1st Grow: Week 1 self-critique based on what I've learned so far: Transplanted too soon. These plants could still be in solo cups. Also, clearly overwatered.

Before: still in the 2x4 tent, then pissed off plants after the move into the sealed room. Installed light rail light mover till another light can be added next grow. 1st Grow: Week 6 self-critique based on what I've learned so far: Overwatering, and now they need more trimming and training to make sure the lower branches have a chance to catch up to canopy when I scrog later. I'll pay for this later with weaker lower branches that won't reach up into the canopy well enough.

Sex testing returned with only one male. Killed him - pic shows the roots out of the air pot, so I at least have an idea of what the roots on the others look like. 1st Grow: Week 8 self-critique based on what I've learned so far: Letting them veg too long, overwatering. Scrogging too late, not keeping up with training to give weaker branches a better shot.

Built PVC scrog and bent and abused the girls under it. They're pissed on 7/11. A bit happier a few days later. 1st Grow: Week 9 self-critique based on what I've learned so far: Should have cleaned up lower branches better, There's a decent amount there that won't amount to anything. Since I had to kill off one plant, the scrog will never fill out, so I had to set them up as seen here, with the bushiest plant in the middle. Broke a couple tops off forcing them under the scrog because I waited too long to do it. Only using an 8-bulb T5, so ultimately it won't be enough light for an 7x4 scrog to get respectable yield. Looking into acquiring a better light while flowering.

1st Grow: Week 1 Flower self-critique based on what I've learned so far: I've gotten better at determining when to water by bucket weight, but now that it's in a scrog, my most reliable watering indicator isn't as reliable obviously due to the net. Learning in public!! Still working with the 8-bulb T5 as it's all I have at the moment. Will switch to an HLG 550 V2 R-Spec as soon as funding allows. Hoping it will energize my flowering stage if I get it in there early enough.

7/29 New HLG 550 V2 RSpec added. At the end of the first 12-hour lights on period they looked way more tired than usual at that point under the old T5. I'm guessing that's normal given the drastically increased light intensity. I did turn the light down to about 60% to give them a chance to adjust to it. Started it at 24" height per HLG suggestion. Bumped Co2 up to 1000 PPM. 8/1 Still have light at 60%, Will turn it up 10% at a time every couple of days to see how they react in the coming week. Plants have been in these 5g pots since 5/29 with 70/30 mix of Fox Farms Ocean Forest and perlite, so 8 full weeks. Fed very little outside of Cal-Mag (5ml per/g) and vastly reduced (20% of FF suggested, every 2nd or 3rd watering) grow big and big bloom in veg, and a bit of tiger bloom since the switch to flower, since OF is considered a "hot" soil, But now that I'm two months in on this soil mix, I'm having trouble understanding how much nutrients are left in the soil, and how that affects how much I should be feeding now. Suggestions welcome!! Don't want to bomb them with nutes now that they are in flower, but also don't want to starve them when they need it most. Help! Watering approximately every 4 days or so, since that's when the buckets feel pretty light, and is about one day short of where one of the plants wilted (it was nearly bone dry!) from lack of water a couple of weeks ago, so that seems to be the sweet spot for now at this stage.

-Discovered some initial signs of thrip damage, checked a leaf under a scope and did see a couple larvae. As a result, did a major leaf strip (as you can tell from the first overhead picture to the second one) and sprayed with Captain Jack's Dead Bug. Going to order some green lacewings in case the spray and root drench didn't finish the job. Don't really want to spray anything else the rest of flower if I can avoid it. Bud development seems to be moving along, although slowly. I have been hesitant to feed much because of the Ocean Forest soil I'm using, but I'm going to give a heavier than usual feed next time and see how they react. I've kept it very light up to this point, and they now have 1000ppm of Co2 and way more intense light, so I'm assuming they can use the extra food. Just a bit of info on the room setup itself. The canopy space is 4x7'ish. The light is an HLG 550 V2 Rspec on a light rail light mover. Co2 being added via tank with fuzzy logic controller, and a dehumidifier keeping the room in the low to mid 50's. Temps are staying around mid-80's during lights on, and closer 78-80 lights off. UPDATE 8/11 - End of Week 3: So it looks like I screwed up big time! On 8/5 I did the root drench portion of the Capt Jack's Dead Bug treatment, then the spray treatment on 8/6. I had the bright idea that since I'd been fighting a mag def problem for a while, and that Cal-Mag says it can be applied as a foliar feed, that I'd add it to the bug treatment and spray both together. Cal-Mag was also in the root drench at Botanicare's suggested concentration (FOR FOLIAR) of 10ml per gallon. So I both root drenched AND sprayed bug stuff + Cal-Mag at that concentration (I had mixed all of it in one batch like an idiot!) within a day of each other. Plants did NOT like that as you can see from the pictures. Leaves overall got pale, and MANY burned tips and burn spots on the leaves. I'm not sure if this is the end of these plants altogether, or if they can ride this out, but I'm quite sure that I've done permanent damage. For now, I'm just going to continue to water with straight RO water (they got fed bloom nutrients last week) for a few waterings and see if that helps them any. If it looks bad, I'll just cut them down. The biggest mistake I've made so far with this grow was letting them veg way too long. I was holding out for a better flowering light since I didn't have a suitable one when they were ready to switch, so I just waited. Now they are tall enough that they are going to finish too close to my light (HLG suggests minimum of 24" in flower, and the tallest buds are already inside that range), and since this most recent screwup, I'm positive whatever I get will be crap anyway. The other issue is the clones I took will be in the same position while these are still finishing - plants ready to flower but the flower room is occupied. I suppose I could just start them flowering two or three weeks before these finish under the 8-bulb T5 they under right now, then put them under the flower light after I harvest these. That seems a rather bad option, because then instead of one gimpy crop, I'd be starting my second one under less than ideal conditions as well, when I could just accept the loss on the first and give the second a way better chance. What a mess! Good lessons being learned though. Biggest lesson this week was DON'T TRY TO DO TOO MUCH! Fix one thing, then worry about Cal-Mag or whatever else is going on. As much as this is a bummer, I'm glad to be going through this because it'll all just make me better going forward.

Riding this grow out despite the disappointing damage done in W3F. I figure there's still more I can learn from finishing the next 4 weeks and going through a harvest, despite the troubles. There is still significant leaf damage from the spraying incident, newer growth looks better, but the middle plant seems to have taken it harder than the rest. Her leaves are more faded than the others as you can see from the overhead shots. She might just need more than the others because she's the one who needs water at least 12-24 hours before the other 4 do. Room is getting very hot during during the day, low 90's is not uncommon. I'm in SoCal, so the heat has been intense and the dual hose AC I'm using just can't keep up, and the room is sealed, so I can't even cool it by venting at night. Will upgrade the AC once I get my electrical panel upgraded and go with a mini split with good horsepower.

Continuing to see the lightening edges of the leaves, which started occurring after the heavy spraying in W2F. Not sure what this is or if there's any way to recover from it. Buds are still developing, albeit rather slowly. One of the phenos (back left corner) has very tiny flowers, definitely the weakest of the 5. The clones I have running while these flower are from pheno 1 (middle plant), because she grew the most aggressively and was the most branchy in veg. I'm starting to wish I'd kept clones of pheno #3 (front left plant) because she was least affected by my shitty growing and has the best stacking buds of the 5 thus far.

Couldn't control the temp in the garage flower room, so I moved them inside into a 4x4 tent (pics are from just before the move inside) and got a Pulse monitor. Conditions much better now. Learning a lot each week and will apply it to the next grow in the queue.

This is the newest setup in the 4x4 inside. Environment is under control completely now, Trichomes are mostly cloudy now, some amber. Starting flush now. Breeedeer says 63-73 days and I'm right around 60 at the moment (9.17).
