TerpToad Welcome to the Dutch Passion Growing Competition 2025!
I choose Banana Blaze Auto for competing in this contest. The seeds were given to me by Dutch Passion for free. Thanks!
These are my first indoor-grown autoflowers. I am looking forward to fast growth and big headbuds, lets see how the Banana Blaze likes the AutoPots!
You will see that the seeds werent put directly in the center of the pots. I am planning on applying LST during the grow and gave myself some space to work with before hand. Stay tuned :)
Update day 4: a small miracle happened - all seeds popped up on the same day! And by all I truly mean all, not only the three Banana Blaze Auto, but my two additional plants aswell! With all my autos perfectly synchronized, I can now start on a good note into these grows. Soon all plants exept the Banana Blaze sisters will move outdoors.

TerpToad Three days after a very succesfull germination phase all three banana girls enter veg week 1.
Nothing yet to report, but it seems like I have a decent chance on a very even grow with these three plants. I already added some stakes in preparation for the upcoming training starting in week 2. There isnt any kind of training down in the first week.

TerpToad week 2 starts with three healthy seedlings transitioning into real plants. Banana Blaze #2 shows great growth, but #1 and #3 look happy as well.
At the beginning of the week, each pot was fertilized with 30 grams of Green House Feeding BioGrow. At a pot size of 20 liters this dosis is half of what is recommended, which I suggest will work just fine with the short veg cycle of these autoflowers. After spreading the fertilizer it was watered in with one gram of BioEnhancer dissolved into 1 liter of water per plant.
Temperature and humidity are perfect for this part of veg. In the next couple of weeks I will try to slowly lower the humidity.
Update: half way through week 2 plant #2 had her first training done. I only removed one fan leaf pointing upwards and one sideshoot pointing downwards.

TerpToad Start of week 3 veg and the training is already paying off! While #1 and #3 are still adjusting to their new dircetions of growth, #2 is taking of very fast and gives me a bunch of sideshoots that will be trained to (hopefully) big colas.
At the start of this week the stakes were adjusted and new ones added when necessary. I am not allowing any growth upwards yet. So far I only removed leaves pointing upwards, so no real defoliation to this point.
During week 3 I will turn on the valves on the AutoPots periodically, I hope to get the girls to drink on their own at week 4 so I dont have to water manually anymore

TerpToad All three Banana Blaze truly blaze into week 4 with explosive growth. All girls are fun to train and really make me look forward to flower! By now they all are quite clearly in preflower, so I added 45 g of GreenHouse Bio Bloom, which is 3/4 of the recommended dosage for a photoperiod in this pot site.
The fertilizer was given as topdressing and watered in with 2 liters of water + BioEnhancer per plant. Apart from that they only recieve water through the AutoPots!
The training is continued as the week before. I find it quite helpfull to follow my own rules strictly: remove leaves pointing upwards and branches pointing downwards. Then bend everything down with stakes to achieve the maximum amount of light exposure to all growsites.
It feels like heavy micromanaging, but I enjoy it very much and the plants clearly do to, so I try to go up and beyond!

TerpToad Four weeks after the germination all three girls reach week 5 which is the first week of bloom - or so I guess. Since I do my updates on day one of each week it can be tricky to determine if the plants are in their first days of flowering.
Regardless of bloom or preflower, I am super happy with all three Banana Blaze. #2 fills the 20 liter pot to the brim with branches, and #1 + #3 show a great structure for potential big yielders as well.
To make sure that last weeks topdressing reaches the plants, I top watered again at the beginning of the week. Apart from that they only drink tapwater from the AutPots. One week after feeding small symptoms, like a slight beginning of discoloration due to magnesium defficiancy, disappeared. All three plants seem super healthy.
The training on the plants will be continued but dialed back slightly. I will now allow more growth upwards and do less intense bending. I keep training the branches to give space to the future buds between each other, but with the beginning of this week my main goal is no longer to expose as many new growth sites as possible. I keep defoliating shadowing fanleaves, but some of the fresh growth will probably still have to be sorted out in about two weeks when the time for lollipopping comes.

TerpToad Week 6 starts with the first real buds on #3 and quick growth on all three girls. #1 seems to be 7-10 days behind #3 in terms of stage of flowering, while #2 sits somewhere inbetween the two.
Since #1 hasnt reached full flower yet, she was trained a bit further while the other two were allowed to grow upwards.
All three girls filled out their pots nicely and will soon bring a big harvest!
At the beginning of this week each plant was topwatered with 2 liters of water and BioEnhancer.

TerpToad In week 7 plant #3 is already starting to fatten up her buds, while #1 is only midway through her stretch. All three girls are thriving and showing their potential.
#2 and #3 recieved some lollipopping and defoliation. This way I hope to achive big headbuds and little to no larf. At the same time I removed all remaining stakes from the LST (33 stakes between both plants).
#1 is stretching further every day, so I didnt touch her in the last week and will let her keep doing her thing for atleast another week. Once she stacked all her budsites and slows down on vegetative growth, she recieves the same treatment as her sisters.

TerpToad Everything going smoothly :)
#1 arrived at the end of her stretch and was lollipopped as well. I removed 13 remaining stakes from the LST as well.
#2 and #3 go on nicely. I noticed some K deficiany in #3, but since #1 finally fully arrived in bloom, I can now start to support the flowering with PLAGRON Green Sensation feeding it directly thorugh the AutoPots. This way the plants have full time acces to additional nutrients, which should sort out any problems in the flowering stage that might appear.
Last week I added some extra support: some carnivorous plants of the family „drosera“. These two guys should help with any flying insects and are fascinating plants on their own. During the last week they already started their work :)

TerpToad Week 9 since germination and all three girls continue to deliver a great perfomance! There are some minor issues, but since I grow (mostly) organic and the plants are progressed far into flower by now, I cant and wont do major changes. The only thing I added by the start of this week was some Mg Boost, which I will continue for the last weeks.
#3 received her final defoliation and looks like she might be ready to harvest in about two weeks time. Her sisters will be defoliated during the next two weeks depending on their progress.
Of course #3 will yield much less than her sisters, but all girls show a great amount of buds in comparison to their size.
The smell in the tent is sweet in a fruity way, but I cant pin down an exact description of the aroma profile. After the defoliation I spent quite some time cleaning my hands and scissors, the last couple of days showed a very nice amount of trichome production! There will be frosty nugs for sure!
Even the drosera are doing amazing. There is lots of new growth and pristine trichome production as well. One could only wish for trichome heads this big on a cannabis plant!
(And yes, they are really called trichomes as well even tho they dont have any cannabinoids or psychoactive compounds)

TerpToad Reaching the final days of the first banana blaze! All plants are doing fine, and the trichomes on #3 are all cloudy by now. I will give her three more days and then start the harvest. #2, which developes a nice reddish/purple hue, will most likely follow soon after. #1 can stay for another 10 days or so.
The smell in the tent is really pleasant. Its sweet, fruity and warm, almost dessert like.
The plants are off the green sensation since midway of last week. Only #1 received some BioEnhancer at the start of this week.
