Welcome to my Fast Buds sponsored shootout and living organic soil v coco side by side. I also plan to use this grow to my full advantage regarding a few age old nagging questions about methods.
I have had a keen interest in L.O.S ( supersoil) since reading a few threads a while back on how amazing and productive it can be. After too much research and procrastinating I had to give it a go. I have been a decades coco/nft grower and recently threw my hat in the rdwc ring too. I have avoided soil due to the overwatering worry ( heavy handed chimp brain !) and the best potting soil/feeds. Catching up on the advances in indoor soil gardening and organics led me too subcools supersoil recipes to name a few but being a town dweller with farms everywhere around me still drew blanks on a lot of the ingredients needed and where the hell I could even begin to get them from. Thankfully , commercial savvy has now made buying it in ready to use and with a full range of beneficial bacteria ect available in amendments from a grow shop here in the uk. ecothrive have realised the potential for us to dive into this medium with all the mixing , measuring and resourcing. I bit the bullet and £150 later I now have 4 x37Litre pots that will be used for as long as I want to feed the soil for without EVER needing nutrients again potentially. The coco has also had charge mixed in to encourage the bennies to colonize there too. I will be using the shogun nutes that I know do the business with coco to compare with for yield , growth and taste.
I have 3 seeds each of 4 Fast Buds Strains to use as a control for the grow and am journaling each strain in their own diaries. This statement will be used to start each one as the information is identical at this point but following this I will do them individually.
I am now starting their second week since opening the seed packets , straight into soaked and shook root riot cubes and into the heated propagator. They had all showed their heads by end of day 3 and a couple needed helmet surgery to open up without being hindered . I have has them in the prop for a few days but they needed to get settled as they were popping roots out all over the cubes. They have now been in their final pots for 2 days complete and starting their 3rd today at day 8 since planting in cubes. I am impressed with the speed and success of these girls already (12 of 13 germinated) . Well done fast buds.
So here we go folks , any comments , ideas ,questions , advice are always welcome and I hope we can have some fun experimenting with defol v non defol , topping v fimming v bending and any other curiosities along the way. I plan on using a quadline for them all to keep a control for the comparisons too.
Be green folks
Welcome aboard and a huge thank you to Fast Buds for the opportunity to try autos.
Day 9 above soil: The Dreamgirls have been slow and steady this week but at least steady.lol
They are the smallest of the strains in general size and there is a noticeable difference. They are not concerning me at all just a lot smaller at this stage.
All the factors are identical within the crop so I am sure they will take off soon enough. They had a small feed today too so hopefully will start fattening out
Day 16: What a good week for these girls. They initially looked like slow starters but soon have picked their pace up and now appear the biggest group of the strains growing as a whole. They are nice and green looking throughout and it looks like the LOS may be the leader so far.
I am stoked with the strains
I have running now and their speed is phenomenal. Seeing how quickly they have all changed in such a short time gives me a lot of confidence for their finish. Bring it on fast buds. Your impressing the hell out of me
Dayb27 from seed: Wow!. what can you say about dreamatic besides wow. Love these girls who have been the most productive and happy since this grow started. The loss girl is huge and show no signs slowing down I do need to water a little less though as the amounts are a little too heavy in think. As pointed out correctly by Suicidal. Thanks S.
The coco girls are also storming along at present and the switch to Mega crop has been positive move for these future monsters. toppings have been done and now the fun begins.
Day 33 from seed: This strain is the star of my room thisnrun. Fast buds were not kidding about the growth on these ladies being fast. They have gone crazy this week and now trained , I can see their huge potential already. I do have a bit of a Nitrogen issue happening that I am dealing with .
#1 Los girl is contourting in pain from too much N as is #2 as well. they both have odd leaves clawing at the tips and i initially thought overwatering but now i think it is N. No more Mc for the Los pot and only plain water for next feed.
#2 is also showing signs of too much N so backing off back to 10g/L Mega crop again to try to correct it. Over all she is doing brilliant and banging on the size.
#3 another happy healthy big girl to look forward to smoking
Day 40 ( 3 in flower) : These girls are amazing and deserve some star status for their growing ability. From the off these girls have given full attention to their growth , even the 2 girls that were suffering under the intensity of the lights ( moved to 24 "now.) It gave 2 of them tip curl like too much Nitrogen does so had me head scratching on the new Mega crop and dosages. Now figured they are continuing to outgrow most of the other strains running. They have been easy to work with on their lst and pin down and far extend the pots edges.
#1 The living organic girl is loving her spot in the room and paying me back in her spurts of growth. # needs a little thinning out but happy .#3 Is a willing bush in the making but a good defol will open her up.
Day 47 ( 10 Days flowering): My last to update but by no means my least.!!. This strain is my favourite grower at the moment. This could change on harvest of the 4 strains but for her growing and training , she stomps it for me.
# 1 In the living organic soil ( LOS ) is the biggest by a mile. This medium is a winner for me. The ease of use and the results for very little input now are amazing. Her pot is teeming with green life to keep her mulch layer active , her limbs are thick and ready to hold weight and she is covered in great bud sites. My clear favourite of the grow right here. Her buds are still looking very young but I suspect her slower building will be her sativa leaning and I think she will be one of the last out .lol
#2 is keeping her pace with her sister quite well. There is a big difference in sizes which could be pot size but I suspect more medium based. She is a fair size and will be a good yielder.
#3 As with the other strains, is the smaller of the 3. Coco and Mc cannot keep pace with their organic competition it seems. She is formed really well beneath the canopy and her limbs are nice and thick for holding the huge buds she will pack on.
All in all , a great week and more to come.
Day 56 (flowering day 16): My stars of the show right here. These plants are beasts. I can only imagine how they would grow outside.
I managed to get #1 as she had just gone to sleep. Her wilted look is due to having enough light for the day so she has dropped off like granny after Christmas Dinner while the kids carry on .lol The structures on these are amazing. They have een slower to flower and I expect a mid Jan 2020 harvest.
#1 Sleeping beauty has not missed a beat the whole grow. She continues to wring every last morsel of nutrition from her soil. Tons of bud sites and each branch is looking like a mini version of a whole plant!!.
#2 has een moved to the outside for more ligjt and so I can watch her more. she has shown signs of calmag issues so I have made sure to keep that up with the mega crop too.
#3 while a lot less wide , has a very thick under belly to her branching. she should support a lot of weight.
These ladies will benefit from the earlier harvested strains by getting a light each it seems. let's see what 300w each can do for their lady two weeks.
Merry Christmas all
Day 55 since planting out: Having messed my weeks up a little and now sorting them correctly, these ladies are on par with how I expect photoperiods to be developing so I feel in my comfort zone again. The Los has been an amazing medium for this strain it seems and she is huge. At present she is the biggest girl in the room and her 2 sisters look set to follow suit when given some more space next week. They look like they could go till mid january before their harvest which is a bonus as they will get 3 weeks under their own lights with a nice spread out to hit all those bud sites with full par for their finish. #2 Has the potential for hugeness too but being cramped in at present is keeping her growing. #3 is plodding along waiting for her neighbours to move out so she can steal their sun lounger spot the minute they leave for harvest.
They are all starting to smell nice and sweet at the slightest disturbing of their buds and I cannot wait to sample this much respected strain for myself.
Day 63: This week has seen the bud stacks building up nicely. They look a far way off a finish still in general but that's ok by me for their overall yield potential. All 3 have been doing good and I dont doubt without any training, would have been impossible to fit in the room without a drop in plant count. They are putting out a beautiful aroma now and it seems I have another very fruity smelling beauty strain to harvest.
#1 Has kept her growth consistent throughout and been the best producer until now She has a lot of bud sotes to get busy stacking on so hopefully a few weeks will see her balloon.
#2 Has become the behemoth of the grow now with her pushing her way through foliage like a British Missionary. She needs some space now and will be very happy to get it following the 1st harvest of blackberry.
#3 Has done well to keep her development active among the thicket she was in. Trimming out the undersides of these ladies has given great airflow so I dont have to worry too much about mould and too much Rh. She will also get more space soon.
Feeds are going well and they Love the MC/shogun combo it seems. Let's hope we have a great harvest to show how amazing these Fast Buds strains are.
Day 70: The Bluedreamatic went to go big and it is all I can do to keep them happy.lol The #1 los girl is yellowing off on her top leaves but had an amendments the other day to try and address it . Could be the intense lighting still but is isn't affecting her badly so fat bud wise. #2 is getting very big mow and needed moving over to a better spot in the room for wider coverage of her budsites. #3 who was inside with the crammed in girls has some very nice fat tops on her canopy and when I look deeper into her body , can see so many developing sites too. She has been moved to a better position too now and should get 2-3 weeks to soak up some lumens.
They have been put onto shogun Dragon force and boost for their finish now so let's see if they swell up as I expect they will. I am convinced that these ladies will be heavy yielders by the look of them now. They smell of fresh pineapples when disturbed too. so beautiful. at least 2 weeks to go with them I think. roll on the chubby icy buds.
Day 77: As expected , the ladies have continued to pack bud girth on this week and i suspect will go at least another week at the least. They are pushing out so many fresh pistils still even though the LOS girl looks very faded now. she is covered in fresh pistils too so no signs of a ripen yet or withdrawal of the unused ones so let's see if her leaves allow another week !!. I wonder if my LOS has died and needs a total recharge for the next run ( already germed and coming very soon !!!) The #2 is continuing to fatten all her mains out which give her a shaggy appearance all over. She is a good size and showing some fading signs too now.
I never flush , ever , so thisnis a natural dmfast which I am glad to say is a welcome sight now. #3 Is the tallest girl with the nearest looking buds all down her stems. I live the fresh fruit smells she kicks out too. 2 more weeks would make these stellar girls.
Day 84:Another week passes and these girls are still full of white pistils. The Los girl is now totally void of Nitrogen in her pot I think and it explains the yellowing from early on. I think I may have washed the life and nutes out with an overwatering and not had chance or time to replenish them fully. Their pot will be redone when she is out to re introduce all the life. The bids on her have definitely paid the price of no supply of abundant feeds and without doubt smaller than they could have been. She is so productive that it's a shame to reach the end this way. # 2 is leading the way for her to watch how its done. She is pushing nice shaggy fat colas that are starting to orange up a little now so should it be much longer before she reaches her perfect pint to harvest. #3 Has pushed herself to the top slot for size and development. The colas are so hard i can't squash them at all. They let me know they are there with bursts of pineapple smells as I move them around. I don't doubt that she will be another week before her end but that gives her more time to swell !. For growth , this strain is amazing and a definite grow for the future.
until next week Growmies. have fun
Day 92: Now entering their 9th flowering week , I was convinced they would be done at this point. The #1 in the inactive los soil seems to have stalled with very little changes to her this week. I have given her a blast of Mc at full strength into hopefully boost her for this next weeks flowering time. All of these ladies want to carry on and are not yet showing all cloudy . There isn't any amber trichromes around at all and the #2 +#3 have been adding new pistils to their buds , this again makes me feel they will go the full 11 weeks in flower but that could also mean another swell !. I will be growing more of this strain for sure in the future. They are all very pineapple smelling up close and they are beginning to add more frost now too.
Day 100 !!!!! These ladies are a pleasure to watch grow and swell week by week. I took the 1# and #2 out yesterday for their trim to dry and they are beautiful fat colas with the stickiness of wet gum. Trimming had us constantly cleaning the snips and changing gloves too. The initial aroma is so pungent of earthy kush/Blueberry that the whole house reeks of them now. They are without doubt the most pungent strain I have in memory . WOW . sitting close up for the trim is an experience in itself. The air is so filled with terps around her as we manoeuvred her to trim , it got too much !!!!! We took breaks ffs !!!. Never had to do that before. lol
The last lady is the bigger of the strain so I am looking forward to her trim later.
Wow and wow. The size of the buds for this strain are amazing. From their flower start their ends they have performed well. Trained , untrained , in tight spaces and spread out ,these want to build long , fat , smelly colas and they do. Seperating bud from stem after the cure will be hard as they are so dense and formed up. They are the stickiest bud I have grown to date in my growing career and have also contributed to this personal best record so far of 40oz this run of 4 auto strains.
Each Cola is a fat , stinky , sticky main and stand firm and needed no support due to their amazing ruderalis growth initially. Well done on this amazing strain Fast buds. One for a future grow and perfect for new growers to embark on their careers with. They smell so strongly of blueberries with a nice venomous kick to them. When we were trimming up our whole house reeked like an Amsterdam coffee shop for days. I have enjoyed the sampke I tried it the cure will bring it to perfection. The inhale and exhale are very potent blueberry and the high is very uplifting with a potential for full body relaxing with continued use. Winner in my book.
I am stoked at over 17oz from 3 plants. These girls go big and heavy. You need to keep a handle on the R.H to avoid rot getting a grip as the buds are so dense. They are happy to be trained out a little and I suspect could cope with more aggresive lst than I did with them. They would be a great 1st grow to do for new growers and have been no problem from seed to bud. Brilliant genetics @fastbuds .
@HydroGrowLED,pleasure mate. any help the universe can offer we grab. lol. they can also be used within the home for our benefits too. copper is an amazing substance and our old annunaki ancestory favours gold too.
@Ganjagrandaddy, just watched a 4 minute clip on YouTube I’m gonna order on eBay and try them out cheers for the idea mukka I’m excited to try something new 💪🔮💎🌱
@HydroGrowLED, I did a fair bit of research on using Crystal's for plants and came across Orgonite. very good data on using the right combination of elements like gold flakes , copper various crystals in "pucks" made from resin to hold them together. sounds crazy but please google organite and it will explain how it works too. amazing natural tool for cleaning up negative ions from lights etc...
Good to read the pots help too thank you for the heads up as it did worry me with the coco ones and time to fill out
thank you my friend kind words I think I done ok for 1st time growing I will definitely be keeping an eye on your diarys I will sure let you know m8 . Have a nice day @Ganjagrandaddy,
@Formedicalneeds,those new strains look very nice. a lot of good grows of the lemonade strains around too atm. should be fun. inam on an auto run next run in a few more weeks. sweet seeds gorilla girl xl , sweet cheese xl and theirbamnesia haze xl too. normally a photoperiod grower but loved the autobgrow previously so looking forward to seeing what they put out.
Good luck . let me know when your up and running too.
@Ganjagrandaddy, sounds amazing good job. ✊💪 Also looking forward to try the ones im growing. Have many fastbud strains in this grow. They are doing good. 💪
@@Dakaka,Thanks buddy. loved this grow. turned out my best harvest yield in 20 odd years overall. The 3 plants of 4 strains of the fast buds autos gave me over 45oz in total usable bud and a good amount of trim for some amazing Hash to come too.
@BillMonroe,And you too buddy. I know the forgetting which you have added last issue too hahahahaha. so damn well.lol
hope it get to you soon.
Have a happy holidays my friend
peace and love
@Ganjagrandaddy, Right on GGD that's exactly what I am after. nobody growing for themselves as a hobby should have to use all those damn bottles! There is enough fuss to take care of in daily life. The worst thing is when you use 3 bottles and you got it wrong after measuring. Then you have to add that stuff 3 times again! Thanks much for the pro tips, it is certainly appreciated, and wishing you also a very happy holidays & a bountiful 2020! =)
@BillMonroe,I promise on my honour as a grower Bill. It is amazing stuff. follow their feed exactly for the weeks and only add or back off if there are burn or anything but a beautiful perfect solent green. I promise you , you will rave about it as I do. so cheap to use long term , no ph issues and make sure its mixed properly before you add it to the main mixture. It has small calcium like balls that dissolve easily in Luke warm water or can be crushed. Be aware though , thisbstuff is made from unicorn shit so smells accordingly!!!!( another promise I know I can keep.!. ) Goodbye watered nute bottles and bullshit advertising , Hello science and decency , give us what we pay for please. lol. catch you soon mate. have a great Christmas and a prosperous new year
@Reaper,I fed with mega crop which override the organic soul and hit them hard. My light was also way too intense at the height I was using . They do go big as a strain though. be prepared. lol
Amazing! Those are some giant ladies. Your LST looks amazing. Everything just looks fantastic. Nice work. Keep doing what your doing and best of luck with the rest the grow.
@Denzul,Thank you Denzel. I have been less aggressive than usual as they are my 1st autos but they took the training well. After the stretch was a different matter though.lol
They go so big that even after major holding down they want to be tall. I can only imagine one of these autos outside.!!!!. Thanks mate. keep it green
Merry x-mas to you and the family my friend and may all your wishes come true in the next year....looking So amazing i have no words for it but....😱😱😱😱
Love your videos grandaddy - I'm growing a couple of autos at the moment , they're a couple of weeks behind yours..
Is your humidity really 73%?
I have a very small setup and it's quite a challenge for a first grow, so any tips appreciated.
Keep the videos coming please!
Are the pots really that big? (37L) I'm wondering what size root ball will be when finished
@LordAzrael,Hi bud. The 37L pots are a living organic soil so dont need any additional nutes. Rhe y only need water for their whole grow and the soil will make nutes for them to use. After the grow finishes , I will chop the stem at the base and put the next seedling straight into the same pot. All of the rootball left behind and any leaves stems from the harvest after making hash , will then be dried and used to make a layer of mulch for the soil to " eat" and keep the soil food web going. Still all with water but a replenish of the microbial life and nematodes( minute worms that compost ) using an amendment called life cycle and another called ecothrive charge. This will boost the soil to full life again and begin the whole process again. The supersoil can be kept going this way for life !!!. Fully organic and never needs flushing or any changes to the veg/flower periods just plain old water again. Win -win. amazing stuff and very interesting to read up on too. I wish we had a forum to share more like this but I am aware of taking up space nkw.lpk sorry for the ramble. I am more than willing to help and use the message app here too. my diaries are also open if you want to use them too. I dont mind that either. Would love to help you max your grow if I can. message me or pop in.green days
@BillMonroe,I am nervous about it not curious heehee. seeing the difference in days already has me more confident of their ability now. next update will show what I mean. these genetics are phenomenal, been watching photoperiods for decades and the rates are so much faster. I have a good feeling about these girls. welcome aboard for the fun mate.
