15.07.2024: After the last not so succesfull try with the "Glass of Water" I now go with the "Paper Towel" method. Bag with the towel lies on the windowsill in the sun. Lets see... 17.07.2024: Wow, that was quick. The shell is broken and a root about 1 cm long is already visible. Now hop hop into the Jiffy! Perfect conditions in this raini and cloudy summer in Germany. Direct Sun all day long... 20.07.2024: This little lady is making me quite happy. She is growing as expected and alread 1,5 cm out of the soil. I prepared a new home for here.

21.07.2024 - Suprise, surprise the conditions on the windowswill seemd to be perfect as well as the last 24 h in the grow tent with 25% light = 30 W I found a 3 cm long root looking out of the Jiffy why I dropped 2 ml of the Piranha fertilizer in the planting hole and plantet the small seedling direkt into his final 8 liter "Gronest" fabric pot. Exhaust fan is still disabled, while a small 5V USB Fan is running (mainly to cool the Light). One of the fresh air openings is 25 % open. In general I have to be sensitve with humidity in the soil as it seems to be a bit to wet. The squeez test (squezing the soil and see if some water drops out) is ok. Well, the high tempretures at the moment in and around the tent will fix this soon. Blumats are still disabled. 23.07.2024 - I found (again) little, little micro spiders running around on the top of my soil. I guess they are some kind of mites living in the soil. They never touched my other plants and they dont touch this little one so I accept them as part of the microorganism - living soil - environment. Who I cant accept are the fungus gnats (Trauermücken)!! I found four on my yellow sticker... I took one tabelspoon of sugar cane molasses in 50 ml warm water (for all the micro organisms in my soil) together with some SF-Nematodes and vaccinated my soil. 26.07.2024 - Soil Humidity is under control. Blumat clay tones are adjusted well now. Put 4 ml Silic Rock in my water tank mixed with ~3 Liter tap water (thats a slightly higher mixture than recomentet by Plagron), so the soil is feeded with silicon and prevent silicon deficiency (Silizium). What do you think about mit light shedule? 40 / 45 Minutes before / after the main light is turned on/off the purple "grow light" turned on to simulate a bit of a sunraise and sunset. Sunrise: 05:30 - 06:10 Grow light: 06:00 - 23.30 Sunset: 23:15 - 23:59

Agreed. This is possibly a good hypothesis to test, but the effect would be small if there is one. If you can find professional research that it provides some benefit, go ahead. But, i wouldn't trust anecdote from someone's home garden experience. Simply not a proper sample nor consistent enough with all the variables invovled to rule out volatility for what is seen in a small scale with uncontrolled variables. I'm not trying to shit on your idea. Many others have done it too. If you like it, it certainly won't hurt anything, as long as you maintain same DLI as before. Plants react pretty fast to light. that would probably be somethign you can read into to help.. if leaves 'wake' up in a matter of seconds or minutes in reaction to light, then even less likely this ramp up/ramp down of light would have any effect worthwhile. there may be existing knowledge out there that is not a specific test of this idea but could help either support it or rule it out. What you defnitely shouldn't base this on is "it happens in nature" Lots of less efficient things happen in nature. that's a flip of a coin even if one side is slightly weighted. If you do do it, one thing i'd stress is to do a rough calculation of how much DLI you are losing by doign this and adjust accordingly... contineu to provide the same DLI as before. This may take slightly more power from the light once it is "full day" light, or maybe just 30mins longer running time to compensate for the energy that was lost due to the slow amping up and down of power at endcaps of day. Chances are that loss of DLI will have a more profound effect than any potential benefit of this.

28.07.2024 1st Week is over, and the little plant is developing excellent. Nice large leaves and if it's true that the diameter of the whole leaves reflects the diameter of the roots, they must have reached my self-mixed living soil (the planting hole was filled with organic soil from the grocery). Improved light intensity to 50 % = 60 w 😎 Watering system works ok. I had to adjust it a bit here and there. Until now, it seems ok for a week vacation, but to simply plug the cones in the soil and go away - no chance. Humidity raised due to the wet towel I hang in the tent in front of the fan and the over all high temperature this week. 30.07.2024 I checked the pH value of the water with such test strips. I think it's a good 7. I sprinkled a few crumbs of my citric acid into the water and lowered it to about 6. 01.08.2024 I'm tired of wetting the towel all the time, so I just poured some water into the bottom tray. 😁 Works well. 03.08.2024 I removed the remaining water from the water tank and cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and also rinsed the water hoses with the solution. But I filled the water tank again with normal tap water. Again pH 7. I still have fungus gnats (flies) on my yellow trap. I have ordered a new portion of SF nematodes and a small bag of predatory mites.

03.08.2024 Take a teaspoon of sugar cane molasses and 2 ml of "Piranha" fertilizer together with some crumbs of coffee grounds and make the microorganisms, the fungi and the whole plant happy. 😍 The slightly curling leaves and the purple stem on three leaves convinced me to change the distance of the lamp from 40 cm to a good 55 cm. As well as I used some coffee ground as a source for phosphor. 👆 05.08.2024 The fungus gnats (flies) are really getting on my nerves. I put nematodes in the soil over a week ago, but the flies are still there. 💩 New nematodes arrived today and I'm going to use them straight away. 💀 A small bag of Amblyseius cucumeris (predatory mites) also arrived, which I immediately put near the plant (with contact) as a preventative measure. 💀 10.08.2024 During the week she grow up a lot (total high 28 cm) so I decided to top her (after the 5th knot) and put the 10 cm left over as a cutting in some water. 11.08.2024 She developed quite good over night (after the topping) so I decided to also low stress her a bit with this red angles to bend down the remaining branches. Overall, she is looking quite healthy and well feeded to me. Light: 50 % = 60 w' Distance: ~ 50 cm

17.08.2024 Well, during this week nothing super exiting happend. The lady has recovered well from the topping and the first LST, so the time has come to defoliat and LST her bit more. Beside this red right angles I also used some "soft garden tie" to bend the benches down. After this she doesnt look quite happy but well, after some hours we´ve beend friends again. 😘 I put 5 ml sugar cane molasses with 2 ml of Piranha and 2 ml Silic Rock into some warm water and direct on the plant, today. 18.08.2024 Switched to 12/12 - Now I´m going on vacation for a week+. Now Blumate its on you! 25.08.2024 WORST CASE SZENARIO happend. The lady went out of water (10 liter reservoir). Look how thirsty and said she looks. 😵 :fingercrossed: she will recover (1/2 Liter of tab water) plus reactivating the Blumate Carrots. Light: ==== 75 % = 90 w Distance ~ 50 cm

26.08.2024 overnight and with some more water she recovered well. Some damaged leaves but no substantial damage. I removed the damaged once, flushed my water system (Blumat) with H2O2 and back to plan. This lady is realy taff! 😍 As a reward she got some Silic Rock and Phosporus Plus. 28.08.2024 I introduced the grow net. Four very nice head buds are developed. 👊 31.08.2024 I defoliated damaged leaves and also the once covering lower flowers.

02.09.2024 Update: New Flower week. 03.09.2024 I check from time to time if leafes covering flowers and remove them (if they are no sugger leafes). I also slowly change my light shedule to 8 pm - 8 am so I have more time at the afternoon and in the morning to care about the tent and the plant. 😍

10.09.2024 I´m super proud how smooth everything is going. Beside some sciarid flies everything fine. 🙌 Here and there I have prepared some special meal for my dear. 😆 She got some compost tea (around 2 liters) as well as some (dry) compost on top together with some sugger cane melasse. I continue also the Phosporus Plus and the Slici Rock fertilicer but not in the water tank anymove. I give it directly mixed with some water to the roots. I notice in the watertank there is some slime on the surface and it also blocke the water hose once, so I only pure water from now on.

16.09.2024 It's challenging to bring the humidity down. The dehumidifier now running 24/7 to try to bring down the humidity into the room (I try to bring down the huminty in the room and keep the door closed, so the tent will soak in the dryer air) to some 55% what would be perfect for the 26 °C in the room, I guess.
