laxx One run ends, another journey begins!
Thanks to my grow bro Kominest (make sure to check him out) I got some beans of Shaman from Dutch Passion which I want to grow for this run.
I already made some strange decisions with this cultivar, as it is an outdoor one which I decide to grow indoor. I will make more of these weird decisions moving forward.
In this grow I primarily want to test how big the stretch of this cultivar is.
Here is the plan:
1. Germinate 2 seeds,
2. Veg them and top them twice (should be around veg week 3 and 4),
3. Mainline them after topping to maintain some structural integrity,
4. flower them out,
5. scrog them to tame the stretch and see how much they stretch.
There is one optional target. Dutch Passion says around 50% of the phenos turn purple, let's see if I have more luck this time :D
If you are as excited as I am with this cultivar make sure to follow me along :))

laxx Week one of veg is finished and the seedlings have been transplanted into bigger pots. They were cozily sitting on their heatmat which is now back under the planting tray. They were mostly getting sprayed with water in the early days and then got increasingly bigger doses of water.
24.02.:
- I watered with 10% of pot volume (the small pots are roughly 200 ml pots) so they got around 20 ml water each
26.02.:
- I increased the dosis to 20% of pot volume so roughly 40 ml of water each
01.03.:
- I repotted the seedlings into 20 l pots including Green House Feeding BioGrow 4.5 g/l, 90g in total per pot and 8 g of TA Silicate (4g/10l is recommended amount) per pot
- I watered them in with 150 ml of water

laxx Second week of veg and the ladies are coming along nicely!
It looks like the one in front fell behind a bit after repotting which probably puts her around 2 days behind the one in the back but they are both vigorous and eager to grow.
I don't really do much except frequent waterings whenever the soil feels dry with increasing water amounts, adjusting the lighting height and intensity week by week and keeping temperature and humidity in check.
It's smooth sailing until they are big enough to be trained which will be decided independently for each plant and starting next week.
02.03:
- raised PPFD to 300 Β΅mol/(mΒ²s)
- limited humidity to 70-65%
06.03.:
- each plant got watered with 200 ml tap water including 0.2 g Bio Enhancer (which corresponds the recommended dosage of 1 g/l)

laxx Hello everyone! π
It's Sunday and this seems to be THE time to update your weekly diaries :D
And of course I won't be missing out!
This week everything went quite smooth despite me realizing my soil is getting way too compact and plants are suffering after watering. To counter that you may see little silly circles of expanded clay pebbles around my plants.
They don't really do anything for the plants but they signal me a rough area where watering isn't really beneficial for the plant. I made some good experiences with this no-water-zone because the plants instantly reacted really good.
I will continue to monitor if this is a long term fix for my bad soil but in the next grow I will definintely prepare my soil better or get some new one. For now I have to deal with the situation as is.
Growth-wise the plants seem to be growing at a different rate. The back plant is considerably faster in growth and after watching and counting I would say the front plant is roughly 4 to 5 days behind.
09.03.:
- increased PPFD to roughly 400 Β΅mol/(mΒ²s)
- limited tent humidity to 65-60%
- watered front plant with 400 ml tap water
- watered back plant with 500 ml tap water
13.03.:
- laid out the no-water-zone expanded clay pebbles
- watered front plant with 400 ml tap water
- watered back plant with 500 ml tap water
15.03.:
- both plants received 1 l tap water

laxx This week training started!
As we can see some plants love it, some don't. But I am determined to train out both plants even if the one in the front doesn't really handle it well. They got a triangular cut, leaving 3 main stems behind to get a truly triangular shape this time. Other than topping and training, they received some Bio Enhancer and frequent waterings.
Training will continue with a second topping once the front plant catches up and until I am satisfied with the shape of these two.
16.03.:
- increased PPFD to roughly 500 Β΅mol/(mΒ²s)
- humidity corridor is set to 60-55% humidity
- topped the plants to roughly the same height and gave them their triangular shape with 3 remaining main branches
19.03.:
- both plants got 1 l of water including 1 g/l Bio Enhancer
22.03.:
- back plant received 1.5 l of water
- front plant received 1 l of water

laxx This week plants had a lot of time to chill and relax after the first topping and got their second topping to close the week out. They are getting trained to get nice and wide according to their condition.
24.03.:
- new watering approach: - watered the top layer with 500 ml water/plant and then filled the plant tray with 2 l of water to take up from the bottom to promote longer roots
26.03.:
- top layer 500 ml water, plant tray 2 l
27.03.:
- second topping and defolitation
28.03.:
- 1 l per plant top layer
- 2 l in plant tray

laxx Tough decisions were made by the end of the week. While preparing for flower I found 3 pollen sacs at the small plant. As she was struggling from the start due to nitrogen toxicity, I decided to cut her down for good.
I will now continue with only one plant. I am optimistic that she will turn out great. She was doing very good from the start. Maybe I can even fill out the tent with only her.
She got the usual flower preparation. Some Bio Bloom and a light defoliation with some branch selections. Then she got watered in.
01.04.:
- 1 l water per plant
- 2 l water into the plant tray
05.04.:
- cut one plant down - they were either a male or hermed due to nitrogen toxicity
- remaining plant got 5 g/l Bio Bloom, 100 g in total
- flipped plant to 12/12
- set PPFD to 700 Β΅mol/(mΒ²s)

laxx This week the plant got flipped into flower. Additionally I installed the netting at the end of the week. The plant seems to be stretching nicely and she is growing in a steady pace. The netting is pretty low so I can train every big branch to get wider and wider and use the stretch to fill out the tent. So far so good.

laxx This week was pretty chill. I trained her a little bit and started to take some nicer pictures with the help of the camera of a friend again. She has now finished her training arc and will enter her bulking phase ππͺ
The plant is stretching into the light which results in the PPFD now being around 900 Β΅mol/(mΒ²s). This is pretty much ideal, even if it weren't the light is running at 100% so I couldn't do anything about it π

laxx This week flowering continued and by the end of the week I lollipopped the plant. She is looking incredible! I selected all branches that are above the netting as they will likely form some nice buds. Everything below has been removed to promote growth in the rest. As far as watering goes, she just gets her regular watering of 2 L every other day and seems to be thriving off of it.

laxx What a pleasant week. There was not really much to do beside frequently watering the plant. She is getting her bloom booster now. She is starting to develop her smell. She started out with a mix of sweet, citric and sour reminding me of the smell of grapefruit. Right now the sweet and citric smells have faded and only a heavy sour smell remained. I like it. I'm impressed how nice and effortless she grows and am excited to see and document how her smell will develop! ππͺ

laxx This week temperatures were a big issue. The rising temperatures due to seasonal changes greatly affected the tent temperature and made it peak at 30Β°C! It has now cooled down with some rain outside but this let the humidity spike. It's a bit of a rollercoaster right now with temperature and humidity but the plant does not seem to be affected by it. She is growing and forming long and big flowers :)

laxx This week was mainly smooth sailing. The temperatures outside cooled off a bit which lead to cooler over all temps in the tent. I mainly focused on documenting the evolution of the smell of the plant which was amazing to witness. She has now stabilized her profile and is bulking up over the next weeks. I estimate she will finish after week 10 or 11 of flower but we will see.

laxx I am getting anxious. This week temperature and humidity rollercoasted again and its just no fun hitting 70% humidity or more than 27Β° in the tent.
In other news the front bud started to fade which might be indicative of mold. Regardless she is smelling wonderful and if she is not molding her buds will be delightful.

laxx I have entered a battlefield this week and the fight is hard and losses are high!
The ongoing rollercoasting of the outside humidity has brought its sacrifices. After 3 weeks the first bud rot was visible (first up close cola picture of last week). In the same evening I decided to cut my losses and toss the whole cola into the trash. Hard but I rather have at least something than nothing. Furthermore 2 other big colas started to show signs this week. I was sensibilized by the symptoms by now and acted immediately. They were emergency harvested and are drying in an extra box as of now. I cut out generous pieces around the molding site to prevent further spreading. So far it has worked out.
And as if this wasn't enough of a situation I also found some early seed formations probably from the nanners I found last week. At least these were the only ones so far.
I can emergency harvest the plant any day now but I would like to have her stay for at least one more week and this is what I will do for now.
25.05.:
- removed top-cola due to bud rot
- watered 2.2 L including 2 ml Green Sensation
27.05.:
- watered 2 L without nutrients from now on only for the end of the ripening stage and some fading
29.05.:
- emergency harvested 2 top-colas due to bud rot forming under the main flower sites
- watered 2 L
31.05.:
- watered 2 L

laxx This week the mold only returned in a place where I previously hesitated to cut thoroughly due to it being my first time ever having to handle it. This time there was no hesitation. Only big cuts to ensure the safety of the other colas. With the parameters under control and this little bit of mold resurfacing everything else was running smoothly.
The flowers are at around 50% clear and 50% milky currently and I decided to at least bring the whole flowering stage until the end of week 10 maybe even week 11.
Growing in the summer months is definitely a harder endevour for me as the sun shines right into where I grow and I can't do anything about it except not growing when it's so warm and sunny outside.
That is one big learning already for this time :D
02.06.:

03.06.:
- mold resurfaced in the first spot it started and I cut down good amounts of plant this time to ensure no further flare ups

@UnorthadoxDude, thank you for your advice and your wishes :)
I'd say as long as they don't tip over everything should be fine. They got their silicates and maybe their legginess helps to create more robust stems :D
@Growfather1, Iβm already mentally done with this grow. Everything going further is more like an experiment to see how things will turn out and what outcome there will be :D
