Mimi420 Hello grow fam, I am coming back a bit later than planned because some things came up in between and I had to do an upgrade on the box first. I installed a Prima Klima active filter and added a Spider Farmer heater, so the climate should be much more under control now. This run I will be using just one light instead of two like before. I have started the seeds using the wet paper towel method. The lineup is: Barney’s Farm LSD, Barney’s Farm Peyote Cookies, Paradise Seeds Nebula, Paradise Seeds Caramba, Sweet Seeds Red Mandarine, and Humboldt Seeds Black D.O.G. The plan is to run SCROG again with 6 plants. Since some of the seeds are older, I put 10 seeds to germinate. In the first stage, everything that pops will go into small pots and stay in the box. When I transplant into the final pots, I will pick the 6 strongest and nicest plants. The rest will go into a guerrilla grow out in nature, and at the end of the year we will see what they managed to do. If something comes of it, even better. If not, no stress. Let’s go 🔥

Quick question: how long can old seeds take to germinate? Using paper towel method at 25°C, now day 10. Paradise Seeds popped in 3 days (now 6 days under light, doing great). Others show no signs. Red Mandarine 3–4y, rest 8–10y. Still hope or done?

Ouch, 10 days is definitely pushing it, even for old seeds. With those 8-10 year old beans, the shell can get super hard and tough for the embryo to break through. Since you're already at day 10, honestly, the chances are slim, but if you really want to save them, you could try a "hail mary" move: give them a very gentle scuffing with some sandpaper or carefully crack the edge with a tweezer (scuffing is safer!). Sometimes that helps the water finally get inside. The Red Mandarine (3-4y) should have popped by now at 25°C. If they haven't turned mushy yet, there’s a tiny bit of hope, but I wouldn't bank on it. Usually, if nothing happens after 14 days, they're unfortunately duds. Finger crossed that one of them still surprises you! **Happy Growing Growmie 🌱**

Mimi420 Day 13 from germination. Fresh seeds from Paradise Seeds popped in 3–4 days and have been under the light since day 5. They’re looking healthy and growing nicely so far – big respect for the fast and strong germination. Unfortunately, the older seeds didn’t make it. I’ll give them until tomorrow, but if nothing happens, I’ll toss them. Running around 25°C with RH closer to ~55–60%, so conditions are getting into a better range now. Watering lightly around the seedlings in 1.4L pots to avoid overwatering. Still planning a SCROG with 6 plants. Thinking about adding 1–3 clones to fill the canopy if needed. Let’s see how it goes 🔥

Quick question: only 3 plants for 120x80 seems too little. For SCROG, would you add 1 or 3 clones? And when is best to bring them in? I have older seeds but feel they’d be too late if I start now. Thanks for any advice 🙏

Do not add more plants at this stage. Three plants are already enough for a 120 by 80 scrog setup if you train them properly. Scrog is about filling the canopy evenly, not about having many plants. Adding clones now will create an uneven canopy because they will be smaller and slower than your current plants. This makes training more difficult and reduces efficiency. It is always best to start all plants at the same time. Instead, focus on maximizing your three plants. Let them veg longer and train them by topping and spreading the branches across the screen. Flip to flower when the screen is about seventy to eighty percent full, as the stretch will fill the rest. Starting seeds now would be too late for this run, so it is better to save them for your next grow. 💚💚

Mimi420 Weekly grow update: The girls are now 2 weeks under the light and they are showing really nice, healthy growth. I decided not to bring in any clones, so I’ll be running these 3 plants all the way to the finish. Because of that, I’m going to train them a bit more aggressively and let them veg a little longer to really fill the space properly. Next week I’ll be transplanting them into their final 20L grow bags, since I’ve already spotted the first roots coming through the bottom. So far, this LED has been doing a great job in veg — the plants are staying compact, strong, and tight with no stretch at all. I’ve also started feeding them lightly, and they seem to be responding well. Overall they’re looking clean, vigorous, and on point. Let’s see how they keep pushing once they get into the big pots and the training really kicks in.

Mimi420 Weekly grow update: The girls are now 22 days from light and have been transplanted into their final 20L smart pots. I added Big Plant to the soil together with Organic Nutrients mycorrhiza to give the root zone a good boost. They do look a bit sad right now, but that is mostly because I was one day late with the transplant and they got pretty dry before going into the big pots. I’m hoping they bounce back quickly over the next few days. Once they recover, I’ll start topping and training them to open up the canopy and get them ready for SCROG. Let’s see how they respond now that they are in their final home 🔥

Mimi420 This past week was a major turning point for the girls. After the rough transplant stress and dehydration, they finally bounced back and are now showing strong, vigorous vegetative growth. The transplant into final 20L smart pots together with Big Plant, mycorrhizae and a drainage layer of clay pebbles seems to have kickstarted the root zone really nicely. The girls were topped this week and handled it surprisingly well. New tops already started pushing hard and side branching is waking up fast. Bio Heaven definitely seems to help with recovery and overall vigor — new growth is looking healthier, greener and more explosive every day. The LED is performing beautifully so far. Internodal spacing stays super tight and the plants are stacking very compact and bushy, exactly what I want for the upcoming SCROG run. Structure is looking ideal for training: low profile growth, dense branching, tight node spacing, nice lateral expansion starting. Next phase now is: spreading the branches outward, starting LST, opening up the center, preparing for the screen. Currently watering every 3–4 days with around 2L of nutrient solution per pot. The smart pots are drying back nicely and the medium still feels airy and healthy. Lower yellowing leaves are still showing some leftover damage from the earlier stress period, but the important thing is that all fresh growth looks healthy and active now, so I’m not worried about it anymore.

Mimi420 Day 38 from seed The girls are getting a solid LST workout — I’ve been pulling the branches out to the sides and opening up the middle to keep the canopy nice and even. It’s been a week since the first tie-down, and today I reworked them again to keep everything spread and low. Next week I’ll be dropping in the SCROG screen. I also cleaned up a bit of the growth around the main stem to improve airflow and light penetration. On Nebula #1 I accidentally snapped a branch pretty hard, but I lined it back up and wrapped it with duct tape, so we’ll see if she knits back together. At this point they’re looking nice and compact under the LED, stacking tight with short internodes and a lot of lateral growth. I’m thinking they’ll be ready to flip in another week or two, once the screen is set and the canopy is filled out a bit more.

Mimi420 Day 48 Update 🌱 The canopy is finally coming together. This week I removed the training ties and installed the net, then spent some time opening up the middle of the plants for better airflow and light penetration. Did a light cleanup underneath and removed a few crowded leaves to keep things tidy. The plants responded well and are looking healthy, bushy, and vigorous. Internode spacing remains tight and the canopy is becoming more even across the whole area. New growth is coming in strong and the side branches are pushing nicely. Feeding and watering have been consistent, and the plants seem happy with the current routine. The goal for next week is to continue canopy management, keep everything level, and let the screen fill in further. Overall, I'm happy with the progress. The garden is looking lush, the structure is improving every day, and everything appears to be moving in the right direction. 🌿💪

Mimi420 Day 51 from seed 🌱 The girls are getting really close to flip time now. The canopy is spreading nicely across the screen and the SCROG is starting to do its job. Over the last few days I've been tucking tops under the net and guiding branches into empty squares to create an even canopy before flowering. I’m still feeding according to schedule with Bio-Grow and Bio-Heaven. The plants are drinking around 2.5-3L every 3-4 days. Current routine is two feedings with nutrients followed by one watering with plain water. They seem happy with the program and are showing strong, vigorous growth. This week was mostly about canopy management. The screen is filling up fast and I think I'm only a few days away from flipping to 12/12. Before the switch I'll do a final cleanup underneath the net, removing weak lower growth and anything that won't make it to the canopy. Better airflow, better light penetration and more energy directed to the tops. The structure is looking solid. The plants recovered well from all the LST and are pushing healthy new growth everywhere. One branch that was accidentally snapped earlier has been repaired and is still hanging in there like a champ. Cannabis never stops impressing me with how resilient it can be. The goal for the next week is simple: keep tucking, finish filling the screen, clean up the undercarriage and then unleash the stretch. Flower season is right around the corner. 🔥🌿
