I thought I was done with growing until spring but I just couldn't help myself, I just had to grow something.
So about 3 days ago , I placed two seeds from a pack of 5 regular Colorado clementines which I purchased from Aussie Canna Seeds Australia into a shot glass filled with luke warm rainwater overnight.
The next day I then placed the seed's into a pre moistened facial makeup remover pad then placed that into a zip lock bag.
Two day's later Only one of seeds had sprouted so she was carefully planted tap root down
into a mixture of coco coir and perlite and placed onto a heat mat under a small T5 light.
The other seed was left to continue germinating however I don't like it's chances.
##update the second seed is cactus 😞
The seedling I still have is from reg seed stock so there is a 50/50 chance it will become male if this happens
I will collect the pollen and compost the plant if it's a girl she will be allowed to grow out
👊
Good idea
Just wondering how do you plan to quarantine the pollin as you grow outdoors?
Im guessing Australia is a big place so it shouldn’t be too difficult to put distance between them :)
@DILLIGAF, thanks for illuminating a whole branch of learning I did not even consider existed.
Will be delving in to pollen and best practices when handling to learn more.
Cheers big ears 👍🏽
@Techpuffin, good question the only females i have are in my tent and the males outside however once it starts poppin pollen I need to make sure I don't inadvertantly carry it inside to the girls on my clothes or hands So I plan to only go near the male once Ive already checked on the girls for that day and will take xtra precautions when it;s shedding Gonna sieve it and freeze it for later on
Well you may have found a keeper genetics wise let's hope for the best so as to continue on a new generation with awesome characteristics you are looking for awesome looking plant..
