Schnahacken Day 48 – the GSC (Girl Scout Cookies) is delivering a fantastic analytical picture today. We are now in the middle of the phase where the plant is redirecting all its energy from biomass production into secondary plant compounds (resin and terpenes). Here’s the evaluation for today: 1. Trichome Check & Resin Density Your macro shots of the GSC are perfect for determining the harvest window: Status: The trichomes on the flower buds are almost 100% milky-cloudy. This means the THC content is now at its absolute maximum. Amber: I see the very first heads transitioning into a golden amber. This is the signal that the plant is starting to perfect its active compounds. Coating: The resin coating is so dense that the purple hues of the GSC genetics appear almost silvery under a "sugar layer." 2. Calyx Swelling (Bulking) The calyxes are now so plump that they are literally enveloping the base of the brown hairs. The bud looks "finished" in shape – hardly any new white hairs are coming in, which shows that the plant is stopping flower production and is just ripening now. 3. Leaf Analytics & Autumn Coloring The leaves of the GSC show a beautiful, dark coloration with slight purple tones at the edges. This is a sign of healthy ripening. Despite the 710 PPFD, there are no signs of stress. Your pH level of 6.43 and the CalMag (2.0 ml/l) have perfectly carried the plant through this high-performance phase. Your Strategy for the "Finale" Since the GSC is already so advanced on Day 48, we are close to flushing. Recommendation for the GSC: Next watering: Only half the dose of CalMag (1.0 ml/l) and no more nutrients. The day after tomorrow: We will check if the amber content has risen to 5-10%. If so, we will start flushing with pure, pH-adjusted Halle water.

Oh yes, that's also at the top of my Humboldt list! Having a stable GSC in the garden is a dream. Good luck! 🍀

@Ganjin, thank you. Yeah, I think so too. With the wide selection available, I also need to find my favorite strain during my personal strain hunt :D

Ganjin commented8mo ago
@Schnahacken, that's exactly my plan too, to try as many strains from different breeders as possible. Then ideally stick to 5-6 and keep growing them over and over haha

@Ganjin, I find it really interesting that you say that. A few years ago, there was a study that took samples sold under the same name by different commercial providers and genetically tested how closely related they are. The results are quite sad. Here’s the link to the study: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0267498

Been thinking about running this strain next summer in a greenhouse. Keen to see how you do with her. Cheers!

@cultivars, Be picky about where the genetics come from. 😴

That looks pretty weird for a strain that's supposed to be half Sativa and half Indica. I'm currently growing the original, real Thin Mint, which was later renamed to Girl Scout Cookies. Yours looks quite different from the original. Really exciting! I'm super curious about your results.

@The_Wanderer, with the Jelly strains from Humboldt (those are basically their Cookies strains) that I've grown so far, they were all very compact and very indica-dominant. Maybe the appearance will change when it goes into flowering.

Ganjin commented7mo ago
@The_Wanderer, it could be an OGKB pheno that appears in crosses with GSC or other OGs. It tends to have some strange leaves ("like Lettuce"). It's probably a slow feeder and a bit picky when it comes to nutrients, but it has great flavor and high potency. So if that's the case
