PavementPunk I made my own living soil with premixed nutrients and minerals from KIS Organics and added peat moss, compost/manure, pumice, biochar, a little worm castings and worms maybe 15 or 20 from my backyard. It actually smells pretty good in the tent like good fresh soil. Or im i a weirdo lol. I feel like i did a decent job mixing the ratios and letting it cook for 3 weeks. It might be slightly light on nutrients but i do have a bit i saved for top dressing. Im hopeful this is a rewarding method. This seedling got a little stretchy. I used a heat mat for the first time and germinated directly into peat pucks. They popped a lot faster than i expected. Hopefully this doesn't hurt things too bad. Environment has been pretty good. Got the light at 16 inches @ 44% power 🀞happy growing yall ✌️

PavementPunk Sorry im a day or 2 late w my diaries. Pretty sure the fly issue is negatively affecting 2 of my 3 seedlings. Sigh. Wondering if living soil was a mistake. I put down some pumice around the base of these babies in a small circle as a mulch to hopefully protect their roots. Watered them only where my rocks are. I planted cover crops for the living soil watered everything in and covered it with some dry peat pumice mix i had. I hit that with a decent layer of diatomaceous earth too and another sticky trap or 2. Hoping this helps get it under control. I also gave them all a good bottom watering more to keep the soil moist than to actually water the seedlings, while keeping top layer dry for the flies. I got a flying insect plug in trap on the way too. The BPP RF3 is looking pretty good and doing well at least there is that lol happy growing yall ✌️

PavementPunk fish & kelp w myco + 1/4 strength hopefully helps. bugs suck hopefully thursday this WDG 3000 bti will tko them. The bpp rf3 was doing better than the other 2 for the first few weeks, now nycd and grape ape seem to have bounced back some and purple punch is suffering now. Im a hack. What is this grow!? Lol fml man. Few more days. I wanna start my photo seedlings soon. Im hopeful this living soil will be good once i get the flies dealt with. Still figuring out this light too. Got it about 16 inches from canopy @ 65% easing it up to 80% over a week or 2. Wish me luck friends happy growing ✌️

PavementPunk This girl is doing ok but not near as big as she should be, still good recovery. They all look better since the first full strength dose of wdg3000. I gave them 2 with a 1/4 strength myco+ dose in between. Gave some other living soil i have in a pot a decent but of it too to hopefully start getting rid of any fly larvae in there. I want this grow to bounce back even though its already half over. Maybe. I might need to do 1 more auto run instead of my photos next. Light at 80% @ 16 inches Happy growing friends ✌️

PavementPunk This girl is doing well got some lst and defol on one side. Im experimenting not being lazy lol. Shes a little crowded and could have had more lower growth removed. Im not the best at judging where to lollipop. I just need an under canopy light lol mother nature gave some good weather for 2 days got my first perfect score for the flowering environment from the vivosun app woohoo lol i got over the tiny yellow leaf tips and decided i wasnt gonna let these buds get loose so i bumped the light up to 100% at 16ish inches. Laying the hammer down. Not gonna baby em like last time. They seem totally good with the intense light. Think thats about it for this week. Happy growing friends ✌️

PavementPunk Light training and defoliation. My main criticism of myself is im not great at figuring out how much lower nodes i should remove. In my defense this grow was a bit wonky w the bug issues. I didnt think these plants were gonna get this big. I also didnt really wanna cut a bunch of stuff off them when they were still recovering. I suppose an under canopy light would solve this lol they got bottom watered in the noon sun top watered with wdg3000 and instant compost tea. Watering more frequently as they are thirstier about every 48. Im feeling pretty good about my garden. This has been a trying grow but i try to take each adversity as a test to not let things bother me and attempt to control my emotions. Some days i do better than others lol but honestly i think i am growing with these flowers too. Im trying i swear. Dont let bugs ruin your day lol happy growing friends ✌️

PavementPunk BPP has really started producing some beautiful purple flowers. Finally seeing the frost too. I think my early pest issues extended my expected timelines a bit. Probably 2 weeks. Doing well tho!Things are pretty stable in the tent. A bit warm and humid as usual but thats my climate. Main note is defoliation of fan leaves for light penetration air flow and maybe most important reducing humidity. Been doing 48 hour waterings gonna go a little bit longer closer to 72 trying to fight the humidity. Dont want the living soil getting too dry either. A soil moisture meter would be helpful. Still wanna get a vcure for my post harvest but alas i haven't ordered one yet lol. Hard to drop that much $ on 1 purchase for me. Messed w putting the dehumidifier in the tent. Temps went up to almost 80. Vpd was like 1.6 too. I think if i didnt have my tent stuck in the back of a bathroom it would be easier to keep it cooler. Been messing w having my intake at different spots in the tent. Haven't found a magic spot yet lol. Happy griwing friends ✌️

PavementPunk Main notes from this week are i did a bottom watering out in the intense sun. The transition may have stressed them a little. Got some brown burnty spots on a few top leaves, all good. Also hit them with a molasses watering that i phed to 6.4. Shes a looker thats for sure and her structure is pretty impressive with multiple side branches as tall and chunky as the main. Overall happy w her and this grow in general now that things have gotten more stable lol happy growing yall ✌️

PavementPunk Gave her another teaspoon of langbeinite before watering. Things look good shes the prize of the tent. I may have harvested the other 2 a smidge early but it was worth it because its allowed me to get the vpd up to a steady 1.5 with the lower humidity in the tent. Shes responding well finishing chunking up ripening her pistils and i cant see her being more than 3-7 more days until harvest. The smell is pretty nice although subtle and not intense. All in all everything is generally going well in the garden. Happy growing friends ✌️ sidenote 3 days later the smell is stronger and more pronounced and very nice.

Once i got my living soil bug issues under control this baby took off. She may be the most purple plant ive grown yet. I can tell its purple from the genetics not the environment. I did have night temps down to 65 F though lol. The smell is fruit punchy and light. Its nice i would say i like lemon cherry cookies better tho. Im really impressed with the structure on this beast. The bottom branches were nearly as tall as the main cola and the 5 runt branches i missed all stretched like crazy to get to the light and actually make some ok buds. A pleasant grow all around and this was my favorite plant of the grow. Will smoke report. Stay green friends

Top dress with diotomatious earth. That kills the eggs. Yellow traps the adults.
PavementPunk
PavementPunk commented4mo ago
@Natrona, im probably to blame. The soil sat outside uncovered cooking for 3 weeks. Pretty sure thats where my bugs came from. I didnt realize covering it was so important
Natrona
Natrona commented4mo ago
@PavementPunk, I keep my soil in 27gal storage totes.
PavementPunk
PavementPunk commented4mo ago
@Natrona, thats smart. idk i figured some rain and air would be fine. I mixed it in a large probably 55 gallon tote outside but the top to it is long gone. It probably wouldn't have fit anymore anyway. I thought about wrapping a garbage bag around the top.living soil is super attractive to flies...Idk i didnt see this becoming a huge issue lol or i would have covered it or brought it inside. Sighs lol i got this wdg3000 stuff coming but it doesnt get here for like a week. This grow is just hit πŸ˜†

@Huntablunt, i think the rf3 versions may be a bit more resilient and consistent. It is the most purple plant ive grown. Good structure and pretty easy grow
