Susquihanna As Week 3 begins, I want you to know that I have grown a few plants before and have always used Fox Farm Fertilizer and Ocean Forest Potting Soil. That being said, I am willing to try something else another time--I just don't know what:) Today, I have made my nutrient solution in a 5 gallon bucket. I put 10 tbsp of each: Fox Farm Grow Big, Tiger Bloom Buds and Blooms and Big Bloom Liquid Plant Food made from earthworm Castings and Bat Guano. Yes, I mix all three together, a little unconventional but that is me. I fed this plant one time this week.

Susquihanna this week my Skunk plant has some brown places on its leaves. I am not sure what this is from. Also, my skunk plant grew a little crooked??? The place where I topped it showed a lot of growth.

Susquihanna So, my "Skunk" puppies are always curious to see what I am doing when I am gardening. They are mischievous and would destroy my plants if I didn't have a fence around them. Miss Skunk grew 4 inches this week! And my two new branches grew a lot, too. I took a picture of my hand behind one of the lateral growths. I think it is doing very well. They grew about 1 inch this week. I started nutrients this week.

Susquihanna It rained a lot this week and I did not give my plants any nutrients because they were too wet. I let nature take over for the week and we are looking good! One thing I really like about this plant is its two colas. My friend helped me pinch it correctly --this is a new technique for me and I was a little scared I wouldn't pinch in the right place.lol I am curious to see what each cola produces.

Susquihanna This week we had an unexpected hail storm! The weather broke one of my colas-just snapped in 1/2. My husband found the broken stem and taped it back together and put wire ties around it. time will tell how my skunk plant will recover. It's a little sad:(

So, we had an unexpected hail storm this week and the weather broke one of my colas!! My husband taped it back together and wired tied it! LOL. I am wondering if there is any chance that healing can take place AND how will this effect my remaining cola and buds??

Hey Growmie, Man, hailstorms can be savage, sorry to hear one of your colas took a hit! But honestly, it sounds like you and your husband did exactly what you should’ve by taping and zip-tying it back together. Cannabis is super resilient, and if the break wasn’t completely severed and the tissues are still in contact, there’s a good chance it can heal. You might see it form a hard knuckle where it broke, that’s just scar tissue, and it means she’s bouncing back. Even if that specific cola ends up stunted or doesn't fully recover, your plant will redirect energy to other buds, and those can end up beefing up even more. Sometimes that kind of stress actually increases resin production, so you might come out with an even frostier harvest. Just keep an eye on it for signs of wilting or mold, and make sure the area stays supported and dry. You’re still in the game, Growmie, one broken cola won’t stop your harvest!

Susquihanna So after the hailstorm last week, one of my colas were broken. I taped it together and used wire ties to hold it together and it has survived. It continued to grow an inch and is flowering! I thought for sure I had lost this cola. I also used the "question" forum here on grow diaries regarding my broken cola and like the responses I received. We have had some very cool nights and warm days but my Skunk has continued to thrive. The one thing I think is very interesting to notice is how crooked the buds look on this plant. Is it because I grew two colas or because of the trauma from a broken cola?? I have no idea but time will tell. Please like and comment and come back!

Susquihanna Skunk appears to have grown an inch this week. I measured both of my colas to see if there was a height difference between the two. Amazingly, the cola that broke is 1 inch taller than its counter parts. I also took a picture of a skunk plant that I am growing simultaneously in a grow tent. They are SO different. I thought nature would produce a better grow but in this case, my skunk plant in the tent is bigger and its buds are thicker. Now, that being said, I did not pinch the skunk that is growing in the tent. As a matter of fact, I haven't had to tend to the grow tent skunk plant as much as my outside grow because of our crazy weather this Spring. I originally bought this skunk seed because I wanted to know if it would smell like a skunk. FYI: It does not. Royal Queen says "The Sweet Skunk Auto strain offers a powerful taste and aroma mixing slightly fruity, spicy, and—of course—skunky notes. I can smell the fruity scent.

Susquihanna This week is another wet week with 72% humidity!! I am watching really closely for bud rot. And, I tend to get nervous and take a plant down too early when it rains so much. I can't really feed them any nutrients either because of all the rain. The good thing, however, is my skunk of doing really well considering the hail storm and broken stem it has had to endure. Miss Skunk has been brave and withstood the test of time. She has long, thin stems but she is packed with small buds and lots of resin! Royal Queen Seeds says, "Sweet Skunk Auto seeds produce plants that grow to a very manageable height of around 60–100cm, which translate to 40 inches. My Skunk is currently 36 inches!! Sweet Skunk Auto seeds are ready to harvest just 11–12 weeks after sprouting." So, I should be ready to take this down pretty soon.

Susquihanna It is harvest day for Miss Sweet Skunk. Due to the excessive rain this week and two places of bud rot, Mother Nature forced me to take her down. 2 more weeks would have been nice but that didn't happen. If you have been following me then you know that Miss Sweet Skunk encountered a terrible misfortune. It hailed one evening and one of her two colas was broken. My husband found her damage first and taped her up and then put a wire tie around her. According to the grow diary question/answer platform, I was able to learn that we had done the right thing and changes were good that she would recover from her injury. Not only did Sweet Skunk recover, but she went onto growing at a height of 2 feet, 11 inches. That is just under 100 cm. According to Royal Queen website, "Sweet Skunk Auto seeds produce plants that grow to a very manageable height of around 60–100cm." AND even though Sweet Skunk had a broken stem, she GREW! This plant was a very tall and lanky plant. Her buds are plentiful but started out quite small. I will I had another couple of weeks to see her reach her full potential, but that is left for another grow. For now, I am happy she survived all the weather that Mother Nature threw at her this week and it is a good day:) Stay turned for weigh ins.
