7 seeds germinated, 7 seeds planted total. There was 1 that had some trouble coming up from the rooter and ended up a bit of a runt. 2 were more vigorous than the rest, though all had good vigor. Alternating between plain water and 2ml/gal of Rhizo Blast.
**Moving them into the flowering tent but under MH bulb...garden was colder than I'd like with the lights off and some plants seemed to be impacted by the cold temps more than others. Good variety of phenos with some looking really sativa leaning, all phenos have very solid growth structure**
Alternating between feeding with PBP Grow, Hydroguard, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast ... and then plain water.
**Tested some tester product called Photosynthesis Plus on the most mature plant of the bunch (front and center), used about 5ml/Gal, not sure if I used it incorrectly or what but it seemed to really stress out the plant causing the top to yellow and growth to slow. Used it standalone, but likely on me for improper understanding of the product. Otherwise everything is looking really solid, phenos are really starting to show their growth difference now!**
Alternating between feeding with PBP Grow, Hydroguard, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast, Cal-Mag ... and then plain water.
**Heavy drinkers are taking water every day while some of the others are still adjusting to their 1 gal pots so it's been a bit difficult to keep up with all of them. Some of the phenos which have strong vigor are really taking over, and I've got my eye on 1 or 2 for possible keepers based on structure/cloneability/branching alone so we'll keep a close watch on those as they head into flower. Guinea pig plant (front right) still recovering from the Photosynthesis Plus experiment but it looks like its turning the corner.**
**Repotted into 3 gal**
Alternating between feeding with PBP Grow, Hydroguard, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast, Cal-Mag ... and then plain water.
**Switched the lights and bulbs to 12/12 Flowering. Surprisingly, the plants were mature enough to show sex fairly quickly within the first week of flowering, I was able to easily identify 3 males and 4 females. 1 of the males was interesting enough to warrant pics, I would have liked to keep it for breeding if I had that kind of space/set-up. The branching and structure was really something else and it put off a solid pungent smell. The 4 females that remain provide a good variety of phenos with 1 looking sativa leaning, 1 indica leaning, and 2 that look very similar.**
**Trying a new feeding method as well...**
Alternating between FEED (PBP Grow/Bloom, Cal-Mag), BOOST (Hydroguard, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast, Mammoth P), and FLUSH (plain water).
**Hit a snag with pH when my meter fluctuated. Seemed to impact the GN#1 (Sativa) the most (showed moderate curling on the upper leaves). GN#2 showed typical pH issues (leaf folding/crooked). GN#3 & 4 didn't seem too phased by it though with #4 managing to stay pretty lush green through it. Flushed with 6.4 pH water and will overwater for a few future waterings to ensure salt and pH are managed back to 6.4.**
**Also going to flush with water + 1/4 strength PBP from now on to ensure no lockouts or deficiencies occur from straight water**
Alternating between FEED (PBP Grow/Bloom, Cal-Mag), BOOST (Hydroguard, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast, Mammoth P, Bud Candy, HP2), and FLUSH (plain water then PBP @ 1/4 strength).
This week went smoothly without too much issue. Still coming back from the pH fluctuation a week or so ago, but overall they are looking very healthy and vigorous. Most of the plants are 'V'ing up towards the light which is a pretty good indication they are hitting a stride. Start of trichome production is looking promising as well (for such low RH). The sativa leaning pheno still seems to be the most picky as it will shows signs of distress on any given day and look great the next. Currently the most consistent well growing of the plants is the GN#4, no matter what hits this plant it stays lush green and vigorous. If I had to rank them based on growth at the moment (looking for a keeper) it would be GN#4, GN#2 (Indica Leaning), GN#1 (Sativa Leaning), GN#3.
Still alternating between FEED -> BOOST -> FLUSH for a watering cycle.
I recently replaced my 1000w Standard HPS bulb with an EYE HORTILUX 25% more blue spectrum 1000w. Hopefully the extra blue in the spectrum bumps up the trich and terpene production.
Overall this was a pretty good week, at this point I'm usually using Beastie Bloomz to bulk them up, but I'm trying out Hydroplex this run. I did hit a bit of a snag where it looks like I ran into a Phosphorus deficiency (whether it's a deficiency or a lockout I'm not 100% sure, my assumption is deficiency because I have been giving them a good amount of water each watering, I've been letting a decent amount drain out the bottom, and with them heading into the bulky weeks I don't think I've had any lasting pH issues, so I'm leaning a bit more towards deficiency than lockout.
I also switched up the feeding schedule as I didn't really like how they were looking after giving them plain water flushes (they'd look really great for a day, but then show minor signs of deficiency). I'm now feeding almost every water but wayyy lighter than I used to. Feeding like a fraction of what the bottle is saying and overall they are looking very good and healthy (aside from P issues). I alternate between feeding with base and additives and just organic additives (with HP2 as my 'bloom booster')
There is a clear winning when considering production and output, the GN #2 is the clear cut winner there. You'll be able to tell which it is just by the pictures, the nugget structure is MASSIVE on that girl. Definitely leaning more towards the DAWG side of the stardawg parent.
The Sativa leaning GN#1 has been chugging along as well, this one has been the most finicky plant in the garden (and most finicky plant for me in a WHILE too) but it seems to be stabilizing nicely now. What's interesting about this girl is she has straight sativa leaning branching/stretching but has some of the tightest nugs and smallest pistils out of anything in the garden. A truly interesting combination of parent genetics, I'm excited to see how these buds turn out even though they are clearly the smallest in the garden right now.
The "Twins" #3 & #4 are both doing fantastic and are easily the most frosty ladies in the garden. Both are still sooo similar in structure but they are starting to show their differences with nugget production and terpene profiles. Unfortunately I made a decision to cut #3 from the clones I took as I had thought #4 was easily the winner between the 2. #3 must not have liked that and really put on some serious trich and terpene production in the last week and has somewhat overtaken it's #4 sister at least for the moment. Without any cuts of the #3 this is the last remaining lady of that phenotype in the wild so we'll just have to enjoy whatever smoke she puts off. To hype #4 a little bit...no matter what I do to this plant it refuses to show anything other than LUSH green leaves with that beautiful wax coating that lets you know your grow game is on point. The other ladies seem to be struggling with Phosphorus? Not this girl. She hasn't missed a step no matter what I've thrown at 'em.
Overall it was a pretty stable and quiet week. I continued with the feeding program and without bumping the nutrients up or around too much I'm kinda just on autopilot. I'm unsure how long this strain is supposed to go (pack says 70-80 days) so assuming that's close or correct I'm about half way which is pretty encouraging from all the production I've seen so far. GN #3 and #4 seem to be the frostiest out of all the ladies with GN #2 being the heaviest producer BY FAR (this plant is straight grenade nuggets, absolutely massive). I'm still waiting on GN#1 to really fill out as it is very visually behind the others in terms of production, but as it appears to be the most sativa of the bunch I could see it running for a couple more weeks so maybe that will offset the production. One thing I did notice with this strain and I'm not sure if it's because of the strain or just because I maybe messed up my veg/bloom transition phase but they sputtered out of Nitrogen right about mid week (week 5), I had thought I was dealing with a Phosphorus deficiency but I do believe it's actually Nitrogen as all the lower leaves are uniformly turning yellow while staying soft and not burning at the edges (similar to Mag), so for all future runs I'll definitely make sure to provide these ladies with a lot of N right out of the gate, hopefully this isn't compounded by the longer flower period.
Trichome Production (in order from highest to lowest production): GN #3 -> GN #4 -> GN #2 -> GN #1
Flower Production (in order from highest to lowest production): GN #2 -> GN #3 -> GN #4 -> GN #1
Sativa to Indica growth (in order from most Sativa leaning to most Indica leaning): GN #1 -> GN #3 -> GN #4 -> GN #2
Odor Strength (in order from strongest odor to least strongest odor): GN #4 -> GN #3 -> GN #2 -> GN #1
Odor Type: GN#1 - A bit of chem here, still waiting for it to really develop, definitely some sour notes though. GN #2 - STRONG chem genetics coming through, deep rotten sour smell, some hints of rubber ball. GN #3 - Incense/Berry odors, a mix of sharp and sweet that is hard to place (most like Golden's I've tried). GN #4 - PINESOL ALL THE WAY. My god this stuff reeeeeeks like pine chemical cleaner.
Overall though nothing too crazy going on for the mid flower update. Likely going to hit them with another feed on the next water then an organic brewed tea (with just some basics) to try and keep the good times rolling.
Thanks for checking out the grow, see you guys next week!
This week was a pretty solid week. I did have one day where the plants were underwatered (they seemed like they could run an extra 12 hours into the next cycle, but it was not the case). So that was a bit of setback, to help assuage this and any damage done to the roots from the underwatering I brewed up an organic tea. For the tea I used one of the Xtreme Tea tea-bags/activator packs, 30 ml Liquid Karma, 30 ml HP2 (Aurora), a scoop of mycorrhizae, and 15 ml Unsulfered Molasses. Every time I brew a tea with some custom ingredients it's a bit of hit or miss how well the plants receive it, but they seemed to really enjoy this one, really helped them pick back up where they were before getting hit by underwatering.
Now that we got the bad stuff out of the way, things are looking nice and chunky in the garden this week. I'm constantly impressed with the frostiness of this strain, I really feel like they do have a prize-winning Stardawg male over there @GreenpointSeeds. For how different the phenos are in the strain, the one unifying/consistent thing is how friggin' frosty these are.
The phenos continue to deviate from each other more by the day:
The GN#1 is taking on a very tall OG-esque look to it, with a deep funk smell behind the buds. I expect this one to be the latest bloomer out of all, likely going the longest, and probably choosing to bulk up the most in the last weeks rather than the opening ones.
The GN#2 is the chunkiest thing in my garden right now and a COMPLETE head nod to the chems the Stardawg comes from, the nuggets are shaped like pinecones or grenades and the leaf/calyx ratio HIGHLY favors the calyxes. The smell on this lady is similar to the GN#1 with a deep musk to it.
The GN#3 continues to be the frostiest thing in the garden, with #4 and #2 and coming up closely behind it. This one leans the most towards the Island Sweet Skunk of the Golden Goat in my opinion. The smell is really unique and kinda reminds me of berry hash or the mother pheno behind Russian Petrol (Grapefruit Diesel). It is definitely the most unique outlier in terms of bringing Golden Goat into the forefront, the other phenos seem to lean REALLY hard towards chem. #3 is probably the 2nd largest producer in the garden right now.
The GN#4, the lush green meanie. Though other plants have struggled at times with lockouts or deficiencies this plant continues to be a shining beacon of lush green leaves. This plant honestly doesn't give 2 thoughts as to what you do to it or how you treat it, makes the other ladies in the garden seem like primadonnas. The colas are very interesting looking with a contrast of shiny trichs and dark green leaves that have a very "sharp" appearance. This plant is somewhere in the middle of the producers but it does look like the quality of nugget it puts off should keep this one around for a while. The smell on this one is EASY to place, one quick whiff and you're slapped in the face with lemon pinesol cleaner. It's intense. I've had similar smells in MKUltras I've run before, just an absolute nose shattering chem smell.
Since we're closing out week 6 I'll likely start tapering the nutes off, though I highly suspsect these plants will be 10-11 week plants, typically about a week or two longer than most strains I run. So I'll probably taper off a bit slower than usual, though as always the priority is a super clean, well flushed, final product. I'm happy to lose a bit of growth/production to ensure that these are smooth smoking buds.
Happy growing guys! See you next week.
Started off the week prepping for the late stages of flowering by giving them some cha-ching from FoxFarm, typically the FoxFarm products work really well though it's easy to overdo it with the powder additives, I like to go pretty light on them since you still see solid growth. That said, the watering where I gave them some ChaChing and checked the trichomes I had a bit of a scare as on the GN#4 and GN#3 I was seeing significant % of amber trichomes, when checking the #2 and #1 it was less noticeable but still somewhat present. I wanted to make sure I didn't make the same mistakes as last time and misjudge the flush timing,
For the follow up waterings I started alternating between molasses and water, working to flush out the plants until eventually just water is needed. Checking the trichomes later on in the week after watering it looked like most of the trichomes were milky with #1 still showing significant clear heads (as suspected it's likely gonna be the longest flowerer). So after a bit of judgement I think the #4 and #3 are likely to finish first, with #2 behind and then #1, if the #1 suffers a bit from the early flush then that will be a bit of a learning experience. Otherwise I think it'll be a solid 2 week, 2.5 week flush.
Anyways, things are really starting to fatten up and once again I need to state how frosty they are. It's really some of the more shimmery stuff I've ever grown. Props to GPS.
Pushing into the last weeks!
Straight molasses this week, and they seemed to love it! They are all frosting up nicely, but the real tell of this week is how big the calyxes are swelling up. Ultimately I may have started the flush a week or so early, but such is the game working with new genetics, I'm not too concerned about a slightly longer flush time.
GN#1 - Still the tallest plant in the garden, more straight cylindrical spear like colas than the typical grenade/chunky colas. Very interesting bud structure compared to plant height. I've seen this type of bud growth before in plants that typically hit their growth/adding weight period in the very very last weeks, and with my suspicions of a 1-2 week longer flowering time (and from checking the trichs) that would seem to be the case for now. The smell is a deep skunky musk, not quite rubber or offensive like diesels or OGs but quite strong in it's own way. The trichs are less pronounced on this plant, though still abundant, and the buds underneath almost put off a blueish-green rather than a lime green on the other plants. Definitely a plant to keep an eye on over the upcoming weeks.
GN#2 - Hands down the producer of the bunch. If you're growing for production/quantity this is the cut you would want. Easily packing on the most weight and unless the #1 does some serious catch-up in the last weeks I don't see anyone else taking top spot from this plant. The double bonus with this plant is the frost factor, every single spot on the bud is coated in trichs. I'm really excited to see this one come down as I think it's bag appeal is gonna be very solid. The one weak spot it does have is that it has the weakest smell in the room, it does put off a deep skunk musk, similar to the #1 but weaker in overall depth/strength. Overall though I still think it will be able to bring it home in the bag/jar and fill that space with a good smell to match it's great looks.
GN#3 - Greetings from the tropics! This plant leans quite hard into the Island Sweet Skunk in my opinion. I love chems and deep funk smells but thank god this plant showed up to help break the trend. This plant REEKS like fruit punch roadkill, which is absolutely enjoyable. Probably the 2nd biggest producer in the garden and very frosty to boot, also one of the only ones that puts frost out far into the fan leaves giving it a nice shimmery appearance. This plant is very chunky and has a good amount of deep green 'cupped' leaves that I've seen on other Skunk varieties I've grown. This plant seems like it will be the earliest finisher and its fading faster and the trichs seem to be maturing a bit quicker than the other plants. Not sure whether it will be a 9-10 week plant though.
GN#4 - The cleaner. Brushing up against this plant unleashes the smell of pinesol, hell, even looking at the plant the wrong way unleashes the smell of pinesol 😃 This plant is definitely a bit smaller than the others but what it lacks in weight it makes up for in trichome production and smell. This plant easily has the best trich production out of the 4 and it's at the point the buds look almost white with trichs stacking on top of each other, filling almost all the available space. Both this and the #3 look very bubbly and bulbous as the calyxes are swelling which really give them an interesting appearance. From everything I've read about Chem 4 that's the pinesol leaner and finishes up in 11 weeks, so I'll keep an eye on this one for how long it's supposed to go. Seems like it could be the 2nd earliest finisher at this point though.
For the upcoming week I'm going to flip to straight water, this might result in a ~3 week flush for the #1, but should only be 1.5-2 week flushes for the other plants (assuming my timings right). Since I'm not growing for production, I'm OK with this loss of weight giving them such an early flush, but ultimately I'd like to run this strain properly and feed right up to the last weeks.
Anyways, thanks for checking out this weeks update! Happy growing to everyone 👽
Straight water week. Kind of in autopilot a bit, just giving plain water pH'd water and monitoring the trichomes.
Almost all phenos seem like their gonna be between the breeders suggested 10-11 week window, with MAYBE the GN#1 going beyond that. I'd expect GN#3 to come down first as it is the furthest along, with GN#4 behind it and then GN#2 most likely
Overall the fade is going nicely, yellows are starting to creep in everywhere and take over. I have seem some purple coloration (which GPS seeds typically have from the Stardawg male) but nothing like what they're showing on the site (just an observation as I'm perfectly happy without any coloration), I believe this is due to the fact I couldn't bring down my temps to really encourage the color change. I was able to drop the water temp which has helped some, but overall my ambient air temps have remained the same through all weeks.
To get into the plant specifics...
ALL PLANTS HAVE SOLID TRICHOME PRODUCTION. These ladies are serious business when it comes to frostiness. I know I've said it in previous weeks as well, but they just keep stacking on the frost as we close out the weeks.
GN#1 -This plant continues to bulk up, absolutely the latest bloomer of the group though. The buds have an almost 'greenish-blue' like appearance under the trichomes and the colas definitely fill out more into a full branch than the pocket nugs of the other phenos. Very skunky and sweet smell that has gotten more complex over the weeks.
GN#2 - I'm quite confident that this will be the biggest yielder at this point. It really just puts the other phenos to shame in terms of production. The trichome production on this plant is also something truly special, it's really putting on the frost and is probably the 2nd frostiest pheno in the bunch. This pheno does have a nice musky smell, but the downside is it's the weakest smell of the bunch, though still probably able to fill a jar/bag without too much issue. This plant proves that finding the right pheno is hard stuff, as this plant is like 2/3 a keeper for sure.
GN#3 - The tropical skunk leaner...This plant seems to have a solid trichome blanket as well, but made with much smaller trichomes that seem less pronounced from a distance but up close just completely cover the buds. These buds smell sickly sweet and skunky, a much more focused sweet than the GN#1 which seems to bring out more of the skunk/musk with the fruit. This pheno smells like a fruit basket, not just a single fruit. I'm very excited to bring this plant down and I'm pretty confident it will be the first one down and could possibly be the best tasting of the bunch!
GN#4 - If we could plot this plants "smell" journey out, it would be VERY interesting in my opinion. This plant started off smelling 100% like pinesol, then kind of matured a bit to the point of smelling like model glue (somehow more offensive and acrid than Pinesol), then in the last couple days it has started to take on a fruit smell behind the acridness. It's a very interesting plant and easily has the best trichome production/coverage of all the phenos. I haven't had the chance to smoke any final product yet, but if I had to pick my keeper RIGHT NOW, it would be #4 for the absolutely stunning look of the buds with calyxes swelling and pouring out over each other, and a smell that absolutely knocks you off your feet.
Overall I think about 1.5 - 2 more weeks for these plants. Then we'll bring it down.
Pics from Day 69 - I'm going to let GN #2, 3, and 4 go to Day 75 and pull them down, while giving GN #1 time to finish up.
The calyxes are really swelling and purple hues are creeping in on all the plants.
Smells continue to be strong on all plants and resin production continues to stack, so hopefully we'll just ride it out until the chop!
I'm not 100% sure how I'm planning on doing continued GN#1 updates while trying to provide a journal dry/cure/smoke update for the others, so I may keep the journal open for a few more weeks.
Thanks for checking in, not too much to update but looking forward to the upcoming harvest!
Stay tuned for upcoming grow journals:

@RussianPetrol, thanks man , yea the batch of oil is very strong , I took just 1ml of oil at 4 in the afternoon the other day and was still laying in bed at 2 in the morning buzzing like a bee lol just couldn't sleep , lol best part is this batch I made a full 1 ltr of it so will last me a very long time I added one Oz per 1 cup of oil so it's a nice one for sure ,
Looking awesome. I just popped a few GPS seeds a couple weeks ago, 2 Dreamcatchers and 2 Chinook Haze. Good to see a few other diaries with their seeds. They appear to have stellar genetics.
@buddha61, That's awesome dude! Good luck with your grow. I have a pack of Dreamcatcher as well so if you're doing a journal for those I'll definitely check it out, I'm really interested to see how those come out for you. This is my first run with GPS seeds but so far I'm really enjoying it, they're absolute frost factories. I'll likely pop some more GPS next round so we'll hopefully get to see how just how stellar the genetics are!
