Big fan leaves keep growing!
This plant is loving the conditions. Started utilizing the Vapor Pressure Deficit Chart to get temp + humidity levels into the ideal range. Check it out!
Big week! Finally got this lady into the flower tent. She is about 12 weeks total at flip. Went with a 10 gallon square fiber pot for this one the rest of the way. Sticking with the Mars Hydro
600 W LED. Really superb results last round.
New tent though. I went with a 36” x 36” x 72” for more height and to see if it will increase yields. Here we go!
This plant is not happy at the moment. Lights were too close for a week and top leaves are curling. I put the trellis in this week. So she’s a little stressed as she is starting to pop buds. When she got replanted in the 10 gal, I had to use a soil pre mixed with 30% coco and I’m having difficulties keeping that together with the 3 gallon root ball in soil. I may work some more lite mix in this weekend. This beauty is filling out the 36” x 36” tent.
This lady has some twisted leaves in the canopy and is turning red on the top stems.
Not sure wha that’s all about. I added some soil to better cover the top of the trot system. Small buds are starting to show.
Regular feeding sched. No nute burn on this big plant. The canopy is starting to fill in nicely.
Trichomes are starting to line the sugar leaves and this beauty smells like true indica. Smell of fresh dirt and moss.
I took off some fan leaves this week to give the lower level more light. The canopy is developing nicely. She has almost filled this 32” x 32” tent.
Trichomes are starting to plum and some are turning cloudy already. This plant is sticky and smells like pure earth. Dirt and moss. The indica is showing through in this pheno.
This plant is amazing. The buds are getting plump and dense and covered with trichomes. The sticky, dank buds smell of gas and fresh earth. I think Gelato is my new favorite strain!
Some trichomes are turning cloudy and this plant has just a few weeks left til chop down.
The purple is really coming out in these buds. Another smooth week for this plant. A few leaves across the plant are showing signs of nute burn. I continued to go heavy on the CalMag +, but dropped the Bio Grow from the mix as the flush will begin this week.
This plant doesn’t need anymore nitrogen, but the added phosphorus in the HP2 has really made a difference. Buds are bulking up and still shooting white hairs. Most hairs are turning a beautiful copper against the dark, crystal laden buds. Most trichomes are ripening and cloudy with only a small percentage that have turned amber.
I am going to push this plant as far as she will go as this weekend will be 56 days in flower and I expect to flush for 2 weeks.
Last feeding with just HP2. Tomorrow starts a 2 week flush. The test nugget picked today. I took a lower nug that still not quite mature. Mostly cloudy trichomes. Strong smell in this plant. Funky. Earthy. Trichomes are mostly cloudy with No amber yet. So, it’ll go the full 2 weeks for the flush then 2 days in the dark before chop chop. Some leaves tips are getting crispy after a few aggressive weeks of feeding. This plant took it all in. No serious signs of burn. I’m gonna push this one as far as she will go. I want at least 10% amber trichomes before this one comes down.
40 hours of darkness before the chop. Lots of purple on the canopy and bright green underneath. Solid, big buds. I can’t believe the results on this. The flavor is intense and exactly what I was looking for. It’s funky and skunky. The genetics in these seeds are top of the line. Yield, taste, high. It’s all there. I can’t wait to pop another of these seeds!
UPDATE: DRYING and CURING
I attempted something different this round with excellent results. Instead of drying until all stems break with a snap, I only dried until the first (small) stem snapped. The tent was 66F and had a 6” carbon filter exhaust, so it had plenty of airflow and a stable temp with relative humidity at 45%. Because the art of curing is pulling out the last bit of moisture slowly and evenly allowing the compounds in the plant to break down and create a smooth smoke. After 5 days of drying, it went into jars and were burped 2-3 times daily. After 2 weeks of curing, these buds are sticky, gooey and stinky, like nothing I have ever grown before. I feel like my process has improved with this round and will try to repeat it the next time.
Happy growing!
2 weeks into cure and these Gelato nugs are dank. Goooey. Skunky. The crystal laced buds break up into purple and green with copper hairs and the taste is smooth, sweet and flavorful.
