TickleToast One gal was NOT happy after exploding into the bucket. After her roots took off, she started feeding on herself - dropped her lowest canopy and clawed/drooped heavily D::: She got a bucket swap, florakleen bath (now flashkleen), and a light root pruning. The next day she was perky and happy again as shown, fingers crossed she makes it through flower without dropping any pollen!!!! ~~~ This is a perfect example as to the importance of a "Dry RootZone" in hydroponics. (use peat, rockwool etc. & have a ground to stand on!!! - hydroton, shredded rockwool, anything that's flat and simulates steady ground/earth!) If something happens to your plant and it recoils and starts to feed upon itself heavily like mine above - then your dry root zone will then act as a buffer against whatever is happening below. it gives you a chance to DO SOMETHING. This Does.Not.Exist.In.Soil. or coco systems. Because this dry rootzone is present, your allotted time to not just identify the issue, but address it. TickleToast Looking good! Small gall picked up as projected - 7 days with the right amount of love and Night & Day difference :))) Small bottom-canopy defol & some center leaves cramping things up. Flip to flower soon! ~~~~~~~~~~ First attempt at making Bubble Hash went very well! The Vortex 9 set worked perfectly, I would recommend. The bags are a great material and water resistant letting no trichomes stick, Food Grade Filter Stir Guard is a nice plus. ~~~ 2nd bubble hash run went even better, as I had learned a great deal from the previous. 4 Runs with the Vortex 9 at 10-20 minutes a run seems to be the sweet spot, Close to what that directions will tell you - 20-minute runs, but I'd do 5 mins 1st if you're chasing the purest grade / 10 minutes / 10 minutes / 20 minutes and stop. TickleToast Plant on the left is a prime example as to why 2'' from netcup IS NOT optimal for DWC. You have a dry root system and dormant roots - if you push a few inches into your netcup at fill (half and half - few inches under, few inches dry) then you will allow for *drought stress. Potentially allowing some of those dormant roots to explode into the bucket as it drains - and in my experience you end up with less cord roots this way. TickleToast See what I mean? ;) It's almost ANNOYING. Your roots push out and fill the 5g bucket and start to prune themselves - a good thing. BUT now you have less space for nutes, oooooof! this means refilling more frequently... Worth it! That plant will push past a 1lb, it's pretty much guaranteed :) ~~~ No more Radix (this stuffs is magic btw - best stuff outa Canada imo) better than clonex + rapid start.
