Week 1 - well, the start to this girls life has begun with our first challenge. Thankfully it makes for a great example and lesson on what to do when the tap root pops but has difficulty shedding the seed and inner membrane.
As per the photos (sorry about the resolution), she shed her seed but only after popping out of the soil and she wasn’t able to properly break the membrane to spread out her cotelydons. As a result, the membrane was stuck to the tips of each cotelydon pinching them (and the first pair of actual leaves inside) together. If you leave the seedling to figure this out for itself then there’s a good chance that the cotelydons will rot out inside the membrane and the seedling will die.
The solution - SURGERY!!😬. To help this little girl along I took an exacto knife and VERY CAREFULLY stuck it in between the pinched cotelydons and sliced through the membrane in an effort to “manually” split them apart and allow for growth. Well, surgery was an success and the seedling immediately spread right out. Low and behold, the first pair of leaves had already started growing inside the cotelydons and it was like the little plant took a huge sigh of relief. As soon as it gets a little larger I’ll try to get a close up of the cotelydons. You can tell by the yellowing on the tips that we had very little time left. We’re off to the races folks. Thanks for the look👊
Background
Ceres Seeds is a breeder out of Amsterdam with a solid rep. In the biz. We chose this for a purpose as it’s a combination of our 2 all time, fave strains. It’s a sativa dominant cross of Amnesia Haze and Sour Diesel. Pretty much the bees knees for an energetic and uplifting day time smoke.
Method is simple and the same as that of our Skywalker OG: 15gal. Pot with a home brew mix of soil, compost, perlite and coco. Very basic nute regimen. Likely only grow and bloom nutes throughout the whole cycle unless they start to show deficiencies. Realistically, the compost should take care of most of the nutrition but the added nutes once a week just provide that little bit extra👍. It’ll be a competition to see which one gets largest as there will be no training save some minor pruning.😉. The questions, comments and good karma are always welcome and thanks for stopp’n in!👊😎
@CRiSPrGrow, u got it brotha👍 As soon as she was tall enough to get an extra hour or two of light that was shaded by our roof she started pumping out heavy. I’m gonna guess she’ll be close to twice her current size when flowering starts and stretch is finished👍👍👍
@CRiSPrGrow, 🤔 hmmm not quite yet I think. Just might look like it now that she’s getting more sun. She’s busting out full inches of growth every day but don’t expect flower for another month or so. Only time will tell right👍. Cheers homie👊
@mr_h_kovert, lol! Cheers bud. She comes down tomorrow actually so may be another couple weeks before the harvest update. Thanks for checkn er out as always👍😎👊
