This entry marks the beginning of this summer’s 2 focus grows. First, a little on the environment; It took a bit to get it up and running but the new cabinet is finally in action. This will be the first photo run in the new digs. Complete with 315w x5 cree cob led, I’ve got a ton of headroom now and can fit about 4 plants across the width making access much easier in all respects. I’ve tied in with the existing extraction fan and now have two fully operable spaces all drawing less electricity than most household appliances.👍👍👍 As far as method is concerned, she’s gonna be mainlined to 8-10 colas and we’re gonna try to make the veg. Time dependent on as much headroom as we have available. That said, I’m not waiting forever so 8 weeks veg. will be the max prior to flower. Coco coir medium with a range of botanicare nutes throughout. The only significant change to our normal routine will be the pot size - planning on move’n up to 7gals. In the hopes of achieving larger plant.👍 May 1 update - round 2 of our little adventure and this bean actually took. Little sprout’s lookn spritely so we’ll see what happens👍 Background For those who don’t already know, Humboldt Seed Organization hails from the Emerald Triangle of Northern California, a region that consists of Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties. A growing region for cannabis that can be likened to the Bordeaux wine region of France, it’s origins are as infamous as they are notorious. The region’s cannabis history sprung from hippy communes dating back to the 60’s . But like any other lucrative, illicit endeavour, it wasn’t all flowers and sunshine. Illegal marijuana cultivation brought out the best, and the worst in the many people who flocked to the region over the decades. Those so inclined saw an escape from “typical society” in the mountains while in some cases others - not so inclined, would disappear from society altogether. At one point, this region was purported to be responsible for 90% of the cannabis supply across the country (and probably a good part of the market up here in Canada too I’d imagine). Bottom line: these folks have been do’n it LOUD for more than 50 years and deserve our respect ✊ for their efforts. 707 Headband is a cross of True Ocean Grown and a Mendocino Elite clone. Sativa dominant, the high is supposed to be very cerebral - like wearing a headband of it😉😎. We can only hope that our attempt at growing this bit of awesomeness lives up to the reputation that it’s Breeders have earned through experience. Thanks as always for the discussion and for take’n a look👊 - this ones gonna be good👌😎.

Week 2 update - been a strange start to the season. This one was showing similar signs of stress over its first week like a number of our seedlings. Different environments, different mediums, it doesn’t seem to matter. Still getting the weird burning on the first pair of leaves???? Don’t think it could be nute burn.l - calmag only start save last feed. Regardless, she’s off and the first true set of leaves are lookn good. Not much to say right now - she’s alright. May 11 update - she’s humm’n along now. Yeah the slow start and previous issue had to be nute burn which means that this girl doesn’t take hers at full strength. We’ll keep it in mind and probably dial back significantly for the upcoming week. Week 3 update - she’s runn’n out great the last couple of days and stretch’n out nicely despite the rough start and now that she’s got some fan leaves under ‘er. She’s just popp’n out the third node now so likely lookn to re-pot and potentially top this week - depends how she’ll take to the transplant. Course correcting on the nute sched. Cutting the amounts in half as well. Alls generally good👍😎. Thanks for stopp’n in👊 May 16 update - she’s dry’n out after about 2 days now so root system is def. now healthy and strong - repot time! That does present a bit of a problem right now as my indoor upgrade accounted for a space large enough for x4 5gal. Pots, not x2 7gals and x2 3 gals...🤔🤔🤔🤔 - it would appear my greed has gotten the best of me once again😂 May 20 update - ok, this isn’t funny anymore. This poor thing looks like it’s just dying to spread out. I’ve been lazy lately and haven’t had a chance to throw er into a bigger pot. Bet she explodes as soon as we do too. Week 4 update - extreme laziness set in due to extreme busy-ness and we weren’t able to re-pot until the start of this week. As per the photos, some of the leaf curling and general droopiness appears to be associated with significant root binding. No other deficiencies or issues are obvious and we’ve since up potted. Wanted to get er in her forever home but we’ve still got half the cabinet taken up with 2 flowering autos. Should be chopping the cheese in about a week but it still might set back veg. Time. The additional challenge is that the strawberry Cough that was going to be the sister plant on this cycle is growing VERY vigorously and we might have a light scheduling problem if growth on the 707 doesn’t pick up soon. She’s definitely doing better after the transplant but still recovering and growth is generally slower than desired. If we can get er to push out that 4th and 5th node this week we might🤞 be able to top. Thanks to all for stopping in as always👊. Peace✌️ May 26 - god damnit! All conditions optimal but this is not a happy plant😔. Hard to say what the hell is going on here. Hope she turns around 🤞 Background For those who don’t already know, Humboldt Seed Organization hails from the Emerald Triangle of Northern California, a region that consists of Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties. Week 5 update - this plants been struggling since day 1 with her current conditions and had to make the call to do a full swap of this plant to the outside with a more mature one that can keep up with the strawberry Cough. After putting her outside for a day she was immediately praying to the sun and looking happy for the first time in her short life. So she loves the sun. Then I gave her one more feed in prep for in ground transplant and she started dropping again. So she hates nutes seemingly. What all this tells me is that this plant was made to be outside. despite the fact she’ll be in a less protected area, it’s worth the risk at this point in the hopes she can still realize her full potential. Welcome to the great outdoors folks! Thanks for swing’n in👍😎😉 May 31 update - so we got er in the ground. The difference is night and day. She’s perky, soaking in all the rays she can and most importantly, she’s insanely happy now😎👍. Can’t believe the difference this has made - just one of those plants I guess🤷‍♂️. Week 7 update - we’ve re-named ‘er “the decoy” now. Another fruitless exercise to avoid attachment. Cuz truthfully, she’s gorgeous. Branching like mad, she doubled in height this week alone. She’s in our best, and our most vulnerable spot on our property so we try to disassociate as much as we can. Definitely not how we planned it out when we started.... Week 10 update - she shot up another 9” the past week which is pretty on par with expectation. The fan leaves are like giant solar panels bending every which way with the angle of the sun. Stretchy classic sativa. GODDAMNIT! We said we wouldn’t talk about this plant because it’ll hurt too much if she gets ripped..... probably too late to disassociate from ‘er. We’re in love.... Week 14 update - she’s on the stretch it seems. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some budlets this week. She’s really strict and spindly. No experience with her before so this is either status quo or a result of her early stunting. Who knows. Everything outside seems to have changed over in lockstep so lookn good. Still wait’n on the first budlets. She’s got this habit of folding into herself in the evenings (see last photo). She spreads out just fine in the sun - just kinda weird to see a plant curl up like this. She’s about the size I’d expect with no nutrient regimen or watering (maybe even a little larger actually). No matter what way you cut it she’s make’n me care... damnit. Background For those who don’t already know, Humboldt Seed Organization hails from the Emerald Triangle of Northern California, a region that consists of Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties. Week 17 update - well, she’s doing great as expected and the nute feeds are paying off. She’s got true budlets coming in now and fix’n To be a beaut. And that’s a problem... it’s like fate is working against us all the time with our outdoors. We were away for a few days and came back to discover that our neighbour had one of their trees removed. This tree was providing most of the cover for this plant being visible to passers by and if anyone decides to take a closer look they will quickly discover what we’re cultivating at the side of our house. Unbelievable... if there was a 60% chance that this plant gets jacked prior to harvest, those chance have now increased markedly to include any number of people that stroll past our house each day. We’re back to treating this girl like she doesn’t even exist. Well still throw er some nutes every once in awhile but now we’re just prepping ourself for the eventual ripping.... super downer. Week 18 update - another week in the books and she’s still doing great, push’n Out buds as best she can. She’s starting to frost up a little too which suggests she’ll be awesome if she makes it. Week 19 update - the amount of earl frost is remarkable on this one for sure👍. She’s a truly good look’n plant - strong and stalky. Still a ways to go though🤞. Week 20 update - she’s really starting to show off now. Figure we’re going through to mid-Oct. for the finish so let’s hope the weather (and the thieves) leave us alone. No issues, some slight nitro deficiency which is typical of most of our outdoor grows. Manageable and she’s still getting the occasional shot of nutes when opportunity arises. Week 22 update - alls good and she’s really stacked on weight the last week. So much so that her gangly branches can’t support the bud weight anymore👍👍👍. Gotta tie back 3 of em as we’ve still got a bit left before the finish. Week 7 of flower and still think we’re trending 9-10 weeks to chop. Not gonna say it - 🤞🤞🤞. Week 23 update - we’re now entering the 8th week of flowering and she’s started on the fade a little earlier than I expected. Showing some abundant colours on about half the plant now👍. In ideal conditions and with less exposure I’d be inclined to push this all the way to week 10. Realistically - I’ve got no choice but to chop the moment she’s ready as every day poses just another risk of getting ripped. Trichs depending I expect she’ll need another week of ripening and then we’ll simply pick a day to chop er down. This is the scary part... the patient waiting game🤞🤞🤞. Week 24 update - she turned over super fast this last week and the windows pretty much open. Colours on er are intense and insane! A rusty yellowish purple on the fans and then An even deeper purple on the sugars. Just a beautiful plant. Trichs aren’t quite where I want em yet but ohhhhhhh so close. Whelp, I’m still amazed.... THE DECOY MADE IT TO CHOP! No thanks to my neighbour that decided (after 7 years) it would be a good time to cut down their cedar hedge, thereby exposing this girl to half the neighbourhood (if they chose to look closely enough anyway)😡. HSO genetics are now a prized possession of ours and we couldn’t have picked a better strain to start with. She was both beautiful and bountiful for the conditions she was in. Taste & Smell: 🍭🍭🍭 Effects: 🍭🍭🍭🍭 It seems that all my recent sativas have this innate ability to a produce an extremely citrusy scent that I can’t quite put my finger on. This one was no different and very strong to boot. Looking forward to what the profile comes out as post-cure but for now - we’ll go with earth and lemon - just like the description. 3/5 lollipops cuz she ain’t nearly as smelly as some others. As far as effects are concerned - this is what I’ll refer to as a debilitating sativa👍. Cerebral as all hell, leaves you dazed and confused for hours. Exactly as described. I hate giving things a perfect mark so we’ll say 4/5 lollipops as the come down is a little couch locky.

Method 🎚️ Medium: 🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥 1 volume emoji because there really was no method to this grow. Plant seed, let grow, cut down, enjoy regularly😉. Any time you have the luxury of rooting this plant in the earth (where it belongs) is a huge bonus. She didn’t need much of anything and took all she required (for the most part anyway) from the garden👍. OG’s in the emerald triangle pride themselves on the makeup of their soil and the quality of the plants they grow. I like to think that while this girl didn’t have that benefit - she got as close as she could to it here in the north. She was struggling heavy at the start when she was indoors. It must’ve been my error some how but she hated the coco medium, hated the nutes and hated the grow light. As soon as she was moved outside, she was a completely different plant - like she had been begging for the sun the whole time. 5/5 coconuts because you simply can’t beat growing in the ground as the cannabis gods intended😎. Yield🌴🌴🌴 Ahhh the great equalizer of grower egos. Let’s put all of the above in perspective; this girl ended up where she was out of necessity. She was exposed to the elements and potential rippers and named “the decoy” because her express purpose was to draw attention away from the other 2 plants that we didn’t want anyone messing with. Thankfully, no one with a thought to theft ever really noticed her and it wasn’t until late flower that she demonstrated herself to be an award winning plant👍🤘👍. Woulda thought she’d yielded more with how thin her side branches were in comparison to the buds. They were massive and she was ready to fall over by the time the chop window opened. But the buds were also somewhat less dense which made their final sizes a little deceiving. Another limiting factor was that some of her branches were pollinated - probably from a randy bumblebee that had gotten into it somewhere else. Like the other 2 outdoors this year, we pulled 6 or 7 seeds off this girl that may eventually get used in future grows. I’m certainly not opposed to the occasional seed as long as she’s not a full-on hermie that can’t be used. Who knows, maybe a breeding project Is in the cards next year🤔. End of the day, results were about as expected given her conditions and growing environment - 6.51oz of sun grown, sativa goodness👌. 3/5 palm trees for this - without some training and a more accommodating environment - we definitely left some of her potential on the table here. There’s still more than enough to go around though😉. Props Again, a shout out thank you to GD for the platform. Big thank you to HSO for breeding some wicked, awesome beans. And another shout out to good karma for seeing us through this one. Of course some special mention to those who swung in to creep on it these past weeks. Special mention to my buddy @sKitzO for the discussion and sound advice. If anyone’s interested in seeing this plant’s full potential with training and a nute plan then check his dockside, pot-grown 707’s - just gorgeous, abundant, beefcake plants💪. Much appreciated homie👊. From our bong to yours, may the weather be ever in your favour😉😎🤘👍👊.

That burn is odd. Seems to be some bleaching of the singles too. Little on tips of her trues. Have you tested your run off? Could be magnified water burns if your spraying her often under the lights. 🤷‍♂️ Regardless, looks like she’s pulling/pulled through 👍

@TheBudWhisperer, doesnt look like nutrient burn because no other leaf is really affected and you're not seeing any other symptoms, remember by the time the burn happens the problem might have been there a while already. Over misting makes sense, maybe the leaf was curling a bit from the humidity or temperature difference and the dew drops collected on the tip making a bigger drop that didnt evaporate long quick enough making that magnifying glass effect etching a mark on the tip because of the light. but you cant really say for sure, have you tried talking to it and asking her maybe? 🚀

@spacetaste, yes and thankfully NO! Lol. The webbing is due to a resident spider (see photos in week 22 - def. not a mite 😉) that’s been lookn after this girl the last month or so. She’s been workn hard to keep the rest of the bugs at bay and doing a great job👍. Unfortunately and if the plant makes it the next week - she’s getting evicted😎😉👍. Thanks for swing’n in👊

@BarrieGrower, nail biting days in this area my friend. While we’ve gotten lucky so far and no one appears to be snooping around, I won’t be comfortable until this girl is chopped down.👊

Looking great! I wish I had the space to do an outdoor grow. Love the idea of a 13 week veg. Also, if I was going to do an outdoor grow, I'd use Humboldt genes too! Good luck with the harvest and the finish!

@NorCalCloset, thanks very much dude. She’s on the dry now and should have update posted soon. Can’t say enough about HSO this plant went off like mad.👌

@TheBudWhisperer, My Honey Cream is getting dark purple but nothing like yours. Still like 10 more days or so till harvest. I hope she get even more purple. I just love seeing all those strange colours. 😀

@Satori_Hanso, cheers dude and yeah! She faded super nice in the home stretch. She’s even got some rusty brown tinge to the fans too. Should have more photos up after the chop this weekend. Thanks for swing’n in with the kind words!😎👊👊

TBW - she looks great! My 707s did that EXACT same thing, and it’s an easy fix. As both of us have found, she does turn down in the evenings. I thought at first under watering so gave her a drink. Then I thought maybe overwatering, but the defined claw wasn’t there. I just happened to give her food the next day, and man oh man, she was as stiff as an 80 year old trying Viagra for the first time. She’s hungry, give her some food! I bet she’ll reward you. Seeing as you’re already attached, make the leap. She still droops at night, but not near as much. PS - my girls have for sure flipped. Maybe 3-5 days in. I suspect yours are there or are close depending on your location.

@sKitzO, kinda surprised - she does seem to be loving the nute kick. Thanks for the tip👊😎👊
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@sKitzO, very interesting. I had originally started her in coco for an indoor grow and just assumed she wasn’t happy with the nute regimen which is why I moved her outside to do her own thing. May have just been something else (maybe even the medium) that was making her unhappy. Regardless I was thinking the exact same myself now that I’ve already got attachment issues. She def. seems to be moving into flower and nows about the right time to throw some bloom nutes at er - so will do. Thanks for input! Very much appreciated and hopefully, we see the end of this with a harvest. Cheers!👊

Good luck! After my current grow I'll be doing an HSO plant as well. Their version of blue dream, and it will be half of my first sativa grow. Doing a couple low growers right now though since I'm still a noob.
MovingOn
MovingOncommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, will do! We might be running the blue dream at the same time then. Right now I'm doing The Church by the Green House Seed Co, and Holy Grail Kush by DNA Genetics. The HGK looks to be pretty promising.
