dropped 2 seeds of lemon orange from green house and 2 seeds of paradise pine in glass of water, transferred to soil with taproot, and this first picture is from first visible leaf. 4 or 4 seeds germinated! This girl is my half of a paradise pine. A friend will be completing the other with different strategy.

This seedling will stay in my mini grow case with 40w lights until my 2x4 tent is free. So the goal is this gal to grow slowly and healthy.

Up-potted from a minuscule hand sized pot to a 3 gallon. There is a possibility this will be the final up-potting for this girl. Not sure yet. Target PPFD is 300 for Day 1. Target PPFD is 330 for Day 2. DLI at Day 5 is ~50. I am very impressed with this particular genetics so far. She is showing significantly more positive response to her environment than cousins currently in the tent. Very excited to see this original Humboldt County genetics grow 😃

This particular pheno is impressive already to me. The veg growth is very even with little input from me. And the color of the plant is so different from the other two in the tent. She's definitely my current favorite. Topping will occur once the plant vegs out a bit more. Week 4 Day 4 - topped lower branches

Was actually hoping to up - pot to a 5 gallon fabric tonight but did not achieve. Hopefully, the issue-less streak continues on.

More LST and defoliation as needed to keep the leaves off the dirt and in the light. Will likely move the 'bud clips' back to paradise pine shortly as it is growing vertically a little faster than her neighbors. The plan onward is to allow the plant to grow vertically and defoliate as leaves block bud sites.

Paradise Pine is not nearly as bushy as its tent mate. However, this plant is quite dank already in its veg state. Any time I mess with it the smell just hangs around my hands for the rest of the day it seems. Very strong pine smell with a hint of citrus. Need to make some more clones of this plant I think.

This girl continues to catch my eye. She's a little light in color from a bit too much light (can see the darker shades of green where the leaves were covered temporarily by the scrog net). But she is dank. Touching her results in smell on my hands for the rest of the day. And she appears to have a hollow stem! So very excited to see the result from this girl. I'm making sure I have a healthy pair of clones before switching her to flower in two weeks.

Growth is healthy and this paradise pine has an impressively strong smell after rubbing her stems. Very excited to see where it goes. However...my small nutrient amendments in attempt to correct her color have so far failed. Her sisters are a healthier green compared to the lime color of this one. But...are also not quite as dank or promising. After feedings she develops healthy color on some leaves and not others. After defoliation in preparation for flower I found that this girl has hollow stems which is very exciting. I will apply a CalMag foliar spray just before lights off Day 1 to attempt to address slight purple tips and her colors. This week should've been week1 of Flower (no way to change this entry at this point...that I can find)

This week 1 of flower entry is actually week 2. But I can't seem to edit my previous week's entry. So going forward the week entry for flower is +1 for just Paradise Pine. This girl decided on her own last week (beginning) to flip to flower. Possible reasons for this flip: 1. langbeinite feeding 2. too much light (this plant was the tallest in the tent and close to exceeding 60dli) 3. cold temperatures (namely direct contact with floor...need to fix this) 4. root issues? I hope not...

Paradise Pine seems to be a fast flowering plant. The bud development is markedly ahead of her tent mates. Time will tell...I'm sure to learn more over the next two weeks. No issues noticed with her this week.

I’ll add nute details later. This girls leaves are transitioning to a yellow in the top part of the canopy. I think I’ll drop the nutrient amount significantly for her next watering on Day 4. I also reduced the light output by 20%. I think it is possible she prefers less light as maturing

Leaves are yellowing on this girl but they have a reddish tinge that doesn’t seem to come through photos well. I think this coloration is just a natural maturing process for this particular genetic. I can’t be certain until a few more subsequent grows. I do know she was bred entirely outdoors. So growing her indoors is potentially a unique experience. Her terp profile is fantastic. Fruit is the dominate scent. There’s maybe a little skunk in there. But by far fruit/fruit punch dominate the terp profile. I think she has about a week or so left.

Most all trichomes at the peaks of the plant bud are clear and some are cloudy. I’m hoping this paradise pine has 2 weeks left at this point.

I’m worried this plant is a bit past due. But I cannot harvest until the end of this week. I’m concerned about this plant’s color. I want to say it is the natural aging process. But others grown indoors turn purple leaves quickly. She does smell majestic though. Very fruity with a little bit of skunky/funky. Looking forward to the finished product. Checking trichomes appears to indicate that this plant has a little while to go. Seems a little strange as most everything else about the plant says ‘ready’.

Trichomes are slowly starting to amber. But the vast majority are cloudy. Based on the decay of the leaves, I will be harvesting this plant the end of this week 9(10) She was cut down on 12/18. The terp smell from this plant is strong and unique. I can only describe it as a skunky, sour fruit. Maybe 9.5/10 on the strength of smell scale...I had a headache after cutting just this one plant down. Very much so looking forward to the end product. Update to come in a couple of weeks after cure.

Challenging strain to grow. Sensitive to light, nutes, and soil. But the smell is immense in strength and content. Got a headache harvesting just one plant from the overwhelming sour fruit punch smell. I’m determined that I can improve on the process for this plant. As it smokes and smells but looks eh.

Looks ugly (my fault) but she smokes and tastes great. Fruit punch flavor dominates. Smell is sour berries. Effect is very energetic but still pleasant.

What are you using to get those light ppfd and dli map readings?
Kenn0rphan
Kenn0rphancommented2 months ago
@Soil_Chef, I am pairing UT383BT light meter with my phone and using PPFD meter app. It's quite handy for the cost! The Migro guy reviewed the accuracy compared to an apogee and found it very close.

@PersonalSmok3s, Topped her third node off. Hoping this gives me 4 strong branches to begin further training
Kenn0rphan
Kenn0rphancommented6 months ago
@PersonalSmok3s, I was gonna "mainline" this one but I really know nothing about this plant. So I am gonna top the third pair of nodes and then later on top each of those branches for 8 colas
the end.
