Week 1, concluding the first week of vegetating (germinating): Hi(gh) guys! Back with a brand new project, growing the Larry Bird Kush (aka. Gelato 33) from Zamnesia Seeds on soil. This strain’s history on GD consists of 2 projects by MissJokerSmoker growing one plant, and Stephandjo growing another two plants respectively to nice results, kudos too you both! By the looks of the diaries from both growers, this strain tends to grow long stretchy branches with large internode spacing. I’m going to take it as a challenge to prevent it from stretching too much and keep the internode spacing small. That way the plant will be more efficiently at delivering nutrients to the buds, and grow thicker buds. Previous grows I’d chose to grow following the ‘V8’ topping technique, because both ‘Bruce Banner’ as ‘Honey Cream’ tend to grow more bushy plants. This time I’m going to choose the ‘Candelabrum’, which is more topping-heavy, to redirect the lateral growth into hopefully a nice evenly canopy shaped like a candlestick-holder. I’m going to try to work with the branches growing from 7 fingered fan-leaves. My previous experiences learned me branches from 1, 3 or 5 fingered leave stay too thin, so I’m going to lose these, what means that the plants will end up having probably somewhat longer main stems. At least this time I think it’s not possible to grow an ‘Upperdecker’ grow on top, so the tent is entirely available for the Larry Birds. Last two grows also, the upperdecker’s stayed underneath the blue growing light while the other plants switched to 12/12 standing underneath the flowering light. I first thought staying underneath blue light longer effected the total length of the cycle, but on that I must recur. What I’d find the blue lights do effect is the bud structure and internode spacing, and that’s exactly what I’m going to use this grow to my benefit. Growing the previous ‘Bruce Banner’-strain, won me the ‘diary of the month May’ contest, which included an Green Buzz Liquids Professional starter-kit containing every product in their line of bio-organic nutrients. Although my previous Mills nutrients line also partially uses bio-organic nutrients, I wanted to try a fully bio-organic system for a while. Now I’m happy I can also discover the differences, thanks G.B.L!! Growing bio-organic also means I’d have to use a different kind of soil, since the D.N.A./Mills soil contains mineral nutrients and that destroys the soil-life. Out of three options I’d chose the most cost-effective bio-organic soil from Biobizz, the All-Mix. And a layer of Plagron clay pebbles 8-16mm on the bottom of the pots. Since previous grows I’d had practically no problems germinating the seeds, I’d chose to pop exactly 9 seeds this time for the nine 11L pots. Offcourse one seed didn’t make it, I’d try to save it but R.I.P. (that didn’t work!). Actually, given the topping technique I chose to use for the first time, I think the extra space to the other 8 plants is actually welcome, so I’d chose to go on with 8 plants. Since I’d started to grow back in 2015, I’d wanted to make a data-sheet on which I could write down my findings and help me plan (and not forget!) certain que points during the plants cycle. When I’d started on G.D. I updated the format to the G.D. diary structure, and when I came into contact with Green Buzz Liquids again updated it to their professional growing schedule. Now, I want to share it with you guys. I think it helps keeping overview during the cycle and gives means to look back into history other than the G.D. diaries. I’d actually prefilled allot of thing for this cycle, but I’ll also have a close watch putting them into practice and make changes as I see necessary. There is space to fill-in every day readings, and it helps me great timing my grows and keeping track of everything. This first week of the grow I’ll always talk you guys trough my chosen strategy, and share the preparations (see the photo’s for that). I find it useful to share my knowledge with you guys because without marijuana I myself probably currently wasn’t alive anymore because of my mental illnesses, and I find it important to be available to everyone who needs it. Use it to your advantage, but also please like my diary! I see a lot of people visiting but it seems that pushing that button is a bit of a problem! Please feel free to push like and also follow me during this new project, I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Larry Bird’s progress next week!

The last figure shows the topping plan i'd pick for this round, but i didn't manage to grow my plants this way. Better luck next time! Only now i want to know, can anyone point me to a diary that shows a plant that actually is topped that way? Thank you very much. 😏

well , i would not hold on pictures..... in my opinion growing is to find your own style, and that is wht you did. Never seen plants trained like yours and i works... they show a great shape, have lots of flowers. and growing without issues. Get enough light etc. So i will say ... do your thing. refine your technic . And show us the results in the coming diaries

Who can show me a plant that is topped on three different moments, each time above the previously topped sites?

Check out my gelat.Og grow by seedsman. This is called mainlining or manifolding and it is a process where you top and train 3 times to create 8 main stems growing of a single "manifold".

@Budcrack,i was reading it, and i hope you find it out. My brain works alittle different, so iam not trying to top like this and let her frow in that shape. I think the problem is in the twodimensional painting.. it got to be 3D......i think they let the plant growlike crossesknow what i mean.. one node in direction from east to west, next node from south to north......

@Mrs_Larimar, i think what i really mean is this: those three topping plans of which i'd posted the figures i believe are indeed the baseline idea's of different ways of topping a plant. The other two, the V8 and the Plateau are totally clear, only that Chandelier topping plan doesn't make sense as the figure. I'd see the others on GD, so now i'm really looking for a plant that comes close to the figure, to better understand.

@Fruitgrower: thanks, i watched your proces with the Gelat OG. Could you point me towards someone who is most experienced in this proces? I think your retarding to much considering the state when you flipped 12/12. I would like to see the most efficiënt version of this proces. Thanks for the input bro!

There are a few growers here doing awesome mainlining that's why I wanted to try it out. I can't remember their names though.... @sticky does some. And I think a couple of the master growers have done good ones. This w my first attempt and it spent the first 8 weeks under cfl bulbs(could be why it's squat and dwarf like.

@Fruitgrower, ok, i'll see too it, but given the double vegtime i don't think it's going to work. It's important not to retard to much during veg, or timing it correct if you will. What you did with lollipopping so early threw at least 3 weeks delay. What would happen if you start topping, you now did with 3 weeks, but much later with a higher situated node. If you would let it grow until 5 or 6 weeks, and meanwhile pinch every branch beginning except the top two! All that leaf will grow big and deliver energy to your plant, like it's personal solar-field 😏 Then you start mainlining like you did week 5. The plant will have plenty of energy to grow, and lollipopping at that point, except your fanleafs below offcourse, like you did with your current grow, won't retard so much. Cheers bro!

@Budcrack, I also did something very similar called fluxing (which is when you do it really early and with younger plant). I did this with an auto Ggg1 and it worked great! There is a great tutorial by nugs bucket on grow weed easy, Google it, it helped me alot. But yes it is going to double your veg period.

@Fruitgrower, yeah, i know, but your trying it that's great! But i have to see how an efficiënt grow develops to determine if it fit's my yearly schedule. It's no use if i have to pregrow for more than 10 weeks, but i fear that if you manage to grow a big plant with this technique that it's gonna take a while to do so. My search continues, thanks bro! 👊

Thanky for Update, all plants look very healty at the moment. From now on we look specially forward to see the differents between you Plant B, C, G & H and A, D, E, F with the constantly usage of our new GROWZYME Product.

@GreenBuzzNutrients, P.s. 09-10: Today i'd removed the middle two plants to better compare between them after 2,5 weeks of adding Growzyme to half of the plants, the differences at this point are evident; plants receiving Growzyme bounce back much faster from intervening the growth, also the stems are thicker, more abundant leave growth, thicker buds with much more white hairs, and last but not least more resin production and that’s what where all doing this for, so I’m excited! Great addition to an already great product line. Can’t wait to see the difference in end-weight. Growzyme = good stuff for good stuff ;-)

Budcrackcommented5 years ago
@GreenBuzzNutrients, at this moment the difference is predominantly the smell, much stronger at the Growzyme plants. I'm very curious too! Thanks again!
