Hexahydrat666 After soaking for 24 hours between two cotton pads in a 0.3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution, the seed shell has cracked and the seed was planted in Plagron seedling soil.

Hexahydrat666 Unfortunately, the seedling came out of the soil with only one cotyledon. Since I wasn't sure if it would survive or if a healthy plant would develop from it, I decided to germinate a second seed just to be safe.

Hexahydrat666 In the meantime, both have moved into larger pots. Plant No. 1, which only had one seed leaf, is also growing quite one-sided, but otherwise looks healthy. No. 2 is growing more evenly and seems better suited for mainlining. At the moment, both are still a bit stressed from being repotted. Let's see which one develops better in the next little while and gets to stay in the tent, and which one moves to the balcony.

Hexahydrat666 With plant number 1, I was already able to start mainlining, but with plant number 2, the shoots are still a bit too short. The light is running at 70%, and I've set the VPD to a max of 1.2.

Hexahydrat666 It's heading towards flowering. Today I trained and defoliated them a bit more. I also removed a few of the lower shoots. After a few days of recovery, I will slowly reduce the light duration and initiate the flowering.

Hexahydrat666 The switch to the 12/12 light cycle has been well tolerated by both of them, and they also made it through my week of vacation. The stretch is quite decent, and as soon as I got home, I lollipopped them both, hoping to slow down the stretch a bit so they don't grow too tall. The light is still running at 80%, and I've set the VPD to a max of 1.4.

Hexahydrat666 Since the distance to the lamp is slowly becoming too small, I guess I have no choice but to move the air filter outside and make a few shorter hangers to hang the lamp higher. Otherwise, everything is going according to plan.

Hexahydrat666 THRIPS:🤬😡🤮. Unfortunately, I noticed the infestation too late, and the plants are already looking pretty rough. So as a first measure, I hung up blue traps and ordered predatory mites. Thank God the first delivery of predatory mites arrived within two days, and now I have to see if the little guys are also working hard and preventing the worst.

Hexahydrat666 Unfortunately, the thrips are still causing trouble. I can't spot any predatory mites on the plants yet, so I opened a packet and scattered them around loosely. Mites are definitely present in abundance, but they somehow don’t want to come out voluntarily. I've also spread the second delivery with a mix of different mite species, one of which even eats the pupating larvae in the soil. Thankfully, the infestation isn't as severe with these two ladies as it is with the other strain that's in the tent. Apparently, thrips also prefer certain plants. To strengthen the leaves a bit more, I've increased the addition of Silic Rock. The lamp is running at 80%, and I've set the VPD to a maximum of 1.4.

Hexahydrat666 The pest infestation has really taken a toll on the plants. For control, I defoliated a bit more to examine the cut leaves closely and couldn't find any thrips larvae, so it seems the predatory mites have done a great job. Nevertheless, there are still signs of feeding and feces on many leaves. The lamp is now running at 100% and I've set the VPD to a maximum of 1.2. Additionally, I've installed a UV/ Far Red lamp that turns on every three hours for 15 minutes. During the next watering, I will add 3g/L of Black Strap molasses.

Hexahydrat666 The thrips are causing trouble again. Despite the predatory mites, the pests are happily frolicking on the plants. The next delivery, a mix package of predatory mites, nematodes, and predatory bugs is on the way, but I'm considering whether it’s worth releasing the little creatures so close to harvest or if I should save them for the next grow. Unlike the other plant in the tent, these two seem to handle the pest infestation better. In any case, the two look healthier, there are significantly fewer feeding marks visible, and there are also significantly fewer thrips to be found on the leaves.

Great strain that handled mainlining well and was less affected by thrips larvae than the other strain that was in the tent. I will definitely grow it more often.

Hexahydrat666 I would have liked to give them a bit more time, but the predatory mites couldn't handle the problem with the thrips larvae. Those little pests threw quite the party in the tent and multiplied rapidly, so I decided to harvest to have enough time to dry and disinfect the tent before the next plants move in. Next grow, I'll pay more attention to the first signs of pest infestation. This was the first time I had thrips larvae in the tent, which is why I didn't spot them right away. I didn't think those little bastards would be so small that I could barely see them with the naked eye, and I should have paid attention to the feeding marks. You just keep learning! 😄

Predatory mites are completely useless. I've ordered them about three times already, and they haven't done a damn thing. It's all a big scam.

@TheVomit, yes, the bags were full of live mites but they all seem to have died very quickly. In any case, I couldn't find a single predatory mite on the plants themselves.
