I'll keep the set up information going from week to week to hopefully reduce any questions about what is being used, and prevent people from having to scroll through the comments of every week to find what they may want to know. Step Up Info: Tent - 32"x32"x62" VIVOSUN mylar grow tent Light - 75W Rapid LED with a CREE CXB3590 COB Fans - AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S4 for exhaust, 2 Holmes 6" clip fans, one is towards the top shooting down, one is towards the lower-middle for circulation, 1 Honeywell 8" TurbroForce Air fan. Pot - #3 black resin thermoformed pot with an actual capacity of 2.6 gallons Medium - Fox Farm Ocean Forest mixed with more perlite Day 36 - So all the ties and stakes have been removed as of today. There was some slight LST training on several of the branches after the photos were taken and all the ties were removed. I can still shape the upper region of the branches to help give more light below. I am still so impressed with what I'm seeing off of this light. After releasing the ties it became two inches taller and is going to be at the light barrier soon where I'll have to lift it. I'm thinking between 20 and 24 inches tall when all said and done. I could be way off, the branches still have to prepare for the weight they will be holding. Day 37 - No major updates Day 38 - This weeks nutrients were given today. The plant appears to be slowing down/done on the stretch. No big changes from the last few days that I've measured. We will see what happens by weeks end. Day 39/40 - No big updates to report on these two days. You can see the trichomes coming in on the top. I'm waiting for my sinuses to clear up to hopefully smell soon, I imagine she's almost at that point to start generating a smell. Day 41 - I like the spacing I'm getting on the main top, and I'm really surprised at some of the laterals on where they are settling. The tiniest one that was hidden below the broken branch has really pushed itself out to say hey, I'm here. Even if it produces just one flower, it rose up to try and shine. The lateral that was tied with the main cola for the longest is falling behind and one of the front lower laterals is trying to take over as number two. I like the spacing on the main stalk as well, I think it will fill out well. I'll try to post a side by side comparison of the start of the week to the end of the main cola for size comparison for this week. Day 42 - The week ends on a positive note like the other weeks. She is growing nicely and still stretching slightly while putting on the weight. I have a couple laterals that are behind on flowering but it won't impact the end result. I'm very pleased so far. At this rate though, I don't see her being an 8 week grow. I'm going to say 9, maybe 10.

I mean obviously the plant is loving that light! ๐Ÿ‘ I'm really liking it and have been thinking about purchasing one or a couple lol. Do they draw an actual 75 watts from the wall? My blurple pulls 220 with both switches but I just feel like Cree and Samsung diodes are the way to go, I mean look at your plant growth! With nearly a third of the power I'm pulling. A buddy of mine has some hlg and the one thing I wish I would have done is get white lights from the bat. But I was too eager to start my journey haha. Since they're plug and play just buy one at a time and add them as I go? How well do they warm your tent? My blurple will in total raise temp 5-6* degrees F. Just curious about switching!

@NeedsMoreFans, okay thank you! Should be having a harvest update here in a few days. Most of the buds will be put in jars tonight!

@KCChiefers, one thing I would suggest is to open the light and see if you can invert the fans for the heatsinks. Right now your light is probably pulling air in the top and shooting it down on to the heatsink and out the sides. While this is the way the light is designed it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. You should be able to invert them to pull air in the sides across the heat sinks and exhaust the heat out the top instead which is a more natural direction for the air to flow based on temperature. Some people will say that it is not necessary and doesn't help or improve, and sometimes it doesn't. I would run a temperature test if you can with the fans oriented both ways and see if you have an improvement in temperature below the light. I also suggest daisy chaining but make sure your tent can maintain good temperatures with adequate air exchange.

@KCChiefers, hey man, good luck on the interview. 15 minutes beats an hour any day. You are almost done! That's good to hear. The journey can feel long sometimes. Perpetual grows can be a pain in the butt. You don't necessarily need more than one light, but to better understand how to manage your light for each plant given its stage. Sounds like you are doing that though so no more worries. But I would still suggest perpetual with only two-three plants at a time until you feel more comfortable. And not because you can't keep up with it, but you will have to balance your life with each plant's light and nutrient needs on an individual basis, and with all of them in different stages, it will make for some work when it comes time to water. We try our plants on trim day, 1 week into the cure, 2 weeks into the cure, and then as needed. 7.5/10 isn't bad. How long did your buzz last you? 1/2 isn't bad at all considering your level of knowledge. Good job on your first grow ๐Ÿ‘! It's good that your needs are being met with you what you have accomplished. If anything, you sound more confident and ready to keep growing which is always nice. All is well man, just trying to get the work-life and home life in better harmony with each other.

@NeedsMoreFans, hopefully interview goes well tomorrow. 15 minute drive to work is so much better lol. Well my ladies are doing great. Saturday they will get the chop. I'm definitely learning about how hard a perpetual grow is. I wasn't even thinking and since I don't have more than one light, I should have adjusted the heights of the Bubblegums I started with risers or something similar. I've got that figured out now... But they probably will more than likely yield a quarter together. If I had the money I'd toss them but waste not want not, am I right? Haha. But I did have curiosity of trying some of the bud that has been curing for a week. Granted it was the first smoke of the day, but one .5 joint got me where I like to be. Overall like 7.5/10. Earthy/Citrusy more earthy as of now, but I'm sure a longer cure could improve that. At first I thought I messed up, 15 minutes go by and it hits me like an edible would hit ya. Real nice body/heady buzz. Even though I only received about a 1/2 from her it's so rewarding, as a first time grower, to say I did it lol and that it meets my needs. Now just need to see how much Yellow will bring me! Hope all is well.

@El_Jeffe, yes she is fighting, hard. I like it though, I'm seeing good results so far. There are two laterals that I am curious to see how well and if they catch up, I've highlighted them in the photos above. Thank you for the compliment on the photos. I want to show what I'm doing and hopefully provide angles that help people who don't know. I'm not comfortable with making a video yet, so detailed photos for everyone. One thing I'm trying to do now is twist her slightly so there are no down facing branches. No the easiest thing to do, but I'm trying. By all means, take anything I can do that you think will be beneficial to your own endeavors.

NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@El_Jeffe, she had me worried with that calcium issue, and I'm still worried, but less so. Your suggestion about opening her up really helped a lot. The production turned up and is still turning up. I'm like when are these other branches going to end their stretch?! How many more flower sites am I going to have? Defoliating in conjunction with opening her up is doing wonders. I'm sure I could have gotten larger flowers on top of each branch had I defoliated more, but I want to keep it to a minimum. If I get some good popcorn off the bottom it will be okay. If it fails to make decent popcorn, I'll defoliate the flower sites that won't be worth much and the leaves on future grows. Let's finish these plants, man. I can't wait. You have me really wanting to grow my last seed of NL. All 3 of your plants are looking good man.

Ugh. The canopy looks so good. Also love the comparison pic. I may have to do that when i get farther along again. She really put on a nice stretch. And even though you said you weren't as pleased with your LST as you would've liked, I feel like it worked out well as she has bushed out very nicely and uniformly.

NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@KCChiefers, yes, she does have a nice canopy. I do get what you are saying, she did put on a nice stretch for the training she did receive and is filling out nicely. I think I was just being more critical than I really need to be. I was letting the ego get in the way of what was happening. Thanks for the positive words. Comparison pictures are good to see what you are doing well and how you are improving. Even if you don't post them on here, take more for yourself to see what is and isn't working.

She's filling out nicely good job on the training shame u snapped a branch but she has taken it like a champ hasn't slowed her down one bit I'd say she's almost the size of my GG has she started to put out any frost yet or smell

NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@El_Jeffe, thank you for the compliment on the training. It turned out better than I had anticipated in all reality. I think I waited until the right time to release her from her bonds. Yeah, that one branch is a definite non issue at this point with her development. Have you measured the height of your GG lately for comparison? She is starting trichome development. In terms of smell, my sinuses are jacked right now so I can't tell.

@KCChiefers, thank you. And I agree, I'm also interested to see how we both progress. This will be my 7th grow total, and 1st in a tent. I've had some failures a long the way for one reason or another. I'm looking to make this the best outing. I just need to keep this soil moisture levels in line while dealing with the heat that is outside making the the tent so hot. I've grown in 80-82 degree temperatures before, and had no soil issues, this time though, not so much. It is the 1st time with a tent like I said though, so new environment learning curve.

Do you add cal mag as a preventative? Or since you have a few grows under your belt you know it's expected?
NeedsMoreFans
NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@KCChiefers, yes, that is exactly what I'm saying, every strain is different in terms of nutrients needed. I haven't used the Happy Frog soil or mixed them. I've had zero issues with the FFOF so far. I think that the different soil grow would be a good choice to make to see how those genetics respond to the different soil compositions. The FFHF will be less hot than the FFOF, so you may see different reactions on the growth. You also may not see any differences that are noticeable. Unfortunately it's always an experiment until you have done enough to know what does and doesn't work. So I say one FFOF and one FFHF. Learning is always beneficial.
KCChiefers
KCChieferscommented5 years ago
@NeedsMoreFans, so basically every strain is different in terms of nutrients needed is that what you're saying? If so I get what you mean by that. I've got two seeds left of this strain and will be adding two more seeds in to the 4x4 tent here in a few days. I'll post a new journal with them. Oh and actually my local shop was out of the Ocean Forest last time I went , so I got the big ol' bag of Happy Frog. Which one do you prefer? The two bubblegum seeds I'm germing in a few days...should I do one in FFOF and one in FFHF to see if it has any difference? The Happy Frog is a little bit cheaper and I get a bigger bag.
NeedsMoreFans
NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@KCChiefers, It really depends on your plants and how they respond to what is available in the soil already. I've never had a plant respond poorly to the FFOF, even with nutrients being added after 7 days from sprouting. But that doesn't mean it will or won't work for you. I would suggest that if you are unsure, only give cal-mag to one of your plants that isn't the runt. You can then do a comparison on how this line of genetics responds to your dosing. If you feel like nothing changed, then you will have some idea on how to proceed with this genetic line for your next round. This also doesn't mean this genetic line would never need cal-mag, but you can start to determine how much it may need compared to other strains when you start to try other genetics. If you are also worried about how hot the soil is, for you next grow I would suggest a 50/50 of FFOF and FFHF, or just go 100 FFHF. Just know that each run will be different and you are learning how to dial in your touches to specific strains, and that some of what you are learning can be broad spectrum in its application.

Looking good not sure on what direction you should bend her to be honest just go with what you think is right and I'm sure u will be OK or you could try pony tailing her it will force some of the shoots to grow out that might help you decide

NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@El_Jeffe, I just click on "Edit Week" and update it day by day if I can. I download my pictures each day after loading the site to have them already in order and set up. I've topped before, with different autos, RQS, SS, Barney's Farm, Nirvana, and they haven't freaked out. This time though I wanted to avoid all that. I want push my LST skills harder to do better and figure out what I really like. I think that after I've had more practice and time, I'll do a combo of LST with Pony Tailing (also LST).
El_Jeffe
El_Jeffecommented5 years ago
@NeedsMoreFans, looking good how do you add pictures to the weeks you have already submitted wasn't aware you could do that also have you considered topping her if you want more colas I would wait until the next set of nodes come in then top her will give u a more Even canopy to manipulate with lst
NeedsMoreFans
NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@El_Jeffe, I made a decision, no pony tails needed. But that wasn't something I was thinking about doing, maybe in the future if I can't decide. Thank you for giving input, also. I'm hoping for 10 cola sites by the time flowering starts, we will see.
El_Jeffe
El_Jeffecommentedweek 75 years ago
Looking smart mate nice structure from the training since you have the room have u thought about opening the tall branches out by that I mean try pulling them as low as they will go to open up the canopy and even it out it will allow more light to your flowers if you do try it go slow a be carefull not to brake any branches
NeedsMoreFans
NeedsMoreFanscommented5 years ago
@El_Jeffe, I have actually been debating on that one. I might give it a shot tonight and see how it goes. There is a fear of breaking a branch.
