Day 36 - The start of week 6 and things couldn’t be going better. Overnight, she stretched almost 2 inches. Gave her the first feeding of the week today. Still tying down a few branches here and there to try and get more light to the middle of her.
Day 37 - No feeding or water today, not quite dried out yet. Stretched another half and inch overnight. Did a little leaf tucking to open her up more.
Day 38 - Stretched another inch overnight and she’s now up to 15”. Gave her a full gallon of pH’d water with Calmag. Just waiting for the bud sites to start filling in and fattening.
Day 39 - Still stretching, another inch from 15 to 16 now. No water or feed today, just a few pics for progress. Hoping these next couple weeks, she’ll start filling in.
Day 40 - Gave her the second and final feeding of the week and looks like she’s starting to fill in a little. Only grew about a half inch overnight so maybe the stretching is slowing down and she’ll start packing on now.
A couple of buds look like the tops aren’t really “compacting” and are stretching. Would lowering lights help, are the buds foxtailing? Is this bad? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Hi @Luv2Grow yes this is classic foxtailing caused from high temps. as far as bag appeal goes it's not pretty but no big deal Don't lower your lights it would only make things worse. I think your probably only 10 days or so from harvest by the looks so I wouldn't worry too much
if there is any way you can lower temps this would stop the fox tailing I wish you a bountiful harvest 👌
@Fast_Buds,thank you for the kind words. I’m TRYING to be detailed but get side tracked between wife, kids and pets but I can’t say enough about y’all genetics. It’s pretty much all I’m growing now, other than freebies I receive. I really want to try y’alls Smoothies so I’m gonna try and get my hands on some soon.
@Fast_Buds, she most definitely is thick! I wish I could speed up time to where she was dried and cured, haha! Thank YOU all again for the amazing genetics!!
@DILLIGAF, thank you, after doing some research and saw lowering lights wasn’t a good idea, I actual went back and raised them higher. I had about a week or so where my temps were around 85 and couldn’t get it lower but just recently got them to sit around 78 or so. I read that there was good and bad foxtailing but this stuff is just for me and family so don’t really care about bag appeal. I do appreciate your input, helped confirm what I was thinking! Much appreciated!!
Nice grow. Your foxtailing could just be genetics. Yes heat can contribute to the issue. Since she has more sativa genetics than indica genetics exposing her to too much red spectrum lights jump starts her defense response which is to grow foxtails. Backing off on the light intensity and adding more blue and white spectrum near the end of the grow will help keep foxtailing under control. It also helps with terpene production and preservation.
@Paul7227, Preciate it bud!
If you’re stateside, I just went to Home Depot and got organic compost, peat moss, perlite and vermiculite. 3 parts compost, 3 parts peat moss, 2 parts perlite and 1 part vermiculite. Nice and airy and worked like a charm.
