 22C but I'm at 27, so bacteria build up is something I need to keep an eye out for. trichomes are starting to turn more milky, I'm waiting on the first sign of amber tips before I start the flush. looking for a little bit of CBN when I harvest.

Week 12. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

Plant was very resilient to heat, humidity and changes in nutrients and pH levels. I didn't have the most stable system, started out with 2 plants and had light leak into my tank effect the roots of 1 plant. By the time I had resolved the problem the plant had to be snipped- unfortunate but I got 63 grams off of plant 1. Plant 2 was more successful and was able to harvest at week 12- it gave me a total of 188 grams! Off of 1 bloody plant in hydro, definitely my best result to date. The smoke has some smooth flavour profiles, with a good body and head mix. Super happy with the plant and it's genes.

Strain was a lot of fun to grow. I found it very hardy which helped a lot through my grow- It is the middle of summer where I am and daily temps are 35C with evening temps at 25C. Root damage near the end of flower due to heat and light didn't help one bit! However, I would definitely recommend this strain to any grower who is looking to maximise their yield in a small space, if everything had gone according to plan I would have yielded over 350grams from a 400W MH/HPS combo. Keep your light close to the plant with direct airflow and this strain is happy to push fat colas.

calcium deficiency bro, try to spray on cal mag without hitting the flowers , should stop spreading pretty quick
ThatZimbo
ThatZimbocommented6 years ago
Really think it's calcium? I've been using calmag throughout the grow to try and regulate it. will give it a bump in the next top up and see if that helps. I have another concern with the bottom leaves turning yellow. Is that a nitrogen deficiency?

Nice harvest!! I got a dinafem blue cheese as a freebie promo from the bank and I am glad I did. It ended up being in my top 10 of my favorite smokes. I will definitely order more of her in the future when my seed supply dwindles. My plant took on more of the blueberry vs cheese pheno.

flush up to three days, but some growers say five, end of the day the plant will tell you when it's ready right? message me if you have any Qs 🚀
Athos
Athoscommentedweek 86 years ago
To answer your question: For hydro it is 2 or 3 days. For coco 1 week and for soil 2 weeks. The question is when to start? After the calyxes have swelled and the pistils start retracting, then you flush.

@Mrs_Larimar, Hi there! I'm currently on day 33 of flower, planning on harvesting around day 60, so definitely got a few more weeks to go. I think they'll be good around the first week of Feb, but we'll have to see how they do. These girls are a clone of a friends, I am 17 days behind him and I've seen his swell in the past 10 days. So another week or so till the ladies fatten up.

I think it's time to start the flush buddy 👍 Our Blue Cheese has filled out really well, get that flush started my friend. Harvest is approaching fast 👌 Thank you for the diary update, please keep then coming prior to harvest 👍 All the best ✌️ Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, thank you for the kind words, Mark! Only niggle I struggled with on the plants was height due to my setup. Otherwise the strain was fantastic. I managed 188g dry bud from 1 plant and 63g from the other. Lower heat and a more stable environment, I reckon that 400g is achievable! Unfortunately I can't get reliable delivery of Dinafem seeds in South Africa, so have to go with what is available. Thanks again for the feedback, I'll definitely grow from Dinafem again. Cheers!

@ThatZimbo, Now that's feedback we love to hear and let's us know we are doing our job correctly 👌 You really did an amazing job with our Blue Cheese my friend, bug fat buds dripping in trichomes and a very respectable end yield 👊 What did you get close to 350g from a 400w light? Think if you did not have the heat issues 👍 You would have easily smashed that magic g/watt 👍 What a great end to a great diary 👊 Time to chill out and enjoy that dank and frosty end product 👌 All the best ✌️ Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, It's not been a month since harvest and the buds have been curing in quart jars with 62% Bovida's. Holy shit does it smoke well. Full of berry flavour and a light smoke with little cough. Very impressed with the strain and will definitely grow again. 😀

For just 35 days into bloom those flowers are looking fantastic. Really starting to swell up now and with roughly 25 day's remains they still have plenty of time to pack on even more weight 👍 Very impressed so far my friend and please keep the updates coming we want to see how this ends 👊 All the best ✌️ Mark..
