I felt really dirty about posting this diary because I didn't document it from day 1. This tent is 3 months of topping, high stress training, and stem splitting to get this canopy exactly how I've wanted it. A level and even canopy. I have since flipped the tent into flower so we should have 65+ days of beautiful flowering to document. This was mostly a test because while I have done this method before I have never done it in such a small space. I wanted to maximize my yield from a 2 foot x 4 foot tent. I'm trying to use as little nutrients as possible while keeping the plant happy at the same time. I'm extremely self conscious about this grow so be nice ;) There are six plants in this tent bent all around the place all over each other. 4 Quantum Kush on the left and on the right in every picture (kind of cut off) are 2 Trainwreck. This diary is not about those Trainwreck since everyone has seen how Trainwreck grows but they'll be included in every shot seeing as they are literally all tied around the Quantum Kush.
As previously states this tent in a 2 foot X 4 foot tent. There are two carbon filters (One on the intake and one on the exhaust vent) The lights are two 300 watt Viparspectra LED systems. Their actual watt consumption is 136 watts a piece totaling the watts for all the lighting in this tent at 272 watts. That may change as the canopy rises higher I may add supplemental T5 bars to the bottom for fuller popcorn nugs. I'd wager to say, with adding the fans in the wattage consumption, this grow is around 350 - 400 watts.
It's beginning to look like a strong start to the second week of flower :DTheFairyBudMother asked a few questions about carbon filtration and ducting so I figured I'd post my intake and exhaust so that he can improve upon my most terrible of designs ;) She's a mess of duct tape and zip ties that works perfectly keeping the tent at 75 degrees as well as vent the humidity out perfectly. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' as they say. The pistols on the nodes are beginning to show quite clearly now. She's in full bloom and loving it. I'm hoping she doesn't stretch too much further but I'm anticipating raising the lights a foot or so once I get most of the stretching out of the way. I'll most likely put some netting in the tent in a few days so that I can get the canopy perfect again. It's gonna be a strong week of growth for this one. Can't wait to see how it turns out.👌
It's the beginning of week three of flower!!! WOOOO!!!! The plants are starting to stretch quite a bit so it's about time to set up canopy netting to get the canopy more level and even (It'll be here on day 17). I think she's coming along very nicely. The Quantum Kush and the Trainwreck smell fantastic, I cannot get enough. I've added a third ViparSpectra light to the tent putting the wattage of the tent at 3 x 136 Watts for a total of 408 Watts. Adding in the fans at 50 watts for the large 240 CFM fan and the 20 watts for the booster fan we are looking at 478 watts for the total grow. This is just the math from the specifications on all the devices, they could very well be consuming a few more watts or less. I'll need double and tripple check everything once my wattage meter arrives in the mail but I'm fairly confident I've gotten things documented fairly accurately. Enjoy :D
It's the beginning of week 4 of flower ladies and gentleman!
I personally think she's starting to look fantastic as a whole unit. The buds are really starting to put out a lovely aroma as well as they are beginning to really fill out. All the buds on the plant are very dense and thick which is exactly what I want. Quality over quantity every step of the way. You start with quality and then the quantity will show itself those last few weeks of flower because you showed the plant just the right amount of love it wanted. This week will mostly just be a week of a bunch of pictures since we are almost at the halfway point through the flowering. Just want to make sure that everyone gets all the visuals of the tent that they want. If anyone wants specific pictures of any area of the plant please comment below and I'll make sure to get an image of it for you as I always do :D
Cheers everyone!
So I took out the Mammoth P this week and added 1ml of Cal-Mag Pluse because the plants looks like they needed it. We are coming right up on halfway through flowering this week. As you've all seen from the canopy were looking amazing overall as a unit. I honestly could have tied things down better and evened things out more but I just can't risk damaging the plants at this point the way they are all intertwined. I've taken a lot of notes from messing around with such a small space. I'll be changing a few things for the next batch of girls I flower. Still it's darn good for my first tent space. Everything I've ever done I've learned from using a much larger area. This has been a great test of what you can do when you pack full such a tight area. Trying to figure things out for when I run a whole room with a sea of green. Tenting areas this size is fun because the entire grow space is not even 500$. It will certainly pay itself off this time through. 150 grams is all I'll need to make the cost of the supplies be paid off. 250 grams will completely cover the cost of the electricity. There are 16 main colas in the area and the ones I've been featuring in the individual strain pictures is the smallest of the each strain. Those suckers are gonna be 7 grams each most likely once their done growing because we have about 30 days left for them to get about 3/4 ths to twice as big. Not praying for any soda can buds because thats not how I'm trying to make them. Quality over quantity (But my quantity will still m just lets you know when to take things off.atter. lol.) The plan is to trim off the lower stuff thats just not flowering yet. Not much to take off as the plants as the way she was trained left them all tops and secondary nodes that fill the gaps perfectly almost. lol. Enjoy my halfway point through flower everyone :D
We are in week six of flower. WOOOO!
So the Quantum Kush is supposedly ready to be harvested around day 55 - day 60 while the Trainwreck is a supposed to be harvested around day 60 - day 65. This will be the last week that the both of them get nutrients. As you can see from the tips of some of the leaves there is the smallest tiny itty bitty amount of nutrient burn. Nothing that isn't expected to happen at this stage of flowering. I'll be lowering the nutrients this week. Everything is looking pretty darn good as you should all be able to see. The buds are getting very very frosty and starting to get a little bit thicker while also building their overall density. This looks to be turning out to be a very good lot of plants. As I've said before I'm a bit disappointed in my canopy training as I could have done a better job keeping them all even. I'll be sure to correct this issue the next time I flower in this space with 6 plants. (That will be some time from now though as the next batch of flowering plants will be my Ahsoka Tano breeding with itself).
Enjoy the final weeks of my grow :D
Cheers!
Welcome to week 7 of flower! You get a progress video of this week because I was in Alaska on vacation enjoying the Salmon.
They are all in full flush. The Quantum Kush are obviously showing their yellow a bit more as you can see. They will get nothing but water until the day they are done flowering from this point on to make sure we have a clean smoke out of these buds. 2 main colas of the wreck were removed due to mold. Nothing else is infected, thankfully I caught it early. They were smushed against the side of the tent which is probably what caused them to get moldy. The Trainwreck have another week or two till they are done as they take 60-65 days to finish flowering. The Quantum Kush should be ready to harvest at the end of this next week at day 53-55 most likely.
Enjoy!
Welcome to week 8 of flower!
The Quantum Kushes should be done at day 53-55. She's about ready to be taken down and trimmed so she can be hung up for a week and then trimmed off the stems into jars.
The Trainwrecks should finish at about day 60-65. They take just a few days longer than the Quantum Kush. It'll be nice for those two girls to finish their last week in the tent alone.
All in all the plants are all looking fantastic and I'm so eager and ready to harvest them. They'll be getting nothing but water this week and they wont be getting that water until they droop a little to tell me they need it. We are going to make sure that these plants are flushed and clean before we harvest. They smell so beautiful and I can't wait to try them!
Enjoy!
I've loved everything about growing this strain. She's resistant to pests and mold as well as being one of the most potent strains I''ve ever had the privilege of smoking. She takes very well to topping and training as well as being a very fun plant to look at. While flowering she was extremely beautiful to look at and even though throughout Veg they looked like just any other plant but they always had a very interesting earthy sweet aroma that caught your nose every time to you took a peek at them. I'd recommend this strain to anyone who wants to be couch locked almost instantly. She's a beautiful girl and I'll be growing her again and keeping a mother in my garden for the foreseeable future.
DISCLAIMER: 4 plants were harvested in this diary under 272 actual watts of lighting from two 136 actual watt ViparSpectra LED's. Because grow diaries algorithms are incorrect for some reason the website lists the grams per watt incorrectly because it divides the number of grams/watt by the number of plants. In this case it causes my grams per watts to be 4 times lower than what it actually was so I have listed the wattage as 4 times less then it actually was. I apologize if this causes anyone any confusion but It's the only way to have my overall account information to be correct in my profile.
As you can all tell from this diary 4 plants of the Quantum Kush were grown and harvest totaling for 193.93g. at 408 watts of lighting used that equates to about 0.48 Grams/Watt (Grow Diaries Algorithm has the grams per watt incorrectly listed) That means that each plant was around 48.48 grams. As you may also be able to notice the entire grow tent is a 36 inch X 20 inch foot tent totaling for 0.46 Meters Squared for the grow space. I had a really good time growing this strain again. It smokes fantastically and puts me and everyone I know in the best of moods. It's high THC content always catches everyones eyes and ears and they just have to experience it for themselves. Next time I grow this strain (There will be a next time) I'll be training them a little more effectively as well as giving them a bit more love throughout the vegetation process. This strain is a home run in my opinion and anyone who can get some seeds of this should begin growing it immediately. 10/10 for more reasons that I can even begin to say. She's an overall knockout of a plant.
That's all she wrote folks. These terrible little girls are coming down for harvest. I'm not too pleased with these Trainwreck. The conditions that were optimal for the Quantum Kush to thrive in were less than ideal for the Trainwreck to grow in. Theres a bit of foxtailing which could've most likely been avoided if I had dropped the temperature a few degrees F. I don't think I'll be growing this Trainwreck again. While I'm a huge fan of the strain she's just too difficult to grow while having a lower yield as well as a lower THC content than most strains and a longer finishing time than I'd like to have. They've been cut down and wet trimmed while still on their stems so that they can air dry on mother natures perfected drying rack. I'll be posting the harvest information once the buds have dried and cured a bit. This tent has now been cleaned and wiped down to be ready for my breeding project. I hope you all enjoyed this tent grow. I'd consider 2/3rds of it a success. Happy growing everyone.
It's hard to say I disliked growing this strain knowing that most of the reason I don't like it is because I kinda grew it wrong. Trainwreck is an amazing strain with beautiful qualities but she's just too sensitive of a plant for me to want to grow again. If you give her too much water she starts wilting; too many nutrients and she'll burn quickly. Temperature goes above 75 degrees Fahrenheit and she's gonna foxtail on you. She''s an amazing strain but I just don''t think I'll be growing her again due to her complicated nature. There are many much easier and higher yielding strains to grow. That must be why everyone breeds Trainwreck with something a bit more hearty to retain some of the qualities while increasing the yield and THC content.
DISCLAIMER: 2 plants were harvested in this diary under 136 actual watts of lighting from one 136 actual watt ViparSpectra LED's. Because grow diaries algorithms are incorrect for some reason the website lists the grams per watt incorrectly because it divides the number of grams/watt by the number of plants. In this case it causes my grams per watts to be 2 times lower than what it actually was so I have listed the wattage as 2 times less then it actually was. I apologize if this causes anyone any confusion but It's the only way to have my overall account information to be correct in my profile.
As I had said before in the harvest for the Quantum Kush, the conditions that were ideal for the Quantum Kush to thrive in just weren't right for the Trainwreck. In retrospect I should not have grown the two strains in the same tent right next to each other. I did so only because it was convenient for me to do so, so I did. So heres the total harvest information. The Quantum Kush total harvest weight was 193.93 grams. The Trainwreck total harvest weight was 74.54 grams. That puts the total harvest weight for this grow room of .46 meters squared at 268.47 grams. So if we take that 268.47 grams and divide it by our total wattage for the lights which is 408 watts it means I achieved .658 grams per watts for this small grow room.
.65 grams per watt for this entire little space isn't bad in my opinion consider the conditions for two of the plants were less than ideal. This tent was simply a practice of my canopy training which I don't feel that I exceeded at really. Next time I train a canopy in this fashion I believe it'll turn out much better. I think overall it was a nice practice run for exactly what I'll be doing in the future. I hope you all enjoyed.
Cheers!00
Ok , nice grow. Save T5 consumption on the popcorn in the bottom by trimming your plants legs when they will get taller, cuz they will get taller , when I look these plants , they've just finished there transition and flowers are just opening , they will stretch until the buds swell stage , probably 1 maybe 2 more weeks depending on your feeds and water schedules. Just trim the legs to avoid spending energy in the bottom , if you try spending energy on the bottom the plants will finish with more buds for sure, but smaller buds . There's nothing new under the sun , everything has been tested , light come from the sky , this is why the top of the leaves is used to convert the light by hitting the cells full of water and the under surface of the leaves is used to exchange the gas CO2/O2.I will follow your crop with a lot of interest, if you could just add a lil CFL for pictures with true colors it will be awesome 👍
@TheFairyBudMother, I believe they are underrated and for no reason. I have buddies who've done comparison grows side by side. Same Strain, Same nutrients, Same Lighting and one of the grows they lollipoped the bottom of the plant and in the other grow they let the plant just grow. They achieved 20% more flower in the end from not lollipopping their plants. Lolipopping the lower branches of your plant is only effective and needed if you don't have light penetration to those areas. I'll post pictures tonight when my lights come on to show how the light is having no trouble reflecting off the mylar and directly reaching the lower areas of the canopy. If light is hitting a solar panel there is no reason to disconnect the solar panel. (Though thats a bad analogy because solar panels are only as effective as the worst functioning unit in the sequence, but i digress) If they get hit with light they'll yield good buds. Now if we are talking about tertiary and quaternary branches beneath the canopy that are only receiving reflective light and not direct light it might be prudent.
Looks amazing! You're using the same lights I have as well for a comparably sized space. I have my lights oriented perpendicular to yours but my space isn't packed like this (next time, maybe!) nor am I optimizing the use of it. I haven't invested in a carbon filter as I'm legal in Cali and trying not to spend too much $. I also don't want to cause a nuisance or attract any problems and it now smells like Labatts brewery in my bedroom (mmm!!!) and you can catch a whiff of it outside. Any recommendations on the filter? I only close the room off at night to keep light out. In the future I hope to see your training process. Also how high do you keep your lights from the top of your canopy?
@TheFairyBudMother, Samesies :D
I may need to change my ducting around later in flower so that everything is only going through one tent because I am noticing a little residual smell when my automatic glade sprayer runs out of juice. Other than that it does wonders. The smell isn't of utter dankness though, just smells like plants. It could be corn, strawberries, or the most fire nug in a baby tent you've ever seen.
Good luck getting your ducting setup! Zip ties will be your new best friend. Cheers!
@DabCrab, I just ordered filter/fan/ducting. The odor is kind of like when you get near a dispensary. It's my favorite smell but I'd rather not advertise my new hobby.
@AlaskanGrownCaliRaised, Don't get me wrong, you should totally trim your girl up a bit. I just have a very different idea of how thats done than what I see a lot of people do. Around day 20, if you have anything that isn't showing pistols or any kind of resin glands on it you should trim those off. Thats honestly where I take most of my baby clones from if I have forgotten to take some prior to flowering. This time there won't be any need for that as I will be discontinuing my use of The Quantum Kush and Ia buddy has a rooted Trainwreck mom that if I would like to take clones from I may whenever I wish in the future.. Things that aren't flowering aren't needed on the plant. Anything that is flowering you should always keep. Those are were the good .3 - .5 nugs are found :D. You just have to 'talk' to the plant. She'll always tell you exactly what she wants and when she wants it. My future diaries will all be custom strains from this day forward. You'll get to see them made here.
@AlaskanGrownCaliRaised, I would like to state that I don't consider anything that comes out of my mouth to be knowledge or fact; only personal experiences that have taught me a thing or two. Everyone has their own preferences. If you cut everything off the plant it's not hard to deduce that what you don't cut off with grow larger and thicker. Thicker and larger buds on the plant don't always mean higher yield though and it's a common misconception that it does. When you grow an 8 ft plant with a massive wide canopy if you lollipopped the whole thing you'd be losing a 1/4 to a 1/2 pound of popcorn nugs. It's more efficient to supplement lighting and make sure the plant grows as it wants to. You'd never see an outdoor grower lollipop their plants lower half so if you can achieve par lumens on the lower canopy why wouldn't you keep you? You dig mate?
@DabCrab, thanks I just read and apply 😂. Although this 14h light in flower with IR burst scares me but it's almost gotta work. I'm in northern hemisphere about even with Humboldt County if flowering starts August 1 that is a 14h day here. September 25 is the 12/12 day here (this year). Since a 10w plant finishes mid October. What do you think about it?
@Tazard1, I've seen your journals and I'm a huge fan of the way you are doing things :D
Your tent is nice and you've done a great job keeping the temperature down for all those lights being in there. Those plants clearly love the spectrum you are giving them :D
@Tazard1, They appear to be a very interesting combination of hardware. I'm going to have to check them out. I'd love to see what you do with one if you decide to buy one :D
Not pumping a light but I have (5) galaxyhydro 300w (100pcs @3w) UV and IR included. I use 4 to supplement the 1000w HPS and the other is in my clone vegative tent. They also make a 300w with 60 5w diodes unless you have plenty of room stay away from the 5w diodes.
@Tazard1, The technology has certainly come a long way even in the last few years alone. I can't wait to see what comes after COB's. Maybe Super COBS!!!!
@Tazard1, I've always admired Mars Hydro products. They do a good job and have a wide range of options for whatever your needs may be. Viparspectra are my poison at the moment. Gotta love a 300W light that averages 136W of power use. I bought these when they were the first people really using 5 watt diodes.

^^^ A few reviews of them
Now there are many people doing much different things like higher wattage diodes and even the new Chips on board technology (COB's). Once the life of these runs out I'll probably be building myself a COB light just to see for myself what all the hype is about. They've done wonders in a few of my friends gardens so I can't wait to try them out myself.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, There just aren't enough good problems in growing. I'm happy to have one of them. The goal is to achieve the most from such a tiny space. I'm hoping to do that. We shall see :D
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Every time I open the tent they fall out. They are literally being supported by the negative pressure on the tent walls. It's a good time for sure :D
@Tazard1, I currently have no side lighting yet; As for the heat from the 3 LED's, my air filtration system seems to keep things perfectly at 75 Degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks for asking :D
@DeepRoot3d, Thanks buddy. This was just a trial run on me being lazy while also trying something new. Should be fun the next time I really go for it. I learned a lot this time through. Thanks for the kind words :D
@GardenOfHerbs, Yeah, the problem was that the temperature never went above 75 degrees F. She's just such a sensitive plant that it could have been a multitude of problems. Every forum I've read on Trainwreck says that everything can cause her to foxtail. Having the Par be too high can even cause it which is just surprising to me.
So are you refusing to change the diary details which clearly state you must not deliberately mislead , it says 193.93 grams per plant , which is clearly a lie as you grew 4 . Do you want me to send you a screenshot ?
@Teamdirtbag2, Lol, I'm thinking anything with a higher megapixel camera will do a better job. I'm working off of a lowly 8MP phone camera. Soon it shall be much better :D
@Tazard1, I've noticed that you have to pay a heck of a lot of attention to the input system here to make sure things are adequately depicted in your journals. I just want to make sure things are correct or as correct as they can be so people know exactly what I am doing.
