A lot happened during week 5. The plants grew at an enormous pace and consequently became extremely hungry. Therefore, I had some problems with nutrient supply, especially in the more light-intensive middle areas of my largest plant. I try to balance this with additional foliar fertilization and give the plants showing signs of deficiency about 20% more fertilizer.
Regarding my values, I have been running my dehumidifier since this week, which clearly shows in the increased temperature, but due to the high CO2 concentration in the tent, I am not worried.
Water consumption is also increasing accordingly. I have raised my VPD to 1.1 and increased the light output to 600 PPFD. I also water half a liter daily, with fertilization every second time.
On the last day of the week, I also carried out my first defoliation because the plants had become too bushy again and, of course, to direct the strength into the main shoots.
At the same time, I added another layer of clay pellets to the surface to finally get rid of the fungus gnats. Unfortunately, there was also a tragic incident during the week with a rather cunning, white, fluffy parasite***. It quickly attacked the juicy leaf tips of my plants.
EMPORIO!!!
Yes, then there is also number 9... I may have given it too little attention, but I have not yet managed to get it out of the deficiency. I continue to fertilize this plant mineral-wise with Hesi. However, I really like its shape. It reminds me of a steppe tree in the Serengeti. 🙂
