Eigentlich sollte es erst in 3 Wochen wieder weitergehen, aber durch einen kleinen Fehler bei der Bestellung ist der Steckling nun halt etwas früher am Start gewesen.
Geplant war dieser Strain für meinen nächsten Grow eigentlich nicht, da war die Lemon Z von Dutch Passion mein nächstes Ziel. Die Seeds müssen jetzt erstmal warten, bei der Sorte konnte ich nicht nein sagen.
Ich glaube zum selber Strain muss gar nicht mehr viel gesagt werden oder?
Ich erwarte einen anstrengenden Strain der mich den ein oder anderen Nerv kosten wird aber mich am Ende hoffentlich mit einer Terpenbombe belohnt.
Der Steckling wurde Sonntag verpackt und ist Dienstag bei mir angekommen, generell macht der Stecki auf mich einen sehr vitalen Eindruck und auch das Einpflanzen in den kleinen Topf hat ihm nichts ausgemacht. Direkt danach hatte sich der Stecki wieder ganz aufgerichtet und die Blätter hängten auch nicht mehr leicht. Nun hat der Stecki für die ersten Tage eine Plastikhaube auf und wird dann an langsam akklimatisiert. Bei diesem Grow versuche ich zu Beginn etwas auf die Bremse zu drücken da ich noch zeitgleich 2 Seeds keimen habe (mehr dazu in einem separaten Dairy) die den Stecki nun noch Einholen müssen, mal sehen wie das läuft.

The Zkittles cuttings handled the transport and repotting without any issues, which to me is a sign of a very healthy cutting. The leaves got a little lighter in color during the first two days, but now all the shoots are sprouting again with a nice green hue, and you can tell that growth is slowly but surely picking up speed. Structurally, the cut seems very delicate and open, which is exactly what I expected from this cut.
Temperatures have been in the perfect range so far at 22–25 °C, but the relative humidity is letting me down a bit—I usually struggle with levels that tend to be too high, but thanks to the dry and warm spring, I’m experiencing the opposite this time and rarely go above 50% at the moment.

The Zkittlez has now acclimated very well to its new environment and is growing nicely, which is also evident in its noticeably greener leaves. At first, it was a bit spindly because I didn’t want to give it too much light due to the two seedlings, but now the internode spacing is getting shorter, and I’ve already trained the main shoot with LST and will possibly top it later this week. I’ve also already repotted the Zkittlez from a very small pot into a slightly larger one; it’s actually ready for its 3.5-liter pot, but I still need to hold off a bit so the seedlings have a chance to catch up. So far I didn't run into any major problems.

The Zkittlez has really taken off in its 3rd week of veg, the leaves look very vibrant with a nice deep green color. I'm currently watering about 300-400ml every 2 days, but it's almost every day now. I should have transplanted it last week to give the roots more space to develop, but since I need to intentionally slow down the growth, the Zkittlez will stay in its small pot until Sunday. Halfway through the 3rd week of veg, I continued training all the shoots with clips. I also trimmed all the shoot tips to encourage the side branches and at the same time slow down the growth. The plant has handled both well. It's becoming clear why this strain is considered a diva; the shoots have large internode distances and relatively little leaf mass. So far, I've avoided any serious issues and hope it stays that way.
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to giving my setup a little update and optimizing the grow and future grows step by step, more on that in about 2 weeks. 😄

The plant is actually ready to flower, but unfortunately it’ll have to wait until next week.
At the start of the fourth week of the vegetative phase, the Zkittlez was transplanted into its 3.5-liter final pot and pinched back on several shoots again to encourage branching and limit vertical growth. Overall, there haven’t been any problems, and so far everything is going quite smoothly. I’m still watering it only every two days with about 1.2 liters. Starting next week, I’ll be happy to let the drip irrigation system take over the watering for me.

The (forced) final veggie week has come and gone without a hitch. The Zkittlez plants are doing really well so far, but it’s already clear that this isn’t going to be a high-yield monster. Wide internode spacing, sparse foliage, and shoots that are thin even for a cutting.
I’ve also set up a SCROG net in the tent to help curb the stretching a bit otherwise, it’ll most likely grow right through the tent ceiling.
Overall, the plants are handling the relatively high EC well, and the only sign of stress I can see is a leaf with very mild light stress (slightly curled tips).
Now I’m really looking forward to the coming weeks and hope the journey will be worth it in the end. All for the terps! 😄🍃

Here comes the next update, a little later than expected. The Z has been flowering since last Monday, so the first week of flowering is already over.
The plant is developing very well; all the leaves have a really nice green color and there are no signs of any defects.
The plant’s structure is already very open, with relatively large internode spacing and little leaf mass. This already indicates that it won’t be a high-yield monster. By topping the cutting multiple times, I’ve created a very uniform structure that has kept height growth well under control so far. During the stretch phase, the Z will continue to be lightly scrugged.
Watering is done via drip irrigation three times a day, with one watering including drainage and two as maintenance shots without drainage, to ensure as consistent a supply of water and nutrients as possible. Depending on further growth, the watering cycle can be adjusted further.

The second week of flowering is now over, and we’re on day 15 of flowering. The stretch phase isn’t quite over yet, but it’s slowing down significantly, and the Zkittlez is starting to form flowers—new pistils are appearing every day, and the first trichomes are forming on the small leaves.
In terms of growth, the Z really isn’t a powerhouse compared to its neighbor; the internode spacing is large, and the shoots remain relatively weak and thin. At least the stretch phase went well and has remained well under control so far. We’ve also stopped scrugging the shoots for the past two days.
This weekend, we’ll be lollipopping the plants, and the Intercanopy lights will be added as supplemental lighting.

We’re now on the 21st day of flowering, which marks the end of the third week of flowering. The stretching phase is completely over, and the plant is clearly focusing on flower development; many white pistils are sprouting from the newly formed flower clusters. Contrary to my expectations, all the flowers are covered in trichomes, and the first sweet terpenes are in the air. I’m really looking forward to this strain!
So far, there are no signs of stress or other deficiencies, and the leaves are a rich green.
Due to its structure, the plant needs a little support; the shoots remain relatively thin even for a cutting and will appreciate some support by the time flowering begins at the latest.

As of today, the fourth week of flowering is officially over.
Flowering is in full swing, and the small but very compact buds are slowly but surely piling up more and more. The terpenes are clearly leaning toward pure candy, though it feels like the nuances in the terpene profile are still changing every day.
After lollipopping, the structure remains open; not many new leaves have formed, making further defoliation in the coming weeks rather unlikely. Above all, I don’t want to stress the plant any further, as it’s said to be prone to feminization and generally difficult to cultivate. So far, I can’t confirm that, not a single deficiency, no signs of major stress, and everything else is going really well. Still, I see enough reasons why the yield probably won’t be all that great in the end: an open structure, small leaves, thin stems, etc. I’m not growing this strain or any strain, terpenes are what matter most!

With the 5th week of flowering, hopefully the hottest week of the grow is coming to an end and the temperatures in the tent will start to drop again. At times, it was just under 33 °C in the tent while it was 37 °C outside. As you’d expect, the high temperatures were accompanied by high humidity, which sent the VPD soaring to unprecedented levels. Maybe it’s finally time to invest in a decent dehumidifier, something I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for a 60x60 setup but moisture builds up at this location anyway, so the problem can’t be solved by adjusting the ventilation alone.
Let’s talk about the Zkittles, the buds are developing really nicely, and after all those purple strains, I’m finally looking forward to green flowers again. The individual flowers are covered in trichomes, and the sweet candy scent is definitely there, though it’s accompanied by another note that I can’t quite pinpoint yet. Overall, the scent and terpene profile aren’t fully developed yet, and there’s still a lot going on.
Other than that, there isn’t really much else to report.

The 6th week of flowering ended on Tuesday, and we’re now in the final stretch of flowering. The terpene profile is exploding, and I’m really excited about the Grapefruit Candy scent which is gradually becoming more and more pronounced, rounded out by an earthy note. I’m really curious to see how it turns out after drying and curing. The small, rock-hard buds covered in trichomes make me want to grow more of it even if this won’t be a high-yielding monster. I’m more than satisfied, and I’m considering whether to use the cutting from my windowsill for my next grow or if I’d rather put one or two new strains in the tent, since it was actually supposed to be the Lemon Z’s turn along with a strain from Dope Seeds.
So far, this grow has actually been one of the most relaxed ones I’ve had—and I’d be happy if it stays that way.

It's now the 57th day of flowering, and that means the 8th week of bloom is over. The Zkittlez is definitely in its last 1 to 2 weeks, the buds are getting firmer and firmer while the trichomes are turning milky one after another, but I haven't spotted any amber yet. I'm gradually lowering the EC to around 1.2-1.4, while it's currently still at 2.0. Additionally, I've increased the amount of calcium while simultaneously removing some nitrogen from the nutrient solution.
The scent profile is definitely candy, grapefruit mixed with a bit of earthy and a gassy note that I didn't expect. I'm curious to see how the smell and taste will develop from harvest to vape, and whether more candy will come out of the buds during curing.
Meanwhile, some individual leaves are showing slight signs of nutrient imbalance, but I'm not quite sure what the exact cause is. I think it might be a bit too little P in the nutrient solution, or perhaps the drainage hasn't been sufficient, and a flush could solve the problem. I don't think it will be a big issue in the last 1-2 weeks, though.

The 9th week of flowering is over, and the Zkittlez is still performing really well for me. All the trichomes are now milky, and it could be harvested already. Due to timing and to give the other strain a few more days, it will probably be ready next weekend.
The smell and terpene profile haven't changed much, and it still has a candy profile with earthy grapefruit and a slight gas undertone. I'm especially curious to see how the profile changes once the buds are harvested and cured.

@Momentum, sooner or later I'll also have Fastbuds in the tent. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to cut a standing one, and maybe there will be a Z Grow again, but we'll see. I have so many strains I want to grow, and new ones keep coming in. 😂
