Germination
4mo ago
MGGrowRoom Kicking off my entry in the Eternity Grow Cup 2026, hosted by Zamnesia and Plagron, with Zamnesia's Sticky Broccoli strain. Germination and Planting: Started with a single seed soaked in a cup of water for 24 hours to initiate germination. The planting medium is a well-seasoned soil mix I've recycled through 5-6 previous cycles, aiming to emulate a living soil environment. It's amended with organic matter to foster microbial activity, and there might even be a few earthworms in the mix contributing to natural aeration and nutrient cycling. Planted directly into the prepared pot, and the seedling emerged 3-4 days later—solid 100% germination rate so far. Current Status: The seedling has reached about 1cm in height, showing healthy initial growth with no signs of stress. Cotyledons are unfurling nicely, and I'm monitoring closely for the first true leaves. Environmental Conditions: Running everything in a Mars Hydro tent with their integrated air system and LED lights for consistent performance. Nighttime temps are holding steady at around 24°C, climbing to 27°C during the day. On sunnier days outside, we've seen peaks up to 28°C, but the setup handles it without issue. Humidity levels are averaging 50-55%, with a low of 48% observed—right in the sweet spot for early veg to prevent damping off while encouraging root development.Excited to see how this Sticky Broccoli progresses under these conditions. Stay tuned for updates as we move into veg phase. Shoutout to Zamnesia and Plagron for making this contest happen—let's grow! #EternityGrowCup2026 #StickyBroccoli #Zamnesia #Plagron

MGGrowRoom Week 1 Vegetation Strain: Sticky Broccoli Automatic (Zamnesia) Grow Type: Indoor tent (Mars Hydro) Medium: Recycled living soil with mulch, rocks, and organic debris (5–6th run) Pot Size: 17 L Light: Mars Hydro LED, 18/6 schedule, 65–75 cm from canopy Environment: Day temps 25–27°C, night 23–24°C, RH ~50% Watering: 1–1.5 L every ~3 days (when top soil dry to touch) Nutrients/Amendments: Plain water so far (living soil carrying), no heavy feeds yet Height: Reached 5–7 cm by end of week Observations: Week 1 veg kicked off strong after germination/pop. Seedling emerged healthy and first true leaves developed with some initial odd shape/edges (minor mutation, smoothed out fast, no ongoing issues). Growth steady but compact, vibrant green color, no stress signs. "Climber Joe" (Mouse melon vine companion) already stretching aggressively—training him upward to keep shadows off the main girl; selective pruning if he crowds. On the 0-to-Trump scale? Solid 8. She's laying a strong foundation... and strong foundations make everything great again. Right?! Excited to see bush-out and how pre-flowers develop next. Thanks to @Zamnesia and @Plagron for powering the Eternity Grow Cup 2026—let's grow!

MGGrowRoom Week 2 Vegetation Strain: Sticky Broccoli Automatic (Zamnesia) Grow Type: Indoor tent (Mars Hydro) Medium: Recycled living soil with mulch, rocks, organic debris (5–6th run) Pot Size: 17 L Light: Mars Hydro LED, 18/6 schedule, distance 65-75 cm from canopy Environment: Day temps 25-27°C, nights 23-24°C, RH ~50% (consistent) Watering: ~1.2-1.7 L every ~3 days (top dry to touch); this week watered some on top layer and some in bottom tray with humic concentrate to encourage roots to search deeper Nutrients/Amendments: Light humic concentrate drench added post-LST for recovery and root strength; living soil still main driver Height: Started slow (8–10 cm early week), stretched to 15 cm by end of week Training: Light trim on lower/inner growth + LST applied end of week (main stem bent/tied horizontally with soft ties, sides positioned for even light) Observations: Week 2 started a bit slow-steady but no big leaps early on, but she made up for it with a solid stretch toward the end (17 cm total height). First preflowers ("mustaches"/pistils) visible at nodes, confirming female auto. LST timed perfectly to control the stretch and promote bushy side branching; plant bounced back quickly with help from humic boost. "Climber Joe" hit the top of the tent and is now stretching sideways - training him aggressively upward/sides to avoid any canopy shade; if he gets too vine-y, some pruning to keep the main girl in the spotlight. On the 0-to-Trump scale? 8.5 and rising - she's starting to make the canopy great again with that LST foundation. No major issues (minor early leaf quirks resolved, no pests/stress). Roots getting encouraged to dig deeper with split watering. Excited for week 3 bush-out and early flower push. Shoutout to @Zamnesia and @Plagron for powering the Eternity Grow Cup 2026 - let's keep this grow sticky and winning!

MGGrowRoom Week 1 Flowering – Sticky Broccoli Automatic Strain: Sticky Broccoli Automatic (Zamnesia) Grow Type: Indoor tent (Mars Hydro) Medium: Recycled living soil with mulch, rocks and organic debris Light: Mars Hydro LED, 18/6 schedule Environment: Day 25–27°C, night 23–24°C, RH ~53% Watering: Alternating top watering and bottom tray method Nutrients/Amendments: Only Biogold humic liquid (no bloom nutrients introduced yet) Height: ~25cm Training: Further LST adjustments – branches tied down more to maintain even canopy and control vertical stretch Companion: “Climber Joe” pruned back to prevent shading Observations: Week 1 of flowering is officially underway. The plant showed a moderate stretch of about 10 cm. Pistils are developing nicely at the nodes and tops, confirming healthy female transition. LST was adjusted further this week to keep the canopy wide and even. Some natural yellowing on the oldest lower fan leaves is visible (typical nitrogen drawdown during early flower/stretch), but new growth remains vibrant green with no signs of deficiency, burn, or stress. “Climber Joe” continues to grow vigorously and was pruned selectively to keep him from casting shade on the main plant. Airflow and light penetration through the canopy remain good thanks to the training. She’s making the canopy great again with that controlled stretch and bushier structure. No nutrients or bloom amendments added yet - sticking with humic liquid only while the living soil supports her through the transition. Excited to see how the buds develop over the next weeks. Big thanks to Zamnesia and Plagron for the Eternity Grow Cup 2026. #EternityGrowCup2026 #StickyBroccoliAutomatic #Zamnesia #Plagron #LivingSoil #LST

MGGrowRoom Week 2 Flowering - Sticky Broccoli Automatic Strain: Sticky Broccoli Automatic (Zamnesia) Grow Type: Indoor tent (Mars Hydro) Medium: Recycled living soil with mulch, rocks and organic debris Light: Mars Hydro LED, 18/6 schedule Environment: Day 25–27°C, night 23–24°C, RH ~53% Watering: 1.5–2 L every ~3 days (alternating top + bottom tray) Nutrients/Amendments: Started Plagron Green Sensation (~1–2 ml per 1 L water) Continued Biogold humic liquid Added home-depot nitrogen-rich tomato amendment at the end of the week to address yellowing Height: Additional ~5 cm stretch this week Training: LST maintained with minor adjustments Companion: “Climber Joe” kept pruned and trained upward Observations: Week 2 of flowering brought another moderate stretch of about 5 cm. Pistils continue to develop well across the tops and nodes. The plant is filling out nicely thanks to the earlier LST. I began a very light transition into bloom nutrients with Plagron Green Sensation this week (1–2 ml/L), but it looks like I overdid the dose slightly. Toward the end of the week, more yellowing appeared on lower and some middle fan leaves. My assessment is early nitrogen drawdown accelerated by the stretch and the new bloom feed. To correct this, I added a small amount of nitrogen-rich tomato amendment at the end of the week. New growth at the tops remains green and healthy, so I’m hopeful I caught it in time and didn’t ruin the beautiful flower development. Air circulation still feels a bit limited - new fans are on the way. Keeping a close eye on any further stress signals. Humic liquid continues to be added with every other watering to support root and nutrient uptake. She’s got great structure and resin potential, but the yellowing knocked her back a bit this week. Strong recovery expected once the N balance is dialed in and airflow improves. Thanks again to Zamnesia and Plagron for the Eternity Grow Cup 2026. Learning a lot on this run! Just like with every plant we grow. #EternityGrowCup2026 #StickyBroccoliAutomatic #Zamnesia #Plagron #LivingSoil #Autoflower #LST #Learning

MGGrowRoom Week 3 of Flowering Stretch since last update: Minimal, only +2 cm total. Plant has largely finished stretching and is focusing energy on bud development. Height: Stable canopy, LST still holding the structure nicely open. Environment: Day 25–27°C / Night 23–24°C | RH ~50% | 18/6 light schedule Watering: 1.5–2 L every 3 days (top + occasional bottom tray) Medium: Recycled living soil (5–6th run) with rocks + mulch Companion: “Climber Joe” – still pruned aggressively to prevent shading Observations The buds are starting to stack and swell nicely. The trichome-covered calyxes are giving that classic “sticky” look already, with plenty of white pistils still emerging. Some of the larger colas are developing a compact, broccoli-like structure – true to the name. Lower leaves continue to show some yellowing from the earlier nitrogen drawdown during the stretch, but new growth at the tops looks vibrant green. The slight over-application of Plagron Green Sensation in Week 2 is still showing its effects, but the recent amendment (nitrogen boost) seems to be stabilizing things. No new deficiencies popping up this week. Airflow remains adequate but not optimal in the center of the canopy. New fans are on the way to improve circulation and reduce any risk of mold or stagnant air as the buds thicken. The plant overall looks healthy 'ish. Frost is building steadily on the sugar leaves and calyxes. Still rating this one an 8.8/Trump – solid structure from the early LST, good vigor, and the minimal stretch in flower is a pleasant surprise for an auto. The slight N issue and minor crowding prevent a 9+ for now, but we’re trending upward. Actions Taken/Plans for Week 4 Continue light nitrogen top-dress or liquid feed to keep the lower canopy happy without pushing too much veg growth. Pruning on the cucumber vine - it’s starting to wander again. Improve airflow once new fans arrive. Monitor tplants overall health. Overall, a very steady week. No dramatic changes. Learning a lot on this run! Thanks again to Zamnesia and Plagron for the Eternity Grow Cup 2026. #StickyBroccoliAuto #EternityGrowCup2026 #LivingSoil #Zamnesia #Plagron #Learning
