So this is the story of a promising strain, that was horrible to grow during most of its growth!🤦🏽 But then it turned into something pretty special at the end 😀
This purple punch auto by fast buds was everything it wasn't supposed to be!
To begin with, I had to throw away the first seed I popped from that strain, due to a very weird mutation that was causing the young seedlings to stop developing anymore branches after a few days... I cut it off at around day 14 when I realized the plant is no good (bad DNA/genetics maybe?)😥
This didn't happen to me in a very long time....but it is what it is right..?
I decided not to give up and popped another seed of that auto purple punch... and again! I got a very weird and difficult growth from the second plant!!! 😤
But.... the end result gave a huge smile on my face :)
This was a challenging grow, definitely a good lesson and experience for me.
Hello everyone and welcome to my new grow
dairy 👋🏽
This grow was made a few months back, and while smoking the last buds from this plant I finally found the time to share my experience with all of you.
Germination:
As usual for me, with the method that gave me 100% success with germination (assuming you use a genuine seed bank and good seeds).
The paper towel method:
I keep the seeds in a moist paper towel inside of a sealing plastic box, wrapped in towel for darkness, put above a heating Matt, making sure the paper towel is warm but not too hot.
A little more then 24 hours and the seed was germinated 😊
The seed the was put into a 4 gallon (15 liter) fabric pot, filled with coco and perlite (about 70/30), I was soaking the coco with a light solution made for the first week of seedling.
That's it for the germination:)
This plant was definitely a unique and good experience to grow ... It gave me headaches, heart attacks, frustrations and what not! But at the end..after learning a lot from this grow...man it was worth it😉
Until the next week everyone 🏽
Week 1 has passed, and everything looks great and normal, only weird thing is one baby leaf didn't want to grow🤣 but that didn't bother the plant to keep developing as usual 😊
I give small amounts of water with a very light feeding solution, and every 3-4 days I give a big amount of water to flush any salt buildup.
That's the thing with coco you gotta be careful for salt/Ec spiking if there isn't enough runoff when you watering 🤷🏽
Until next week everyone 🌱🏽
End of week 2 for the Auto Purple punch 👊🏽👾
The young plant grows fast and healthy,
so fast in fact that I topped it at day 14!😯
I Usually topping my auto plants when they get to the fifth node, usually at day 16-1...
this one got there at day 14!
- I keep watering small amounts at this stage, and every 3-4 days I water for extra runoff to clean any EC buildup.
Until the next week everyone 😊🌱
End of week 3 for the Purple punch🌱👾
So, another week passed by, and this plant grow rapidly and smoothly, except for one tiny thing, it stays super short and for now doesn't want to grow vertically 😅
I mean there was literally no change in hight since day 15 to day 19,
At first I thought the plant didn't liked the topping, but on the other hand this plant keeps growing vigorously, and keep spreading! Just not vertically for the moment.
This week highlights:
- adjusting nutrients for week 3
- keeping an eye on the E.C runoff as usual
- waiting for the plant to grow enough so i can start LST
- increasing watering as the roots growing
Hoping to see some stretching by next week ;) 🌱
End of week 4,
and what a crazy week 🤦🏽😅
So this plant was driving me crazy this week...
It refuses to grow vertically! (See in the pictures she barely reaches out of the pot!) and instead of that she got super bushy! Full of large leaves everywhere packing on top of each other..
I had to clean many of the leaves, with every day trying to organize and control this crazy phenotype, 🤦🏽👾
Eventually she did grew up a bit to a point that allowed me (barely) to LST, I kept defoliate the plant along with lst,
2 days after and the plant bushed up again! Many new leaves reappeared with no extra hight.... In short - it was hell taking care of the plant during week 4😤
This got me to a point when I got paranoid thinking this phenotype is also not good for growing a decent plant as I use to grow..
Don't get me wrong here! This plant was super healthy! The leaves grew fast and super green, the roots got to the bottom and filled up the 4 gallon fabric pot, going out through the fabric!
However the total lack of vertical growth was made me think something is wrong with this phenotype.
Luckily I decided to continue with the grow, and give this plant a chance... And thank God I did that because eventually she came out to be something special ;)
Until next week everyone 👊🏽🌱
Week 5 for the midget Purple Punch 👊🏽👾
This plant reminded me of the dwarfs from Tolkien fantasy books 😅🤦🏽
A very tough/short/bulky plant, it's stem is already very thick! Worst nightmare to train and LST, yet a very healthy plant that grow vigorously, just not vertically ;)
- As for treatment, nothing special, keep cleaning/defoliating/ LST as much as I can (daily work with this plant)
- I watering drain to waste now once a day, making sure any salts buildup will gone
This week she FINALLY started to gain some hight! Very little, but it's an improvement. Flowering is around the corner, maybe she'll stretch up, who knows;)
This week I got back my hope for this plant 😀
Until the next week everyone 🌱👾
Week 6, flowering stage begin ✨💥
The good news with this midget plant is that I finally beginning to see some stretching obviously it's due to beginning of flowering but still happy about it;)
This is by far the bushiest plant I've came across! It's just insane the amount of branches and leaves on this plant🤯
Some highlights for this week:
- Beginning of the flowering phase, so now I adjust my tripart fertilizer to a 0.6 - 0.6 - 0.6 for the first week in flower.
I barely do any defoliation this week, as i want it to be comfortable to stretch without any stress, I'll keep defoliation later on of course
The plant enters it's "turbo mode" and start drinking like crazy, so I increased watering with drain to waste, trying to keep up with the plant's thirst
That's all for now...I let this crazy plant to it's thing 😂
Until the next week everyone 🌱👾
Week 7 arrived, and with it came some Crazy bud development 🏽🌱👾
This midget plant kept growing on week 7, which only make sense since we're talking on the second week of the flowering period, but honestly we're talking on a minor stretch compering to any normal hybrid strain, especially for a strain who is describing as - and I quote - (I actually stopped here and got into fastbuds official site for the quote 🤣): "this is a GIANT autoflower that reaches 150 cm..."
Well, this is not the case for me obviously,
But, and that's a big but, this plant is one of the healthiest plants I've grown! It's super bushy, and the bud development this week was very impressive! 👏🏽💪🏽👾
Some highlights for this week:
- I started to lightly defoliate again, this plant is also one of the bushiest I've ever grown (probably the bushiest hah), I kept cleaning leaves that blocked major bud sites, but still went really gentle with it, as I want to make sure the plant won't get any strass at this point cuz I need it to get taller! 😅🤦🏽
- at this point I started watering drain to waste twice a day, with about 2.5 - 3 liters per watering, so roughly 5-6 liters a day,
Luckily I decided to go with 4 gallon pot instead of 3, so i don't need to water her 3 times a day, and I thank myself for that decision;)
Nothing else to say on week 7, just kept with the basics, keep checking the EC runoff, and waiting for the big cleaning/defoliating that will come very soon 😀
Untill the next week everyone 🌱👾
