Trying to start my first grow but having problems. I'm using Roots organic Soilless Coco mix in 3 gal Phat Sacks. 1 plant looks good but seems stunted the other 2 look quite bad yellow and brown on leafs brown spots dry and cracking . I am using GH flora trio and CaliMagic. pHing to 5.5-5.8 but now that I am watering to runoff at start of week 3 I have runoff pH of 6.6-6.8 even though I am putting it in at 5.5-5.7. I think I have nutrient lock out . I flushed a spare 3 gal pot from the one that didn't sprout with 3 gal of water ph'ed to5.5 but still get 6.7 -6.8 runoff . I will try to figure out how to add pics but really am struggling here any ideas would be welcome.

Howdy there @Inganjawetrust The first thing to do is determine if you actually have nutrient lock out then go from there. If you are starting to see a rust-like Necrosis(dying) of the leaves on the larger fans leaves then this is the primary sign of PH fluctuations which can cause Nutrient lockout among other things. The simplest way to avoid this is to feed half as much twice as often - this lets you readjust the PH twice as often reducing the window change significantly. However if you are NOT experiencing the Necrosis as I mentioned above then the symptoms of nutrient lockout you are experiencing are not due to PH fluctuations, but rather a buildup of nutrients in your coco. EITHER WAY the best solution to a nutrient lockout is to flush your plant with pure water PH'ed at 5.8 for a few days. If you have access to a flushing additive these can assist in breaking down nutrient salt buildups to speed the flushing process along (However this is option to save time). Be sure to update us with the results @Inganjawetrust! 😎

A very tough week had to transplant the girls into great lakes water only soil mix as the coco mix I had was causing a lock out that I could not correct no matter how much flushing I did. Had no time or privacy to set up a new coco mix so was either a transplant to soil or watch them die as they were crashing fast. They also had to deal with a 9 hr power outage the day after the transplant. And I wasn't even home to stabilize their environment. I will probably have little or no yield if by somehow they actually survive all the abuse but I will have learned a lot to use on my second try.

Another good week. On day 29 the girls got a tea made with worm castings and molasses then bubbled for 24hrs. They really seemed to like it as they had grown a inch by morning and were looking more robust than ever. I also top dressed their pots with the left over solids. At the end of this week I will Brew them another tea designed for bloom as at the end of this week they were starting to get pretty hairy🤗 I would like to give it to them sooner but I am trying to go two weeks between teas.Considering it was just 2 1/2 weeks ago when I thought they would not last more than a few days more I could not be more pleased with their amazing comeback. I can only imagine what they would be like today if they had not had those troubles. I can't wait to see what the coming weeks will bring 🤞👍 😎

A good week. Mostly spent it spreading out the bud sites and evening up the canopy. Since the transplant at about day 18 only given the girls plain water and the one veg tea. This weekend they will get a bloom tea. I worry about # 2 being in only a one gallon pot it's my fault for not having faith in her but I really didn't think she would survive. Oh well learned my lesson there. I did notice a slight hint of Pepe Le Pew this week🤗 thought that was kinda cool. After nearly 50 years of disassembling buds it is F**king awesome seeing how they are created. I am truly loving this experience and just hope I can get the girls over the finish line🤞 If the breeders 11 to 13 week time line for this strain is correct I am at least closing in on the half way point 😎 👍

This was a tough week for the girls. After getting a tea designed for bloom they pretty much went into neutral and didn't seem to progress at all for a few days. Then they seemed to start growing again but that's when the leaf issues started appearing. My first thought was a Phosphorus deficiency but that didn't make any sense to me as that bloom tea was loaded with it. Unless somehow they couldn't uptake it. I started asking some folks on this site who seem quite knowledgeable and helpful . I was then lead to believe I was over watering. I had been giving the girls 12to16 oz of water just about every day for weeks and they were looking and growing great. And after 24 hrs the pots seemed very lite to me. I was told that I should be going close to a week between watering. I bowed to the experts but as you can see by the last couple of pics I uploaded of #1s leafs after 48hrs without water that that didn't seem to pan out. I know this soil mix should have been larger pots to be able to sustain them to the end but it was too late when I realized that to repot them again. I figured with the tea to help them along they might make it. Or maybe some liquid organic nutes. Which I might pick up this week because it seems to be getting to the point where I probably don't have much to lose as I don't think that they will last to the finish the rate things are going. This is getting to be one hell of a bumpy ride. I have learned a lot but am going to have to learn some more if I am going to get these girls across the finish line. I just hope it's not already too late for them. Onward ever onward. I will continue to update as things progress.

The week really seemed to fly by. The girls continue to progress. Very cool to see the frost forming on the flowers. The smell on the fingers after touching the buds is heavenly very fresh and clean with a slight hint of citrus.🤗

Another week of slow but steady progress for the girls . Last week I started using an old kitchen scale to weigh the girls to determine when they need watering. Before their first weigh in I let them dry till they were just starting to slightly wilt then just added a few ounces to those weights to set bottom limit. So far it's been going pretty well and has allowed me to really dial in the watering with them getting more at a time but less frequently.

An other week that seemed to fly by. The girls are doing good . Looking at the trichomes daily ,most are clear but at least 25% are cloudy. My guess is that #3 will finish first then #1 followed by #2 But they tend to surprise me at every turn so we will see how it plays out over the next week or so.

As you can see in the pics #3 was processed this week. The buds are not as dense as I would have hoped but not too airy and both #1+#2 seem like they will have much denser ones. I will find out in another week or so🤞😀. I will wait until all 3 girls are cut to consider the grow harvested. While it's too early yet to sample the bud I must say the scissor hash was awesome and the dry sieved from the trim is very tasty also

Although I only got a hair over 2oz from the 3 plants I take full responsibility for the low yield as I made many mistakes over the course of the grow. The fact that they took all of my abuse and still survived is a testament to how hardy this strain is. I will definitely try them again as I am sure I can do even better next time with the little I have learned off this first grow.

My best advice would be to get a bag of soil and start over in soil ... Then after getting used to Cannabis farming you will understand how it works and will be able to grow on soilless....

Hi @Inganjawetrust! Something is wrong with your medium, you probably have some salts buildup impacting the pH. There's only one solution to solve this: flush your medium. Give it a good flush with ~50% of the container's capacity, only plain pH'd water (5.8 is fine). Help the medium to dry with a small fan blowing a continuous breeze on the container, and see how it goes after a few days. What nutrients have you been giving, at what frequency, what was the EC? Please give us more info about the past feedings so we can help you adjusting those parameters. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

hey @Inganjawetrust , i'm guessing you're using some sort of root juice right? sometimes these things are based from kelp / sea weed and they raise the PH in the medium leading to the PH fluctuations causing lock out. You want to start replacing that feed with either an enzyme like canazym or something like humic + fluvic acid (chelation agents) that will do the same thing, but wont cause problems, and actually they should fix this. Hope this helps ! 🚀
the end.
