Smells good right now.
Getting thicker and frostier right now.
I continued to drop nutrients a bit more this week. PPM is really high again on P2. Sitting around 3500 for the other two plants. I feel there's plenty of nutrient in solution now for the plants to get enough until harvest.
I probably won't add nutrient again, a few more weeks of fattening then flush to ripen.
Past winter solstice now, so the days are getting longer. As far as I'm concerned that means I was successfully with my original goal of growing through the winter season. The plants look good, but I wouldn't recommend growing with less than 12 hours of light. None of these plants developed the way they should/could have. Especially with the nutrients I used in this crop.
Although, growing in the 10 hour light cycle does work, so if you choose to grow outdoors and not supplement light, I'm pretty confident you can as long as you don't get freezing temps. I will likely continue to grow during the winter season but don't plan on using quality seeds or very much nutrient. Good for an easy hold over. I like having fresh crop all the time. This will make for a nice January harvest. If you're fortunate enough to be able to grow outside, I recommend it, really easy maintenance. Sometimes I forget to check my plants for the whole week. Keeping a grow diary is actually the only thing that keeps me checking on them regularly.
Anyways I'll give a more full recap of my growing experience post harvest.
@KratkyGrow, good observation. I'll keep this in mind next time that I'll pop seeds. Was actually thinking about starting the new lot in one set and pick survivors for individual nursing.
Again, good to know. Thanks for sharing.
@Med_in_Tropic,
I know! That was pretty disappointing.
In that batch I don't think I had any stressor conditions that would have made them more likely to be males. (I've read that red light, high heat, fluxing heat, or nutrient overload can all lead to higher rates of males)
I did plant them all out of one tote bin, so the roots got all tangled, not sure if that would do anything or not. But that did help me learn when 7 of the 8 get pulled, and the roots are too tangled to seperate, they just rotted in the bin and created extra worry on my end for the one female. I also think the female developed slowest, and was the smallest plant, maybe because her roots were getting choked out by the males. I wouldn't try planting more than one in a single tote again unless I knew they were all females.
Low vpd - humid low temp - There will be less transpiration. I agree with you that more leaves are better for the plants . Then the can pump more water and nutrients to grow.
