Put (Barney's Farm - Critical Kush) seed in paper towel/ziplock bag, in seedling tray on top of heating mat set to 81F.
Seed cracked open and tiny root after 3 days.
Moving to rockwool shortly, then into DWC once roots appear through rockwool.
Going to grow alongside Fruit Punch clone!
------
SO, after 3 days in the rockwool, no sprout. Opened it to see that the root has rotted off. No idea why, but it was in a domed seedling tray on a heat mat set to 82f. Am germinating seeds for my indoor garden right now, and most of those popped with no problems. Hoping the seed was just a dud - have another soaking in water now.
The second seed (Barney's Farm - Critical Kush) cracked open after 2 days, tiny root visible but not out, placed in paper towel.
4 days later, still no change, root rotted off. so confused.
-------
Trying Royal Queen Seeds - Critical next. Placed in glass of water. wish me luck.
After 2 days in water, no change.
Put in rockwool - after 3 days, we have a sprout!!
Day 9 since sprouted - had in a drip-system (tower garden) until day 8, day 9 moved to its own res with 1/2 strength nutes.
Day 13 - growing well! roots visible now out from bottom of the netpot. will post picture of that in the next day or two.
Day 28 - not growing as fast as the fruit punch.. maybe doesn't respond to trimming/topping as well as the fruit punch either? looks healthy, but roots are also much smaller than the fruit punch's were at this point. Could also be because the Critical is from seed, and the Fruit Punch was a clone? Interesting, none the less!
Day 32 - explosion of growth, trimmed and topped a shit-ton. looks hilarious haha.. hope it's as resilient as the fruit punch clone!
3F - Quantum Boards running at 85W each (170W total).
Keeping 12 tops pruned.
6F - Growing well - Split the middle trunk about an inch down, but taped it back together - should recover easily.
F10 - 12 tops - canopy is full - defoliating again in a day or two... stretch isn't too bad, but canopy is filling out really quickly.
F12 - Worried the mechanical timer i'm using (it's new) isn't working properly. It's set to turn on at 8am, off at 8pm. The last couple nights i happened to be working in the cabinet until about 9 before i realised the lights hadn't shut off yet... so i checked the timer, and one of the pegs was slightly depressed, and as soon as i touched the timer the lights turned off... i'm thinking there's something stuck, or not moving smoothly, getting caught on a pin without actually triggering it. Buds haven't started forming yet either, so i'm worried this has been going on for longer than i think... fakkkk. time to test the timer.
F15 - timer for lights was broken, so about 10 days behind, and plants are 3" higher than i wanted them to be at END of stretch... fak.. .going to tie them down some in the next few days horizontally.
F18 - Supercropped one main cola that was growing way too high.
F20 - Most tops were 5-6 inches form the lights ... I Pruned/Defoliated/Bent stems down to about 9-10 inches from lights.
F23 - Stretch looks about done now. Starting to bulk up! I have a good spread going on I think, mostly main tops with some random side shoots that made it to the top/filled in the voids.
F26 - Stretch done. Buds forming nicely.
F30 - Steady as she goes! Smells amazing, colas are bulking up, and PH has been steady with only a couple minor adjustments here and there! Weeeeeeeeeee...d
F33 - No issues whatsoever. Smooth sailing.
F37 - PH drops daily by about 1.0... going to try to add more calmag to see if that balances it out. other than that, bulking nicely, smells incredible, no other noticeable issues!
F43 - Found a nanner on a weird limp bud (my first nanner ever!). Did a thorough check for more and came up empty, so hopefully that was it..
F48 - No new Bananas to report. Been checking daily and everything looks great!
This was my first grow with the Quantum Board in the new cabinet, and it went great! Aside from the timer failing at the start of flowering, and causing 10 days of growth more than anticipated, overall it was an easy grow! Found a nanner a few weeks into flower, likely due to the light timer issue, but no more since, and found no seeds during trimming.
Going to dry for 5-7 days then take a sample and report back!
Dry after 5 days at 24c 45%RH.. yield was 114g dry (1.35g/w) with the QB running at 85w from the wall.
