Hi Growers, my tent has recently hit some low temps at about 15 degrees lights off, I have now improved the temps by a few degrees to about 17 at lights off. Purple is showing on my stems probably caused by cold but purple also showing on the back of leaves? Should I worry?
I would say that it is not an issue but your plants are young so yes it is a problem . The pirplelish colour is due to the low temps and the fact that the leaves and the petioles turns purple is not uncommon with you temps, the new growth will look a the same if you have no way to change your temps to something higher. Any temps under 17 and higher than 30Β°C can slow your growth. From what I can see you are now at the lower temps limit ( don't get back to 15Β°C ). You did worry enough now you can relax π
I've recently switched to 12/12 and because of the temps where I live I have opted for lights on 10pm to 10am, now just a quick question, during uninterrupted darkness would me briefly opening the tent to water badly disrupt this? Using my phone light to water the plants?
yup, it will stress out the plants, the slightest light will/could mess with them , make them turn hermie, try watering just before the lights come on to avoid this issue. hope this helps ! π
Hi growers! I am on week 5 flowering and I am only feeding bloom and bud candy nutrients, I am no longer feeding any micro and grow, because I am giving them less nitrogen obviously some leaves are starting to turn yellow, is this okay? I am half way through flower cycle.
Iβd say that week 5 is a little early for the plant to start eating its reserves. This should only really start happening in the final few weeks. Try and keep em rich healthy and green until the final leg.
Hi!! Welcome to GD!
Glad to see another big fan of Laughing Buddhas (and sativas). Thatβs my favorite Amsterdam strain, so Iβll be following for sure. Good luck and have fun! π
@TOTEM, thanks man! Yeah nothing compares to it for me, Laughing Buddha is a true champ of mine and a keeper for sure! I've just planted them today, there are 6 plants in total sharing this seedling tent, 5 x Laughing Buddha 1 x Cookies Kush (free seed), fingers crossed were off to a good start! All seeds popped, let's do this! π
@G4NJAG4NG, no me neither, I used plastic up until this 7 litre smart pot from root pouch. Hopefully going to get some more to go full smart pot. They grow a lot better in them so the 3 gal will be fine buddy.
@UKLEEDSGROWER, thanks for the assurance mate, yeah I'm never going back to plastic now! These fabric pots rock! There only in 3 gallon pots and I was nervous that it wasn't going to be enough but they are happy as can be so far!!! π
@G4NJAG4NG, just read your diary. Donβt be worries about root bound with these smart pots, because they are fabric what happens is a process called air pruning. Basically your roots will try grow through the side and the air and light will draw it back inside, then it will generate another root from that root and keep doing so. If you look under your pot if itβs on a tray you might find a couple roots have broke the fabric and shown their face. These fabric pots are shit hot!!
Looking good. I see you had some cold issues, similar to me, and I too am running my lights from 10p-10a. I just do my best to water as soon as the lights come on, on the days that I do feed.
@buddha61, haha we are very close indeed, almost in sync π yeah I think I will definitely invest in a little heater when I have the money for lights off! My biggest challenge now is keeping the tent cooler when lights are on, 27 degrees was great during veg but I've heard that a lower temperature 23-26 is better for flowering, I just open my top window a little bit during 10p-10a and that seems to be doing a good job at lowering temps.
An I just passive intake from the same room as well haha seems to do the job pretty well in my opinion
@G4NJAG4NG, Wow, we were close, I think my veg lights off was like 10a-4p. I have since realized (since I just passive intake from the room the tent is in), that if I just keep a space heater in the room the tent is in, and keep it on 70Β°(21Β°C), the lights off temps never drops below 66Β° (19Β°C), and mostly 68Β° (20Β°C).
Thanks for the wishes, and I say they same thing, may your flower go well, and your harvest be bountiful!
@buddha61, hi man! Glad to see someone in a similar boat as me! Yeah I will just make sure to water as soon as the lights come on, so far though my water schedule is pretty relaxed, watering every 2-4 days so it's not time consuming or anything. And the cold issue has gotten more under control now thankfully.
I have a weather app on my phone and found that the best time for lights off during 18/6 veg was 12-6pm as this was when the day was at its warmest, there also loving the 10p-10a and handling it really well, temps averaging around 17 degrees with lights off but they seem comfortable with it, I think there old enough now to get through it better. π Happy growing as always! Best of luck to your grows and I wish you an amazing harvest day for sure!! π₯
@JohnnyBlaz3, definitely the most exciting part of it all apart from harvesting of course π thanks man! There really liking there feed and I think I've tuned it all in pretty well! Loving your grow as well, can't wait to see those buds!!
@G4NJAG4NG, lol i mentioned the other day to my buddies they would laugh their asses off if they saw how I have to contortion to defoliate and the daily stretch to water the back left one ππ the buds should start forming this week
@JohnnyBlaz3, thanks dude! There coming along nicely now!! Can't wait to see some buds develop, hardest thing so far is inspecting the plants at the back π near enough impossible even to defoliate! Gonna spend some time trying this weekend haha
@starphish, haha yeah it usually changes after cure and sometimes I canβt smell anything because Iβm so use to the dank π if your looking for some genetics for future I would honestly recommend these strains, beautiful to grow, easy maintenance and covered in frost ππ»
@amazongrow, thank you man much appreciated! It looks like my previous grow errors have finally paid off with this one π if your a sativa fan I would definitely recommend the laughing Buddha from Barney's farm, smoked it back in Amsterdam and it was amazing, super excited to be growing my own supply of it π
@ChefDan420,thanks dude, one thing I can say about the laughing Buddha is there very strong plants in terms of growth, I tried the strain back in Amsterdam which got me really interested as the sativa effects were pure bliss. They don't require as much nutrients as previous strains I've grown so if you ever grow these girls just take it easy on nutes at the start, normally by this week I would be feeding 4ml/micro and 4ml/grow but still sticking to 1.5ml/micro and 2ml/grow as it's all they need π
@ChefDan420,yes definitely in my experience, full of giggles and laughter! I ended up having the best shower too back at the hotel, it just felt amazing hahaha well worth a try for sure! π One of my favourites for the day time! π
