I'm excited to be starting my third grow (second diary). I'm counting from day one of germination with no pre-soak/directly into Jiffy pod.
The newest addition to my setup is a 260W QB w/ Samsung LM301H + Cree 660nm LEDs (currently dimmed way down). This is more than double the wattage of my previous light, while also increasing efficiency.
For nutrients, I will be using GreenBuzz Liquids and look forward to seeing the results
I replaced my fan with one that can mount on the pole.
For some reason, the first set of true leaves are a bit wonky. Please see photo marked "This one" from week two. Interested in thoughts on what could be causing this? Too much light or wind from fan is what I am thinking
Not too much to report. The left plant seems to be doing well, while the runt... is still a runt. That's ok though. I'm going to grow it out and see how she turns out.
Looks like they started to flower this week. The small one has been growing ~1inch per day and is showing black/purple already.
I reduced the feeding strength as 1.0 EC was a bit hot and I was seeing a few "claw" leafs on the bigger plant. Now I'm feeding around 0.8 EC
I have been leaving the runt to do whatever she wants. I don't really feel like making two different feed schedules for the two, so I've been focusing on the bigger lady. I took a look at the runts trichomes just a few minutes ago and the mature ones seem to be purple vs amber. I think she'll be ready in a week or so, while the bigger one will still be several weeks
The next grow will be heavily trained. I stopped early on when I broke two branches, Since then, I've started adding silica and will be doing so for any non-soil grows.
The big lady was having some Cal and maybe P issues this week that was likely due to a salt build-up. I measured runoff EC at 3.3 !!! I ran several flushes and got run off down to ~1.EC. I will keep a much closer eye on runoff.
The runt is on day 6 of flush and will likely be coming down in 2-3 days.
I had some more issues that seem calcium related, but all seems to be under control now.
I've also been dealing with some height/light issues and had to turn down the lights down a bit more.
I harvested the runt and will be surprised if I get more than a quarter out of it. (Don't keep autoflower runts).
This will likely be the last update before harvest.
I had noticed an increase in fungas gnats in my traps, so I added a bit of diatomaceous earth on the top. Will be much more aggresive with IPM on the next run. I think some of the issues I had could have been related to gnats having free rein.
Overall I am very happy with this grow. I had a few issues due to being out of town for work, but she recovered nicely.
Things I learned this grow:
-Don't waste your time with autoflower runts.
-Keep a closer eye on runoff EC.
-Train early and add some Silica if you are not in soil (I broke a few branches which caused me to stop training. I then ran into a height issue in my "shorty" tent and had to reduce my lights output. Super cropping could have been an option but didn't discover that until it was too late.
-Fungas gnats become an issue late in grow. Next grow will be pre-treated with a mosquito dunk as I have read that is a good way to prevent gnats.
The rosin from BB came out very buddery and is fantastic. I'm planning on doing a bubble hash run with the trim
some donated trim from my neighbour.
