Grow Questions

For an outdoor auto grow does it make sense to move the plants during the day to maximise direct sunlight (8h vs 12h) or is it better to leave them undisturbed. better to keep plants under a basic light setup eg 85w 4750 lumen cfl up to 100cm from light during veg stage?

Yes it makes sense , I have this problem myself and I can't move them ( stealth grow ) so I loose direct sunlight and a bit of energy. During veg if you can put them out during day time and inside during night time ( under the FL) it would be perfect to maximise the autos grow ✌️🏼

This was a good week overall. Got a grow light and now moving these under lights at night, with measureable improvement. Two seedlings died (one of each strain) when a puppy managed to get to them. No nutrients yet and and watered very conservatively.

This was successful week overall depsite a couple of overcast and windy days (kept inside under the CFL). The plants look very healthy and growing at a reasonable pace. Started feeding nutrients and watering with runoff from the pots (400ml every 3 days). Note that a friend is growing seeds from same batch under same soil, feeding schedule but in grow tent with LED lighting. Including a photo for comparison. Those are developing MUCH faster (2 nodes ahead despite being planted later). Two differences to account for: Much better lighting and he tops up the soil more aggressively (up to cotyledons). As a result I am improving my lighting setup to better control distance (was 10-40cm) to plants and much greater intensity (adding 3×140W 7850 lumen CFL).Also adding Mylar coating to walls. Note that all photos taken on same day (sprouted some of the seeds 3days later and the original two got mixed up). They're on par in terms of development. The later seeds got benefit of CFL lights earlier in development cycle. Very instructive week! Thanks for all the advice and support, it really helps.

This was an exciting week. My lights got a major upgrade and the plants are certainly appreciating it. I've also uploaded the photos from the control group that is growing under led lights in a separate grow room. I think it is a bit unfortunate that they have started to flower already, but uk cheese in particular has 60 day lifespan so i'm not too concerned. I've decided to go easy on training in this round given the bit of stretch that there is, the reasonably slow rate of growth and the fact that they are flowering already. Topped up the soil again. Sticking to Biobizz grow only this week and will add bloom from next week onwards.

Seeing explosive growth this week with the plants in full bloom. The smaller plants were planted 2-3 days before the others but got much less benefit from the lights and the impact is remarkable. Surprising to see that the biggest plant is UK cheese so far which is expected to yield much less the critical. Overall very happy to see the progress.

When a breeder quotes an estimated range for yield what assumptions do the make: 1. Is the quoted yield based on wet or dry weight 2. Is the range based on standard growth or do the high end numbers typically assume advanced training techniques, supplemental lighting etc.

I never read the Yield esteminations... Because, i dont really understand them^^ i look at seedfinder.eu and read what ppls wrote there, sometimes its teh same text like breeder, but most time there are personalized comments / texts. For me yield is no point for the decision to buy them. I look here at gd how the most of it come out, how difficult they are. how resiliant they are is for me one of the biggest points. I would always recommend you to buy from respected breeders. Maybe they dont have such fancy names or packages, but the Plants have good and stable genetics. This is how i do it, i see a strain, look on seedfinder.eu and here on gd how they are to grow........ and in i have doubts i dont grow it. As you can see in my grows i have prefered Breeder. And i would always go with them , because the Customer service is a very important point to me too. If you have problems, someone who helps you or send you new seeds. We can talk per PM for giving you some Names of good Breeder. i dont want to do it here

This was a good week, with plenty of sunshine. I still supplement light in evenings despite the spectrum not being right for bloom (6400k cfl). It is very interesting to see the difference between the plants: The two plants that were planted a couple of days early got less benefit of supplemental lighting are substantially smaller than the rest The UK cheese plants are bigger than I expected and keeping pace with the Criticals despite being a strain that is specced to yield much less. Their lifecycle is short and may be ready for harvest in 2-3weeks. Will consider starting flush in 7-10days after monitoring trichomes. Increased the bloom nutrients due to early signs of nitrogen deficiency. Very happy with this grow!

Another good week. I was away for the weekend so this update is a couple of days late and a few photos short. Overall looking very good, the buds are bulking up nicely.

Great week in the final straights! Inspected the trichomes yesterday. UK cheese are showing signs of milkyness. and looking at harvest at end of week 9. Starting flush now Critical still glassy and probably has 2-3weeks left. Ordered a microscope with camera so will be able to upload pictures from thursday onwards. Attended cannabis expo in cape town today. pretty awesome to see so much interest in growing and the industry around in with high hopes for a vibrant industry once the legislative frameworks in place. Great talk by one of the lawyers involved in getting the courts to legalize in SA and chatted to him afterwards. He advocates that people should keep good records of what they grow and where the product goes to support a case that it is for personal use, if police arrest someone. Mentioned grow diaries and he liked the idea 😎

Starting diary for week 9 early to keep track of the trichomes for the UK Cheese which appears to be approaching harvest. For now only loading microscope images and will load full plant images at the end of the week. UK Cheese (Plants labeled #1, #2 and #3): All trichomes appear milky with some amber (but well below 30%). Plan is to harvest these in a couple of days, but will push as late as possible (depending on feedback) to allow better flush (started today) Critical + 2.0 (Plants labeled #1, #2, #3): Mix of glassy and milky trichomes with no sign of amber. Looking for a couple more weeks out of these girls. One unfortunate issue is that some of the Critical plus plants exhibited signs of white powdery mold on some fan leaves. Any advice on pest control that could help with harming the buds? I have some Bio Neem, but believe the moment has passed where that is appropriate. To begin with I've wiped the leaves with wet paper towel to remove most of the mold. Very happy to see what a cheap microscope can do :)

This was a pleasure to grow. I was hoping for a bit more yield, but my recipe continues to improve. Supplemental lighting helped a lot, but the plants would have benefitted from some training. In future I will grow autos indoors under LED.

This was a big week. Harvested the Uk cheese and 2 of the criticals: 1 was perfectly ready under microscope, the other was close but under major threat from mildew. Last critical standing is getting harvested today. Harvest entryfor Uk cheese in the next day or two then the last critical when it dries

Critical + 2.0 grows big heavy sticky buds. It was a pleasure to grow and this will become a regular strain for me. Ungortunately these plants got hit hard by a powdery mildew infection. To deal with this I harvested 2 plants a bit early and washed all of them in a hydrogen peroxide solution.
