Harvested 2/3 of the buds already. The total dry weight from the whole plant might be a couple of ounces, to be confirmed soon:)

I’m not sure if I’m watering enough. I always check if the soil is dry about 30mm under surface but I still water the soil gently with a sprayer only. Is it beneficial to spray onto the leaves? I’m using donut humidifier and achieving RH levels between 30 and 80%

Hi, Its the better way not to overdo the watering.Girls come along nicely with less water. But 400 ml sounds pretty good for me .And its absolutely ok th spray them too. But best is to do it when the lights are off to avoid burning through the lights. Next money you got buy an humidifier, girls tend to grow better in the Right Rh. Its absolutely worth the money in the comments more to read

Does any of you guys know whether or not a shortening of the lights on period in veg could affect the size of the plant? And if the answer is yes, would that in the same time delay the harvest? Or the time is ticking the same for auto whatever you do?

of course shortening the light schedule will affect the growth, it will grow slower for sure you're at 19hrs right if you go less than 10 hours maybe like 8 or 6 or 4 hours you'll see a pretty huge difference. if you're at 18 and go down to 16 you wont notice much. the only thing about light is that it litterally burns off the THC and the terpenes produced by the plant, both of these are highly sensitive to light. What i'm going to do is reduce the light schedule around harvest time so the plant can really fill out with taste and potency. So in other words yes, light is a big deal and will affect growth - hope this helps ! 🚀

Yes you can do it , by this way the plant will focus on the buds and the buds only. It's like when you top your lady , she's redirecting her energy to different spots. A good idea

@CBDbusho, I'm extremely impatient so I generally do partial harvests. Its not usually more than a week or two apart for me but I personally havent seen many issues. I try to trim as little as possible though to stress the plant as little as possible.
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@Denzul, Well the problems really started at the beginning of week 5 and whatever I have tried it did not really help but still the plant is growing and the buds are fattening:) Anyway, what do you think about partial harvest on auto? The main colas should be ready soon but the rest, not really.
Denzul
Denzulcommented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, I wouldn't be concerned to much. When you get towards the ends it's common to see leaves dying off as they've reached their life span. Especially during a flush this is actually what you would like. You want the plant to have emptied the nutrients from the soil and now simply want the buds stealing every last nutrient from the rest of the plant. The dead leaves during a flush is a sign your flushing properly and doing well. Plant has shifted focus to purely nugs. Its biologic resction as It is a last ditch effort from the plant to make attempt to be pollinated (which we know it wont be) but at this point she wants to make her nugs as big as possible to hopefully get some seeds and survive till next season. Leaves are no longer essential and she will ignore them till they die off. Hope this helps reassure you.

hey man to answer your question, yes light does affect growth rate and harvest time - see my stem splitting diary - plant got like 4hrs of light and it took 25 week for an auto lol... so yeah... any other question you have just let me know I'll help you out if I can. 👊

@CRiSPrGrow, well, I check the weight of the pot every evening and the plant drinks 1kg in 24h hence I water it with about 1l.

@CBDbusho, soil plus the spray is fine and you're right about over watering... i water 1/3 as much as you in a pot twice as big
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow,some of the leaves on main stems started to curl up as on the photo I will upload in a minute. Is it part of cal mag problem? It might be overwatering as I added 0,5 to the usual 1l per 24h yesterday to flush it a bit

A $7 moisture meter is essential for accurate assessment. Root tips are at the bottom, so testing the surface doesn’t tell the story. I allow my plants to reach the low end of ‘moist’ before watering again. And I water just enough for a little to seep out the bottom. Late in flower, I let them go a bit drier to encourage resin production in response to dehydration. A long sliver from a broken terra cotta pot makes an acceptable moisture indicator - if it reached the bottom of the pot and is still exposed for you to see it. If it’s moist at the bottom, the clay will wick it up and show it at the other end. And it stays there full time.

@howie03, I think I’ve got the watering under control now. My square cloth pot is about 10l and weight is 1,6 with no plant. It is 2.6kg with my dwarf when the soil is bone dry and that’s the weight when I see the obvious signs of underwatering. Currently I’m watering 1l once a day because it drinks axactly 1kg of weight
howie03
howie03commented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, My dwarf just drank 1 l every 2-3 days. Seems to be too much. Do you put nuts in your water every time? Could lead to nut excess in my opinion. What are the signs you relate to underwatering? If your plant has not enough water the leaves will hang down and get wishy-washy. After watering they will turn up again in a few hours ... You can see overwatering in my 1st diary an day 37 of my 1st lady. That needed 2 days to be cured with stop watering. On day 29 and 31 in your diary your plant looks overwatered to me. I measured my dwarf and it weighs with pot 2,6 kg (11 l filled with 8 1/8 l) and it's near to harvest. She will get 1l-1.5l tomorrow. Just enough until the water will come off at the bottom of the pot. That will last for 3 days. Another good method to avoid overwatering is to put your finger into the soil 3 cm deep. If your finger tip doesn't feel a little wet, time has come to water.
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc, which 7$ moisture meter would you recommend? I started seeing an underwatering signs recently and decided to be more scientific with my watering. The pot of this size when dry weights around 1.5kg. The pot with the plant with signs of underwatering is 2,6kg and the pot starts to seep through the bottom at 3.1kg. I have also calculated that currently the plant drinks 0.8l per 24h. I would like to water it once a day at the evening and I think today I will top it up to 2.7l (slightly above underwatered 2.6l) and then add 0.6l at the evening to get me to 3.4l From the next day I would just do 0,8l every evening, how does it sound?:)

@Stick wrote “It's better to wait for signs of underwatering than to flood your soil with water too often” This forum doesn’t offer a sticky or similar method of posting other than updating a diary. But if it did, tips like this would be in a Grow Index because nearly every new grower over waters
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@growdoctordc,Well, yeah. Yesterday I had my first little problem and it was actually underwatering :) So far I was just topping up the soil with water every day about 0.3l and it worked until the rapid growth started and I added extra 19W of LED light really close to the plant. I’m switching now to 1-1.5l and I will be measuring the weight of the pot before next watering. What do you think ? when should I water? When I lost 3/4 of water previously added? Does it sound right or I should just wait for the leaves to drop every time?

CBDbushocommentedweek 66 years ago
I have some of my top leaf tips burnt (see the last photo from day39) Is it a light burn or nutrients burn? It affected only two oldest and tallest branches hence I’m 90% sure it is a led light burn.
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow,to be honest I’m not convinced but obviously I will try. I will have it delivered tomorrow. PS Just added todays photos. Tip burn and light green top leaves are visible there. Apart from that the flowers fattened in the last 2 days nicely and I had really rapid growth and water intake of 1l per day in a 9l pot in the last 10 days which seems a lot.
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrowcommented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, yeah i see it better now, it's cal mag deficiency - hope you get a chance to get control of it 👊
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, the leaves are not becoming yellow only lighter green. It started from the highest branches but I think it spreads throughout canopy but only the very top still. It still can be because of too much light as the whole top is already much closer than manufacturers recimmended. I had some completly yellow leaves but these were at the very bottom and back of my cabinet with zero light penetration there (See the picture added a minute ago) I will have to check if there is any yellowing between the veins but I think no. I thought that it is normal that newer leaves at the top are lighter but it looks like it slowly spreads. The burnt tips spread down definiately hence it might have something to do with nutrition. I will get calmag from amazon quickly just in case. Also most of the petioles turned purple in week 6 it can be seen on photos but it can be normal for this strain. Tell me what you think, thanks

First time grower tips please just ordered this beauty from seedsman
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@Tkultranewb,I know what you mean but there is so many variables that you really have to learn from experience and read a lot about every stage of operation. I was truly surprised that it is so kind of complicated:) Feel free to ask precise questions when you stumble into problems. My main advice would be: If you can do not do micro grow:) If you have enough space, use at least 120cm tall cabinet or tent. Microgrows tend to be harder and the cost to benefit ratio will be always less favorable.

@CBDbusho, I understand but kinda rather know what not to do before so I don't lose my only one I've never bought seeds online and got from the best site seedsman from what I read and its the royal dwarf I just need to make sure it grows and flowers til I harvest it I can't keep paying the sky high prices they charge at dispensaries

CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@The_Projexx, No no, I’m not adding lights to prevent it from stretching:) I’m adding light to cover the corners of the grow cabinet where my plant will reach a blind spot of my main light soon. It’s all because of extremely limited height of my cabinet. That is why I was thinking about restricting light on hours. If that would reduce growth it would be perfect but if that would also extend the harvest time- no good as I’m going on holiday close to harvest and there will be nobody home to handle my plants. I will have a look at your GG diary, thanks
The_Projexx
The_Projexxcommented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, no matter how much light you add it isnt going to stop stretching for atleast 1-2 weeks , the plant is making space right now to form up flowers , it will stop soon . So if you bought lights in the hopes of making it stop growing like that you did that for nothing , in the sense that it wont stop the stretch however you will gain more weight on your harvest :D :D . In order to control a plants height you have to train it . You can look at my GG diary and it shows a pretty cool way to train your plants that isnt expensive at all :D :D :D I hope this info helps you understand the "why" abit more to your plants stretching and that it will stop soon :) Thanks for taking the time to respond . -Happy Growing!

CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@The_Projexx, So far I had no mayor problems. It seems to be great for a first time grower:) Although I’m slowly running out of vertical space, hence I’m adding 3rd supplemental DIY led light soon. The footprint is also already more than half of my space available. Hopefully the slow growth of my Swiss Dream auto cbd will work to my advantage and I will be able to have them together till harvest. Do you think that lack of CO2, scooped up by the dwarf could be one of the reasons of slow growth? Maybe I should increase extraction? But that would lower the temperature in the cabinet...hmmm

@CBDbusho, I measured my pot for you. 25x25x13 cm -> 8 1/8 litres with mix of 40% soil, 40% coco and 20% perlite.
howie03
howie03commented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, My three dwarfs reached not more than 45 cm. I used a china LED panel and 5 x Phillips LEDs with 4000K for vegatition and switched to 2700K bulbs in flowering phase. That means 37Watts per ft². The pots where 9-11 l. In my first grow i did LST to one of my dwarfs and it seems that it has no influence to height. All dwarfs where between 40-45 cm. You can take a look to my actual dwarf in the 2nd grow diary. It will be harvested in 1-2 weeks, I think with 44 cm in soil. You can find nuts schedule in my diaries. In the first grow I used soiless mediums.

CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@howie03, Hi. I'm a bit worried that it will grow too tall, hence I'm doing a quite aggresive LST. What was the height of your dwarfs? My cabinet is less than 80cm tall and I'm using custom made, wide but not too tall cloth pots (only 12cm tall). I have also modified my Optic 1 LED light by removing the power adapter from the top of it, So it is much flatter and I gained extra 8cm space. Soon I will build a supplementary led light based on 27x 1W Bridgelux 380-840nm leds to get some more light from the sides.
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommentedweek 46 years ago
We've got quite simillar setups, my pots are square 27x27x13cm. I'm using Biobizz light mix with about 30% perlite added. As my light is at maximum height but still only 40cm from the tops, I'm trying to tie the plants down as much as possible in veg state. If the plant will be 45cm high at flowering it would be touching the light, hence I definiately need supplemental light on sides. Anyway, the plant seems to be not to drink too much, maybe I should lower the humidity which is currently 66% on average.
howie03
howie03commented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, I don't know if it is better or not to water them every day. I'm watering every 3-4 days. It's less work and maybe better to avoid wet feet and maybe moldy roots as roots. But I'm not sure 😕 Your girl looks already healthy so why to change something?! She doesn't look overwatered 😏
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@howie03, I think I am watering about 1l per 3 days but I’m splitting this into 0.33l every day. Would that be better to do 1l and nothing for 3 days? I think, So far I had no issues and it is my first grow. Dwarf just started flowering:) Tying down have to work!:) It is around the beginning of week 5 and it is 17cm tall. If I would not spiral the main stem around the pot it would be 25-30cm already but you can’t be really sure as LST might actually encourage growth.
howie03
howie03commented6 years ago
@CBDbusho, really not much space. maybe tying down will work 😏 I think at this size and temperature she will drink around 1 l every 3-4 days?

I got my seed and germinated it in paper towels had a root coming out so stuck in dirt. Well now it's 5 days later and nothing so dug up seed and looks like the seed is dying or root going back in to the seed capsule. Help
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommented6 years ago
@Tkultranewb,well I know your pain. My first seed of Swiss dream CBD auto had a taproot coming and it died later after planting in soil. It happens sometimes even if you are really careful. Probably you damaged it or overwatered it. My second seed of Swiss dream wasn’t much better, it survived but the root was growing horizontally just a 1inch under the surface which probably led to a general underdevelopment of the plant. Although my first ever grow (Royal dwarf auto) was a huge success. Just harvested it and a total dry weight might be 3 ounces. And that is from a single plant grown in a cabinet just about 31inches tall. Try another seed man, Royal dwarf is really great and the high is a nice sativa type head high. Good luck

That math would give me an ice cream headache if I could keep up. Get the least expensive, single prong, garden variety soil moisture tester. Amazon, or any home center or garden store in the US or EU has them. There are cheap versions that also test pH and light but they don’t work.

here is the vpd chart there you can see wich rh you should meet in dependendae of age and temperature It works like you do too, hemp is very resiliant and grows under nearly condition. Its much better to " underwater" your girls. That keeps away many issues and pests. its no recommondation to underwater but to to like you already do. You got a good watering regime and why changing=?......... Transfer that to the fertilisers and you are very good in water and fertiliser its _less is more

I've grown a few plants before but didn't get anything they got big bout 4ft but stayed in veg state for ever changed light schedule and then boom turned male and coated in seeds and had two tiny tiny nugs smaller that half popped popcorn lol. This one I'm going to do in side and just sit it by window and use lights but it won't be in tight spot and will be setting it out during the day when I can. I'm just worried I don't want to kill it or anything where I am it is very very very hard to come by any that is good. Most time gotta pay a fortune for it and it's junk like the old brown Mexican or sometimes run across some old fashioned home grown. But I need to be able to get this one to grow n complete so I got enough to hold me over and order more seeds I never tried any seeds other than what was in the baggie lol. I got my royal dwarf auto feminized off seedsman.

My math seems to be working good. 0.8l every evening and the leaves are up, praying to light:) I shaped the main stem with LST into spiral and the result is only 23cm plant with about 10 branches shooting up. I hope the aggressive LST will not promote the growth of these branches too much as I don’t have too much vertical space left
CBDbusho
CBDbushocommentedweek 46 years ago
I think it is not flowering yet. Doing aggressive LST from week 2 to keep it wide and low due to very limited height. The plant is still really green, more than on photos. Trying to slightly lower humidity from week 4, hopefully it is not going to dry my Swiss Dream Auto CBD which is 2-3 weeks behind.
