Well, I was going to take November off but I got bored, so...
Doing things little different this run:
First, thanks to Barney's Farms for the seeds! After my success with their Red Diesel last run, I'm confident that this will be a great run!
Second, I'm growing a single seed, and letting it grow naturally. I'll only trim if/when necessary for bud development. I'm a little nervous about height and stretch, so we'll see what happens!
Third, Lil'Purp will be growing in a 3-gallon fabric pot using pH-balanced water. Will try to stay away from nutes as much as possible.
Updates will be posted as usual every Thursday. And, I reserve the right to ignore everything I've said and go in a completely different direction, depending on what the plant tells me :)
Well, week 1 complete with no major issues! Lil'Purp adjusting to large pot, and I'm being careful to minimally water. Tent is running a little hot.
11/18 - missed photos for a couple days, had to tear everything down for an apartment inspection. Back up and operating now. Started adding 1/2 tsp FoxFarms Grow Big.
11/20 - Week 2 completed. Growth is steady but seems slow. We'll see what happens during Week 3!
Beginning Week 3 with Fox Farms Flower's Kiss - will be spraying Lil'Purp twice weekly moving forward. Day 15 picture looks a bit washed out, but plant is actually nicely green :)
11/23 - really taking off now, lots of growth in last 24 hours! Flower's Kiss 2x week.
11/25 - 3-1/2 x 8, looking very happy and healthy. Next watering I'll add a little Kelp Me Kelp You and Cal-Mag.

Starting off week 4 strong. Not going to be able to do any type of LST because the stem is SO thick and strong already - with so little internodal space, there's not been enough new growth to manipulate. Lil'Purp is taking in 2-1/2 cups every 3 days. Added a taste of Cal-Mag along with FoxFarms Grow Big (at 1/2 strength).
11/29 - Decided to try LST, was able to get Lil'Purp bent over a little bit - damned strong stem! Will keep adjusting a little at a time and see if I can successfully work this out.
12/2 - first pistil sighting!
12/5 - Glad I started to try LST when I did. Lil'Purp adjusted extremely well, and I have several beautiful little bud sites now! Did a full watering with Fox Farms, and will go back to just water next time. Very happy with what I'm seeing so far, this girl is very strong and resilient!
BTW, the plant is not changing colors from day to day! Some days I photograph with grow light on (makes it more lime green) and others without (she looks much darker).
12/7 - flowering now, seeing some stretch and good bud development. Estimated harvest - January 9, 2020.
12/9 - again seeing some evidence of cal-mag deficiency. Next watering will include.
12/12 - Lil'Purp stretching, up to 12" with about 8 main bud sites.
12/13 - Starting Flower week 3. Decent bud development. Some problems with weird reactions to water lead me to believe that I have drainage issues, but I used same fabric pots before (just 2 gallon instead of 3 gallon) and had zero issues.
Seven weeks done, just a couple more to go! Lil'Purp filling out nicely now. Not seeing any purple coloration yet, still hopeful but my tent stays pretty warm, so maybe not. Had to flush with Sledgehammer, was seeing a lot of indication of nute lock-out. Will probably hit it with nutes once more, than moving to just water for the final week or two. Finally seeing some crystalling, smell still pretty weak.
Lil'Purp is 56 days old! Really filling out nicely - I was afraid she was going to be sparse, but I was wrong. Not really seeing any purple yet, but the smell is getting stronger and fruitier. Flushed with Fox Farms Sledgehammer on day 53, now it's nothing but water until harvest. This plant has taught me a lot about autos, and I'm definitely going to run autos again next, debating between Pineapple Express and Blue Mammoth for my next run.
Lil'Purp is 63 days old and getting close. But...she just keeps plumping up with new white pistals. I'm betting I get another week to go. Smell has really increased over the last week, she's pushing my exhaust fan to its limit, but so far little-to-know odor leaking from tent. I've got to say, my previous experiences with autos didn't go great, but with adjustments I've made to lighting, I'm thinking this is the way to go! And with this being my 2nd strain from Barney's Farms, I have to say that their mastery of plant genetics is expert-level for sure! (Previous BF strain I grew was Red Diesel, which was my largest harvest weight to date and, wow, those budz are just amazing!)
After a solid 2 month cure, finally got around to sampling - wow! Very sweet, and definitely packing a "punch!" Ended up having to harvest in two waves, due to yellowing moving into buds. Total of 28 grams dry plus another 4 grams trim. Most challenging grow yet, with nute and watering problems. But would def. grow again. Yummy Purple Punch auto from Barney's Farm!
Again, learning about auto strains, I think I over-nuted this plant. Next time, will def. start with nutes at 1/4 strength. Decent harvest, quality makes up for quantity here.
@magicUmbrella, Nah, it was a nute/watering problem. Crispy yellow. Tried flushing, added in some CalMag, couldn't get it stopped so I had to cut about 1/2 plant down about a week before peak. After cut, rest of plant finished nicely. Will use 1st 1/2 for decarb/edibles. 2nd 1/2 cured really nice, I was toasted for about 4 hours off a little taste :)
