The Diary Wars: What Actually Happened
Quick Note Before We Start
Honestly, I didn’t want to post this. I’ve been on GrowDiaries for about 4 or 5 years, and this kind of thing’s only happened once before. I’m not here for drama. I’m just here to grow, share, learn from other people, and maybe throw out a few memes along the way.
But this whole mess got so out of hand that I figured if someone’s gonna twist what happened, I’d rather put it all out there myself, with receipts. So here’s how it actually went down.
PRELUDE: This Wasn’t the First Time
About a month ago, I had a polite exchange with the same user. I asked about a possible nanner I saw in one of his grow pics. My exact words:
“Looking good dude, are you plucking the banana or are you getting rid of the whole plant?”
I even followed it up with:
“Thanks for the reply, and honestly I ain't a troll — not on this site at least. I'm here to grow and learn how everyone else does their thing, that's about it, growmie.”
“I'll be passing around more often, just don't bite my head off, lol. Promise?”
His response?
“Sounds like the typical backhanded comment of trolls around here.”
“Should read it again.”
“Hey, were you in Mean Girls?”
Even then, I didn’t take the bait. I clarified again, wished him luck, and moved on. But clearly… he didn’t forget it.
Day -2: I Tried to Keep It Friendly
Weeks later, I replied to one of his new comments — again politely. Just a grower talking to another grower:
“Interesting, I never used vermiculite. I did use perlite for a long time and switched to clay pebbles — the cheapest I can find, which usually consist of broken-up pieces as well. Not good for full hydro but perfect for my growing style. Just curious on why you don’t like coco coir. I personally am happy with the results.”
His replies:
“Coco is an inferior product (empirical studies, not anecdotal).”
“Self-reporting is some of the absolute worst evidence.”
“You may need to look up the definition of anecdote.”
“You could probably get the same results with dirt from your backyard.”
I didn’t insult him. I didn’t even push back. Just kept it chill and respectful.
Day -1: Still Trying to Keep It Cool
I replied a little more, still trying to be respectful, still not tagging him or escalating anything.
He came back with:
“You’re insecure because it’s not the best option.”
“Nonsense inductive reasoning — LOL.”
“You’re denying reality.”
At that point I backed out. No tags. No follow-ups. Figured that would be the end of it.
Day 0: I Finally Pushed Back — Lightly
After two full days of smug, dismissive replies, I dropped a single meme into my diary update — nothing serious. Just a funny header:
“Clearly you’ve been smoking the vermiculite and it’s turned you into a complete gremlin.”
No name. No tag. Just a joke on my own page.
And somehow… that’s what broke him completely.
Then He Absolutely Lost It
He came in swinging — hard. Not joking, not debating just pure rage:
“Passive-aggressive nonsense!”
“Toddler’s fit!”
“You are just a toddler!” (he posted it twice)
“You are the troll.”
“You’re butthurt.”
“Posting childish mean girl memes!”
“ffs grow up!”
“You shit all over my comment section!”
“Blah blah blah, me me me…”
“Bwahaha. yan402 blew a gasket!”
He even claimed he “never insulted me” while calling me a “f***ing child” in the same thread.
Me? I Kept It Light
I clapped back, yeah — but I didn’t go nuclear. My responses were:
“Thanks for the engagement, bro.”
“My diary’s doing great.”
😘🖕
“You still here troll? Lmao.”
(plus a few memes — that’s it)
No tagging first. No name-calling. No threats.
He raged. I posted memes and kept growing.
The Collapse
He started replying to totally unrelated compliments on my diary just to throw shade. Got stuck in a loop of “blah blah blah” and acting like he was under siege — even though I wasn’t even tagging or talking to him anymore.
Then he just… vanished.
Day +1: Silence
At the time I’m posting this, it’s been 14+ hours since his last comment.
No reply.
No comeback.
No explanation.
Meanwhile:
I gained followers
The diary’s doing great
And the roast is still pinned at the top
Final Thoughts
Again — this isn’t what I’m here for. I’d rather help someone dial in their nutrients or talk about stretching vs. training than deal with this nonsense.
But after two days of being patient, and a full-blown tantrum in my diary, I figured… if someone’s gonna come in swinging, I’m at least gonna post the full story.
I didn’t start it.
I didn’t escalate first.
But I finished it.
That’s not drama.
That’s just cleaning up after a troll.
