My Monk is doing well, I started feeding light nutes at the end of the week. She's having to contend with some cool nights that are slowing her down, but she's happy and doing well. Virgin Mary Monk is doing well, little slow due to the cool winter temps, but that isn't her fault. Feeding her very mid solution of nutes trying to not burn her. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk What do you call money that grows on trees? A: Marijuana

My monk is doing well, she grew tall so I did some old fashion torture and the first split is done. Growing well, no signs of any problems so far. Ms. Monk likes to grow thick, fast, and bushy. She's a fantastic grower. Went through and cleaned her up a bit. I took the branches I didn't want off, and left the fan leaves aka solar panels on to fuel the beast. Ms. Buddha has a new home, she's now been moved out of the "seedling" box and into a 2'x4' grow then with some nice Samsung Q-series Quantum lights to rain down the photons on her. Ms. Buddha also got a couple new roommates, Sonny and Cher the dynamic sunflower duo. Winter is ending and spring isn't here yet... but any week now... and the sunflower duo need to get pumping up their size so they are ready for the bee hive when it wakes up. Ms. Buddha got a flush, I find this CC/HP soil great, but it's a bit hot especially in a 16 gallon pot. Her runoff PH was down in the low 5's and the ppm runoff started in the 3,000's. I can't do a run off test in the current seedling box so I have to wait until she gets into the tent with a drip tray. Now I got her back up into spec, gave her a good feeding and PH is coming out right. She is already looking better and I suspect she's going to take off like a rocket now. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk What do you call a pothead with two spliffs? A: Double Jointed

She's really taken off, and although she's sharing the tent right now that is going to change as she gets bigger. I've decided to let her rule the 2'x4' tent on her own, I'll veg her out to take up all the room in the tent. How much can one Laughing Buddha produce in a 2'x4' tent, in a 16 gallon pot, all on her own?..?..? You can almost watch her grow! Took the early pictures right after LST, 2 days later took the next pictures. Yes, that is 2 days worth of growth. She is on a tare right now. Starting to up her nutes, she is eating a lot and I don't want her to slow down any time soon. One of her joints show up close I'm a bit worried about, it felt "soft" when I was tying down for LST. Jointing her Royal Monkness this week is Steve, Julie, Tom, and Susie. A quartet from the bell area of the pepper region, they are a singing quartet serenading her Royal Monkness for a little while until they can bring their lovely music outside. 2 are red toned and 2 are stripped holland toned. Miss Monk I has the thickest branches I’ve ever grown, even the veins on the back of the leaves are just massive. Tying her down to the drip table grate is such a nice way to deal with the spread and getting a even/flat starting canopy, I think she'd be a pin puller if I didn't have her tied down this way. The weak joint I was worried about last week has firmed up and seems to be doing well now. I've now topped all the ends this week, she out to 8 nodes. She continues to chow down like a big piggy, run off is always around/under 300’ish ppm, I keep increasing the food but she just keeps eating it and I’m starting to get some yelling on some old leaves. Going to continue upping the nutes I guess. Her Royal Monkness is filling up the tent and sent 2 of her roommates out. She’s now has Julie and Susie over (Aloha Bell Peppers) for some girl time, but I doubt they will be allowed to stay for much longer. Ms. Monk was split to 8 nodes last week and this week she has been taking off running the branches out. The corner fan is now starting be a PITA as Ms. Monk is growing into it. I can raise the fan up but that also means raising the light up and I'd like to keep it low as possible as I'm only running 250w right now on her. She's a beautiful girl, and hungry as hell. I'm upping the nutes to 1,100'ish ppm and even mixing in some micro nutes with her water sometimes. You can a bit of yellowing leaves on the older inside leaves. Her PPM run off has been around the 300'ish mark, so she's eating a ton to take 1,100 down to 300'ish. I'd feel better if her run off was around the 500ppm mark and I'm going to be hitting her with more food more often to try and get it up there as she is so strong I don't want to stunt her due to lack of mutes. I LOVE my drip table, being able to tie her down to is makes life so much easier. I'm sure it's more work then running a scrog (I haven't run a scrog yet) but I love the flexibility and options it gives me. Ms. Monk is indeed a short wide girl right now, the tips of her leaves are just crossing 8" mark from the top of the soil. The tent is 2'x4' and she isn't that far away from the side, I love this main-lining method. Ms. Monk is going strong, lots of growth and she has almost filled in the tent. Lots of strong branches and the leaves are thick and dense, she going to some defoliation soon. I still have’t topped the 8 split yet, been busy and have been reluctant choose the spot to commit the last top…. Or if I should…. Maybe let her be 8 mains and let some of the sub-branches go? Or maybe top at 8 and run it as an 8 split with several “manifold” branches on the 8 split? Not sure yet. She goes through a lot of water and feed, I was giving her 6L feed plus 9L water every other day for a long time. But this last week or two I’ve upped it to 9L feed and 12L water as it wouldn’t get any run off with the 6L/9L I was doing before. Her run off is finally in the 400 ppm’s now. I feel much better getting some 400’s run off, feeding log is attached in the photo’s. April 6 was end of week 12. I’m starting week 13 as veg but not sure I’ll make the full 7 days, she’s begging to be switch to 12/12 and I’m inclined to switch her here fairly soon. Right now I’m working on modifications to some of my lights, the one above her right now can only do 240w max, I want to swap that out for a couple smaller lights for the flowering phase, those couple smaller lights will each do 240w max (total 480w max). But I really want to remove the AC/DC drivers off of the lights and relocate them out of the room. So it’s rewiring the lights, making a external driver panel, and making all the cables/connection to run it. The DC loss with running power lines is massive over a distance, I originally bought 14G wire for this but that soon showed that it wasn’t enough, so now I’m stepping it up to 12G. Relocating the AC/DC driver out of the room will help to mitigate the heat in the room as we are going into spring/summer. Ms. Funny Monk has officially been flipped over to flower. Day 1 of flowering and it’s haircut day for Nom Nom and Ms. Monk. I Thanos’ed her hard, getting rid of the sub branches I didn’t want and direct light on all the tips I want to grow. My S/O has a mini-stroke every time I do this, and I admit it’s a tough thing to purposely go in and chop the living hell out of a beautiful looking girl. But it’s for (say in group mono-tone) “the greater good” and look at the day 7 pictures, she looks bigger, healthier, and thicker then before. Ms. Monk bounces back fast and with authority! On flower day 1 when I Thanos’ed the plant I kept the lights lower, down around the 300w (~37w/sq.ft) mark so as not to overwhelm her as up to now she has only gotten 240w (~30w/sq.ft). It stayed around there all week as I was away for 4 days. On day 7 she’s looking strong and I’ve now increased the power to 450w (~56w/sq.ft) this is a high wattage per sq ft and I’ll be watching her over week 2 to make sure she isn’t suffering from too much intensity. Light is food and I’d like to push her to being the best she can be. I have now added a small Exhale CO2 bad, first time I’ve run a CO2 bag in a grow. I don’t have a CO2 meter (wish I did) so I’m not sure how much it is or isn’t helping. I’m hoping she can take better advantage of the higher light intensity with the extra CO2 this bag should put in the tent. With the switch to flower comes the addition of more nutes and a transition schedule of mixed feeding with a lot more bottles to handle. Veg is nice because addicting the nutes is simple and easy. I picked this week to switch to flower because Ms. Monk is now filling out the 2x4 tent fully, and more importantly I finally finished modifying my lights to move the AC/DC power converters remotely. I wanted to make new control panels for the top of the lights so they looked nicer but I just didn’t have time so I gutted and rewired the existing ones. I also wanted to put nice finished connectors on the wall but again haven’t had time yet so I just put the hole where I wanted it and ran the cables through for now. I’ll put some nice connectors later to make it look nicer and sealed better. The external control unit is basic aluminum panel but functional, I mounted the AC/DC power converters onto an aluminum plate with a master power meter and master power switch for the lights. The connectors/cables are 12G 4 wire multi strand so it can take the bending, has 2 lines for positive and negative DC, and 2 lines for the dimmer control signal. This way I still have the dimmer dial on the lights and can adjust their brightness on the lights themselves. I also kept the DC power meter on the individual lights so that I can see what each light is putting out in the tent and can balance or dial them to the desired wattage easily. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk Why don't stoners get into arguments? A: Because they take the high road.

Nom Nom would like to start off with his story about how hard he works to watch over his plants. Yes a lot of the day he basks under the warm glow of the grow lights. Helps him keep his dark tan and is a nice reminder of the warm sunny weekend that he gets off after along week of work. But like all vigilant cuties he needs to be ready to snap into action when evil shows up, first he needs to assess what sort of danger he is dealing with, and then snaps into action ready to take on any demon no matter how big or small. He puffs up to show how big and scary he can be, flashes his shiny teeth to show them how he's defeated gingivitis, Usually this is enough to scare them away but if it's needed he's not scared to pin them down and lick them into submission. Don’t worry all demons were simulated and none were injured in any way during the making of this documentary :) Picture are from the last 2 days of flowering week 2, and Ms. Monk is doing fantastic. I gave her a heavy prune/lolly popping, this is the 3rd lolly popping since she’s been sent to flower. I’ve been doing a lot of work on tying down and spacing of the flower nodes. Trying to make sure everything gets direct light and nothing is packed too closely. I’m trying to find the balance of a big harvest with enough room for the cola’s have space and air moment between them. She’s defiantly stretched but she’s at the end of week 2 and I haven’t run out of tent yet. I think I’ll have enough room for her complete stretch as there should only be about 1 more week of it. But I think I’m going to need to take off a few more nodes as there are a few area’s where they are a little close together and if she produces big thick cola’s like I hope she does then they might not have enough room. I think maybe 6-10 nodes might need to go, and I’ll want to do that asap so that the energy doesn’t get wasted into those nodes and instead gets to help develop the nodes that are staying. Watering/feeding is every other day and it’s a min of 6L feed and 9L water, but can be 9L feed and 12L water. It’s really dependant on how much foliage is on her, when she has a dense canopy she goes through a lot of water and feed and I got no run off with a 6L feed and 9L water schedule, I need to up it. But when she is all lolly popped and defoliated she doesn’t drink/eat as much and the lower amount is fine as the increased 9L / 12L schedule just means a lot of run off. The stalk on this girl is MASSIVE!!! Even where the 2 way turns to the 4 way split is massive, the stainless steel pins I have there are about ~1.5 inside diameter and she has grown into and around them. I’ve now pulled those pins and just put a wire in that is tied down to the drip tray. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk What is 421 also known as? A: National drug test day.

Ms. Monk is doing well, she is finishing her stretch and is feeding like a champ. Very consistent with the run off from her. Little white crowns are now starting to form and her smell is starting to come in. We were doing work moving the fan around, changing it to an external system and unfortunately the impact drill was dropped and caught a branch and ripped a hole in the fabric pot. The hole in the pot is no big deal but the drill did break the branch. I put a soft wire wrap around it and some liquid cloning agent into the crack. Hopefully she’ll keep the branch but only time will tell. I haven’t really run a flowering in this tent before, I usually run this tent as a veg tent. As such the fan and light assembly is a little cumbersome, in the way, and a little low to be able to get around and work. It will also enable me to vent this fan external if I want as before the fan was venting out the side of the tent where the door opened and I couldn’t run any vent tubes along there or the door wouldn’t open. I’ve made an air filter box that is 27” long, 18” wide, and 17” tall. Placed it above the tent anchoring it to studs on the wall and a truss on the ceiling. The panel that faces the room is removable for servicing of the filter. The filter has been upgraded to an 8” filter form the 6” that was in the tent, the fan is the same 6” fan I had before with a 8” to 6” adapter. I have an 8” tube running from the bottom of the box into the top of the tent. I used scrap wood I had left over from other projects. So some of the box is made with MDF and other panels with plywood. But it's for a filter in the grow room, I'm not to worried about it and if I do want to spiffy it up I can paint it or add a veneer and no one would know. This has been a nice little upgrade as it’s given me more room to move the lights up and has also allowed me easier access to the light ratchet straps. **pro tip, fan’s flow more air then the equivalent size filter, ex 6” fan can flow way more air then a 6” filter will allow. Running a filter that is 1 size bigger then the fan will allow the fan to work in a more efficient/optimal range, will help the fan to run quieter, and will help clean way more air. The filter will also last longer as it has a lot more charcoal in it. Filters prices also don’t jump that fast from size to size, a 8” filter is only marginally more expensive than a 6” filter but will last about twice as long when flowing the same amount of air. Ms. Monk’s stretch is now done, you can see the development of the white crowns starting to take off. They are loosing the green and fattening up. The trunk is just so massive on this girl it’s unbelievable and she still has ~6 weeks to go! The branch that got broken with the filter box installation has a bit of burn on the tips of the leaves from the cloning agent I put on to help her heal up. But she seems to be hanging in there fine, I think the node will survive it’s just a bit of a question of how large will she get with he damage. The humidity is climbing a bit in the room, it’s starting to edge towards the danger zone, I’ve now cranked up the dehumidifier to “Continuously On” mode to extract as much as possible. Nom Nom loves his buddha girl and is back to pose with her. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk What do you get when you eat marijuana A: Pot belly

Ms. Monk is starting to bulk up now, and the smell is PUNGENT!!! It’s a really nice smell, I think it smells like papaya but that is up for debate. I’m a little concerned about the humidity level in the room, I’ve run 4 plants in the room before but the 4 of them all fit in the 1 4x4 tent. This time 3 are in the 4x4 tent and it’s packed wall to wall, and I have this monster Buddha in the 2’x4’ tent. All of them are putting out so much moisture that the 70 pint dehumidifier that is suppose to be good for over 3,000 sq.ft can’t keep this little 100 sq.ft room as low I’d want it. The humidity is usually around 45% but can spiked into the low 50’s. I thought maybe the humidifier was having an issue so I put it to empty into a jug so I could measure it’s output (usually it empties into a 55 gallon barrel I use to water the girls). The dehumidifier was producing about 0.75L in 1 hour, amazing to think this dehumidifier is probably removing more then 18 L a day from the room and still can’t keep up. Not entirely sure what I’m going to do yet, any suggestions would be welcome. I have the 4x4 tent vented externally but the 2x4 tent vents into the room. I think I might run venting pipe next week to get her venting the air outside the room, that should help to remove a bunch of the moisture she produces. I have 2 exhale CO2 bags in the room, I’m thinking I might remove those as well as I’ve heard they can add moisture to the environment. This is my first time running those so maybe they are tipping the room over the edge. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk Two stoners are walking along a rail road track. One stoner says, “This is a really long staircase, man!” The other stoner responds, “I don’t mind the stairs, it’s this fuckin’ low handrail that’s killing me.”

Pictures are from F41 I’ll start off with the positives, Ms. Monk is doing great, she smells intense and absolutely delightful, I wish I could upload her smell as you would all love it I’m sure. The colas are swelling and she looks happy AF. I’m a little surprised by the amount of orange hairs on her considering how many weeks she still has left, but I’ve read that she likes to orange in early. I’ve also read that it’s tempting to harvest her early but it’s best to wait and let her go full term or even long. With all the well-developed cola’s and orange hairs I can see how it’s really tempting to pull her early but I’m in it to win it so I’m going to take the other growers advice (Thanks) and run her to full term. The branch that was injured from the drill that was dropped is doing well, it fattened up and the cola seems fine. So this week was a mad flurry of frustration. The grow room spiked with humidity a few time, not for hours but for minutes. Last week the humidity was flirting with the edge of the acceptable high 40’s% to low 50% range, I didn’t like it and I was investigating then and coming up with ideas/plans to help mitigate it. I have a Frigidaire 70 Pint (33L) dehumidifier. It’s supposed to be able to pull out up to 33L (70 pints) of moisture from the air per 24 hour period. The tank on it is small (5.5L/13pints) but it has a constant drain port on it and so I’ve mounted it on the wall above a 55 gallon (200L) barrel for it to drain into. I use this barrel for plant water; I have to fill it up with the hose every week as I use more than the dehumidifier produces but it’s a nice water reservoir. I then also run a portable A/C and portable room heater to heat or cool as the room needs per season. Above is a picture and layout of the setup. On my previous grow the Frigidaire dehumidifier has been able to keep up with the room, but that only had 2 large plants and 2 small plants (one of which was killed ½ way through flowering due to growing balls). It was also over the winter and although we were really rainy and humid we were also very cool (0-8C) and as such dehumidifying demand might not have been as much as it is now that I have 4 very large plants and it’s a very humid and warm spring. So last week I put a clear bucket under the dehumidifier for an ~hour to see if it was working and I had water in the container so I thought to myself, “it’s fine, it’s working”. My attention then went to the room. The 4x4 tent (with Atomic Bomb, Northern Lights, and Painkiller) I have venting out of the room, the 2x4 tent (with Laughing Buddha) I had venting into the room. So my thought was that the moisture that the large Laughing Buddha was putting out must be pushing the rooms humidity too high for the dehumidifier to handle. In a mad panic I attached some piping (luckily the previous house owners had left some vent piping laying around in the rafters of the garage). I took that and ran it over to the exhaust box I had made previously, I even had a port on it ready for a hook up if I needed/wanted. I watched the humidity drop and the next day things were better, but still not fantastic. It got me down in the safe range again, but just barely. I was also having spikes (not short ones) in the humidity. So I started looking at the WEMO recorded data I had for the dehumidifier (I run all the lights, AC, heater, and dehumidifier on WEMO’s). I noticed that the dehumidifier was dropping power consumption from 500w to 50w when the spike would start and was not kicking back up to 500w for a long period of time. At 50w it’s only running the fan not the compressor that is needed to dehumidify. This normal way it operates when it hits it humidity level set it turns the compressor off to save energy, but the problem was it was way above that humidity level. I thought this might be a sensor issue, but no problem the dehumidifier has a “constantly on” setting where it won’t listen to the sensor it will just stay on all the time. I put the dehumidifier over to this setting and it should never kick down to “fan only” mode. But low and behold it did, the dehumidifier was kicking down to fan only mode several times a day and for hour+ time periods. My problem was a faulty dehumidifier not a tent venting issue. So I ran out to Lowes that evening and picked up a new dehumidifier, I checked for a different model online but the Frigidaire is still the one with the best review by a mile, so I picked it up again thinking that I might just have a dud. I called up Frigidaire and they said they will warranty the original one, so I need to file some paper work and I should get a replacement unit in a few weeks for the dud one. I ran a test on the old faulty dehumidifier and it’s pulling about 10L/24 hour period, it’s not completely dead but it’s not running anywhere near the 33L/24h that it’s supposed to do. I only got to run the new dehumidifier for a couple days before this week was over but it’s looking good, humidity levels have dropped down and hopefully I caught it early enough. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk Why is the roach clip called a roach clip? A: Because pot holder was taken.

Pictures are from F48 Ms. Monk is doing well, she is fattening up and getting super frosty. Her smell is intense and very pleasant, when I’m trimming leaves the the stickiness in instant and overwhelming. She has a lot of orange on her, wasn’t expecting so much orange on a girl who is only 48 days old. The humidity issues I’ve had over the past few weeks really have me worried. I only had it go over 55% once and only for a couple hours, so I’m crossing my fingers and hoping everything is ok. I’m now running 2 dehumidifiers, I have my new one that is on the stand and feeding it’s run off into my watering bucket. I’m using the broken one, it still works but not 100%, it only pulls about 1/4 of the water it’s suppose to. But it helps a bit so I’m using it as well. It’s on the floor and I drain the bucket 1-2 times a day. It produces about 8L per day (way down from the 33 it’s suppose to produce). The humidity is now sitting in the 37-43% range all the time, so I’m golden as long as I can hold this. The whole humidity issue I went thought the last couple weeks made me go looking for more information about it. One thing that really bugged me was that I wasn’t getting the same humidity reading from my 2 sensors in the room (each tent has it’s own sensor as well but I expect that to be a little different). So I did a bunch of reading and analysis and it turns out most of the common humidity sensors are really only good to +/-4% at best. That means that if your sensor is reading 50% that it could be anywhere within 46%-54% or potentially more. The best one I’ve found so far that isn’t insane money is the Oasis Caliber IV (https://www.amazon.com/Cigar-Oasis-Caliber-Digital-Hygromter/dp/B00JXOKQVW/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=oasis+caliber+iv&qid=1559491157&s=gateway&sr=8-1) it’s suppose to be +/- 1% humidity reading. So 50% reading would mean it’s 49%-51% humidity, this is a lot more accurate. The only thing that bugs me about it is that it doesn’t connect to an app so I can see how it’s tracking through the day. All the ones that I research that connect to an app are at best usually +/-4% and the best ones are +/ 3%. But that isn’t really true either!!! Because it’s only +/- 3% or 4% in a “window” and that window is usually 60-75% once you below 60% the accuracy degrades. So during flowering when we want the humidity to be in the 40-50% range the accuracy of most of these sensors degrades to being +/- 6%, yes 6%. So a 50% reading could be 44% or 56% and this is assuming that the sensor is operating correctly and that you have calibrated it. How to calibrate your hygrometer - grab a mason jar and boveda packs (49% are preferred as this is the range we want to be in). Put the boveda packs in the jar with the hygrometer and close the jar. Let it sit for ~3 hours, the humidity in the jar should now be the same as the boveda packs number (49% if you used the 49% packs). If your sensor is not reading this number pull it out and adjust it, place it back in the mason jar with the lid closed and give it an hour or two to make sure it’s reading the correct number now. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk How many potheads does it take to change a lightbulb? Screw it, we’ve got lighters.

All pictures are from F55 Ms Monk is doing very well, she if PHAT and FROSTY! I am having some issue with heat though, running two 70 pint dehumidifiers is keeping the humidity down low now (high 30's to low 40's) but the heat that they produce combined with the warm and sunny weather (24-26C) we have been having is causing the room to jump in heat. The room is hitting 26/27C and the tent is hitting 29C. I rushed putting in an exhaust fan into the peak of the garage roof to help lower the temps in the garage. My grow room is an insulated room in the back of the garage with a portable A/C in it, but it uses the garage air to cool the A/C so as the garage heats up the A/C has to work harder to try and cool the room and with the hot temps in the garage it isn't getting cooled enough. The the vent in the peak of the garage the temp dramatically came down, the garage was hitting 32-33C inside on days of sunny with 24-26C outside. Now with the vent the garage is staying at ~28C when the outside is sunny and 26C, with the grow room being able to hold down around the 24C max temp. Ms. Monk has some weight to her now, you shake a bunch a bit and you can feel the mass at the end of her moving. She is getting some taco'ing from the the heat and her hairs are really turning deep orange now, hard to believe I still have another 15-20 days left. I've read not to harvest her early to let her go full term so that's what I'm going to do, but if I didn't know that I'd be looking to harvest her very soon. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk Yo’ Mama is like marijuana — everyone does her, but no one admits it.

Heat is continuing to be a problem, the venting fan in the garage has worked and worked well. Anything that is a 28C or less day the grow room is fine. The problem is we have started to hit 32-34C high's and it's too much for the A/C. As a final measure I've now changed the grow room lights to come on at midnight and turn off at noon. This has greatly helped reduce the heat in the room, with the lights off in the room during the day the A/C is able to ride in the 26-27C. The nights are about the same, it's just not cooling off at night but without the sun beating down it can maintain the room at 26-27, just had a couple pikes into 28C. Not much more I can do with only a couple weeks left, I don't really have any other quick short term idea's to make this better. Hopefully the heat will break soon. Other then that as you can see Ms. Monk is doing well. Still some leaf taco'ing from the heat but she is thick and gorgeous. Starting to cut back the nutes now, nixed the bud candy and the diamond nectar, reduced everything else. My heart really wants to harvest her, seeing all the orange and frostiness I want to take her down. But my head says it's day 60 you need to wait to 70+, and nice my head runs the hands I guess she is staying put for now. The stalk is incredibly thick, this girl is a monster!!!! Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk I got pulled over by a police officer and his dog sniffed the car for drugs. The cop comes over and says to me, “My dog says you have weed in the car.” I responded, “Well I don’t know about that, but I want whatever’s got you talking to the dog!”

Miss Monk is coming close to the end now. Lots of amber and lost of wonderful smells. This is week 10 and the end of the week is F70, as such the suggested harvest window is F70 - F75 and we are now at the edge of the window. I'd harvest it today (F70) honestly if I could but my S/O is out of town and I'd have trim jail all to myself. So she will have a few more days and will be harvested on F73. She is now in flush/water only for the last week, her last few feedings where reduced and the ppm run off just collapsed. Now that it's water only it dropped down to 190 the first watering, and down to 100 the 2nd watering this week and then to 80ppm on the 3rd watering. She's been so hungry for so long there just isn't anything left in the soil anyways. Her colours are coming in strong now, I think it's mainly from the lack of nutes that she wants as such a hung girl. The ambient heat outside is still a PITA, but at least it'll be over soon. I've had to turn the lights down to 300w to try and reduce the heat. It's starting to be the guessing game now of how many Oz's will she produce net dry? 300-450w flower and 0.7 sq m what will the results be..... Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk If the whole world smoked a joint at the same time, There would be world peace for at least two hours, followed by a global food shortage.

Miss Funny Monk, is doing great. It's flower day 73 and it's harvest day. NomNom has done his job and brought his big girl to harvest. She is thick, frosty, and her smell is thick in the air. Her trichomes are very amber, buds very sticky. The taco'ing on the leaves is extreme, the temp has been high. Unfortunately we have had a few banana's on her, but I blame the high temps on that. The Northern Lights is having the same issue with the heat, some taco'ing but even more banana's. However my Atomic Bomb (Bomb Seeds) and Painkiller (Royal Queen) haven't had any taco'ing of the leaves or banana's so they seem to be more resistant to the heat. The main stem on her is as thick as my wrist, the branches are all very strong and I've only had to support 2 cola's, one because I dropped a drill on it and broke the branch and the other because it twisted the wrong way. Next update will be the harvest numbers and we will find out a single Laughing Buddha in a 2'x4' tent can produce. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk A pothead finds a strange-looking old oil lamp in the trash and rubs it to clean it up a bit when suddenly a genie popped out of it. “Congratulations, you freed me from my captivity! I will grant you three wishes for releasing me!” The pothead does not think twice and says “OK, for my first wish – I want a never ending blunt made from the finest Acapulco Gold weed!” And *poof* he has a fat 6 inch blunt in his hand. He takes a few tokes and is delighted by the extremely nice flavour and high, sits back and relaxes. The genie reminds him “Hey, you have two more wishes, remember?” “Oh, yeah…let me see…I’ll have two more of these!”

👉The Good😋 Miss Monk has been a hell of a fun girl to grow, she has grown big fat colas with big fat buds. She if very pungent in smell with a very papaya tone to her while growing. Now that she is dried and 1 month cured I can tell you she still has retained that tropical papaya smell to her with some backup notes for sweet and fruity. Vaping her I find the taste to be on the Earthy and Pine side with just the lightest hint of a little skunk. It’s very pleasant and nice, but the fruity sweet tones weren’t there in the vape and that’s ok. Some of the other fruity and sweet weed out there get tiring and overbearing after a couple days. Having an earthy pine taste to her makes her a bit more “classic” and it’s a taste that is nice long term day in and day out. Her effects have changed a lot in the last month. Smoking her right after she dried vs a month into cure is 2 very different experiences. Right after we she finished drying, she was peaky in the high, very energetic, and was very hard to sleep on. Now that we are a month in the cure she has mellowed out a lot. The high is more blunt, last longer, and very smooth. She still a sativa and she’s not going to couch lock you, but she makes you want to do more creative or interactive activates like reading a book, drawing, playing an instrument, or video games. Now that she is cured I can also sleep on her, she won’t really put you to sleep but she will let you and will give you nice creative dreams. Barney’s Farm lists her as an 80% Sativa, and I’m not use if it’s just my pheno but I would have rated her more along the 60% Sativa scale. She is still talkative, engaging, and interactive, but it’s more like a nice coffee house high with your friends, or it’d be awesome to smoke during a night of billiards. 👉The Bad😟 I had some excess heat issues in the grow room, and my Funny Monk really didn’t like the excess heat. Now keep in mind this is 28-30C at the hottest points, the excess heat was just that, excess, it wasn’t extreme. Miss Monk had taco’ing leaves fairly badly, she also produced ~5 bananas across the entire plant that I found. I marked the cola’s that I found banana’s on and kept them separate for me to smoke first. I can tell you that I have yet to find a seed and that makes me very happy. 👉Harvest In Numbers🙏 450w LED above her (From the wall) 7.53 sq.ft (0.7 sq.m) 2,137 g (75.38 oz) Wet Total 452.5 g (15.96 oz) Dry Total 21.2% Net dry weight 23 weeks growing 1 week drying = 24 weeks total 452.5 g / 24 weeks = 18.85 g / week (0.67 oz /week) 452.5 g / 47 branches = 9.63 g / branch (0.34 oz / branch) 452.5 g / 450 watts = 1.01 g / watt 452.5 g / 0.7 sq.m = 646.4 g / sq.m Miss Laughing Buddha was in her own ~2’x4’ measuring it out it’s a little under that so I used 0.7 sq.m or 15.1 sq.ft as the actual size. I used a max of 450w during flower, but with the heat issues I was having (due to the 30 C outside temps) she only had 450w for about ~2 weeks of flower. The rest of the time the LED light power was below 450w and I’d say the majority of the time she only got around ~300w of power. However I’m going to use the 450w for the calculation as that is the peak that she received. Barney’s Farm quotes her as 600 g/sq.m and she outperformed that with 646.4 g/sq.m showing that their estimate is well within reason. She produced 1 g/watt and I consider that a very conservative estimate since most of the time she was down around the 300w range. If I did the numbers with 300w she’d be up in the 1.5 g/watt area, I think the truth for this girl is somewhere between those two numbers. 21.2% net dry is prefect for this girl, it’s right in the sweet spot that I usually see. A very impressive (especially with the long flower time of her at 73 days) of 18.85 g/week growing. 👉Final Thoughts👈 I think one of the reasons why my girl has come out more on the “relaxing” end and not as much on the “energetic” side is because of her ripeness when harvesting. She ripened more then I think I was supposed to let her. She had tons of amber through her trichomes, just riddle with them, and I think that is why she more on the relaxing end. Not sure shy she ambered in so fast and dense, but I don’t regret it one bit. I have lots of energetic sativas and I really like her mellow side to her, it’s still happy, active, and engaging but her mellow side makes her great for an engaging in evening with friends. A very very nice sativa that has the relaxing effects that I love after a long week of work. I’m giving her a 9/10, I think she is near perfect but I’m deducting 1 point for the sensitivity to the heat that she showed. I would definitely recommend anyone to give her a grow, she is very easy to grow and will make you feel like a superstar with the yields and quality that she produces. I’ll be growing her again in the future and I’ll be growing her during the winter so I can control the temps more easily. Not sure if I’ll send her to a lab for testing or not. I’ll update with the results if I send her to the lab.

The Funny Monk I grew in her own tent so that I could see what I could produce from a single plant in a 2x4 tent. I’ve never set out to do one on its own like this and the plan was to get her to fill the tent wall to wall with buds. She did not disappoint, she made a beautiful canopy and produced almost 650g/m.sq. All the flowering nutes sheets are attached so you can see how she fed and what the run off was like. She was a good eater and I only did one mid-flower flush on her. As I came to the end and started to only water her, she drove her PPM run off to nothing very quickly as she was trying to eat up all she could. She is very strong, grows thick branches that can easily support themselves and responds well to training. IMO she is one of the easiest plants to train. I did damage her by nearly ripping a branch off due to a drill falling and hitting her. She healed up the node very quickly and didn’t have any lasting negative effects on that cola or the one adjacent to her. The sad part is I think I might have been able to get even more out of her, if you can believe that. At veg week 12 she hadn’t filled up the tent edge to edge yet, but looking out of my timeline I needed to send her to flower because I had a vacation book and I needed her done and dried before I left. At week 12 veg she wasn’t edge to edge on the tent but I figured that I could use the stretch phase to get her that, and it worked. The only problem with doing that is that I lolly-popped her a bit too much and the part that was left to grow vertically after she reached the edges was fairly short. But it’s really hard to be disappointed with ~16oz from a 2x4 tent with super dense awesome buds. If I could go back, I would have liked to let her have another ~15cm (6”) more vertical length on each cola, I figure all it would have taken is another 7-10 days in veg. This would have given her more bud sites to develop and probably would have produced even more weight. As it was, she produced cola’s that were a bit shorter then I was hoping for but every bit as fat and dense as anyone could hope for. Peace, Love, and a Corny Joke from the Funny Monk Why did the pot head plant cheerios? He thought they were donut seeds. MORE GROW INFORMATION --------------------------------- I grow in “Pro-Mix CC/HP” I put about 3cm (1”) perlite layer in the bottom of the pot and then the CC/HP soil mixed with about 15% more perlite for the rest of the pot. I always put all the water in the pot first, so if it says 9 L water 6 L mix, 9 L of water is put into the pot first and let able to be absorbed. Once the water is all in and absorbed through I put the feed mix in, so in the instance 6L of the feed mix. I do this for a couple reasons; 1) by putting the water through first it moistens the soil and helps to make sure the feed goes in more evenly. 2) by putting the water in first it helps ensure that the run off that I’m reading is mostly water that has flowed through the pot, rather then the nute feed mix that I’m newly adding. 3) I use 16 gallon pots and my goal is to get min 3L to 5L run off to measure. The bottom of the fabric pots get dried/condensed nute on the bottom, I try and wet that and toss away about the 1st litre of liquid dripping from the pot as this will read higher/hotter then the pot actually is. 4) by soaking the pot with water first I have found that “hot spots” in the soil are drastically decreased resulting in stronger plants and faster growth. I water and feed on the same day and then let the plant sit until she is dry on the outside of pot and the top ~6+cm (~2+ inches) of soil is dry. The amount of foliage on the plant and the humidity in the grow space are the biggest factors in determining how often she needs to be watered and fed. You will see in some diaries I’m water/feeding every other day and in others it’s up to 4 days between watering/feeding. It’s a balance you need to find and I’ve had it where 2 different plants in the same tent have one plant getting watered every other day and the other plant getting watered every third day. ***pro tip, if I’m going away for a few days or for a week or 2 on vacation, I’ll often defoliate the plants the day before I go if they can handle it. This makes it so that they consume less water and can go a bit further while I’m away, plus it’s less of a jungle mess when I get home. >>>Nutes Sheet Short Hand Explanation >>> I tried to put it here but the formatting ended up all wacky so I'm going to put it in a image and attach it above. From what I’ve read and from my experience I ideally want a 40-50% drop from what I feed. So if I feed 1,000 PPM I would ideally like to see 500-600ppm in my run off. This tells me that the plant is feeding well and has enough food that it’s not starving. If I start to see the PPM’s climb up to ~600-650 I’ll feed a bit less PPM and/or litres of feed, or add a bit more water. If I see ~700 then I’ll do a small flush and get the PPM’s back down into the ~300 range and start to feed again. The PH I look for 6.4 - 6.6 as ideal, the the PH is above or below that then I’ll PH correct the water going in a little higher or lower, as well as adjust the PH of the feed a little higher or lower to help push it back into the 6.4-6.6 window. However the feed I will never go lower then 6.0 or higher then 6.8, above or below that I feel is too extreme and can effect the plants ability to feed. If the PH is below 5.8 or above 7.2 then I’ll do a flush with water that is PH corrected until I get run off between 6.3 and 6.8 PH.

@NomNom, cool info thanks. I am a big fan of DIY stuff. I work alot with my hands, building custom rc's and shit. I recently did a bunch of custom wiring of Phillips hue smart strip lights on some display racks and in my kitchen with motions sensors. So i am no stranger to a soldering iron. If i can ever find the space for another tent i am sure i will build my own!

@Cultus, Right now that light is 2 feet wide by 4 feet long, running 8 strips at 3000k and 8 strips at 3500k, 16 strips total. Each strip is 2 feet wide and the total power output of the driver is adjustable upto a maximum of 240w. You can see in the image there are 8 "pairs" of heat sinks, each pair has a 3000k and a 3500k side by side. You can also see a switch on the bar right above it, this is so I can turn each individual strip on or off, useful for smaller plants that I don't want to light the entire tent for, or if I just want to run the 3500k during veg. This light is about to get upgraded though, I'm adding 4 more strips to it (2 @ 3000k and 2 @ 3500k) to bring it up to 20 strips total and then it will be edge to edge light as well. I will also be adding a 2nd driver at that time to increase the output to a maximum of 480w. I already have a light in this configuration in my 4x4 tent, I'm just expanding this one to match that one. I also have two lights that are in a 2 foot x 2 foot configuration that run 240w each and they run 10 strips total half 3000k and 3500k. The 2 foot x 2 foot ones are getting some modifications to them right now to move the AC to DC converters out of the tent/room for summer, currently all the AC-DC drivers are mounted to the lights. Once that is done they will be placed in this tent over the laughing buddha. This current 240w 2 foot by 4 foot light will come out and get its upgrade/modifications and move into the 4x4 tent over top of the Atomic Bomb, Northern Lights, and Painkiller I have growing in there right now. It's a chain of upgrades to the lighting/grow setup over the next month or so.

I need a lot to be impressed by a diary and a plant to make me stop on it ... I’m gonna put away the fact that it would have token the same amount of time and energy ,from seeds to harvest, with 4-6 plants and should be harvesting , ok !? But , meeen , you have grown an award winning phenotype ! Your mainlining is absolutely spectacular, you have manufolded this plant like a master would have done... Yep, I won’t understand how you could not be the next winner when you’re gonna harvest this beauty ! Seriously, congratulations 👍

@NomNom,I see , 4 plants limit, so yes I agree, you need to grow some serious roots if you wanna get the fruits that you need ! You’re in Canada ?
NomNom
NomNomcommented6 years ago
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Thanks for the compliments and kind words. It's much appreciated and great to hear from someone with your experience. I agree with you that growing 4-6 plants in this area and only vegging them for 6-7 weeks would yield a similar amount of bud, and would do it 5-6 weeks sooner. Why I grow big plants like this is because where I grow it's legal for anyone to grow with limitations. One of those is a 4 plant limit, and I try to stay inside that 4 plant limit. I've worked hard over the years to buy my own house and I don't want to loose it to the piggies because I got busted for growing a few to many plants. What I'm doing is growing 4 large plants at the same time, right now I have this girl (Laughing Buddha) in a 2'x4' then and I also have a second tent (4'x4') that I'm growing 3 other plants (Atomic Bomb, Painkiller, Northern Lights). I'm a little behind in the diaries. For me grow area is virtually unlimited with only 4 plants to accommodate, really what I need to look at is the amount of bud harvested in grams/week. So with my first diary I cloned a plant twice, so that I had 1 plant that had virtually 3 start dates that were the same pheno. What I realized is that vegging for 10-12 weeks drastically increases the amount you can yield from the plant but only adds 4-6 weeks to the overall grow time. Seedling time (first 6 weeks), flower time, and drying time (1 week) all stay static, so on something like this Laughing Buddha that has a 10 week flower time running something in seedling for 6 week, then 10 weeks flower, then 1 week drying you are looking at 17 weeks total. Running this out to 12 weeks veg increases it from 17 weeks to 23 weeks total, adding 35% more time to the grow. But what I've found is that I got about double the amount of bud in the end. 35% more time for 100% more bud is math I can understand. Simple as that, just trying to get as much grams/week as I can. Cheers!

@Cultus,Thanks, but the gnarled mess always seems to happen when they go into their flower stretch. I'm not there yet so I still have time to end up in a gnarled mess too. My Blueberry was a massive gnarled mess, but she did produce a huge crop of excellent bud so I forgave her.

Beautiful pics and grow, hope you are the winner of the contest if you enter in those things here. Looking at the tables quickly, I dont really understand the fertilizer mix. I noticed your runoff is usually like 50% lower than the input. I also see "Mix 6L, water 9L" for example. Does that mean you are combining 6L of the nutrient solution in an additional 9L of water? Also curious about the medium here.. looks like some kind of peat mix with fiber and bark?

@NomNom, Woah, 20 ppm tap water! Haha we are kinda in the same boat. I dabbled with bare nutrients too, some calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate etc. In the end I felt like nothing really matters much; I dont really have deficiency or apparent toxicity issues and am also happy with the way things go. Totally agree about the environment, much more important... sounds like you are in an area that gets hot summers. I'm blessed that the hottest days here are usually 'only' 90-95 F, and not common. Using many led strips to spread the current has helped me keep normal leaf temperatures. Good luck with the next grow my friend 👍

@BillMonroe, Thank for the info, I've read a lot about PH and PPM, I know about the 1 EC = 500 ppm or 700 ppm issue, that's why I always quote ppm's rather than EC. I haven't calibrated my ppm meter, that is something I should probably do, but I do have 3 ppm meters, from 2 different manufactures, and they all agree within ~20 ppm's. The PH I've read that I should be 5.0 to 6.0 and 5.5 to 6.5 and 6.0 to 7.0, I tried running down in the high 5's before and I had more issues. I tend to feed around the ~6.2 PH and that give usually give me a nice run off in the mid 6's. However my Painkiller XL (Naughty Nurse diary) I had to feed up in the 6.8 range because the run off was always in the low 6's, not sure why that plant went that way but it did. She still did very well and so in my mind it validates the whole 6.0-7.0 ph range that I trying to stay within. I had a lot of issues in my first grow and into my second grow with odd deficiency issues showing up on the leaves. I read a lot about PH, PPM, and different things to try. I ordered bare nutrient elements so I could add extra bit of just certain things. I played with PH and knew I was missing something but couldn't figure out what for a long time. During my 2nd grow I actually stumbled upon a article from someone who was using reverse osmosis water, they were having these weird issues like I was having. It turned out that the water was too clean and he lacked the micro nutrients that are usually in the water. My water here is very nice, clean, and low ppm, it comes out of the tap at 10-20 ppm. I started adding micro nutrients to my grow and immediately the plants did much better, were way happier, and the weird deficiency signs I was seeing on the leaves disappeared and have never returned. I'm not saying I'm growing the best or "correct" way, but I seem to have found a nice balance that the plants like and they give me good yields. My mind is open to change and I'm just starting a grow with BioBuzz nutrients, but it's a bit hard to make changes when I'm getting great results and not showing deficiencies or problems. To be honest I'm more looking at environmental solution now. I have an A/C and 2 dehumidifiers, in the summer humid heat during flowering when I need the humidity down the dehumidifiers push the heat up as the A/C is trying to pull the temp back down. It's a vicious circle that I haven't got balanced yet and is expensive to run. In the winter when the cooler temps it's easy to keep the room in check temp and humidity wise. I feel there is more for me to gain with optimizing my room air flow/humidity/temp/etc right now. I'm starting to look at CO2 options, they apparently can help extend out the heat range of the plants better. But that is a lot of investment in more equipment, and to be honest I'm now drowning in weed for the first time in my life and I'm not sure I want to keep growing at the pace.

BillMonroecommented6 years ago
@NomNom, Cool, thanks for the info! I'm growing in a similar medium From what I've gathered over the months, when it comes to runoff, peat seems to be the most mysterious medium. Check out this interesting article about PH and peat from promix. https://www.pthorticulture.com/en/training-center/myth-series-water-ph-relates-to-medium-ph/ Personally I try to keep the runoff near the level of the input water. I don't really know how it works, I guess some elements get stuck in the soil due to cation exchange and other things. When my runoff is 1.2 EC and I add some 2EC water later, the runoff doesn't immediately change. Oh well, as long as it works :) BTW is your PPM meter calibrated? I have a cheap PPM pen and used some EC1.413 calibration solution to test it. You may know that these PPM pens actually measure EC and apply a conversion rate to give a PPM value. There are 2 standard ratios, 1EC = 500ppm (NaCl) or 1EC = 700ppm (KCl). Well, it turned out that my meter was closer to 1EC = 360ppm. So for over half a year I was feeding about 38% more than I had intended to. 😅 (since the TDS 500 scale is based on NaCl, you could make your own test solution with distilled water and salt)

@JohnnyBlaz3,Hi, thanks for the kind words.I've been following your grow since you started it because I was planning to run this strain. You're blazing the trail for me to follow. I'm very interested in seeing how much stretch you get going into flower so I can have an idea on what to plan for. I'm behind on this diary, I'll be updating it several times over the next couple weeks. I'm planning to switch to flower sometime around the start of April. By the way I see you are running R/O, if you start getting deficiency signs you might need to add in some Micro nutes to your feed or water. The R/O takes all the micro out and depending on the nutes you run it might not have enough of them. Just a heads up, speaking from experience here.

@Burnweed, Thanks, and I'm glad you found it helpful. I try to be honest and fair in my diaries because that's the information I'd like to get. We have found no seeds so far in the buds, and we are about 1/2 way through the harvest. So the banana's were most likely immature and couldn't pollenate anything.

@Cultus, I’m a bit behind on the diary she is already harvested and dried so I know the answer. But I’ll tell you what my honest guess was pre-harvest. I expected 13+ oz and thought that it would come in at 16oz. My guess was based off of the light wattage, figures it’d come in somewhere between 0.9 and 1.1 grams per watt.
