DeepWaterGrower Welcome to my new diary! I'll be chronicling my experience growing Runtz photoperiod by Zamnesia. This is actually a grow I just finished, but I'm excited to share the journey with you now. As always I'll grow in a DWC system, this time in a 2x2 grow tent. To manage the environment, I'm using a Vents TT100 for air extraction and an Hailea air pump to keep the 20-liter DWC pot well-oxygenated. That 20-liter capacity should be enough to let the plant cruise for a few days without needing a refill, even when it's deep into the flowering stage. Lighting will be provided by a 150 watt lamp, which I'll run on an 18/6 schedule during veg and switch to 12/12 for flowering. As for nutrients, I'll be using the Plagron hydro line. To keep a really close eye on all the critical parameters like temperature, RH, CO2, PH, and PPFD, I'm relying on my Tent-X system by TrolMaster. It's a fantastic piece of kit that allows me to control and dim the light remotely, also includes a smoke detector. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 GROW JOURNAL 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 🗓️ WEEK 1 (veg) / DAYS 1-7 (from dry seed) 🔙 Kicking things off, I prepared all the materials. The clay pebbles received a 20-minute boil followed by a 24-hour soak in demineralized water adjusted to pH 5.8. I gave the air stones a 24-hour bath in a water and vinegar solution, rinsing them thoroughly afterward. The root riot cube also soaked for a few hours in water at pH 5.8. 🌱 With preparations complete, I placed the seed into the root-riot cube on day 1, nestled it in the net-pot, and surrounded it with clay pebbles. The light was set to an 18/6 cycle, positioned 50 cm away, and running at 50 watts. I hand-watered the seedling with approximately 5 ml of demineralized water directly onto the clay twice daily, while the DWC reservoir below held 20 liters of a light nutrient solution: EC 0.6 - pH 5.8. On day 4, the seedling emerged and was exposed to the grow light for the first time. Concluding a successful first week, by day 7, it had already pushed several roots out of the net pot and down into the nutrient solution.

DeepWaterGrower 🗓️ WEEK 2 (veg) / DAYS 8-14 (from dry seed) 🔙 The first week proceeded very well, and the seedling is growing robustly and quickly, even though the humidity and temperature in the grow box are on the low side. 🌱 This second week passed quite smoothly with minimal intervention required. The light was set to 75 watts, maintaining the same distance. I only needed to moisten the substrate once daily with about 20 ml of demineralized water. I also monitored the DWC solution's pH, correcting it whenever the probe indicated it was drifting outside the ideal range for this stage (5.6-5.9). The EC remained stable at 0.6 throughout the week. Towards the end of the week, I removed the first set of true leaves, as they were growing slightly too close to the substrate.

DeepWaterGrower 🗓️ WEEK 3 (veg) / DAYS 15-21 (from dry seed) 💧 Her water uptake increased noticeably (about 1 LT/day), and the new leaves exhibit a perfect, healthy color. Due to this increased demand, I raised the EC to 1 to ensure she receives adequate nutrients. 🌱 The difference in growth between the start and end of this week is significant. The plant continues to stay quite short and compact, which I don't mind at all, especially considering the space limitations experienced during my last run. Naturally, this time, both the environmental conditions and the genetics are entirely different. Similar to last week, I concluded the week by removing a few of the lower leaves growing too close to the substrate. This week, I set the light power to 100 watts, keeping the same distance.

DeepWaterGrower 🗓️ WEEK 4 (veg) / DAYS 22-28 (from dry seed) ⚙️ In this final week of the vegetative stage, I increased the lamp’s intensity to 100% while positioning it 60 cm away from the plant. My thinking here is that starting next week, we're flipping to a 12/12 light cycle, and I'll let the plant grow closer to the light, down to about 35 cm, without needing to dim it further. I also added a coal filter, since it starts to feel some smells. 💧 I raised the EC to 1.2, and the plant appears to be thriving, consuming roughly 1.5 liters per day. The pH has consistently fluctuated between 5.8 and 6.0. On day 28, I drained the DWC reservoir and started a 24-hour flush using tap water EC 0.6 - pH 5.8. This prepares the plant for the new nutrient solution that will be introduced during the upcoming transition phase. 🌱 She's growing really bushy and is still compact. To conclude the week, I performed another light defoliation, removing some lower, older leaves. The new growth looks excellent – all leaves display a beautiful, healthy green color, showing no signs of deficiencies.

DeepWaterGrower 🗓️ WEEK 1 (flo) / DAYS 29-35 (from dry seed) 🔙 The first four weeks of vegetation went remarkably smoothly. I gradually increased the EC from 0.6 to 1.2, and the plant responded with healthy, compact growth. By the end of week 4, the plant was bushy, vibrant green, and ready for the flip after a 24-hour flush. 💧 At the beginning of this week I introduced a new nutrient solution with EC 1.6 - PH 6 and also started adding a flowering stimulator to the mix, Power Buds by Plagron. She's definitely thirsty, drinking about 2 LT/day, and importantly, isn't showing any signs of stress from the change. 🌱 With the switch to the 12/12 light cycle, the plant has started the stretching, increasing in height from 21 cm to 29 cm. It's also become incredibly bushy! Given her still relatively contained height, I've decided I won't be using a SCROG net.

DeepWaterGrower 🗓️ WEEK 2 (flo) / DAYS 36-42 (from dry seed) 💧 To tackle this week, I've increased the EC to 1.8, PH is nicely oscillating between 5.9 and 6.1. Her thirst is definitely increasing, as she's now drinking about 2.5 LT/day. 🌱 As early as day 10 of flowering she was already clearly showing preflowers – much earlier than any other photoperiod strains I've grown before, I'm really impressed! The plant seems to have undergone a complete metamorphosis and has become absolutely beautiful; you can really see it in the video I took on day 14 flo. Around mid-week, I did another round of defoliation – nothing too extreme, but it was necessary to improve air circulation and expose more of those preflower sites to the light. In terms of stretching, she shot up from 29 cm to 42 cm this week!
