Welcome to week 6 of my Seedsman Northern Lights Auto and Sweet Basil Grow diary
This plant is impressive I tied all of the branches down with a LST method and the canopy is fairly even I have seen the
very first signs of preflowering So the next update shall probably be the official start to the flowering stage.
Some growers prefer to start counting from the moment they see preflowers or for Photo strains when they flip to 12/12
The breeders don't do this they start counting only when the plant is actually flowering.
This is why a lot of growers say " my plant isn't ready according to the breeders time schedule"
This is usually because they started counting down atleast a week early. Some strains can take 2 weeks to shift into the flowering phase after flipping to 12/12 so you really need to have patience and wait until the pistils are clearly visible
before starting to count down to harvest.
Anyway The plants feeding is the same as last week except for the addition of some Calimagic from General hydroponics. This stuff will ensure I don't run into calcium or magnesium deficiencies during flowering
Simply add 1ml per litre of feeding nutes.
Feeding this week
GT Silica @ 5mls / litre
Professors Nutrients A+B @ 3mls / litre
Calimagic @ 1ml /litre
Seasol @ 0.5mls / litre
PPM 1000 Ph 5.7
Now for the sweet Basil
Absolutely going off!! as you will see in the above pictures I harvested another 4 or 5 cups worth and left aprox 40%
of the plant intact . This will hopefully take off again and I will be able to harvest another lot in 2 weeks
Very easy to look after Does not require a lot of feed or maintenence other than checking the levels of nutrient solution
and the occasional pruning to promote new growth.
Feeding is as follows
Professors nutrients Go Green @ 2mls / litre
Seasol @ 0.5mls / litre
PPM 700 Ph 6.7
I plant to make some infused Basil and garlic Olive Canna Oil
I already made the canna oil with 1 oz of excellent quality trim and popcorn buds from the Royal Dwarf I grew
in another diary.
Well thanks again for stopping by Hope you enjoyed the update See you all Next week ๐
@ROM101, yes I use that one too but as good as it is I just can't bring myself to use it indoors with the hydro
because as you said it does stink like a dead fishes asshole ๐ bit like fresh dynamic lifter on a hot day Nothing Like it ๐๐
@DILLIGAF, they do a power feed as well it comes in a red bottle it's some super potent shit and smells like a dead fishes arsehole but it works amazing on vegies๐๐
@ROM101, thanks mate it tested my patience thats for sure
I think if I wasnt doing a diary on it I would have chopped it awhile back but should end up with something out of it
Hahahaha I saw the cover picture and thought that it looked like basil :P
I've got so much room in my tent (only 1 light right now) and am considering filling it with herbs/veggies.
I didn't even realise this was another one of your diaries! Hahaha happy growing again!
@DILLIGAF, that's quite the difference. I guess that's why the guys I was reading about used marigold, it handles from 6.0-7.5. It probably likes the nutrients more too being a flowering plant.
@Cheezy, I wouldn't plant the basil in with the weed simply because the basil likes a ph of 6.7 - 7.2 and
your weed likes it down around 6.2 -6.5 plus the basil only has fairly low nutrient needs
@DILLIGAF, that's good to know! Our house plants in the living room have attracted so many aphid looking things, thinking about letting loose a bag of ladybugs!
With the basil do you have to plant it in the same container? I've read companion planting marigold in this manner also increases resin production!
I love basil in a fresh eggplant parmesan or even Alfredo .I've only cooked once with weed oil olive in a past was blasted didn't like how strong I had made it lol learned a hard lesson . Anyways the girl looks very healthy in its home there..
