26 Purple Ghost Candy

Northern_Ent May 2 Day 1: so excited for the Purple Ghost Candy. i love OG strains and i had a Candyland purple pheno a few years ago that was one of my all time favourites. Fingers crossed. May 6 Day 5: looking good. Added soil to support leggy seedlings. On heat mat under cover.

Northern_Ent May 10 Day 9: seems okay. Other seedling collapsed a few days ago so glad I started two seeds. Raised soil level in peat pot after pic. May 13 Day 12: looks good. Nice weather and had the plants out in a small greenhouse in the afternoon to start hardening them off.

Northern_Ent May 16 Day 15: doing fine while waiting for the weather to improve.

Northern_Ent May 23 Day 22: PGC is the biggest seedling so far and is looking great. Transplant day. Soluble seaweed extract at half strength used to water. May 26 Day 25: did a lazy compost tea which is normal compost tea done for a short time without a bubbler, and 24 h incubation max. If you leave it too long it will go anaerobic and get stinky. Five gallon was spread around whole yard. May 27 Day 25: foliar spray of Extreme Blend this morning after a few days in the grow bag. Looks like she is growing quickly now.

Northern_Ent May 30 Day 29: slow start to the nice weather this year but this plant is doing fine. Now entering the fast vegetative growth stage. Almost at fifth node and will soon be ready for the first topping. May 31: rain day and will continue for another two days. June 2: this should be the last rain day . June 3: foliar spray of Extreme Blend. June 4: weather is still cool and overcast. June 5: has reached fifth node so first topping down to third node to start the manifold.

Northern_Ent June 6 Day 36: topped and plucked yesterday as the first step in manifolding. Looking good after a week of rain, cool temperatures and overcast. First plant of my four to be ready for topping this year. june 7: light watering with compost tea I started yesterday. Mixed 50:50 with water as the tea seemed a bit too acidic being in the low 5s indicating organic acids (good) but that pH is too low. June 12: did a foliar spray of Extreme Blend with a drop of Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap to lower the surface tension of the water. Most organic soap would work bit this one is nice and seems to keep bugs down due to the smell.

Northern_Ent June 13: cool and rainy spring but PGC is ready for fast growth with warmer temperatures and long sunlight hours near the solstice. June 18: still lots of rain so I did another foliar spray of Extreme Blend. I don’t know what all is this stuff but it is pretty great and not at the usual cannabis nutrients ripoff pricing. She is the biggest plant of the four so far and likely to hold the lead. Fast growth starting and she’ll be ready for the next round of manifolding in a day or two.

Northern_Ent June 20: rain again for a couple more days. She is behind schedule due to weather but it will be fine. We’re in good shape for the day before the start of summer. June 21: she’s ready for the next round of topping for the manifold, but I’m waiting for the rain the ease up first. A bit over 100 mm this week so I have not been doing any watering. June 23: record rain for month of June so haven’t watered in over a week. Foliar spray with Extreme Blend and potassium silicate. Did second round of topping for the manifold and added a Scrog net to hold it open to the sun. Also removed two inner fans that shade the growth tips.

Northern_Ent June 28: now the rainiest June on record here. Plants are healthy but behind schedule due to the weather. I haven’t really watered in weeks. Tomorrow everybody will get some nutrients as a foliar spray. July 1: Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 Started another compost tea this morning. June was wettest ever (260 mm) and about three times the rain we normally get. Anyway, haven’t had much chance with water based nutrients so I’ve been doing foliar sprays instead. July 2: compost tea this morning and decently warm and sunny all day. Big vegetative growth day which is good cuz there’s only 2-3 weeks until I have to start force flowering.

Northern_Ent July 4: new week and Purple Ghost Candy is still in front of the four plants. Topped again to create a minimum of 16 colas and it looks like more will be viable. Should be good. Plant has some deficiencies going so I did a foliar spray to get the nutes in there quickly. Also growing fast now at 24 inches. July 8: still growing fast. I have been raising and adjusting the scrog net almost daily to maximize light to the growth tips without removing too many fan leaves - just tucking them out of the way. Still get the solar power to the plant but without so much shade on the growth tips. Fingers crossed. July 9: adjusted scrog net - looks promising. July 10: new growth was a bit yellow so I did a foliar spray of Epsom salts and potassium silicate.

Northern_Ent July 11: hail storm went through this afternoon and did some damage. Happened very fast, and was the next day after a big storm caused some flooding in the city and made the news. July 15: after a few days of recovery since the hail storm, I removed more of the damaged fan leaves. July 16: it looks like she’ll be fine after the hail storm.

Northern_Ent July 18: Plants are recovering from hail damage 7 days ago. Weather is good now but it’s fairly hot reaching 30 C the last couple days and about 21 C overnight which is quite warm for Edmonton. Starting force flowering tonight. That is 10 h darkness plus 2 h virtual darkness using 730 nm far red light at dusk to initiate dark mode. In garage at 9 pm, few seconds of 730 nm far red and then out of garage at 7 am. 12 h darkness within the ‘26 h day’. Your mileage will vary at different latitudes but that timing works for me here at 53 N. July 22: force flowering seems to be agreeing with her. Still stretching and looking pretty good despite the hail damage. Started use of Plagron Power Buds and I still need to get malted barley to use as a top dressing. July 23: grew 6” in 5 days. Hot again so watering more often. Spraying side of wagon and growbags during direct sunlight to help cool it a bit due to evaporative cooling.

Northern_Ent July 25: mostly recovered from the hail storm two weeks ago. Now one week into force flowering and she is stretching. Looks realyy good.
