Planted this beautiful girl about an hour before the Eclipse. I'm still waiting on FastBuds unreleased strains to come in, fingers crossed. I have air pots already setup for them. She was planted in fox farms ocean forest, froggy frog, and coco choir in a 2:1:1 ratio. I hope she comes out as amazing as the first Blackberry I grew!
Day 1 above ground: August 23rd.
I like to stretch them early to allow for more room for watering since I like to bush them out. Stretching them early allows for a long strong stem and hopefully sets the precedent for future growth rate.
Stretched them out s littlllllle too much haha forgot my light was in 50%. No harm no fail. I'll take better pics once they've got their legs
She's doing well thus far and she's getting ready to explode in growth, I can feel it. I started a light feed early in the week with Fox Farm's nutrients and they've taken well to it. Their stems have thickened (appositional growth) well enough to stand on their own with the incorporation of an oscillating fan. I'm going to try to incorporate some Real Growers Recharge on Thursday to advance the microbiology of the soil. Food for her soul.
Wow this girl is taking off just like last time. She's starting to get a bit of a weedy smell but nothing requiring filters. She's got some nice side branching too without any LST or ponytailing. Gonna increase the feed a bit as long as I can keep the pH up. Fox Farm Big Bloom although organic really shoots the pH down. I would like to move her farther from the light source but then I'd have to find a platform for the other girls.
This plant is on the move just like last time. She looks impeccable and her canopy is about to become a super dense photosynthesis machine for her future buds. The tiniest signs of pre-flower starting so I gave both the Blackberry and LSD a tad of Tiger Bloom to ease them into pre-flower. My goal is to get night temps close to 65 to increase the potentiality of purples. I hope she keeps on doing her thang. She's a sexy beast. I tied her down on 9/14 when she hit 16 inches.
She grew 7.5 inches this week and is branching out well. Even her side branches have side branches. There are no signs of purple/ lilac colors but in trying to promote them epigenetically. I've been bringing her down the basement during her dark hours where it's a cool mid to lower 60s. Last time I grew her was in the midst of winter and had no problem bringing the temps down in the room. I've been spraying her with cold unchlorinated ice water too to try and bring out her colors. My next move is to remove the nitrogen base Fox farms Grow Big nutrients but keep the tiger Bloom and big Bloom. Just some fun experiments to see if I can trigger some colors. Otherwise she's killing it like always.
I think the experiments with epigenetics triggers is going well, I'm finally starting to see some pink/purple in there. I tried to take a lot of bud shots to capture those hues. So she's been exposed to colder temperatures than the other girls, sprayed with unchlorinated ice water, and I removed the Fox Farm Grow Big to cut her nitrogen. Not much of smell yet to her, just a light funk. None of these girls require carbon filters so far if you're trying to go super stealthy.
She's putting on mad weight and is crystallizing like crazy. She whites out every photo unless I edit the light down a bit. Much different pheno than my first Blackberry. Her buds look much more solid and compact. She's mostly green with a shot of pink in there. She's also much stinkier than the first Blackberry, a lot of funk to her still. I'm curious if the funk will fade with progression or with a long cure. I stopped the cold spraying this week due to the size of her buds but also the humidity problems I'm troubleshooting. Humidity here has been in like the 80s with the temps in the low 80s to 70s, the air is real thick but the temps not hot enough to run the AC. I wish I had a dehumidifier.
So yesterday she was flushed for the first time and the temperatures are dropping at the perfect time. Hopefully it'll start to look like fall in the room next week! She's still packing on so I'll say about 1.5 to 2 more weeks for her depending on her trichomes. Only giving water from here on out. Hopefully this stinker gets a little pinker.
I apologize if there's a lot of duplicated photos, I've been having trouble uploading them to the site.
I'm gonna take pictures next Sunday 10/22 but won't be able to upload until 10/25
I feel like I really identify with this strain. This is only the second one I've grown but I can read her well. If you think you've got a green pheno, try dropping your nitrogen and your temps to trigger her genetics (epigenetics) to influence her phenotype. This girl is almost done. She's right on schedule. Her trichomes are about 90% cloudy. I'll let her hit up to 20% oxidized. She's fattening up nicely. Her bud structure is much different than the first Blackberry, she's much more solid/ dense.
Harvest Day 70 after a 2 week flush Finished in 48 hour darkness. I don't think the darkness increases production of THC/ trichomes but I do like the idea of letting the plant burn all of its sugars prior to harvest. Sugar is harsh when it burns so we'll have to check back on the smoke report when it's ready. She was a pleasure to grow again. A differently phenotype than her sister. The buds are much more dense and structured. The aroma is very fruity/berry with a sweet earthy funk. A beauty to look at too. Not a single problem throughout. I feel like this strain has always been love at first site.
My apologies on never giving a smoke report. I ran into a situation where I had 2 weeks to move across country. I don't like to include untrue data to my expectation/ perceptions.
I agree with your comments, no smell unless I touch a calyx lower down the stems then I get a hint of chocolates and berries. So the ice cold spray is working then, I can see the hints of purple on yours mine hasn't showed anything might have to follow up with the cold spray :) looking good 👍🏼
@DaGrowQueen, I've grown her once before and she's been by far the tastiest. The high is the best sleep medication at night but also makes you feel like you're glowing in this fall weather on walks
I often check on your last blackberry run to see what to expect for the future, the pheno you had last time was beautiful I hope to get something even close to that. I'm growing this strain too just shy of week 3 looking good so far about on par with your current blackberry grow if you check day for day they look identical. I'm following this diary😃 Grow on fella👍🏼
@PharmaZ, much appreciated brotha. They're quite literally identical and looking strong. To me that shows the quality/ stability of FastBuds blackberry genetics. And yeah that first Blackberry was a stunner and made me fall in love with growing. Best of luck! I'll be following too.

I don’t think it’s enough to notice either but Mark @DinaFemSeeds confirmed here recently they have grown and then tested for essential oil production, with and without extended dark periods, and their findings show a 2.5% increase in oil production on the plants kept dark for 72 hours.
That’s not much, but I’ll take it!
I have yet to test my theory- increase the dark period in increasing increments starting about a week and a half before harvest. So instead of 12/12 it’s 12/16
The next ‘day’ after that is 12/22
Then 12/30
12/44
By harvest the last day will be 12/72.
So many ideas and not enough time to explore them all! And for what anyway? Maybe a few % points. We sure love our hobby, don’t we?
Enjoy your harvest. Those flowers are all pro, sir!
Looking big fella, and the calyx development is beautiful! I will tell you, the couch lock effect is present in my BB and id already harvested at 60 days. Curing her now👍🏼
Time lapse was very cool, waiting eagerly for update fella :) Purley b cause I want to know if yours is purplish mine hasn't shown any signs yet... I've created a week 5 post because I started bloom nutes on her my BB is 31 days old probably same age as yours
@PharmaZ, gracias man. yeah mine will be 35 days old tomorrow. I like to upload when they've reached the end of that week. Mine has not showed any signs of purple yet either. I may try a few tricks to pull the purples out of her epigenetic-ly. I've been moving her just recently to the basement in her dark hours where it's 60ish degrees. When I spray her leaves with unchlorinated water, I make sure it's ice cold. I may even skip a feed or just use Bloom nutes nothing nitrogen based to trigger her too. I'm pulling out all my tricks on her because my firstgrow she was showing purples now, but she flowered in the prime of winter so the night temps would plummet.
