420 - naturally, she sprouted on the best day of the year after a 48 hour germ and 12 hours under the coco. So far, so good and should be hitting her with her first feed in a day or two. She’s been under a cup/dome for 5 days and with no real need to be watered. Regular foliar spray with a small, diluted amount of Liquid Karma at least twice a day. I’ve been looking forward to this cycle for some time now and can’t wait to see how this girl performs👌😎. April 26 - 6 days in and it’s feed time now that the first leaves are showing. Feed Mix - 1/4L - calmag 5ml/g - karma 5ml/g - grow 8ml/g Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. She’s about 80% sativa and a mix of strawberry cough x skunk x Jack Herer... so we’re naturally all over this one. The last time we grew Jack Herer we were Ignorant of how awesome a strain it was and ended up getting blown away on the first hit. She’s gonna be mainlined on what will likely be an 8 week veg. Period next to her neighbour 707 Headband. This run will be our summer indoors just so that we have a couple of plants that are guaranteed to see harvest. With the weather these days, you’re never gonna be guaranteed of that. Comments, questions and discussion are welcomed as always and thanks very much for stopp’n in and take’n a look👍😎👊.

Week 2 update - not much sayn with er right now except that she’s coming along. Lookn a little droopy but sprouting those first fan leaves as expected under a humidity dome. She’s only needed one watering since planting and that was the start of full nute feeding. Getting a regular misting of diluted karma whenever I’m playing in the cabinet. We’ll be monitoring closely for the next 2 weeks to see how she takes to the schedule. I’ve heard that this one doesn’t typically need full strength nute dosages. Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 3 update - start of week 3 and she’s come out of the seedling stage like an alien bursting through sigourney weaver’s chest! The last couple of days have seen the first fans spread nicely and as usual the coco looks to be assisting with advanced/faster growth. Looking at re-pot this week depending on how fast she advances. All’s good y’all!😎 May 8 update - re-potted ‘er into her forever home today. Woulda gone with a slightly smaller pot to advance growth a little faster but I’m lazy. She’s just start’n to push out her 4th node so we should be looking to top in a few days once she looks recovered from the transplant. May 9 quick update - we were a little worried about how she took to the transplant and she was droop’n heavy even before we got her to her new home. Thankfully she’s rebounded back and is starting to re-acclimate as of this morning. All’s good👍 Feeds May 4 - 0.50L grow nutes May 8 - 0.25L grow nutes (prep. For repot) May 10 - 0.50l grow nutes Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 4 update - start of the week and I hope ur ready for what comes next because what I’ve done to this poor girl is truly vicious. We know she responds to stressors but we also know she recovers relatively quickly - nows the time to start forming out our manifold so we topped ‘er and stripped her down like an overly violating prison search. She was 4.5” tall and now she’s back to about 2”. I can see why Spliff says shes good on a scrog. The nodal spacing is tight and really uniform development in the growth tips under the main. I probably would’ve immediately gone with a scrog after seeing this but I just don’t have the setup for it right now - ie. runoff tray and fitted screen. Construction has officially commenced. Alas, her growth and response to transplant has been great so far, so we’re not overly worried about the stress. She should pull through just fine🤞👍. Thanks for stopp’n in and take’n a peek👊 May 13 update - 24 hours post strip and she’s back to pray’n like mad. Appears to have taken to it like a champ. Think she’s gonna be a quality plant👍😎 May 15 update - growth of the remaining 2 tips has accelerated noticeably. It’s really impressive how well this plant has adapted to the stress of being stripped down. Just good genetics IMO👍. Feeds May 12 - 1L grow nutes May 14 - 1L grow nutes May 16 - 1L grow nutes Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 5 update - well if you’ve been following along then you’ll note that the changes between last week and this week are remarkable. Growth never really slowed post-topping and has since accelerated markedly. Just started bending over the 2 mains and they’re both already workn on their 2nd nodes. The feed volume will increase to roughly 2L this week, maybe even a little more, we’ll see what she tells us. Its always plant dependent but in my experience I’ve always believed and felt that they grew faster and stronger when left to dry out completely. Either way alls good on ‘er and if this growth keeps up we’ll be topping the mains again in a few days👍. Thanks to all for stopp’n in😎😉 May 22 update - she’s blow’n up crazy good! Snipped a couple middle fans today so all the tips can soak in the light. Probably gonna top the mains and strip again tomorrow. After that it’s all gravy, waiting and a little lst to the flower show👍😎. May 23 update - stripped ‘er down today and did the final toppings to create our 10 cola manifold. This is a slightly different take on what’s become know as the “nebula manifold” which allows for 2 extra growth tips on the 2nd node of each main branch. I’ve had great success with this previously and the extra 2 colas fill in the middle of the manifold during flower while the rest of the topped and lst’d branches surround the perimeter. Manifolding/mainlining/fluxing - it’s all kind the same thing and the only true difference is how many colas you’re lookn to grow out. This plant is an absolute beast so I expect we’re gonna have a real quality yield on this one based on its size and growth rate alone👍😎. Nows the waiting for the 707 to catch up a little and then flower time! May 24 update - absolutely no slow down in growth rate at all after the strip. This plant simply cannot be stopped 👍😎 Feeds May 20 - 2.5L grow nutes May 22 - 2.5L grow nutes Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 6 update - damn, 6 weeks in and I swear I could flip right now and it would still be a monster! That said, her neighbour plant is so far behind that I’ve got allow for at least another 3 weeks of veg. So that the 707 can catch up. This thing is ridiculous - strong, resilient and manageable. I can’t believe how well the manifolding went and how quickly she adapted - just straight dope. Spliffseeds - be proud. This is quality breeding at it’s finest👍👌💪😎. Amped the feed volume today - she’s getting a full 5litres now just to see where she’s at on the dry. If she’s thirsty and light in another 2 days we may need to go up to 7 litres to keep things ideal for her. Damn I’m impressed with this plant. Thanks to all for the comments and discussion. Limited time to creep everyone’s grows lately so hope everything’s doing well with all👍😎😉! Week 7 update - hee hee hee! check the photos, this thing is ridiculous! It re-leafs so incredibly fast. After a few days post-clip it’s just a giant jungle again and she’s begg’n to be flipped over. We trim her back when it’s outta control and continue to bend her branches outward around the perimeter of the pot. That said, I’m doing what I can to hold off for the sake of the other plant in the cabinet which I would really like to see a couple more weeks growth out of. At this point it may not make a difference cuz this girl might overrun the whole cabinet by the time she’s done! Lol. Week 8 update - coast’n This week. This plant remains insane. Gonna let er grow until the end of the week and then strip and flip. Still wish I had a scrog net but at least I get to choose from a litter of potential colas come the stretch👍😎. I’d do it now but this is strictly for the benefit of the 2 GG getting an extra week after the move over to the big cabinet (purple haze is in the infirmary now). Week 9 update - well she’s gotten quite outta control. Again, this plant is crazy and perfect for scrog. Shame that won’t be possible. Only real or significant change in grow method is watering practices. The entirety of veg. (Due in part to laziness and lack of a drainage pan) she’s gotten only just enough water to sustain her - no run off and she gets ample time to dry. This plant has responded incredibly well to it. That said, she’s now drinking a significant amount so this is likely to change. After round one defo, kinda just gave up and decided I’ll flip er and see which of the 4 million growth tips on this thing win out in the next 3 weeks. I’m obviously gonna have to punch her back again with another defo but for now, we can wait on it while we start the stretch. Alls well folks, flower show come’n up!👍😎 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 10 update - she’s move’n along as expected, stretching out well and starting to see the hairs come out. I trimmed out a bunch of stringy sucker branches that weren’t going to amount to anything and still - this bitch is just untameably dense! Gonna beat er back into submission again in a couple days so should have a much better sense of what we’re working with this week. Stayed tuned fellow people of the leaf.👍😎👊 June 26 update - defo’d er again today. Trimmed out a couple more jnderperforming shoots. Should get some max light exposure move’n into week 3 of stretch. She’s ultra branchy but all is still good.👍 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 11 update - status quo and alls good coming into third week of stretch. The defo has thinned her out quite well but she needs more. She’ll another cleanup in a couple days but for now, we’ve got multiple winner colas coming up and out. Added in a touch of Hydroplex to the feed sched. As per usual. I can’t wait to try this strain, she’s been a dream since day 1. Peace!👊😎 July 4 update - defo’d and cleaned er out a bit today. Damn she’s leggy and she just keeps stretching out like mad! I gotta say that this one got away from us a little, there’s multiple mini bud branches that have come up even after two big prunes. Given how dense the last cycle of plants was and in an effort not to stress er out we’ve held on clipping these off. They should still produce well as long as there’s adequate airflow and breathing room for the big colas that are rising above them. Just a beast of a plant and we’re completely at its mercy until it stops stretching and starts the bulk😳😎👍. Week 12 update - yeah flower shows in full effect now and the budlets are developing nicely. Gonna be real interesting to see how some of these smaller branches fare. If they big up then it’s a significant increase on overall yield. If not, then we’ve probably made a tactical error not removing some more of em earlier in the grow. Either way l, we probably can’t go wrong at this point. The cob light is crazy powerful and we’re gonna pull a great haul off this plant regardless. Alls good growmies 😉👊😎. Week 13 update - she’s been still stretching somewhat but slowing up as she hairs out and packs on bud weight. The last couple of days have been crazy in terms of bud development and she’s gonna be a dense beast for sure😉👍. Per photos, stripped her back and lollipopped er at the bottom quite a bit. It hurt pulling out the smaller, lower shoots but was necessary as they’re only gonna end up larf come harvest time. Again, we eased up on the defo due to the fact that we’re now mid flower and don’t wanna stress er too much. Additionally we’ve been finding better yields with less ruthless pruning now that we have a much better lighting system. It can be touch n go in terms of conditions for bud rot but worth the risk given just how F’n much she’s gonna produce!👍👍😎. I have zero complaints with this girl. She’s just been a dream front to back so far. New little upgrade in the cabinet is a fitted drainage tray which will allow for more run off - this was a luxury we didn’t have before and will be a necessity come late flower when we run the flush (cuz I ain’t carrying this heavy bitch to the sink anymore, that’s for sure😉). As always, thanks for checkn er out y’all👊 July 18 update - over the last couple days bud development has really accelerated. Check the cola photos it’s pretty impressive. Also now prevalent is the smell. This is hands down, far and away, the best and sweetest smelling cannabis we’ve ever grown. It literally smells sweet, like fresh cut strawberry’s. Just unreal.👌👍👌 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. With the weather these days, you’re never gonna be guaranteed of that. Comments, questions and discussion are welcomed as always and thanks very much for stopp’n in and take’n a look👍😎👊.

Week 14 update - she put on 2” of vertical growth last week giving her a full 30” of height to bulk out with. As seen in last weeks pics her colas are now forming out into full buds and we can’t really see anymore stem. What’s even more awesome is that this is the 2nd straight grow that we’re seeing polyploidal bud growth! Just one cola but super cool and I always take these little quirks as a good omen. Absolutely nothing to suggest that she won’t be a super star of a grow and my hat remains off for Spliff Seeds - these are just straight awesome genetics👍. We’ll be entering ripening phase soon if not already there and trich. Photos will follow shortly - check the pics, she’s covered in frost 😎😎😎. Likely one more little prune to clean up some larger fans but other than that, we’ll leave er be until she’s ready for chop. Gotta figure another 2-3 weeks at least. Alls good growmies!👊 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 15 update - I almost lost skin off my hands last time we trimmed her up. Wasn’t wearing gloves and this chick is super sticky and dank🤩. Odds are good that the yo-yos are come’n out on this grow.👍. She’s doing great and not much to report except a little tiny hit of tip burn. She’s telling me it’s time to claw back the nute mix a bit as she ripens out.👍. All is once again, extremely excellent within this cabinet of wonders.😉. Thanks for swing’n by dudes(ettes).👊 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 16 update - home stretch, week 8 of flower and things are lookn stellar. Got some tip burn moving up the fans so she’s startn the fade and probably had enough of the aggressive nute sched. Dropped out the calmag and karma, halved the Hydroplex and dropped the bloom nutes by 5ml. That should take us through this week and put us in a good spot to start the flush. Book on er says 9 weeks flowering and everything Spliff has on this strain in terms of info has been spot on every step of the way👍. As per photos trichs are clouding and developing perfectly for this late stage. The new grow space is colder and more humid than preferred but nothing can be done about this issue during the summer months. We’ve pruned as much as we can and generally speaking, the density is now about average. For a plant that has branched this much, that’s saying a lot. I just can’t say enough about this grow - she’s been an all timer, one of our best to date and just spectacular. Thanks to Spliff seeds and everyone else who bothered to take a peek - not much longer now folks👊. Week 18 update - so we’ve arrived at week 9 of flower and started the flush. She’s pretty much good to go now and we should be chopping er up in a couple of days. Straight ph’d water the last two feeds and trichs are lookn almost perfect with about 5% Amber under the scope. Final harvest deets to follow and this should be the last entry before the overall numbers come in. As always, thanks for be’n around and taken a peek folks👍😎👊. Aug 16 update - three a second big flush at er today and she’s now fade’n fast. Also picked up some bud rot (f$&^ dam&*t!) which will be discussed on next weeks update. Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 19 update - so she technically made it into the start of week 10 flower and we discovered some decent bud rot to one of the winner colas... super 👎 but I can’t say I’m surprised. Been battling a severe humidity issue all summer (probably due In part to outdoor temps and humidity all season). The box was full up as all hell too which didn’t help matters 😉😎. Anyway, you see this shit - you clip it off stat and pray to god you don’t find more. I would’ve preferred to fade er out a little more too, But i really didn’t wanna mess around too much - she’s a beauty of a plant and no sense in risking this any more. Trichs are on point too and in a perfect spot so why fight it. These are some pre-harvest final shots of ‘er before she came down. Next up is the final report peeps - thanks for coming along👍🙏👊 Background We grabbed ourselves some Spliff Strawberry and it’s gonna be receiving the prime real estate in the new grow space for this cycle. Week 18. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

I can very readily say that this strain performed exactly as advertised. Every single thing Spliff had in the description on this girl was accurate. About 9 weeks of flower, branchy and great for a scrog. Phenos usually produce a sweet, “strawberry-like” scent. Robust, resilient, a light-medium feeding plant that doesn’t require a ton of care or maintenance. The fact that it’s sativa dominant does assist with this and she was less effort to defo than others. I give Spliff Seeds full marks and credit for knowing their product, as well as its potential. Thanks dudes, pleasure grow’n your beans👍👊. Taste & Smell: 🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭 Effects: 🍭🍭🍭🍭 As far as a true scent profile in weed goes (given my limited sense of smell), this plant is incredible. There is a lasting sweetness to the smell which is undeniably strawberry. It’s quite surprising how much it comes out when you waft it in or break up the flower. From the bong I found it surprisingly smooth (especially for a half dry initial sample). The better half however, was coughing like mad so at least this girl is 1:1 on her strawberry cough namesake. 4 or 5 good chugs and within a couple minutes that classic cerebral sativa stone starts to set in. Similar to the last jack Herer we grew out (which this one also happens to have in her lineage), this is the kinda stuff that’ll have you staring at the ceiling for 20 minutes... while you try to figure out why you can’t stop staring at the ceiling👍🤩😎. There really isn’t much of any raciness in er but there is still a definitive, yet chill sense of energy and motivation to do something. Actually really perfect for Putin in work on the plants👍👍👍. She seems to finish off with a hint of euphoria mixed with a nice mellow come down. My early take is that I’m incredibly impressed with this strain. Just a great sativa all around. Update Smoked a j of er tonight and this plant is the bomb through and through. Ground a few 2nd tier nugs and rolled one up - damn! This shit is the straight, stellar, bees knees kinda high that everyone likes👌😎. We cut this thing down at just about the perfect time I think. The trichs under the scope are a perfect mix of cloudy and amber. Exactly what we were looking for in terms of the finish👍. The smoke - precure was smooth and sweet, totally unexpected and awesome. It was a sativa heavy line up this season and this girl is the second one off the production line. We won’t be giving away too much of this and selfishly keeping quite a bit of it for ourselves methinks😉.

Method 📊📊 Ran er on a mainline in the hopes that we could really jack out the cabinet on a large, 2-plant grow. Don’t get me wrong here, mission accomplished, Super happy with the results BUT - Spliff suggests you run er in an SOG or SCROG and I fully concur. The branchy-ness of this chick was very surprising and if I’d had the equipment ready at the time, I would’ve been reaching for the net even prior to the stretch. She gets a paltry 2 of 5 graph emojis for this reason and this reason alone. She also became quite unruly during mid-flower and leaf growth lower down the plant packed in far too densely, far too quickly to keep up with. This is the first attempt under this grow light with a photo strain and she performed admirably. It was a great indicator as to the fixtures light penetration limits too which were surprisingly deeper than expected. Long, bulky and dense buds. This COB light has paid for itself multiple times over and I’ve only run 2 cycles through👍. No yo-yoing was required but that was primarily out of laziness and because the branches were packed together with the neighbours. If I had the anchors for the yo-yo’s in place on this cycle Id’ve thrown a couple in just to keep some of the colas from crowding out the gorilla glue next door. Medium 🥥🥥🥥🥥 Coco is the go-to medium in lieu of soil when we grow indoors. Better drainage, faster growth rate (especially in veg.) and re-usable too! We just sort, break and mix all of our old medium together in a couple grow bags and grab as needed for either new grows or soil amendments👍. The fact that it’s nute neutral allows us to dictate exactly what the plant receives at all times. IMO - more manageable and precise than soil. Include a regular diet of calmag and ur good to grow.👍. The only knock is one of its greatest strengths. With better drainage comes more regular feedings. If you prefer to spend less time watering, then soil will get you a day or two more between feedings at most stages. Again however, this mediums biggest advantage is it’s versatility - it goes from nute rich to flushed & neutral in days which means you get to rev the proverbial engine on her uptake right to the finish. All with great drainage and the simplicity of amended soil👍😎. The grow space also deserves some token mention here. It was specifically designed and constructed to run up to 4 plants, in line, per cycle. The idea was to spend heavy on a strong penetration grow light and go higher instead of wider when it came to the actual enclosure. It was a great decision. We save on depth by being skinny but sacrifice nothing with respect to the potential for plant size👍. I understand that bar lights are making a strong case for max coverage but if you’re looking for a single point light source, you definitely can’t go wrong with something like this COB tech.👍 Yield🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴 Let’s be clear here - it was obvious almost from week 1 that this plant was gonna be a beast. She did nothing but flourish from the very start and I again give Spliff Seeds a lot of credit for this. She trimmed (and dried) a lot more than expected. The scissor hand was aching on the finish and it took us 2 nights worth of work to get the whole plant clipped out. The top drawer buds are dense as all hell, absolutely covered in frosty crystals. Maturation is evident to about the bottom of the 2nd tier buds, a full 12” of prime smoke on each main cola. The lesser branches dried up significantly to probably a quarter of their wet-trimmed size. We ground and decarb’d most of the trim (big fans in the compost, sugar leaves and larf in the keeper bin) for future edible use and we have a ton of it. As this is mostly under developed bud and loose plant matter we follow a general rule of double the amount of decarb trim per recipe for butters and oils. Results are somewhat varied but it does produce a much less heavy hitting edible experience which can often be preferable to the more debilitating, heart exploding, full strength goods that utilize mature flower. And you can eat more servings usually too😉👍. Now we did lose about 25% of one main cola due to bud rot. Spotted it early and running off the head thankfully so clipped it out as necessary. As mentioned, she dried up quite a bit after chop but the end result is still much more than we expected. Approximated average yield is possibly the only thing Spliff got wrong in their description. The numbers... sweet Christ, she’s a beast - Total dried yield of 8.75oz. Approx. est. yield: 500g/m2 divides by 4.8 (approx. for 1/3 the cabinets sq/ft) = 104.16g per 0.21m2 Actual yield: 8.75oz./0.21m2= 245g/0.21m2 This is a trend with the new space and crunches out to about 60% higher actual yield than breeder approximated numbers based on square meter footprint. That’s back to back to back, record breaking grows indoors. The yield off this one plant challenged for the total combined yield off the last 2 autos we grew out under the same conditions. Given how well those turned out at 5+ and 4+oz. each - that’s a gong show crazy result for one plant🤩😎. If you look at total, expected harvest yield across all plants for this cycle, there’s almost no point in drawing a comparison anymore. We looking at as much as 2/3 of a pound each cycle out of this one space. That’s just ridiculous for such a relatively small footprint 👍😎👌💪🤩. Props👊👊👊👊👊 Huge props and thanks to all who stopped in to chat on ‘er or just lend some support. We’ve had so many diaries on the grow this year that’s its made it really hard to keep up with what everyone else is doing these days. Add personal life considerations into the mix and it’s a wonder that we have time for this venture at all. Hope to be back creep’n on everyone’s grows once the summer slows down and we finalize the chop on the big ‘uns we have outdoors. This community continues to be chill and chalk full of awesome folks. Thanks again to GD for bringing us all together.👊. And all the best to everyone with an herb on the grow👊👊👊.

Doing the same manifold with 5 shoots per side again?
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@MovingOn, lol! The epic battle between science and anecdotal evidence continues! Lol. There’s so many factors that go into it but you pretty much explained my conundrum here. My own research suggests the same; that there’s a happy medium between pruning/defo and letting live - usually driven by common sense. That said I think you convinced me to just let er go and see what happens. One way or the other I know it’s gonna be a great grow regardless👍😎
MovingOn
MovingOncommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, well, I wish I weren't so much of a noob still, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt, but a lot of botanical science material (by actual botanists vs. closet growers with anecdotal opinions) that I have been reading lately favors less pruning and defoliation. So even if you have a mess, as long as your plant(s) can have an undercurrent of air at their feet, the yield is generally better than if you removed parts of the plant excessively. So that's kind of where I'm at right now, I'm going to limit my pruning and defoliation and just see what happens. I had to cut my veg time significantly this time around, so it will be a good experiment for me anyway. I'm going to compare my 4 week veg yield with a fim on my current grow to the 11 week manifold yields from my previous grow. There are other factors affecting the grow too, so I have to be cautious of my assessments either way, but it will be a good experiment nonetheless. On a side note, I've seen people just use string strung across their tents as a makeshift screen. You would have lines instead of a screen grid, but it works the same. Or maybe even using the bottom section of a tomato cage can help you spread out the shoots. Anyways, best of luck whatever you do!
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@MovingOn, that was the plan but this thing branches like crazy so now I’m not so sure. It’s leggy and don’t think it’ll grow dense so I might consider letting the other side branches on each shoot extend out instead of cutting em off🤷‍♂️. So 25ish colas instead of 10???🤔🤔🤔. That could turn into a hot mess real quick so I’m gonna wait a little and see how it develops. Honestly - this plant was made for a scrog and I wish I had the time to fabricate a net and get a drainage pan under the pot. If staying manifold would you keep it simple at 5 a side or gamble with the hot mess and see what happens? I’ll take a poll on that question from everyone! 😂
