THURSDAY 3/7:
Due to an extremely poor germination/emergence rate with most of my recently purchased seeds, I decided to soak a bunch of recently harvested seeds that resulted from nanners on one of my Candy Canes pollinating a few flowers on a nice specimen C4 I grew next to it. I'm hoping for great hybrid vigor and something special to smoke!
SATURDAY 3/9:
3 of them have sprouted and were planted in rockwool cubes.
MONDAY 3/11:
Will probably plant them in 5 gallon pots tomorrow..rooted nicely.
TUESDAY:
7.5 out of 9 have emerged thus far..most seem rooted well already. I really hate to have to cull the weaker ones in a few days, but I've only got so much space (and recharged soil) to work with..
WEDNESDAY:
I planted 5 of them in 3 gallon pots today.
THURSDAY:
I planted another one in a 3 gallon pot today. That's a total of 6 x Candy Cane * C4.
The three remaining seedlings aren't rooted well enough yet, and I might not even have the space for them anyway..
FRIDAY:
I planted one of the remaining 3 seedlings in a 3 gallon pot today.
SATURDAY:
One of my Candy Canes in a 5 gallon pot withered and died, so I split that soil and a little extra I had leftover into two 3 gallon pots and planted the last two CC x C4 sprouts in them. So, that's 9 total CC x C4 seedlings planted and growing.👍
SUNDAY:
All 9 x seedlings are doing well-
WEDNESDAY 3/20:
All nine seedlings are doing well. I added about another 100w of 440nm blue and 6500k cool white light to the tent today and increased the blurple light from 18 to 20 hours per day.
SATURDAY 3/23:
Today I moved everybody into the big tent so I could clean up the small tent and set it up for flowering. I dimmed it to about 80% and placed my blue panels above my bars, so it peeks between them, and have 4 total blue 24w miracleLEDs in there as well. Temps are warmer than I'd like, (90f) but it's just for a day or two. I'll get the other evaporative cooler tomorrow...that should help in the small tent.
I'm not sure which plants will be in the 4 x 5 and which will be in the 4 x 4 tent, but I'm thinking I'll grow the CC x C4's in the 4 x 5 tent along with the CC x Amnesias and the Mystery seedling..
I'm pushing 1010 actual watts of light in the 4 x 5 and up to 950 actual watts in the 4 x 4 (blurple-367w, 3 x 100w COBs, 1 x 120w QB, 2 x 26w red panels, 2 x 36w red floods, 4 x 36w bar side lights)
So, I really don't think it's gonna matter much, in terms of wattage per square foot, which plants get grown in which tent.
And, in terms of environment, it should also be nearly identical conditions because I'm gonna try a partial closed-loop ventilation method:
440cfms of my 80-85f-ish air will be exhausted through a carbon filter in the top of the the big tent, through 10 feet of duct, and into the small tent, directly over the blurple light. 390cfms of the 80-85f-ish air in the small tent is simultaneously exhausted through 10 feet of ducting back into the bottom of the big tent. I've also got a 240cfm duct booster fan exhausting from the top of the big tent through a carbon filter in the room where the tents are...right next to an open window...this allows me to keep negative pressure on both tents and to evacuate some of the warmer air out of the house.
I have the a/c register above the tent ducted directly into the top of the big tent, so whenever the a/c kicks on, fresh-filtered 72f air is pumped into the tent for a few minutes, bringing down the temps about 5-10 degrees each time. There will also be a 75w evaporative cooler circulating water-cooled air in each tent, which will hopefully keep my humidity at around 50%.
SUNDAY 3/24:
I watered them today with some boomerang, bud candy, calimagic, kelp me kelp you, microbe brew, and armor si.
TUESDAY 3/26:
I'm still working on my ventilation trying to get temps stable before they start flowering...
WEDNESDAY 3/27:
They got their first taste of full-strength nutes today...I gave them about 1/3 gallon each of all the good stuff, and foliar fed them a few times. The smallest one, but I really want her to catch up with her sisters. They are were definitely affected by the heat from the last few days, but I think they'll be okay.
THURSDAY 3/28:
I foliar fed with added armor si several times today and tweaked the ventilation some more.
FRIDAY:
The temps are still climbing too high by the end of the day, so I'm gonna have to dial back the lights a bit more in the small tent to make the difference I think.😕
I'm still running at 24/0 in the big tent for another week, and running 20/4 in the small tent. I need to get the temps at 85f max in both tents pretty quickly...I've got 4 in the small tent flowering now..
My next tweak is to just alternate the timers between the whites/reds and the blurple/white sides in the small tent while the big tent's all lit up. And only when it's dark in the big tent will I run all the lights in the small tent at the same time. If that doesn't do the trick, I can always switch to 18/6 in one or both of the tents, too, but that'd be a last resort.
***Water with kelp, cal/mag, silica and Boomerang tomorrow-
I'm wanting to replace all my miscellaneous lights with another quantum bar rig before my Fall grow this year.

============================================
SUNDAY 3/31:
I foliar fed them a few times today and tweaked the lighting timers again. They are growing well now. Even the smallest one is starting to catch up a little..
MONDAY:
I foliar fed them a few times today.
TUESDAY:
I FIM'd all 9 of them today. I fed them each about a half-gallon of all the good stuff and foliar fed a few times.
WEDNESDAY:
I foliar fed them a few times and took some photos, then tweaked timers a little more.
They are branching nicely now, and I'm seeing a few pistils on several of them.👍
THURSDAY:
I foliar fed them a few times and rearranged a little. Tweaked timers again..
FRIDAY:
I watered them each with about a half-gallon including boomerang, bud candy, terpinator, calimagic, kelp me kelp you, and armor si. I foliar fed them and took some photos. Today, I switched the big tent timers to 18/6 to see if I can improve the temperatures some more.
SUNDAY 4/7:
II foliar fed them twice and rearranged a little bit. I had to water a few of them today, between normal times because the way I have my airflow directed, they are drying out very quickly despite the high humidity. They are coming along well...seeing some pistils on several of them now.👍
MONDAY:
I fed them about 1/3 gallon each and started them on Tiger Bloom and Open Sesame today. Foliar fed a few times and did some leaf tucking.
TUESDAY:
I foliar fed them and did some more leaf tucking today. I've decided to leave them on 18/6. They seem to still be growing pretty quickly. In addition to cutting the primary lighting to 18 hours, I have them going off 6 different times per day for 30 minutes..but during that time, I have 3 x 36w par38 style 660nm red flood lights on, so they are still doing their thing while the primary lights cool down. This allows me to drop the tent temperature by about 8 or 9 degrees, and it takes several hours for it to creep back up again.
WEDNESDAY:
I foliar fed a couple of times and rearranged the garden. Another few days and my canopy should be pretty well leveled out...still thinking about possibly using a net in this tent.
I changed out one of the 3 x 36w 660nm red floods for a string of 4 x 24w 4' 3000k bar lights which are lying perpendicular across the top of my primary light bars. The two red floods and they just come on for an hour and a half, 6 times per day...running from 30 minutes before and after the 30 minute cool-down of the primary lights....so...for 6 of the 18 hours my lights are on, I'm now actually bathing the girls with closer to 1170 actual watts of light rather than the meager 1010w they get for the other 12 hours..with increased red and orange spectra.😎
THURSDAY:
I watered them with about 1/3 gallon each and included some bud candy, calimagic, kelp me kelp you, and terpinator. I foliar fed them a few times using my new 1L pressurized sprayer. Love it..no more carpel tunnel pain!👍
FRIDAY:
I foliar fed a few times today and rearranged the tent based on height rather than variety.
SATURDAY:
I foliar fed them twice and rearranged again. Typical F1 hybrids...
Out of 9 plants, I have a pretty good varietal cross-section. I'm seeing several that look more like C4's and a few that look more like Candy Canes...and a couple with oddball hybrid differences that are bound to be special in some way or another.👈
SUNDAY 4/14:
Sad day...close inspection of all the plants revealed a bunch of nanners. I removed several branches from 5 of them...I've got a very close eye on them now...😥
MONDAY:
I fed them each about 1/3 gallon, foliar fed, and closely inspected for nanners..found a couple here and there and plucked them.
TUESDAY:
I foliar fed them and closely inspected all the plants for nanners..found one that I must have missed and plucked it..
WEDNESDAY:
I moved all but one of them into the small tent today. Temperatures are not stable at all. Seeing lots of signs of stress.
I watered them with about 1/3 gallon each and foliar fed.
SUNDAY 4/21:
I fed them about 1/3 gallon each today. Switched to Beastie Bloomz and increased terpinator.
I inspected them for nanners and found none today. Will take some photos tomorrow-
MONDAY:
Too busy with life to spend much time in the garden today.
TUESDAY:
I rearranged and took some photos today.
WEDNESDAY:
I took some photos and a video. I watered all but one of the C4 hybrids today. Only the best one still needs water..tomorrow-
THURSDAY:
I watered with about 1/3 gallon and included some terpinator, calimagic, and beastie bloomz.
I did a bunch of training on them to get some separation and better light penetration into the lower flowers
FRIDAY:
I did some more training on them today and I made some improvements to my fresh air a/c intake in the tent that dropped the temp a couple of degrees, and the new dehumidifier is keeping the RH right where I want it..45-50%.👌 This allows the evap cooler to be more effective at cooling as well...above 50% RH and it's basically just a fan..
SUNDAY 4/28:
I plucked off some dead leaves and did some leaf-tucking and a little more training. I have high hopes for these F1's. When I had to remove a bunch of branches that would have produced a quarter pound of bud, it nearly broke my heart, but it looks like I'll still have a good cross-section of the potential genetics resulting from this hybridization.👍
I haven't seen any more nanners in several days now.😷
Daytime temps are still hovering around 87-90f, but I've got them sitting in 70-72f temps for 6 hours of darkness now.😁
I did a little video today and I'll take a few "glamour shots" tomorrow.
MONDAY:
Today I see a bunch of crispy leaves on several of them..guess I phuktup the PH again because they are getting fed everything they need. I douched everybody with 1/3 gallon including some boomerang, calimag, bembe, bud candy, and terpinator. No time for glamour shots...
TUESDAY:
Not much time today..just checked timers and temps, and changed out carbon filters.
WEDNESDAY:
Finally took some photos today after doing a little training. My best plant's leaves got all crispy, but only one one side of the plant..as if it was sprayed with something bad...buds still look yummy. What's really weird is that a Candy Cane, adjacent to that plant also developed the same problem, at the same time...but only on the branches nearest to this plant..(contagion?)
THURSDAY:
The 'contagion' seems to be spreading through the garden...
I'm thinking maybe I completely PHuktup the ph when I added silica last time and didn't correct it?? Not sure...but it's sad..they're all gonna be less than photogenic for the finish...
FRIDAY:
I plucked some dead leaves and misted everybody with perfectly PH adjusted spring water and increased airflow in the tent. Also decreased the dehumidifier to 45% RH.
SUNDAY 5/5:
Rearranged the gardens..have 17 plants in the 4 x 5 now...yowsa!
MONDAY:
Plucked some dead leaves and did a trichrome check on the furthest along. She's ready! I'll start flushing her tomorrow or Wednesday.👍
TUESDAY:
I observed some white spots(maybe powdery mildew) on a few leaves here and there throughout the garden, so I sprayed them today with Trifecta Crop Cure, a concoction of a bunch of natural plant oils. I already decreased the humidity in the room to 45% with my new 70L dehumidifier, so I think they'll be fine. I'll spray them again tomorrow and the next day, then I'll have to hope that did the trick, because a couple of these hybrids are already in the harvest window.
WEDNESDAY:
I flushed one of them and watered the rest today and included a bunch of terpinator, bud candy, bembe, and cha ching. It was possibly their last dose of any nutes...but a couple might get one more dose...
THURSDAY:
Took a couple of photos and tried installing my new Solacure FlowerPower UVB light, but it was dead on arrival.😢..back to the 15.0 reptile UVB lights for now I guess...
SUNDAY 5/12:
I flushed one of them for the second time, and 5 of them for the first time today. I ran about 4 gallons of filtered ph adjusted water through each of them including some Bembe and Sledgehammer. The other 4 plants were fed about 1/2 gallon each with big bloom, tiger bloom, calimagic, terpinator, bembe, and cha ching...two or three of them smell like C4, but the rest smell more like Candy Cane. It's all good.😋
MONDAY:
I rotated the plants under the 2 x 15.0 reptile UVB's today and removed necrotic leaves
TUESDAY:
I checked trichromes today and plucked dead shit..
WEDNESDAY:
I'm gonna flush 4 more of them tomorrow..their trichs are all cloudy with a few ambers appearing now..
I installed my new 4' Solacure FlowerPower UV light today...little late in the game, but maybe it'll make them sweat a little bit extra nectar for me.🙏
THURSDAY:
I harvested the first three of the Candy Cane x C4's today. One will be a pathetic yield (20ish grams), another pretty meager one (about an ounce or so), and one that will be around 70-75g I think...that bigger one is the frostiest one of the bunch too.👍
I flushed the biggest of them for the first time today along with another mid-sized one. I gave nutes to the last couple for the last time today.
SUNDAY 5/19:
I accidentally left my UV timer in the "ON" position all night and half of the next day...fearing sudden death, I have moved everybody that was almost ready into the dark tent, including the most advanced Candy Cane x C4 and will start harvesting them tomorrow..maximum UVB stress for about 20 hours...if it works out that they are even more potent than expected without turning brown overnight, I'll claim it was "intentional," and purport it as an "advanced technique" 😉
MONDAY:
The big one still looks fine after the mega-UVB incident , so she's still sitting in the dark. I flipped on the green light and went into the tent for a sniff test on everybody. She smells more like a C4 than a Candy Cane...a delightful aroma!
The others have just about dried out..I'll probably start flushing a couple of them tomorrow and just water the others.
TUESDAY:
I harvested and wet trimmed CC4 #2 today. She wasn't very big, but her buds are ultra-dense and stinky. I also harvested the big one today(CC4#3) and hung her to dry in the dark tent. I decided to go ahead and flush everybody else today for the first time. I lowered the lights in the big tent several inches and set the light cycle back to 20/4, plus they are still getting hammered by the UVB for 6 hours of the day in 2 x 3-hour intervals.
WEDNESDAY:
I semi-wet-trimmed CC4 #3 and forgot to take photos..will do it when they are dry, prior to weighing and jarring it up.
CC4 #1 was dry today, so I took some photos of the dried buds prior to weighing it and jarring it up. She weighed in at 66 grams after removing the excess lumber. She's very frosty, but her buds are a little bit fluffier than I like.
THURSDAY:
The last several CC4's will be flushed for the second time tomorrow. 2 more of the harvested plants will get weighed and jarred up tomorrow, but the other two will still need another day or two to dry.
FRIDAY:
I decided to wait to flush til tomorrow. I didn't have time today, so I'll weigh and jar up a few plants tomorrow. I just stuck the dry ones into some 2-gallon jars with boost 62's for now. I'm seeing about 20-25% amber trichomes on a few of them. They should be capable of putting me on my ass for a while. I killed the first few with just a couple ambers here and there, and the next two with about 5-10%, so I should have a pretty good sampling from them to know what it has and hasn't to offer. Glad I chose to grow these accidental F1 hybrids...muah hah hah hahhhh...😆
SATURDAY:
I flushed the last 4 x CC4's with 3 gallons of ph-adjusted spring water today(and the remaining 4 other plants of different strains...my back is killing me..) and took some photos. Their foliage got pretty burnt from the mega-UVB overexposure incident, so I'll my work cut out for me with the trim..but damnit..they are getting super frosty and stinky!😋
I ran out of time, so didn't get around to weighing and jarring the dried plants. So, I just continued the cure in their big jars for the day.
SATURDAY:
Weighed and jarred up CC4 #1 - 66g
SUNDAY 5/26:
Nighttime temps are still between 69-70f. I'll harvest the last 3 x CC4's in the next few days. I smoked some of the first one I harvested today...yum...very nice.😁
CC4 #2 - 26g
CC4 #3 - 35g
MONDAY:
Today, I jarred and weighed a couple more CC4's.
CC4 #4 - 42g
CC4 #5 - 50g
I'm giving the last 3 a final 36 hours of light before they get 48 hours of darkness.
THURSDAY:
I harvested all three of the remaining Candy Cane x C4 hybrids today. I wet trimmed CC4 #7 and hung the other two to dry in a dark tent...72f and 55% RH. Delightful aromas coming off of all three of them! I'm betting that #7 comes in at about 65g or a little heavier. Her buds really thickened up over the last several days..very dense.👍
Love it! Very potent, very tasty, and sexy-looking to boot!
If I smoke too much I feel a little drunk..and even have a slight hangover the next day, though I kinda blame my recent sleep deprivation for that...
5/30:
I harvested the last three early today and hung them to dry in a 72f / 50% environment with gentle airflow.
5/31:
I decided to go ahead and semi-wet trim them and start them to drying in baskets.
They smell just as good as the first 5 I harvested.
I'm gonna smoke some of the first one I harvested tomorrow!😀
6/3:
CC4 #6: 42g
She was very very frosty and smells awesome, but her buds aren't as dense as I like.
I smoked some of CC4 #1 the other day and again today. It's some killer frickin weed!😲
6/5:
I weighed and jarred up the last two today.
Final Tally:
CC4 #1 - 66g
CC4 #2 - 26g
CC4 #3 - 35g
CC4 #4 - 42g
CC4 #5 - 50g
CC4 #6 - 42g
CC4 #7 - 73g
CC4 #8 - 45g
Potency: 8/10
Bag appeal: 9/10
Yield: 7/10
Flavor: 10/10
Aroma: 9/10
Overall, it's a solid 9/10.
The yield would have been about 1/3 heavier or more, but I got very overzealous when trimming away every branch that popped nanners. The hermaphroditism was bred into it, so I knew what I was dealing with, but I'm still very glad to have grown it, as it's top-shelf bud for sure. I'll probably run it again in the future by overplanting to the max and culling every plant that pops a nanner, then I won't have to butcher my girls...that really destroys my attitude for a few days...
Of the 8 CC x C4 F1's I grew, two looked, smelled and tasted more like a Candy Cane than a C4, and two more like C4 than Candy Cane...but those other 4 did their own thang...a little more pungent aroma, a little bit sweeter taste, and they look like they were heavily sprinkled with sugar...yumm!😋
Yes, only I have these magic beans...muah hah hah hah!!!😈
😁 I have 17 of them vegging in the 4 x 4 and 5 of them in the 4 x 5 for now...
It will be 12 (or 13 if the other Amnesia XXL survives) in the 4 x 5, and 9 in the 4 x 4.
As if 1 maxed-out tent wasn't hard enough to land successfully...😜
I gotta shut it all down for a couple months this summer, so I'm trying to stockpile enough to last until I can complete my fall grow.
I always say "Happiness is a full tent."...well then, I should be fuckin' ecstatic here pretty soon...
@Silverback_Guerilla, yeah I know not a country where weed is easy to obtain and it's extremely dangerous if you get caught so a month without any smoking is going to be a test. Throw 3 kids and a wife to deal with into the mix and it's going to be very interesting🤔🤔
@Silverback_Guerilla, wow that's going to be a massive harvest when the time comes😱 I've got to shut my op down as well but only for about a month as I'm taking the family abroad for 3 weeks. So I'm just running the last 3 diaries I've got going which will finish about 2 weeks (hopefully) before we leave.
@CRiSPrGrow, I keep the bong chilled and ready!
I've still got a few C4 beans from Fastbuds...I'm considering at some point backcrossing an F1 Candy Cane x C4 with the better of the pure C4's to see what results...I just wish I had a better, more secluded environment for this kind of shit. Even if I leave a nanner intact and bag it together with the female flower, it's no guarantee of containing the pollen.
@CRiSPrGrow, You couldn't be more right....everything that was pollinated tastes great and works well, and the minty goodness of Candy Canes is always a nice treat, so I'm optimistic that I'll have a bonus dozen quart jars full of badass weed that nobody else has ever tried.😎
Looking good ... Just got done harvesting a Northern Lights Auto & a AK-49 Auto myself. I wish you the same success.Good luck with the rest of your grow
