Whelp, I’m still amazed.... THE DECOY MADE IT TO CHOP! No thanks to my neighbour that decided (after 7 years) it would be a good time to cut down their cedar hedge, thereby exposing this girl to half the neighbourhood (if they chose to look closely enough anyway)😡.
HSO genetics are now a prized possession of ours and we couldn’t have picked a better strain to start with. She was both beautiful and bountiful for the conditions she was in.
Taste & Smell: 🍭🍭🍭
Effects: 🍭🍭🍭🍭
It seems that all my recent sativas have this innate ability to a produce an extremely citrusy scent that I can’t quite put my finger on. This one was no different and very strong to boot. Looking forward to what the profile comes out as post-cure but for now - we’ll go with earth and lemon - just like the description. 3/5 lollipops cuz she ain’t nearly as smelly as some others.
As far as effects are concerned - this is what I’ll refer to as a debilitating sativa👍. Cerebral as all hell, leaves you dazed and confused for hours. Exactly as described. I hate giving things a perfect mark so we’ll say 4/5 lollipops as the come down is a little couch locky.
Nutes 🍭
We’ll throw up 1 lollipop for nutes here as she did get the occasional shot of ‘em when needed, along with an additional compost layer in early flower. It seemed to help rectify some weird fan leaf behaviour in late veg. Where she kinda folded everything up on itself when the sun was lower in the sky. Regardless, I can’t imagine that the nutes contributed much to her end yield and yes - assuming I was wrong about her hating nute additives altogether then she likely would’ve done better in terms of yield if she was on a regimented program. Minimal to no real maintenance so we’re happy to take whatever she was willing to give👍.
Method 🎚️
Medium: 🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥
1 volume emoji because there really was no method to this grow. Plant seed, let grow, cut down, enjoy regularly😉.
Any time you have the luxury of rooting this plant in the earth (where it belongs) is a huge bonus. She didn’t need much of anything and took all she required (for the most part anyway) from the garden👍. OG’s in the emerald triangle pride themselves on the makeup of their soil and the quality of the plants they grow. I like to think that while this girl didn’t have that benefit - she got as close as she could to it here in the north. She was struggling heavy at the start when she was indoors. It must’ve been my error some how but she hated the coco medium, hated the nutes and hated the grow light. As soon as she was moved outside, she was a completely different plant - like she had been begging for the sun the whole time. 5/5 coconuts because you simply can’t beat growing in the ground as the cannabis gods intended😎.
Yield🌴🌴🌴
Ahhh the great equalizer of grower egos. Let’s put all of the above in perspective; this girl ended up where she was out of necessity. She was exposed to the elements and potential rippers and named “the decoy” because her express purpose was to draw attention away from the other 2 plants that we didn’t want anyone messing with. Thankfully, no one with a thought to theft ever really noticed her and it wasn’t until late flower that she demonstrated herself to be an award winning plant👍🤘👍. Woulda thought she’d yielded more with how thin her side branches were in comparison to the buds. They were massive and she was ready to fall over by the time the chop window opened. But the buds were also somewhat less dense which made their final sizes a little deceiving. Another limiting factor was that some of her branches were pollinated - probably from a randy bumblebee that had gotten into it somewhere else. Like the other 2 outdoors this year, we pulled 6 or 7 seeds off this girl that may eventually get used in future grows. I’m certainly not opposed to the occasional seed as long as she’s not a full-on hermie that can’t be used. Who knows, maybe a breeding project Is in the cards next year🤔. End of the day, results were about as expected given her conditions and growing environment - 6.51oz of sun grown, sativa goodness👌. 3/5 palm trees for this - without some training and a more accommodating environment - we definitely left some of her potential on the table here. There’s still more than enough to go around though😉.
Props
Again, a shout out thank you to GD for the platform. Big thank you to HSO for breeding some wicked, awesome beans. And another shout out to good karma for seeing us through this one. Of course some special mention to those who swung in to creep on it these past weeks.
Special mention to my buddy @sKitzO for the discussion and sound advice. If anyone’s interested in seeing this plant’s full potential with training and a nute plan then check his dockside, pot-grown 707’s - just gorgeous, abundant, beefcake plants💪. Much appreciated homie👊.
From our bong to yours, may the weather be ever in your favour😉😎🤘👍👊.
@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, hey hey - u folks wanted a quick tag once I had this one on the grow soooo.... here ya go! We’re hoping to impress and make u guys proud with this one 👍🤞👊
That burn is odd. Seems to be some bleaching of the singles too. Little on tips of her trues.
Have you tested your run off? Could be magnified water burns if your spraying her often under the lights. 🤷♂️
Regardless, looks like she’s pulling/pulled through 👍
@CRiSPrGrow, just whispers homie😉! Lol - and yeah the magnifying glass/misting theory is definitely likely - gotta be it cuz she really hadn’t much in the way nutes by then anyway. Either way thanks for ring’n in as always bro👊
@TheBudWhisperer, doesnt look like nutrient burn because no other leaf is really affected and you're not seeing any other symptoms, remember by the time the burn happens the problem might have been there a while already. Over misting makes sense, maybe the leaf was curling a bit from the humidity or temperature difference and the dew drops collected on the tip making a bigger drop that didnt evaporate long quick enough making that magnifying glass effect etching a mark on the tip because of the light. but you cant really say for sure, have you tried talking to it and asking her maybe? 🚀
@MovingOn, lol - sorry bout that! Yeah night temps are like 5c so freak’n cold! Realistically we can’t push this much farther and she’s come’n down this weekend. She’s turned over really well last few days so should be perfect spot for chop👍👊
@FrostRailz, thanks for the kind words.🥥! Just lett’n her do ‘er thing and this is the result👌. Just gotta make it through the next few days and alls good🤘🤘😎
@spacetaste, yes and thankfully NO! Lol. The webbing is due to a resident spider (see photos in week 22 - def. not a mite 😉) that’s been lookn after this girl the last month or so. She’s been workn hard to keep the rest of the bugs at bay and doing a great job👍. Unfortunately and if the plant makes it the next week - she’s getting evicted😎😉👍. Thanks for swing’n in👊
@BarrieGrower, nail biting days in this area my friend. While we’ve gotten lucky so far and no one appears to be snooping around, I won’t be comfortable until this girl is chopped down.👊
@mr_h_kovert, cheers homie👊. I’m givibn this one another week and then take’n er down. Just praying to god we make it there before someone notices er and decides they want some🤞🤞🤞. Some sleepless nights ahead my friend😉
Looking great! I wish I had the space to do an outdoor grow. Love the idea of a 13 week veg. Also, if I was going to do an outdoor grow, I'd use Humboldt genes too! Good luck with the harvest and the finish!
@NorCalCloset, thanks very much dude. She’s on the dry now and should have update posted soon. Can’t say enough about HSO this plant went off like mad.👌
@TheBudWhisperer, My Honey Cream is getting dark purple but nothing like yours. Still like 10 more days or so till harvest. I hope she get even more purple.
I just love seeing all those strange colours. 😀
@Satori_Hanso, cheers dude and yeah! She faded super nice in the home stretch. She’s even got some rusty brown tinge to the fans too. Should have more photos up after the chop this weekend. Thanks for swing’n in with the kind words!😎👊👊
TBW - she looks great! My 707s did that EXACT same thing, and it’s an easy fix. As both of us have found, she does turn down in the evenings. I thought at first under watering so gave her a drink. Then I thought maybe overwatering, but the defined claw wasn’t there. I just happened to give her food the next day, and man oh man, she was as stiff as an 80 year old trying Viagra for the first time.
She’s hungry, give her some food! I bet she’ll reward you. Seeing as you’re already attached, make the leap. She still droops at night, but not near as much.
PS - my girls have for sure flipped. Maybe 3-5 days in. I suspect yours are there or are close depending on your location.
@sKitzO, very interesting. I had originally started her in coco for an indoor grow and just assumed she wasn’t happy with the nute regimen which is why I moved her outside to do her own thing. May have just been something else (maybe even the medium) that was making her unhappy. Regardless I was thinking the exact same myself now that I’ve already got attachment issues. She def. seems to be moving into flower and nows about the right time to throw some bloom nutes at er - so will do. Thanks for input! Very much appreciated and hopefully, we see the end of this with a harvest. Cheers!👊
Good luck! After my current grow I'll be doing an HSO plant as well. Their version of blue dream, and it will be half of my first sativa grow. Doing a couple low growers right now though since I'm still a noob.
@TheBudWhisperer, will do! We might be running the blue dream at the same time then.
Right now I'm doing The Church by the Green House Seed Co, and Holy Grail Kush by DNA Genetics. The HGK looks to be pretty promising.
@MovingOn, dude that’s awesome - as part of my last seed order I got this 707 as well as their blue dream too! I’m running the blue dream right after this one so still a few months out. Please let me k ow once you get the diary up on it. I’ll def. tag along on that one for sure to get some intel.👍👊. What u running right now anyway?
Now that's one beautifully looking, outdoor grown 707 Headband 🤗
By the look of things your in the end game now and looking set for a very nice harvest 👏👏
Now we know where this diary is we will drop back in prior to harvest 🤗
With love from Humboldt County ✌️
Kind regards
Team-HSO..
@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, thanks very much for for that. She’s coming down in short order and lookn to be an all-time👌. You guys are running some terrific beans out there! Keep up the good work👊
Looking good brother 👍. We have similar pheno’s but I’d peg yours a week or more behind. Likely local 😜
She’s looking frosty! Keep it up. Only 5-6 more to go 🤦♂️
@sKitzO, no doubt bud. I’d say about half way there through flower and update shoulda gone up yesterday. She’s also colouring out a bit now and you’ll see that in the new photos. If she makes it I’ll be in heaven. I can’t wait to try this strain👍. Hope alls well dude👊
